Bedard to Miss Next Start

From Larry Stone

Erik Bedard has a tight right hamstring, and manager Don Wakamatsu just told us that he' a likely scratch for his next start, which was to be Saturday at Safeco against the Red Sox. Garrett Olson is likely to get the start. The Mariners don't think the injury to Bedard -- who tweaked his hammy in his last start -- is serious enough for the disabled list. They think he will be able to pitch soon if they don't push it.

Hooray.

Hopefully this is as it's stated and not actually too serious. We have seen already this season the Mariners be extremely conservative with their pitchers when it comes to minor injuries so them stating that Bedard is not likely bound for a short DL stint should tell us how they feel about the threat level of this one.

OTOH...

There’s Ronny Cedeno and how they ‘hamstrung’ this roster by playing with 23-24 guys on a consistent basis, thus managing the disabled list quite poorly…

And they put Morrow on the DL when he only needed a couple days.

Maybe give the team the benefit of the doubt?

Clearly Morrow needs more time on the DL...

I, for one, think he’s more injured than we’re being told.

As opposed to too much time sitting, and not enough pitching before getting thrown into closing again?
That two-pronged trade is really helping us out this season.
This is like being hit in the funny bone

it’s really not a big deal but you still have to stop and take a couple of deep breaths to get over it.

FUCKED UP.

PART OF MY DREAM LAST NIGHT INVOLVED BEDARD GOING ON THE DL. GOD’S HONEST TRUTH.

I ALSO WOKE UP TO CHECK THE SCORE ON MY PHONE IN THE MID-11TH WHEN WE HAD A ONE RUN LEAD, I DECIDED TO STAY AWAY AND WATCH MOBILE GAMEDAY. ONCE AGAIN I UTTERLY CURSED THE TEAM AND BY TAKING A KEEN INTEREST IN THEM DOING WELL THEY PROCEEDED TO THROW THE LEAD AND THE GAME AWAY. ALL TO SPITE ME.

FOR THE MARINERS TO WIN THE WORLD SERIES ONE THING IS CLEAR: I MUST BE DESTROYED.

You picked a bad team to follow from half a world away

There’s a reason the Sox are big in japan.

This blows

When it rains it pours I guess…

I am more concerned with what this does to his perceived value than the fact that he will miss a start. But then again, maybe that means he will stay…
