When we get done screaming, Graham and I will throw up some more stuff on this game. For now, AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Loved this game.

Also, for some reason, Wak is sounding a lot like a young Johnny Cash on the post-game show…

Games won legitimately thanks to Yuniesky Betancourt: -1

Games won thanks to the opposing defense unable to handle his degree of suck: 2

The bunt he put down against LAA was actually a good one,

as opposed to the crappy one today.

He's an interesting vortex of terrible.

Another example is when he and Brandon Inge (a fairly decent third baseman) traded errors in one of the Detroit games.
He’s the team’s black cat.

Interesting stance.

We should play him every game because his suck is only contagious to our opponents. Like selective Monkey flu. This is something that must be studied! The H3I1 strain.

Perhaps Yuni changing his jersey number every couple years is because the suck strain is mutating.
MY VOCAL CHORDS ARE ON FIRE
Mine too.

And I have the worst sunburn.

Yay! Joh has the highest WPA!
Apparently you had two words
25.

15-10 Chart. Plus the screaming commentary. But ONLY 25 words.

1025 if you include how much the picture is worth.
WOOOoOOoooooooo!
I don't know what I'm more amazed by:

1)Sweeney hitting a rocket out of Safeco
2)Johjima tying the game in the ninth with a homerun
3)Geren refusing to use his two best relievers to lock the game down thus allowing Gonzalez to throw 108 pitches in relief.

Just a crazy game

Holy shit I knew he threw a lot, but 108 pitches?
Apparently there were specific reasons each guy in the As bullpen couldn't pitch

I don’t remember all of them, other than Zeigler has the flu.

It was bizaree how Bailey kept getting up and throwing, then sitting down, then running

back to the mound and throwing again, then sitting down again.

That was spectacular.
THATS IT YOU GUYS HAVE ME BACK IM MOVING BACK IN WITH YOU I LOVE YOU LIKE I NEVER LEFT YOU
TOO THE BED ROOM
I'd be more excited if Batista didn't lull me into a coma during the 13th inning.

Seriously, though, what an improbable win. This was a fitting payback for Oakland winning yesterday.

What do the red lines between 13 and 14 mean?

I’m assuming they mean something along the lines of “Go ahead and change the channel. This one’s over.” but I thought I’d ask.

Actually, the opposite

Those are high leverage situations, when the A’s took the lead, and then when the Mariners crawled back.

Leverage index. Red means it hit the maximum
IT'S OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND!
In the immortal words of sketch comedy masters The State

I love the outcome of this game so much I WANT TO DIP MY BALLS IN IT.

Ichiro

goes crazy. Doesn’t link directly, but click on “Lopez’s walk off single.”

Here's the direct link

For the lazy.
Morrow’s jumping makes me irrationally nervous.

OH NOES HE JUST SLIPPED A DISC DOING THAT
It looks like Morrow is getting a little

too excited with Mark Lowe, if you get my gist (23-26 seconds).

Morrow DOES look excited, now doesn't he?!

Everybody is doing a little hippity-hoppity out there and I love it. An exhausted hippity-hoppity, but it’s great.

Lowe and Morrow star in...

Control Problems

They’re having problems controlling… their lust.

Lowe seems to be the

unwitting recipient. Too bad it wasn’t Gutz.

Goddammit MLB.com video refuses to work for some stupid reason.
UGH

I think you guys have run this into the ground

For once in my life I'm actually being serious.

When I try to watch video highlights on mlb.com, this is what I see.

I save my sarcastic responses for serious inquiries
Yea that was a nice little hop
What a trial by fire for Jason Vargas, too.

Bet he has to feel like a million billion bucks to make this his Major League re-debut.

Does Jason Vargas have eye shadow or something because if I saw him walking around the streets I'd be reaching for a 12 gauge shotgun cause he looks like a zombie.
Definitely has Richard Alpert-itis from LOST.
Holy crap you're right. That's creepy.
Honestly it looks like he might have been hungover

Maybe partied last night after being called up?

No. Trust me, I've seen him before, back when he was pitching for the Mets.

He ALWAYS looks like that.

Almost a Ray Liotta sort of look to him.

Must be a big Field o’ Dreams fan.

JASON VARGAS IS AL CAPONE

Here’s my first try with my screen caps from MLB.tv. I’ll post a modified version of the original from the Game Thread below too.

Jesus it really is a good resemblance.
JASON VARGAS IS AL CAPONE PART 2

I was there!!!

I was at the Safe for ALL 15 innings baby! Yes! Thge most amazing game…wow…just wow!

Kudos on not giving up and leaving

As exciting as it was to watch, must have been 10x as exciting actually being there

Yeah

Man I thought we were done in the 13th, but man that was just awesome! Lots of people left, I am glad I didn’t.

Make some noise next time
You can see me in they Sweeney home run clip.

I am the white blob above the “7” in 710 ESPN radio.

I pick the worst games to miss.
Don't feel bad

My dumb ass scheduled a hair appointment today, figuring this mess would be over by 4, at the latest.

Oops.

The Jason Vargas hairdo is dreamy. Did you get that one? It's in style

A little dab'll do ya.
Did you end up getting the haircut?
Yeah

But I waited until the last possible minute to get out of the damn car…when they tied in the 14th.
Fuck I’m lame. :p

Meanwhile I got to miss yesterday night's game.
Definitely make an effort to listen to Dave's call of the bottom of the 15th inning.
I don't have 20 to blow on Gameday premium

any links?

You don't have an MLB.tv subscription?

If you do, the radio games are free and archived fairly quickly. If not, I don’t really know how to help you.

This game was pretty terrible. Exciting, yes. But the quality of play

was pretty bad in my opinion.

True.

The Mariners probably didn’t deserve to win. But then again they didn’t deserve to lose last night.

I feel worse. I watched 9 innings then left to go play tennis.

3 hours invested and no catharsis, just one giant blue balling. I guess I saw the Johjimer, but that was it.

So I guess Gio Gonzalez is about ready for the majors
So is Jason Vargas!!!

Who's A Dick For Slamming His Lap Top

And having it break on me and missing the comeback!

Me!

Guess who doesn't have control problems??

It's getting smaller every post!
FUCK YES BITCHES SO MUCH FOR PANTS
BYE BYE BELT
He's not wearing any below!!!

I have no idea what the logic behind this joke is, but I find it amusing nonetheless
How small can he get????
Why don't we make Yuni or Johnson smaller? So small they disappear forever.
Well this worries me.
Oh, it's because Robert moved back in.
I enjoyed this game

because it looked like we were going to lose, but then we won

I suppose it'd be asking too much for Texas to somehow blow their 5-1 lead.
Likely so.

In other news, it’s raining fire and fuck here.

Let's get them good and cocky -- and tired -- before they get annihilated on Felix Day.

Let’s not forget their team is cursed after taking Dearest Darling Alex.

Any ideas where to catch Dave's call of the Lopey-blast?
Would also love to hear this beauty.

Surely he lost his shit on air as much as I did on the couch.

Pretty much, yes.
It was every bit as awesome as you might hope.

He was ranking on the A’s outfield defense for four solid minutes afterwards.

This was an awesome win.

Do you kids still say that?

NO WAY

NO WAY

NO FUCKING WAY

YES WAY MOTHER FUCKER
TODAY WAS ONE OF THE MOST OUTSTANDING DAYS IN QUITE SOME TIMme
Saw the extra innings portion of the game on DVR.

……

Oh

My

God.

I was in a little bar in in Oakland drinking way too much Racer X

wearing M’s gear and was mocked a few times through out the evening, but when it was all over most the people just smiled at me and said this is going to be a fun season and good on me for sticking with my team. Sorry I’m a little too drunk and excited for punctuation

Who is that Vargas Kid? i like him
I'm glad you were able to escape Spokane.
Yeah I go from spokane to oakland. I really do miss spokane.
Yeah I suppose Oakland is awful. But Spokane ... ehhhhh
I'm not going to set here and defend Spokane, but I would live in Spokane over Seattle any day.

And Oakland really is not that bad. It all depends on where you live

Having lived in Spokane for the last 6 months I can say

FUUUUUCK this statement. Spokane has nothing NOTHING on Seattle. Except the meth, and the pregnant teenage moms.

You got it man. I'm in Spo-fuckistan also.
It has an amazing river. Access to amazing wild places more Mt. biking within ten mins. of down town than anywhere on the planet. Rock climbing with in mins.
Sea>River.
Not if you like to white water kayak and fly fish, but to each there own there.
My god, I just got back from this game.

Me and my brother basically stayed the whole 15 innings. The ending was a little anti-climatic, my god fucking damn, the bottom of the 13th was so fucking intense. We were wearing our rally caps from basically the bottom of the 8th, and it seemed to have worked.

Man, I love this team. Don’t go breaking my heart now, Mariners.

Oh don't worry, they will.
I know

But both of the games I went to see in person so far this year have been fucking incredible!

I thought both Beltre and Johjima's errors should have been charged to

Muscles and Lopez, respectively. Both throws short-hopped, but they were pretty much on target and were fairly routine picks that the receivers just missed.

Our team cannot handle short hops clearly.
WE FUCKING WON THIS GAME
HOW
WE SCORED MORE RUNS THAN THEM
HOW
WE GOT PEOPLE ON BASE AND THEY WERE ABLE TO CROSS HOME PLATE MORE OFTEN THAN THE OPPOSING TEAM
Why do I get the feeling that this is going to end up in the meme graveyard by year's end...
I FEEL AS THOUGH PERHAPS YOU ARE TAKING THE QUESTION A BIT TOO LITERALLY
I AM SORRY. I AM UNABLE TO MODULATE EMOTION, VOLUME OR CADENCE.
Ahhh, a loss of the proprioception sense.

My sympathies.

THANK YOU.
Very polarizing

Four guys with a 29% WPA or greater and eight with a -9% or worse.

Why did they keep showing Lopez on camera in the 9th?
Foreshadowing
I was screaming at my tv after every pitch for the last 3 innings of this game

So great.

Y'all are welcome.

I was working and paid attention to the beginning. Didn’t turn it on again til extras, when Oakland went ahead 6-4. Turned it off, thinking it was over. Received text messages that it was tied and called my dad to find out what happened. As I was on the phone, Vargas walked someone. I hung up. And we won!

Superstitious? Yes, but I don’t care, and Jeff should miss more games.

Deal!
It's almost as if you think you are too good for us.
It's almost like you're summoning BrianL to say something creepy here
Graham's recap took two and a half hours to write
I finished writing at 3am this morning!
How many SBN sites actually offer recaps?
Recaps or quality recaps?
We hold ourselves to a much higher standard than most of SBN
I cannot wait to make bank on the free agent market once we're done with these damn six years of club control.
Ottawa is a small market blog
Only two years until I hit arbitration
