Well.. at least we (hopefully) got the worst W/E % drop of the season out of the way early
seattlesundevil - April 7, 2009
Chuck Meriwether deserves a mention on there somewhere >:(
BrettJMiller - April 7, 2009
I don't understand how we can bust Miguel's balls
For a blind fucking luck chopper and the bases being walked loaded by Morrow. Even if Batista gives up the hits, Morrow deserves all of this.
The Typical Idiot Fan - April 7, 2009
He can throw a Perfect Game
And he will still be Beluga Tits
Decatur - April 7, 2009
Of course he's still Beluga Tits.
Doesn’t mean he deserves the WI teabag for this one.
The Typical Idiot Fan - April 7, 2009
True
Decatur - April 7, 2009
I hate this meme so much
Aaron Campeau - April 7, 2009
You know what else was funny in 2007?
Family Guy
JI - April 8, 2009
No it wasn't.
Matthew - April 8, 2009
Was to
JI - April 8, 2009
It definitely wasn't
1999-2002, and maybe a few of the newer episodes in 2005. Maybe.
By 2007, it’s the show it is now. Which is not funny.
cwel87 - April 8, 2009
Even McFarland doesn't think it's funny
Otherwise he wouldn’t be pimping hulu and telling people to download his shows for free would he?
d0nkey - April 8, 2009
Yes because I am sure he makes zero money from Hulu.
Aaron Campeau - April 8, 2009
HERE HERE,
EnglishMariner - April 7, 2009
Correct
and yet that’s not how this works.
Jeff Sullivan - April 7, 2009
Yes I know.
I just wish it didn’t work that way.
The Typical Idiot Fan - April 7, 2009
Die in a fire bullpen.
Mariner John - April 7, 2009
Morow != "bullpen".
We still have 3 more people who can come in and fuck up.
The Typical Idiot Fan - April 7, 2009
Huh, I didn't realize the Mariners index correlated with the stock market.
Wilder. - April 7, 2009
So....I'm actually okay with this loss.
Game went pretty well and it all fell apart in one inning. Might as well put the “clubhouse police” to the test since the team spent all offseason promoting it.
ThundaPC - April 7, 2009
Uh.
Share your drugs, please.
The Typical Idiot Fan - April 7, 2009
You are fucking nuts.
EnglishMariner - April 7, 2009
Id be over it by now if we had some semblence of a good pitcher going tomorrow and the day after..
instead it’s gonna take an offensive outburst and solid pen work (including that prick Morrow) to get a split in Minnesota
Rudy4three - April 7, 2009
Actually, that was a fucking nightmare
lemonverbena - April 7, 2009
The one marginally good thing about this for me
Was that it happened on the second of the day of the season.
JLC - April 7, 2009
My new life's mission...
CURE DIABETES
no wait
KILL DIABETES
Karma Police - April 7, 2009
PDB's fanpost's title seems prescient: "A new season, the same old rules"
Rule #1: God hates you.
Decatur - April 7, 2009
If Morrow gets a shipment of sugar sent to his house it wasn't me.
Mariner John - April 7, 2009
We wasted three shutout innings of relief and a wonderful Yuni catch.. how did we lose this one
Rudy4three - April 7, 2009
Fieldturf, walks, luck.
seattlesundevil - April 7, 2009
That chopper was off the dirt though
lemonverbena - April 7, 2009
Gimme an M, gimme an A, gimme an R, gimme an I...
EnglishMariner - April 7, 2009
Now that is devotion.
I mean, to think, you stick with this crappy team all the way from England when you could choose to cheer for the Red Sox or Yankees, who are obligated by god to win every season.
Fin - April 7, 2009
I love not being a Red Sox/ Yankees fan over here because no-one seems to know any other teams exist.
I saw a guy in the pub the other week in a Red Sox t-shirt and when I told him I was a Mariners fan he replied ‘oh yeah? Florida?’
He then proceeded to talk at length about how Money Ball was the best book ever but I found it hard to take him seriously.
Only getting ESPN games doesn’t help the situation any.
Eyeball Kid - April 7, 2009
That's awesome.
Well, he was close, he was probably thinking of the Marlins. Also, to be fair, I don’t really know any English football teams beyond Manchester United (whom I am guessing are the Yankees of English Football) and Liverpool.
Fin - April 7, 2009
Learn.
Kirsten Schlewitz - April 8, 2009
Yes, but do you wander around wearing a Manc or Liverpool shirt and espousing about the book Fever Pitch?
Matthew - April 8, 2009
Fuck Man United.
EnglishMariner - April 11, 2009
So this entire thing was due to the umpire failing to give Bedard that K on Cuddyer
Graham MacAree - April 7, 2009
Yup.
abender20 - April 7, 2009
Basically
.Taylor - April 7, 2009
Nope.
This one falls squarely on Morrow.
With that logic, we don’t score those 2 runs when Yuni should have been called out at second base.
Wilder. - April 7, 2009
What a fucking abomination
He asks to be put in this situation. He says “I don’t want to start, I want to close – I feed off the pressure.” We give him what he wants, and he totally fucks us.
Ladies and gentlemen, your [insert year here] Seattle Mariners!
cwel87 - April 7, 2009
You said it.
Fuck Brandon Morrow and his selfish ways.
Fin - April 7, 2009
Drayer reminds us ...
that he had minimal innings this spring, and as they’ve decided he’s the man, he’s just going to have to work through it, and we’re going to have to live with it while he does.
msb - April 7, 2009
Then let him go through the refiner's fire and finish out the game.
That was my only problem with the outcome (well, other than the big, fat L on our record).
Wilder. - April 7, 2009
In that case, shouldn't they have him pitch in the 7th and 8th innings until he is normal?
Fin - April 7, 2009
In Tacoma?
Great idea, if it can save us botched [DEAD MEME] like this.
eponymous_coward - April 7, 2009
I blame Morrow too but that ump call was total bullshit
Graham MacAree - April 7, 2009
Totally
The Emerald Queen Casino Tracker said it was a strike!
Fin - April 7, 2009
And that thing never lies
Espescially not with Bret Michaels of Poison coming to the EQC on the Rock of Love tour!!!
Willie Mays Haze - April 7, 2009
It's the Entertainment Capital of the Northwest!
Fin - April 7, 2009
That hurts
I think they sell themselves short by only saying NW. Entertainment Capital of the WORLD!
Willie Mays Haze - April 7, 2009
Bedard's pitches are too sexy to witness up close.
Umpires have known to blackout momentarily.
Wilder. - April 7, 2009
I had the Twins feed and Blyleven was stupified that that wasn't a strike.
The Twins guys went on about it through the Cuddyer at bat and beyond.
Tyler - April 7, 2009
Whatever.
I blame Bob Fontaine.
PositivePaul - April 7, 2009
Linear game.
We have no idea how the rest of it goes if he makes the right call on Cuddyer.
The Typical Idiot Fan - April 7, 2009
Fuck Endy Chavez
JI - April 7, 2009
Wow, nice cliff of doom W/E graph.
TheOptimist - April 7, 2009
Well i'm glad I missed the end of this game
Corco - April 7, 2009
You can catch it again on FSN RIGHT NOW.
Two Rs and Two Ls - April 7, 2009
It would appear as though the trip to the sorority house was a resounding success.
Aaron Campeau - April 7, 2009
Heh.
royalcurve - April 7, 2009
Studied for the exam as I was invited to do, didn't break anything or embarass myself, and met some new girls
So yes, it was
Corco - April 7, 2009
I was on guard duty so I wouldn't wear my Ms hat and shirt
This is why we lost
Fett42 - April 7, 2009
I am sure this is why.
And not the fact that Morrow couldn’t throw a strike and Tits sucks.
Fin - April 7, 2009
Don't worry, that GMZ GIF was worth at least 4 WAR
So you’re at about 3.9 now.
Decatur - April 7, 2009
Aha!
Kirsten Schlewitz - April 8, 2009
Oh, that's lovely to look at
W: Ayala (1-0)
Fuck you, universe.
Karma Police - April 7, 2009
You guys wanna go see a dead body?
Kermit. - April 7, 2009
Hopefully not yours.
Fin - April 7, 2009
Excellent!
If he was hit by a train, then yes that would be me.
Kermit. - April 7, 2009
I had to go make sure my Kermit was safely in his corner.
msb - April 7, 2009
Well played
.Taylor - April 7, 2009
OMG OMG. Bedard speaks. Bedard laughs.
He really IS different this year.
Drayer did say he’d been really smiley all spring.
msb - April 7, 2009
Why the fuck is he smiling right now
Erik Bedard is an asshole
Jeff Sullivan - April 7, 2009
He obviously doesn't want to get paid this offseason.
Every W is worth $5 million in his shiny new contract.
Wilder. - April 7, 2009
Self-deprecating laughter.
the best kind.
msb - April 7, 2009
That asshole doesn't care about the team.
esoteric - April 7, 2009
There is no I in Erik.
msb - April 7, 2009
But there is?
Fin - April 7, 2009
Not a capital one!
Matthew - April 8, 2009
Hmmm
ESPN talking about WE in the Mariners game. Correctly sited that bottom 9th 2 outs bases loaded down by is 28% to win. Fuck you Batista (Morrow.)
Zwakamatsu - April 7, 2009
Err...cited
Zwakamatsu - April 7, 2009
Well its time.
Scruffy Lefty - April 7, 2009
I love the eyes
Robert - April 7, 2009
Googly eyes
abender20 - April 7, 2009
Please add this to the cockpunch collection gifs, mods.
Though I imagine we’ll have one for Beluga Tits before too long, too.
eponymous_coward - April 7, 2009
Quick, someone get Eddie Guardado
Maybe he can teach the splitty. to Morrow. Okay, he would just throw it in the dirt.
appleshampoo - April 8, 2009
Betancourt did not take a single pitch out of the zone
He fouled them all off. Ironically the only pitches he did not swing at were in the “strike zone”(the plate ump loved calling inside pitches strikes in this one according to gameday).
tdot mariner fan - April 7, 2009
I love sudden and total collapses
For some reason they’re hilarious to me
OlSalty - April 7, 2009
I've yet to find anything funny about the Cleveland game in 2001.
BrianL - April 7, 2009
Or how Arthur Rhodes was David Justice's bitch. Nope, still not funny.
eponymous_coward - April 7, 2009
wrong
JI - April 7, 2009
In order for this to ever be funny I'd need to see Robert's immediate reaction tacked on to the end.
BrianL - April 7, 2009
I don't voilently react till hours afterwards.
My immediate reaction is generally to lie on the ground and not move for 45 minutes
Robert - April 7, 2009
I can't stop watching..... What's wrong with me?
seattlesundevil - April 7, 2009
-
Aaron Campeau - April 7, 2009
I think a Williams HR gif would bother me.
Robert - April 7, 2009
I'm still really annoyed.
hcoguy - April 7, 2009
Today is the first day since the event where I don't feel angry thinking about it.
I think I’m starting to get over it.
