Larry Stone, bring in da news!
The Mariners have activated relief pitcher Roy Corcoran, who has been on the disabled list since April 30 with a strained neck. Corcoran, for now, will take the roster spot of catcher Rob Johnson, who was placed on the bereavement list. No details yet available, except that it's a family emergency.
Righteous.
I hope whatever the emergency is, it resolves itself well. I may vehemently dislike Rob Johnson's current skill level and the praise for his defense, but I do not wish harm upon random other people just because they know Rob Johnson. I bet he's a very nice fellow in fact.

Montanans are generally lovely people.

Honest, officer! I was just helpin' the sheep over the fence.
abender20 - June 13, 2009
Absolutely they are.
royalcurve - June 13, 2009
I'd say I'm not a dick.
SethGrandpa - June 13, 2009
I like Rob Johnson as a person
I just hate him as a ballplayer
gregrabble - June 13, 2009
Have you met Rob Johnson?
Matthew - June 13, 2009
I have
barabuski - June 13, 2009
I'm basing this mainly off of interviews I've seen
Also, there’s just no way someone with that smile could not be friendly

Bundy's is more sincere
abender20 - June 13, 2009
In fairness he was quite friendly.
Aaron Campeau - June 13, 2009
Except for the whole "I'm gonna kill you, bitch!" attitude.
JLProck - June 13, 2009
That came later.
Aaron Campeau - June 13, 2009
Rob's still looks so much more innocent and sweet
gregrabble - June 13, 2009
I think he smiles like a cop.
Aaron Campeau - June 13, 2009
Rob just looks like the kind of guy that's always first to offer you a hug when you're sad
gregrabble - June 13, 2009
So does Bundy!
And he was!
Aaron Campeau - June 13, 2009
But then he murders you, if you're a woman
gregrabble - June 13, 2009
Maybe "family emergency" means "they found my family's bodies."
Aaron Campeau - June 13, 2009
If that turns out to be the case I take back anything nice I ever said about his personality.
gregrabble - June 13, 2009
Or at least his family found all the dead hookers.
abender20 - June 13, 2009
Perhaps he's bereaving the fact that he sucks
Jeff Sullivan - June 13, 2009
His Mother in Law was killed in traffic accident.
thewyrm - June 13, 2009
Suck
Aaron Campeau - June 13, 2009
Being a ballplayer would be hard when it comes to things like this.
His wife and their infant were in Seattle and now she and the baby are flying to Texas alone where Rob will meet them.
I also have a job that keeps me from my family for weeks at a time and this is always my fear. That something terrible will happen while I am not there to help. I hope he spends as much time with his wife as she needs.
thewyrm - June 13, 2009
Well that's quite a bit less funny
Jeff Sullivan - June 13, 2009
Lockhorns could probably make it funny.
Aaron Campeau - June 13, 2009
I still think it's funny
Graham MacAree - June 13, 2009
You should have been a government assassin.
thewyrm - June 13, 2009
How do you know he isn't?
This baseball thing is probably a cover.
Wilder. - June 13, 2009
So Josh Willingham's brother also died in a car crash last night and he is on the BL.
Per ESPN
How crazy would it be if both incidents were actually the same? Sad day for both families.
Wilder. - June 13, 2009
I have met Robby several times...
He’s a friggin’ great human being. It’s hard hard hard for me to root against him on the field, it really is. As was mentioned earlier in the thread – he lost his mother-in-law in a car accident. This is crushing news for everyone. Every time I hear of a traffic fatality it hits me extra hard (since my wife’s a nationally-recognized expert in traffic safety), but to bridge into baseball yet again — ugh.
Take your time, Robby. Be there for everyone. Live is waaay more important than baseball.
