A positive contribution from the lineup. That's not something you see every day.

Jackpot
abender20 - May 27, 2009
Barely!
Jeff Sullivan - May 27, 2009
wait what
Kirsten Schlewitz - May 27, 2009
Wow, the A’s couldn’t pull any of their usual BS magic tricks today.
So while Bedard is still pitching well. When and who do we trade him to?
OceanBird - May 27, 2009
You mean while Bedard is still healthy.
If we’re truly out of it a couple days before the deadline to a contending team of sorts maybe the Blue Jays or something…
Slurvey - May 27, 2009
Is it for sure we wont try to resign him?
coolconman - May 27, 2009
It's not even trying to resign him
Its him wanting to play here, which is probably near 0% chance.
Fin - May 27, 2009
Subject line, bitte.
Phil Hatzenbuehler - May 27, 2009
what
coolconman - May 27, 2009
bitte = German for "for fuck's sake use a subject line, asshole."
esoteric - May 27, 2009
Pretty much.
Phil Hatzenbuehler - May 27, 2009
Actually it means please which is much better than swearing at a new poster and calling him an asshole.
Aaron Campeau - May 27, 2009
(Gesundheit!)
PositivePaul - May 27, 2009
We trade Bedard on June 28th to the Phillies.
ThundaPC - May 27, 2009
For RAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUL Ibanez!
Wilder. - May 27, 2009
I don't care if he's second to Greinke in WAR - that gave me the shivers.
Decatur - May 27, 2009
Am I right to fear Bedard's lack of swinging strikes? It seems like it's been going on for his last few starts.
But his FB seems faster and his curve has looked majestic, so I am puzzled.
BrettJMiller - May 27, 2009
Why fear it. He's going to be gone soon.
Rudy4three - May 27, 2009
It might effect his trade value.
BrettJMiller - May 27, 2009
The only people who look at stats like that are the big SABR guys.
Like Epstein. It shouldn’t hurt much.
Coach Owens - May 27, 2009
I think you're mistaken, Coach.
There are a lot of smart teams out there now. If the GM isn’t a big SABR guy, he probably at least has a few guys under his wing who are.
Teej - May 27, 2009
Which is why we need to trade with the Giants, Mets, or Phillies ASAP.
Decatur - May 28, 2009
He had nine missed bats in his previous start. Just five in the before that, but 12 in the one before that.
I don’t think it means anything.
Matthew - May 27, 2009
And the A's make a lot of contact
Jeff Sullivan - May 27, 2009
Sounds good to me then.
How many did he miss in his first start against the A’s this year, just out of curiosity? Maybe that’s why today’s start seems less impressive to me; it seems like he missed a lot more then.
It’s crazy how a difference of 2-3 missed bats per game makes the game feel so different when watching.
BrettJMiller - May 27, 2009
He missed 12 the first time
but that lineup had Cust and Chavez in it.
Jeff Sullivan - May 27, 2009
Any idea how long that Branyan HR actually was?
I don’t know a good place to go to look for these kinda of things.
Zwakamatsu - May 27, 2009
Hittracker will probably have it up tomorrow.
Phil Hatzenbuehler - May 27, 2009

Phil Hatzenbuehler - May 27, 2009
I've heard Hittracker was up and stuff
but I had no idea there was already so much cool shit you can look at. That’s awesome.
Zwakamatsu - May 27, 2009
It really is pretty badass.
I highly recommend Greg Rybarczyk’s article in the 2009 THT annual that analyzes data from HitTracker. Fascinating stuff.
Teej - May 27, 2009
Branyan's dong:
True Distance: 426’
Standard Distance: 420’
Speed Off Bat: 106 mph
Apex: 120’
Branyan’s homer was only the 10th longest by true distance yesterday, and only the 12th fastest off the bat, but the apex was the highest.
Phil Hatzenbuehler - May 28, 2009
How does he even walk with a dong like that
OlSalty - May 28, 2009
He has very stout legs.
And a helluva strong back.
Phil Hatzenbuehler - May 28, 2009
The lesson is that if you give a ball massive hangtime while moving forward at a slower pace, it will still go a hell of a long ways
seattlebruin - May 28, 2009
And holy fuck, 120 feet?
That’s like a nine-iron to left-center
seattlebruin - May 28, 2009
I can't believe we won
Poochie - May 27, 2009
This team is unbelievable
Dewey N - May 27, 2009
I'm watching the replay on FSN right now.
A great game to win. I’m still finding it hard to believe how well the bottom of the line-up played offensively. I’m feeling joy. Branyan’s HR was beyond smacked. Ichiro kept his streak alive. Bedard was good. I know, we are playing the A’s but it’s sure fun to win.
Sinking Away - May 27, 2009
I really do want to do naughty naughty things to Russell Branyan.
What a fantastic pickup.
Fearless Frog - May 27, 2009
I couldn't agree more.
He’s exceptional. That home run went a long ways.
Sinking Away - May 27, 2009
Why the fuck did Rob Johnson have to have 2 doubles?
Mariner John - May 27, 2009
Because he's a gamer!
JLProck - May 27, 2009
He's lucky in a way that Beltre isn't.
Sinking Away - May 27, 2009
I just assumed the outfield was playing way in.
Teej - May 27, 2009
This game will be known for the rest of the year as the game that turned around the fortunes of the Mariner.
I like making wild, insane predicitons.
Seattle Rodiners - May 27, 2009
Catching a homerun hit by Russell Branyan cures your body of cancer.
CapSea - May 27, 2009
Brett had cancer?
Goose - May 27, 2009
He gets one credit.
Teej - May 27, 2009
How do you keep coming up with hilarious pictures to compliment the WE chart?
.Taylor - May 28, 2009
Talent?
