Let’s recall JJ at one point was a RHP of little account. I like the idea of GMZ pulling a guy from the scrap heap and turning him into more shiny new prospects down the road.
Part of me believes his plan with Morrow, Fields, and Aumont is to make one a closer, trade him for a haul, and then repeat with the next of the three first round picks.
Because n/0 = ∞ for all n, so the result is the same no matter how many non-fastballs he threw. And, truth be told, as long as it was more than 0, However, 1 is not really all that much greater than 0. A very small change resulted in a huge percentage change.
That man knows about nothing except eating. I was working the dessert cart in the suites once and he made the “I’ll take the whole cake just leave one piece” joke. I laughed and then he gave me a look like he was serious.
Yep.
ThundaPC - May 15, 2009
Yep.
gregrabble - May 15, 2009
Mmhmm.
gregrabble - May 15, 2009
Dang ol' handmeanothercanofthatAlamo
tootthekazoo - May 15, 2009
That could mean anything
Poochie - May 15, 2009
Lopez swinging at a ball at his shoulders. I'm begining to hate you again
Rudy4three - May 15, 2009
I really fucking wish this game was on TV.
SethGrandpa - May 15, 2009
Whatever, M's still lose
JLC - May 15, 2009
Fuck you
gregrabble - May 15, 2009
If I were Jose Lopez's batting coach,
I’d just pump high fastballs at him until he could consistently tell strikes from balls.
sammy - May 15, 2009
Or put a collar on him that delivers a shock whenever he swings
a la Betancourt
JLC - May 15, 2009
JoeBlazer: you are to never take that Jersey off again.
Get used to it.
Decatur - May 15, 2009
hehe, I'll do my best. I'm in Portland and can't wait to make it up to Safeco again.
JoeBlazer - May 15, 2009
Sean White, non-suck version coming in
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
I'm wondering what the ultimate moment of this game will be ...
if Ichi was the penultimate moment.
msb - May 15, 2009
Obviously: Yuni's two walks.
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
I was thinking the Pedroia walk off on Aardsma
sammy - May 15, 2009
except you can't have a walk off in the top of the 9th
fail.
sammy - May 15, 2009
Haha...
Agreeing fail.
nickmo - May 15, 2009
If that happens...
So help me.
nickmo - May 15, 2009
If he's still around.
ThundaPC - May 15, 2009
>:(
Let’s not buzzkill things just quite yet.
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
Lester looks like Morrow probably did.
ThundaPC - May 15, 2009
NESN announcer just called Ostrich "Jakubauskie"
sammy - May 15, 2009
Poor guy should have stuck with Jak.
Heydude - May 15, 2009
Maybe he was trying for Jakubostrich?
msb - May 15, 2009
Mound Meeting:
Joh: Red Sox. We are facing the Red Sox. No pitches down the middle like that.
msb - May 15, 2009
I love it when pitchers get ahead in the count...
nickmo - May 15, 2009
Except when it's because it's our hitters are swinging at pitches in other ballparks.
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
I love it when OUR pitchers get ahead in the count *
nickmo - May 15, 2009
I thought Lopez was giong to screw that up for a second.
ThundaPC - May 15, 2009
Nice play Lopie.
sammy - May 15, 2009
Mark Lowe up.
Oh dear.
ThundaPC - May 15, 2009
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
New reason to hate Mike Sweeny
He’s friends with Larry the cable guy and was the one who arranged to him to come to the park and take BP.
Willie Mays Haze - May 15, 2009
Too bad he's not friends with Ron White, that guy can tell a good story
Kermit. - May 15, 2009
Yeah, out of all those guys Ron White is the only one I can stand.
Willie Mays Haze - May 15, 2009
They call me....
Tater Salad.
nickmo - May 15, 2009
I loved that bit so much, what he's doing with those other guys is beyond me
Kermit. - May 15, 2009
True, Ron White is way better than LtCG
“I don’t wanna be drunk in public, I wanna be drunk in a bar”.
ralphie81 - May 15, 2009
They threw me into public.
nickmo - May 15, 2009
Okay now I do actually hate him.
A lot.
Aaron Campeau - May 15, 2009
Welcome to the dark side!
Poochie - May 15, 2009
David Cross should write an open letter to Mike Sweeney.
Aaron Campeau - May 15, 2009
Every indication is that Mike Sweeney is batshit crazy to begin with.
Poochie - May 15, 2009
GO AWAY LARRY THE CABLE GUY YOU SUCK
tootthekazoo - May 15, 2009
Larry the Cable guy would be an upgrade over several of our players.
Heydude - May 15, 2009
Several?
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
I mean, really, if can he hit a RHP he's better than half the regular lineup.
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
Rob Johnson, Carlos Silva, Miguel Batista.
I’ll lay off of Yuni cause of the 2 walks.
Heydude - May 15, 2009
He can't take a pitch either.
rickpo - May 15, 2009
I tend to think he'd fit in actually.
I think he would ground into more than his fair share of double plays.
nickmo - May 15, 2009
Was that Bucky Jacobsen?
kentroyals5 - May 15, 2009
I totally forgot about that guy. What happened to him?
sammy - May 15, 2009
Got fat and retired.
Heck of a ride when he was here, though.
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
I think he played in Mexico a few years back.
Heydude - May 15, 2009
Legally?
Oh wait, that only works the other way.
ralphie81 - May 15, 2009
Maybe, who knows?
Heydude - May 15, 2009
Article in the paper a few years ago, he was working for a family business.
Putting up letters on advertising signs, something like that. Said he was working out to get back into game shape. Sad story
Kermit. - May 15, 2009
I dunno, he was a "star" for a year at least.
More than most of us can say.
ralphie81 - May 15, 2009

msb - May 15, 2009
Wlad is a stud.
nickmo - May 15, 2009
As is Branyan.
nickmo - May 15, 2009
Isn't it nice how both Wlad and Clement are turning it around this year after being less than impressive last year?
Oh wait…
Well, 1 for 2 ain’t bad.
ralphie81 - May 15, 2009
Love Muscle!!!
Rally time!!!
Willie Mays Haze - May 15, 2009
Was going to comment about how we were ahead
But then figured we’d be behind again, so… yeah, that’s about right
cyberwulf - May 15, 2009
Yeah, I dunno what I was thinking
I wanted more runs and I’m so used to being down I automatically went to rally mode
Willie Mays Haze - May 15, 2009
It's quite understandable really.
nickmo - May 15, 2009
Why is Branyan batting 6th?
rickpo - May 15, 2009
Lester was the starter.
Wilder. - May 15, 2009
Ah, of course.
rickpo - May 15, 2009
lefty
Poochie - May 15, 2009
Same reason Gutz is batting 9th.
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
Don't hate them because they're beautiful, Wak!
Decatur - May 15, 2009
He's probably tired of watching him pluck his eyebrows in his locker all the time
Kermit. - May 15, 2009
Well, you know how Wak said he was going to have a ton of different lineups?
The problem is some of those lineups are going to suck. Like tonight’s.
Dear Wak,
Please make the lineup suck less, soon, mmmkay?
Yours Very Sincerely,
Me
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
Except for those 5 runs, and guys getting hits.
nickmo - May 15, 2009
We judge on process, not results.
No way Gutz should be batting 9th.
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
He's processed 2 hits, 2 RBIs and a SB in the #9 spot.
I like him batting in front of Ichiro better than Yuni.
ralphie81 - May 15, 2009
5 runs is good for us
BRKLN M'S - May 15, 2009
More Russell, please.
Decatur - May 15, 2009
Dammit.
nickmo - May 15, 2009
97 MPH down the middle!
Yes, more strikes!
ThundaPC - May 15, 2009
98!
BRKLN M'S - May 15, 2009
Yea!
ThundaPC - May 15, 2009
nasty
cyberwulf - May 15, 2009
Go back to the bench please
BRKLN M'S - May 15, 2009
Yay Good Mark Lowe is back
I was not a fan of the Evil Twin.
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
Yesyesyes keep that up.
redwolf75 - May 15, 2009
good lowe! good, good lowe!
cyberwulf - May 15, 2009
I am starting to gain confidence and I DONT LIKE IT
d0nkey - May 15, 2009
Because of the pending let down?
nickmo - May 15, 2009
no, he just has confidence issues
cyberwulf - May 15, 2009
;)
cyberwulf - May 15, 2009
Fair enough.
nickmo - May 15, 2009
That's the Mark Lowe I remember from the Grover Era.
First time post. This is the first Mariner game I’ve been able to watch in a week and Ichiro is making it fantastic.
AlexM - May 15, 2009
This isn't the first time "good" Mark Lowe has shown up.
His evil twin often reasserts himself a few pitches later.
redwolf75 - May 15, 2009
He's the one with the beard, right?
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
If you can call it that.
nickmo - May 15, 2009
Goatee, yeah
He also speaks in opposites. For instance last week after giving up a homerun evil Mark Lowe was heard to have said “Did not give up home run, good!”
Willie Mays Haze - May 15, 2009
Welcome to the Jungle of LL
Hope your survive the experience!
Willie Mays Haze - May 15, 2009
Bendy things are nice. Take heed, Morrow.
redwolf75 - May 15, 2009
Lowe'd!

cyberwulf - May 15, 2009
Oh my, wonderful.
BrianL - May 15, 2009
Sit Down!
Heydude - May 15, 2009
NICE! Varitek didn't have a chance after the three straight changes.
redwolf75 - May 15, 2009
hey, jason
you’re supposed to swing before the ball’s in the catcher’s mitt
cyberwulf - May 15, 2009
That 98 looks really fast after the 84 mph change!
BRKLN M'S - May 15, 2009
Late
BRKLN M'S - May 15, 2009
Wow, Derek Lowe doesn't look like a total princess
Poochie - May 15, 2009
err mark
Poochie - May 15, 2009
Wait for it..
d0nkey - May 15, 2009
Gameday says the second pitch was almost straight down the middle.
redwolf75 - May 15, 2009
I think you can get away with those type of pitches against Varitek.
Willie Mays Haze - May 15, 2009
:D :D :D
Oh, THAT is what good relief pitching is like.
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
Someone get Morrow a pen and paper
d0nkey - May 15, 2009
That ball was hit like 250 feet on a check swing!
BRKLN M'S - May 15, 2009
Holy crap, that was a sweet little inning right there.
Heydude - May 15, 2009
Jeez that was a great third strike call by Dave on that 98 mph heater
Kermit. - May 15, 2009
Don't bring in Morrow please
gregrabble - May 15, 2009
I'm guessing it'll be Aaardsma.
redwolf75 - May 15, 2009
Not enough A's
The correct spelling is Aaaaaaardsma. The more you know.
cyberwulf - May 15, 2009
Aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrr, matey.
msb - May 15, 2009
Can you say pitchforks and torches?
I don’t think Wak is going to change his mind again on this one. Brandon can have his extended spring training in a 7-2 game.
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
Based on every Seattle baseball article there is very little chance Wak will use him.
AlexM - May 15, 2009
Does Junior have a playing schedule?
It’d be somewhat of a bummer to drive a 6 hour round trip to catch a live game and for him to not be in the line-up.
JoeBlazer - May 15, 2009
Don't bother driving out if a lefty is starting.
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
But I'm sure Wak would pinch hit with him if a right-handed reliever came in.
rickpo - May 15, 2009
I'm pretty sure the version of the MLB Rules Wak has is missing the section on PH
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
He doesn't start against lefties
Poochie - May 15, 2009
LATE
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
That's not fair cause it's the first response on my screen
Poochie - May 15, 2009
He won't play against lefties. So try and catch the game when the M's are facing a righty.
MFAN - May 15, 2009
Thanks for the tip guys.
JoeBlazer - May 15, 2009
He sits against lefty starters fairly often.
nickmo - May 15, 2009
Word around the campfire is he's being platooned
Poochie - May 15, 2009
So is he Barnes or Elias?
Willie Mays Haze - May 15, 2009
Nice
Kermit. - May 15, 2009
Are you suggesting he might only play against RHP?
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
Obviously he only starts when a lefty is on the mound.
ermac - May 15, 2009
Churchill said that Griffey flat out refuses to be platooned
and as such won’t be if he is signed as a free agent
Poochie - May 15, 2009
Betancourt walked twice tonight? Seriously?
I can almost see Ichiro having two homeruns… that’s somehow pretty conceivable. Betancourt walking two times is not.
katal - May 15, 2009
The first one was quite a bit more impressive than the second.
But yea. Pretty amazing.
ThundaPC - May 15, 2009
Yeah, it's been heady times around these parts today.
Sanity and sobriety were questioned due to Yunis feats,
Willie Mays Haze - May 15, 2009
I hope that doesn't mean he has earned back playing time. His error earlier was painful.
AlexM - May 15, 2009
Aardsma is warming up.
Thank God.
nickmo - May 15, 2009
Aaardsma sighting imminent. Game terrifying.
redwolf75 - May 15, 2009
Agreed 100%
I miss Shawn Kelley
Willie Mays Haze - May 15, 2009
Nope.
Let’s recall JJ at one point was a RHP of little account. I like the idea of GMZ pulling a guy from the scrap heap and turning him into more shiny new prospects down the road.
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
Part of me believes his plan with Morrow, Fields, and Aumont is to make one a closer, trade him for a haul, and then repeat with the next of the three first round picks.
katal - May 15, 2009
He's still terrifying.
Aaron Campeau - May 15, 2009
Perceptions.
Ichiro’s last 2HR game was 2003.
sammy - May 15, 2009
Whoops. Reply fail.
sammy - May 15, 2009
I thought it had happened before
but didn’t want to bother checking. Good man.
katal - May 15, 2009
Check that. 2005.
sammy - May 15, 2009
Because we need more fastballs from our closer.
Willie Mays Haze - May 15, 2009
At least he can locate on occasion...
Who else do you want?
nickmo - May 15, 2009
George Sheri-Oops nevermind
Rafael Sorian-No, nevermind that one too
I guess Aardsma will have to do.
Willie Mays Haze - May 15, 2009
Ryan Franklin says hello! He must be back on his vitamins
Kermit. - May 15, 2009
How could I forget about Franky?
What fun times we had!
Willie Mays Haze - May 15, 2009
He gave up a lot of homeruns, but they were all solo shots!
I loved that spin about as much as root canal
Kermit. - May 15, 2009
Franklin was on the radio this morning.
He is still baffled as to why he is no longer a Mariner.
msb - May 15, 2009
That's because the Mariners have plenty of closers
Poochie - May 15, 2009
Well IIRC he never did anything wrong while a Mariner. Whenever anything wrong happened, it was always someone else happened.
So he has a good point.
katal - May 15, 2009
Taking a hit for steroids sure didn't help, the M's sure seemed to frown on that under Bavasi
Kermit. - May 15, 2009
At any rate, the point simply was to point out that it was not Morrow.
nickmo - May 15, 2009
I got that
And while that’s nice, my point was that with Aarsdma in the game it will still be heart stoppingly good times.
Willie Mays Haze - May 15, 2009
Agreed.
nickmo - May 15, 2009
I love how they're bragging about how Yuniesky saw 18 pitches over four at-bats
katal - May 15, 2009
You know it's messed up when Yuni gets his own pitch counter.
ThundaPC - May 15, 2009
DTF!!!
Kermit. - May 15, 2009
Can i get a Funk Blast times 3!
AlexM - May 15, 2009
Did Hideo Nomo make a comeback?
Wilder. - May 15, 2009
uncanny
i was thinking the exact same thing
cyberwulf - May 15, 2009
I didn't realize that was Saito.
He looks like a blend of Matsuzaka and Nomo. For some reason I didn’t see it while he was a Dodger.
Wilder. - May 15, 2009
All the Japs look the same, eh?
Poochie - May 15, 2009
Dude, the windup!
cyberwulf - May 15, 2009
GUTZ!
ThundaPC - May 15, 2009
all right
let’s see whether 51 tries to jack another one
cyberwulf - May 15, 2009
Franklin!
katal - May 15, 2009
Insurance runs, now!
ThundaPC - May 15, 2009
Three homeruns is most impressive than two.

ThundaPC - May 15, 2009
Booooooo
Kermit. - May 15, 2009
BOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
Decatur - May 15, 2009
Come on Lopez.
AlexM - May 15, 2009
Double-Steal?
Mr.Orange - May 15, 2009
Let's go for a
Bases-clearing double.
ThundaPC - May 15, 2009
I sense a double steal coming on.
JoeBlazer - May 15, 2009
Loafie looks terrible.
BrianL - May 15, 2009
Someone needs to tell him
that he’s still playing in the WBC.
ralphie81 - May 15, 2009
He stops the hitch in his windup with men on base?
Kermit. - May 15, 2009
Radio only, so I can't see him
Kermit. - May 15, 2009
yeah, looks pretty normal now
cyberwulf - May 15, 2009
If he didn't I could steal a base off him.
Aaron Campeau - May 15, 2009
So you got footspeed, eh?
Are you faster than this man?
Willie Mays Haze - May 15, 2009
Lopez.
Poor hitter.
katal - May 15, 2009
That was pitiful. Fuck.
AlexM - May 15, 2009
GO BACK TO MEXICO YOU BRAIN DEAD MEXICAN
Poochie - May 15, 2009
We have a Mexican on this team?
I have a reason to root for them now!!
Willie Mays Haze - May 15, 2009
Is this some kind of meme, calling Loafie a Mexican?
It’s pretty lame if it is.
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
Yeah well it's probably not going anywhere.
Aaron Campeau - May 15, 2009
You mean it's not on a boat?
Willie Mays Haze - May 15, 2009
Where's Griffey?
ThundaPC - May 15, 2009
Why not PH Griffey
gregrabble - May 15, 2009
Why wouldn't you pinch hit Junior for Sweeney right now?
BrianL - May 15, 2009
Not allowed
Poochie - May 15, 2009
Plus, we have the lead so I'd save griffey for someone truly terrible
Poochie - May 15, 2009
But we're playing at home.
katal - May 15, 2009
It is allowed, you just lose the DH.
Wilder. - May 15, 2009
A PH for the DH IS the new DH.
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
Is it?
I thought you lost it.
Wilder. - May 15, 2009
Only if DH takes the field.
ThundaPC - May 15, 2009
Good clarification.
Wilder. - May 15, 2009
You only lose the DH if he plays in the field.
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
And Griffey has to pitch!
ralphie81 - May 15, 2009
No, because we're at home and we make the rules.
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
I doubt most of the home crowd would mind seeing Griffey on the mound.
ralphie81 - May 15, 2009
Poochie - May 15, 2009
And the penalties are extreme.
rickpo - May 15, 2009
Jesus, Loafie.
I think Wak needs to train the Marine sniper who threatens to shoot Yuni if he swings at crap on you.
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
More runners left on.
Sweet.
Heydude - May 15, 2009
Well, that sort of sucked
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
Please Aardsma
Can’t overstate how badly we need this
gregrabble - May 15, 2009

Mr.Orange - May 15, 2009

nickmo - May 15, 2009

AlexM - May 15, 2009
Mike Sweeney is a waste of space.
redwolf75 - May 15, 2009

But I like him. Even more so since he’s from the NW. Wish he played for the M’s.
JoeBlazer - May 15, 2009
Someone fetch me my pilss
Aaron Campeau - May 15, 2009
Little nitro under the tongue?
Kermit. - May 15, 2009

I think Wak took off early tonight
ermac - May 15, 2009
Nonono, throw strikes.
BrianL - May 15, 2009

Jeff Sullivan - May 15, 2009
ZOMG No Politics!!!!
Willie Mays Haze - May 15, 2009

Jeff Sullivan - May 15, 2009
They're winning and I'm here to watch them!
Jeff Sullivan - May 15, 2009
One out! Get your hopes up!
Jeff Sullivan - May 15, 2009
Their winning because Kirsten left before the Ichiro homer barrage
Poochie - May 15, 2009
Uh oh!
Jeff Sullivan - May 15, 2009

Poochie - May 15, 2009
Wait what the hell
Jeff Sullivan - May 15, 2009
And Yuni has two walks!
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
Boring after he drew the first one
Jeff Sullivan - May 15, 2009
Wrong.
Two Yuni walks in a game is rarer than a cycle.
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
I almost want them to lose now
JLC - May 15, 2009
Leading 3 games in a row in the 9th!
ThundaPC - May 15, 2009

Jeff Sullivan - May 15, 2009
He was motivated by your ostrich picture
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
He settled down after the first 3 innings. Started controlling the curveball and changeup after the 3rd.
AlexM - May 15, 2009
That's with the Loafie botched DP with the bases full!
Poochie - May 15, 2009
More curveballs please!
Mr.Orange - May 15, 2009

AlexM - May 15, 2009

Torrid - May 15, 2009
97 mph!
redwolf75 - May 15, 2009
Hey Morrow, take some notes.

Heydude - May 15, 2009

Wilder. - May 15, 2009

JoeBlazer - May 15, 2009
Aardsma!
AKA Lucky Morrow!
JLC - May 15, 2009
Can you really blame the last two games on bad luck?
katal - May 15, 2009
You can
You’d be wrong doing it. But you can.
Willie Mays Haze - May 15, 2009
Not entirely, no.
JLC - May 15, 2009
ICHI!!!
AlexM - May 15, 2009

redwolf75 - May 15, 2009
ONE MORE YOU WEIRD MOTHERFUCKER!
BRKLN M'S - May 15, 2009

Wilder. - May 15, 2009

Heydude - May 15, 2009

BRKLN M'S - May 15, 2009

Aaron Campeau - May 15, 2009
Your ass must've been nervous about that one.
ralphie81 - May 15, 2009
I started laughing
Aaron Campeau - May 15, 2009
Damnation!
I hate JD Drew!!!
Willie Mays Haze - May 15, 2009
Well fuck
gregrabble - May 15, 2009
3 balls creamed, one is a hit.
AlexM - May 15, 2009
Every now and then, when I have hope, the Mariners graciously stomp it into the ground and scold me for being so foolish.
Torrid - May 15, 2009
Drew did that against Felix once too
Jeff Sullivan - May 15, 2009
I love JD Drew!
Poochie - May 15, 2009
I'm not sure I can stomach three straight games with final inning blown leads.
ThundaPC - May 15, 2009
I wonder how often Papelbon masturbates per nine innings
Jeff Sullivan - May 15, 2009
You think he'd have a sore one if it was more than twice
Poochie - May 15, 2009
You say this as you believe he stops
Paps never stops with the masturbation
Willie Mays Haze - May 15, 2009
Sounds like he has some erectile dysfunction
Poochie - May 15, 2009
There is nothing dysfunctional about Paps!
You just wish your closer was as good as him. NO ONE DENIES THIS!!!!
Willie Mays Haze - May 15, 2009
No team has suffa'd like the Boston faithful has!
katal - May 15, 2009
Owuh fans areuh the only true fans!

ermac - May 15, 2009
Where the hell did that miss?
BrianL - May 15, 2009
Obvious strike
Jeff Sullivan - May 15, 2009
Whew
Kermit. - May 15, 2009
I hate umpires so much
Just had dejavu to last season, a call like that cost us a game
gregrabble - May 15, 2009
I wish that happened to us one additional time last season.
katal - May 15, 2009
That was in the strikezone.
ThundaPC - May 15, 2009
BIG swing and a miss.
One more strike!
Heydude - May 15, 2009

AlexM - May 15, 2009
WE WON A GAME HOLY FUCK
DON’T SCARE ME LIKE THAT AARDSMA
gregrabble - May 15, 2009
Jesus Fucking Christ
Aaron Campeau - May 15, 2009
I couldn't have imagined a more hilarious way to win the game
Jeff Sullivan - May 15, 2009
Morrow walking the bases full and then striking out the side on 3-2 counts.
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
Funnier if it goes off Wlad's glove
JLC - May 15, 2009
I said win the game
Jeff Sullivan - May 15, 2009
Fuck my reading comprehension
JLC - May 15, 2009
And then we throw out the tying run at home plate.
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
I was hoping it's go!
Poochie - May 15, 2009
it'd*
Poochie - May 15, 2009
WOOT!
Thank goodness we are not playing at Fenway!
Wilder. - May 15, 2009
wow
SafeCo I love thee
sammy - May 15, 2009
That was literally a few feet from a loss
JLC - May 15, 2009
OMG, WE WON!
MFAN - May 15, 2009
SUCK MY BIG BLACK DICK LESTER
Poochie - May 15, 2009
I'm pretty sure Poochie wasn't this vulgar
Jeff Sullivan - May 15, 2009
You Americans and your double standards for violence
Poochie - May 15, 2009
I thought he died on his way back to his home planet
JLC - May 15, 2009
Then who the fuck is this impostor
Jeff Sullivan - May 15, 2009
And Jon Lester's brainfart cost the Red Sox the game.
ThundaPC - May 15, 2009
Nice job Aardsma.
Don’t ever scare us like that again.
Heydude - May 15, 2009
Seems likely
Aaron Campeau - May 15, 2009
Oh it will happen again.
ThundaPC - May 15, 2009
Sad but true.
Heydude - May 15, 2009
Remember Dave's heart, fellas.
msb - May 15, 2009
DAVE'S heart?
Aaron Campeau - May 15, 2009
Grammar police arrest this man
He talks in maths. He buzzes like a fridge. He’s like a detuned radio.
Willie Mays Haze - May 15, 2009
what
Aaron Campeau - May 15, 2009
nevermind
Willie Mays Haze - May 15, 2009
Is that a Devo lyric?
Kermit. - May 15, 2009
Radiohead
I thought AC was giving MSB crap about use of the apostophe and I was commenting on that. But I was wrong.
Willie Mays Haze - May 15, 2009
Nope, David Aardsma makes my ticker tock.
Aaron Campeau - May 15, 2009
Me too, me too.
Aliens is still a better movie than Alien.
Willie Mays Haze - May 15, 2009
Did you hear him on the radio?! "My heart... heart can't take it!" Great call too, ran that right to the limit
Kermit. - May 15, 2009
Can't wait for the archive now.
Wilder. - May 15, 2009
He had some good lines tonight, really on his game.
Kermit. - May 15, 2009
Can we credit Safeco with the save?
csiems - May 15, 2009
Great, so can we trade Aardsma for some good players now?
Since he’s a closer?
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
Jeff Sullivan - May 15, 2009
If only you could cut the zoom
Poochie - May 15, 2009
Clearly he's boosting his trade value.
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
Fuck
Don’t let “Larry the Cable Guy” anywhere near the Mariners. No no no.
katal - May 15, 2009
Too late.
Although he does bat left-handed.
ThundaPC - May 15, 2009
We do need some left-handed bats.
Heydude - May 15, 2009
As I said, if he can hit RHP, he's better than half the starting lineup.
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
Bingo, he might be worth the league min.
Heydude - May 15, 2009
Rally fag!
Jeff Sullivan - May 15, 2009
His presence didn't hurt.
Wilder. - May 15, 2009
For all we know Yuni would have walked three times.
But that hillbilly had to screw it all up.
katal - May 15, 2009
Ichiro is way too selfish
AlexM - May 15, 2009
Jaku gets the W!
Are we going to learn what a happy Jakubostrich looks like?
Decatur - May 15, 2009
.
ThundaPC - May 15, 2009
That's more of a gameface, I think.
Although I am unversed in the ways of ostrich emotion.
Decatur - May 15, 2009
or
msb - May 15, 2009
Heartwarming!
Decatur - May 15, 2009
That's how I envision Monster Island
Jeff Sullivan - May 15, 2009
Hey, baby....
msb - May 15, 2009
Holy shit we actually won this game?
JLC - May 15, 2009
According to the official scorer, yes.
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
Holy hairy fucking nut sacks
JLC - May 15, 2009
Bill Krueger just called Fenway a
“Little goofy park.”
Heydude - May 15, 2009
What I hate the most is that I absolutely love Fenway.
the Red Sox don’t deserve such a cool stadium.
katal - May 15, 2009
Fenway is not a real ballpark and they should be ashamed.
Aaron Campeau - May 15, 2009
He also did it with a Boston accent.
I wouldn’t take it too seriously.
ralphie81 - May 15, 2009
Nice mix of pitches from Aardsma
rickpo - May 15, 2009
Straight from the Establish the Fastball™ School of Pitching
Proud graduates: most of the Seattle Mariners
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
I approve of this trademark
Big Jared - May 15, 2009
Infinity percent more breaking balls than Morrow yesterday!
Jeff Sullivan - May 15, 2009
So you're saying it's a good thing?
Willie Mays Haze - May 15, 2009
I think he's saying 1/0 = ∞
rickpo - May 15, 2009
Which is a good thing, right?
Willie Mays Haze - May 15, 2009
It's better than losing the game after Brandon grooves them, yes.
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
Sweet!
Jeffs crazy maths hurt my head.
Willie Mays Haze - May 15, 2009
It's more a maths joke.
Because n/0 = ∞ for all n, so the result is the same no matter how many non-fastballs he threw. And, truth be told, as long as it was more than 0, However, 1 is not really all that much greater than 0. A very small change resulted in a huge percentage change.
elbows the ribs Get it? Get it?
rickpo - May 15, 2009
Yea...No, no I don't
So if he threw 2 breaking balls it was be 2x∞?
Willie Mays Haze - May 15, 2009
You and me both...
WHOOSH!
nickmo - May 15, 2009
Aardsma allowed as how he was a trifle amped coming into the inning to close against the Sox.
crap. New York Vinnie on the post game show?!?!
msb - May 15, 2009
I was just thinking the same thing
That man knows about nothing except eating. I was working the dessert cart in the suites once and he made the “I’ll take the whole cake just leave one piece” joke. I laughed and then he gave me a look like he was serious.
Willie Mays Haze - May 15, 2009
New York Vinny is making me dumber by listening to him.
Willie Mays Haze - May 15, 2009
As well as infinity less percent home runs!
eponymous_coward - May 15, 2009
Does GameDay ever say 2-Seam Fastball?
ThundaPC - May 15, 2009
Yes
Poochie - May 15, 2009
At least he's consistently hard
Big Jared - May 15, 2009
