Should Wak consider playing Branyan in LF to get Carp’s lefty bat in the lineup against some RHPs? that would give us Branyan, Carp, Ichiro, and Griffey as lefties.
Not much either. I'm going off of what I read from Baseball America and the like on that.
I’m not asserting these opinions of mine about these three players’ speed and defense particularly strongly, either. It’s just a few impressions I got from scouting reports I saw and watching them play a few games.
I could only imagine he means looking for a pitch in one particular location and not swinging unless it's right there. Luckily "not right there" was outside of the strikezone. Or something.
Winning is what you watch games for, and now you are winning, you gotta do things to keep winning— if you trade away Bedard or Washburn who is going to pitch to keep you winning?!?
Virgin territory you say?
Kirk - June 21, 2009
You'll fit right in.
Matthew - June 21, 2009
Oh snap
Robert - June 21, 2009
Now what man would want her?
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
Sad.
royalcurve - June 21, 2009
This game is putting me to sleep
abender20 - June 21, 2009
Carp!
gregrabble - June 21, 2009
Carp!
AlexM - June 21, 2009
CARP!
Fuckmikereilly - June 21, 2009
I'm liking Carp, we should keep him around for awhile.
Heydude - June 21, 2009
What a jar of mayonnaise
Kermit. - June 21, 2009
Ah the sexy place
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
The Mets are playing Daniel Murphy and his .688 OPS at first base.
Matthew - June 21, 2009
And JJ Putz is injured.
marinerdan - June 21, 2009
I'm curious what Miguel Cairo's was last year.
Kirk - June 21, 2009
.646
gregrabble - June 21, 2009
Carp Carp Carp
abender20 - June 21, 2009
Congrats on seemingly being the only person to get it.
Matthew - June 21, 2009
Joke about gold medal in the Special Olympics.
abender20 - June 21, 2009
And we run out sweenye with his .657 OPS at DH
forte40 - June 21, 2009
That's higher than most of our starting lineup
Fuckmikereilly - June 21, 2009
Felix threw nothing but outside FB to Clark all day
I wonder if this is everyone’s approach or just our own wunderkind’s genius gameplan. Seems like a terrible idea to me. Goose?
Bearskin Rugburn - June 21, 2009
Shrug
Clark’s old and he sucks. Seems like you could just go right after him to me. I’ve never really noticed pitchers pitching a specific way against him.
Goose - June 21, 2009
God I hate Sweeney.
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
VOTE JUNIOR!!
forte40 - June 21, 2009
Sweeney is great in the clubhouse.
marinerdan - June 21, 2009
Well that was much worse than taking that ball.
Kirk - June 21, 2009
Sweeney is a waste of roster space.
Heydude - June 21, 2009
Guti blast, now.
AlexM - June 21, 2009
Sweeney is suffocating this team.
russak - June 21, 2009
Gutz!
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
We've had a lot of offense for just one run.
Matthew - June 21, 2009
GUTZ!!!!
I wish Sweeney had struck out
gregrabble - June 21, 2009
Everyone gets along much better after a late inning DP in a close game
Bearskin Rugburn - June 21, 2009
We can't just DFA Sweeney?
Humongo - June 21, 2009
He's not Griffey, so why not?
russak - June 21, 2009
The organization clearly likes something about him outside of his ability to play baseball.
abender20 - June 21, 2009
He had a fan at Friday's game
I took a photo because I was so surprised
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
I like Mike Sweeney
Matthew - June 21, 2009
Thats great he is likable, but can he play?
forte40 - June 21, 2009
I can't imagine you waving a sign to proclaim this however
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
I don't advertise.
Matthew - June 21, 2009
That's too bad because I'm sure you could earn some extra cash that way
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
Depends how much you want to extend your penis size.
Matthew - June 21, 2009
Me personally?
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
Funny story!
Robert - June 21, 2009
lame
Poochie - June 22, 2009
Seems like a good dude.
abender20 - June 21, 2009
Really nice guy, and great leader in the clubhouse.
Lousy baseball player.
Heydude - June 21, 2009
Leadership.
Someone had to fill the WB grittyness role.
Craig Powers - June 21, 2009
His contract is written so that he is automatically released by the M's if they DFA him, I think.
Whereas Shelton signed a minor league contract with us.
Decatur - June 21, 2009
Thanks for your offense, Sweeney you dick whistle
abender20 - June 21, 2009
Thanks Sweeney,
that would have been a run.
marinerdan - June 21, 2009
Maybe.
marinerdan - June 21, 2009
Gutz Gutz Gutz
Fuck you Byrnes
Fuckmikereilly - June 21, 2009

gregrabble - June 21, 2009
Wlads GD photo just says giant mole to me
Kermit. - June 21, 2009
Why is Sweeney still on our team?
Can anyone explain that?
Humongo - June 21, 2009
Why not?
ThundaPC - June 21, 2009
Question:
Should Wak consider playing Branyan in LF to get Carp’s lefty bat in the lineup against some RHPs? that would give us Branyan, Carp, Ichiro, and Griffey as lefties.
Branyan also seems servicable at corner OF: 0.5 UZR/150 in 54 games 2006 (-61.8 UZR/150 in 13 games in 2007, but still).
Decatur - June 21, 2009
I really don't see that going well.
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
Would Carp at LF be better?
Probably no though.
Fuckmikereilly - June 21, 2009
I know Carp played a little LF in Tacoma, maybe he could play there?
The idea of Russ in LF scares me a little bit.
Heydude - June 21, 2009
Branyan runs a good deal better than Carp.
Decatur - June 21, 2009
This coming from someone who believes Justin Upton has average speed.
Wilder. - June 21, 2009
I haven't watched Upton play much, so I'll freely admit I could be wrong about that. How fast is he?
Also, I didn’t say Branyan had good speed. He’s just faster than Carp.
Decatur - June 21, 2009
And how much have you seen Carp play?
Wilder. - June 21, 2009
Not much either. I'm going off of what I read from Baseball America and the like on that.
I’m not asserting these opinions of mine about these three players’ speed and defense particularly strongly, either. It’s just a few impressions I got from scouting reports I saw and watching them play a few games.
Decatur - June 21, 2009
Branyan is probably faster, Carp just has played more LF recently.
Heydude - June 21, 2009
Suck it Byrnes.
Goose - June 21, 2009
I have found evidence that Eric Byrnes indulges in, uh...
extracurricular activities. He is, perhaps, the greatest pirate hunter in the world.

Graham MacAree - June 21, 2009
That's who he looked like!
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
This is so incredibly amusing.
Wilder. - June 21, 2009
This feels like the Sounders-DCU game.
With Aards out, I would really like several dozen more runs.
Matthew - June 21, 2009
Wlad again!
Goose - June 21, 2009
WLAD!!!!!!!!!!!!
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
Holy shit another one!
gregrabble - June 21, 2009

Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009

BrianL - June 21, 2009

Craig Powers - June 21, 2009
Balentien would have won the Cubs a World Series title.
Matthew - June 21, 2009
Two times.
abender20 - June 21, 2009
I hate our fans so much
Graham MacAree - June 21, 2009
The dude on the right actually made an effort to get out of the way.
Shocking.

Good job laying off that pitch
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
Even though he wasn't sure about it, I'm glad to see him trying.
abender20 - June 21, 2009

Robert - June 21, 2009

Matthew - June 21, 2009
Every now and then
Matthew - June 21, 2009
Because I got a little bit lonely
Matthew - June 21, 2009
And Felix wasn't coming around
Matthew - June 21, 2009
Lahair might however
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
I really doubt that given our plethora of competent first basemen and left-handed DHs
Matthew - June 21, 2009
Oh no he didn't.
abender20 - June 21, 2009
I did not.
royalcurve - June 21, 2009

But then again I am always optimistic about young players.
Kirk - June 21, 2009
I did, that fucker could still pitch smarter
Kermit. - June 21, 2009
He's still retarded
Graham MacAree - June 21, 2009
A retard with a ginormous mastodon cock still has a ginormous mastodon cock
Robert - June 21, 2009
He may not know how to use that giant mastadon cock, however.
Kirk - June 21, 2009
He could probably stand to vary his routine every once in awhile
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
Wouldn't want it to get boring.

Of course, Robert is probably easy to please
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009

Robert - June 21, 2009
Not all of us like penis as much as you do
Graham MacAree - June 21, 2009

Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
I can't wait till we use this ironically
Robert - June 21, 2009
You can't always just try to force it in there as hard as possible.
It’s good to vary your speed.
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
The girl is bitch if she doesn't recognize the honor she has been bestowed.

Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009

gregrabble - June 21, 2009
That was sort of close when he popped up actually.
Kirk - June 21, 2009
Why do they even bother sending him?
abender20 - June 21, 2009
Fuck.
Fuckmikereilly - June 21, 2009

Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
Why no pink bats for fathers day?
forte40 - June 21, 2009

Is gameday premium even worth it?
Kermit. - June 21, 2009
It's neat.
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
I think you can.
I wouldn’t pay for it, though. But I get it with my MLB.TV, so…
Wilder. - June 21, 2009
I'd say no - the best gameday stuff is all free.
Decatur - June 21, 2009
The heat maps and instant highlights are cool, though.

mark sobba - June 21, 2009
Don't expect that call up to the show any time soon.
HA! Zing.
thewyrm - June 21, 2009
I will stick to amature play.
You know what they say: Anyone can hit a home run in the batting cages but it takes a special person to hit it with 30,000 people watching.
mark sobba - June 21, 2009
Seems like that should be followed with a high-five and a chest bump

joof - June 21, 2009
They better get Branyan and/or Beltre in there to pinch hit at some point.
gregrabble - June 21, 2009
Apparently Branyan is only available in an emergency
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
I'd say this qualifies. Break the glass and get the Emergency Muscle out.
Decatur - June 21, 2009
What constitutes an emergency?

gregrabble - June 21, 2009
And that right there

skywaker9 - June 21, 2009
What?
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
That they allowed an infield hit
Then f-ed up the play too…
skywaker9 - June 21, 2009
Well for one they don't suck and for two they're defense is good.
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
their
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009

Bad luck and the NL West is better than the AL West
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009

gregrabble - June 21, 2009
Ahahahaha we're going to break Schoeneweis
Kermit. - June 21, 2009
Worked Friday
Branyan’s HR opening the floodgates…
skywaker9 - June 21, 2009
I think he is already broken.
msb - June 21, 2009
What he's a lefty specialist? I thought he was a one inning set up guy
Kermit. - June 21, 2009
The D Backs are treating him as a specialist
If you remember he pitched to Branyan only Friday and after Russel took him deep he was out…
skywaker9 - June 21, 2009
He missed so much time, I'm guessing they are trying to ease him back in.
msb - June 21, 2009

AlexM - June 21, 2009
Apparently it's his wedding day.
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
What a Rauch...
skywaker9 - June 21, 2009
Byrnes as point guard, Sims?
Decatur - June 21, 2009
If Griffey is available for pinch hitting duties why the fuck aren't they using him here?
gregrabble - June 21, 2009
This is a perfect time to use him.
Heydude - June 21, 2009
Not really.
PH penalty and Griffey is hurt-ish.
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
Didn't know he was still hurt, gotcha.
Heydude - June 21, 2009
Nasty skin rash, that.
msb - June 21, 2009

gregrabble - June 21, 2009
Fly ball fly ball fly ball fly ball no DP.
Fuckmikereilly - June 21, 2009
I'd take a DP if it scored the run.
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
DP is okay.
As long as the run scores.
Wilder. - June 21, 2009
Gutz, let's do it here.
Sinking Away - June 21, 2009
3-0, your pitch come in up.
Sinking Away - June 21, 2009
They're conceding the run for the DP?
Decatur - June 21, 2009
Yup, good strategy
Have to trust your offense…
skywaker9 - June 21, 2009
Please get a guy home from third with less than 2 outs
AlexM - June 21, 2009
How bout one of those homeruns, Gutz?
ThundaPC - June 21, 2009
This isn't PetCo.
marinerdan - June 21, 2009
3-0. God I love him.
Decatur - June 21, 2009
Oh snap
gregrabble - June 21, 2009
TAKE TAKE TAKE TAKE
Wilder. - June 21, 2009
Mash this next pitch
gregrabble - June 21, 2009
You better not K.
ThundaPC - June 21, 2009
Well that'll do.
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009

BrianL - June 21, 2009

royalcurve - June 21, 2009

Kermit. - June 21, 2009
CAAAAAAAAAAAAARP!
Wilder. - June 21, 2009
So, it was all Bob Melvin's fault, huh?
msb - June 21, 2009
I'll take it!
Decatur - June 21, 2009
I'LL TAKE IT!
gregrabble - June 21, 2009
Alrighty then.
ThundaPC - June 21, 2009
WOO HOO!
GUTZ!
Heydude - June 21, 2009
Awesome.
royalcurve - June 21, 2009
That'll work!
AlexM - June 21, 2009
GUTI it worked!
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
Could have been better, but I'll take it.
Sinking Away - June 21, 2009
Keep it going!
ThundaPC - June 21, 2009
Sinking Away - June 21, 2009
Hit-and-run
Wilder. - June 21, 2009
So,
Texas lost. Yay.
marinerdan - June 21, 2009

Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009

Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
Nice Yuni!
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
GRIFFEY
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009

AlexM - June 21, 2009

abender20 - June 21, 2009

ThundaPC - June 21, 2009

Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
GRIFFEY TIME!
Heydude - June 21, 2009
GIMME SOME OF THAT OLE TIME RELIGION!
Wilder. - June 21, 2009
thank you
mark sobba - June 21, 2009
Wasn't that lead up and HR call beautiful?
Kermit. - June 21, 2009
It was perfect.
Much like Rizza lead up call on Boone and Cameron’s back-to-back homeruns, back-to-back times on May 2, 2002.
Wilder. - June 21, 2009
I don't recall that one, you wouldn't happen to have a link would you?
Kermit. - June 21, 2009
I do, but it doesn't work anymore.
I have tried contacting MLB.com on getting access to it, but they have been terrible in responding to the matter.
With 4 homers, Cameron crows
Wilder. - June 21, 2009
Home Run number 5000!
Kermit. - June 21, 2009
IBB him, it would make the crowd go crazy.
I would like that.
marinerdan - June 21, 2009
MURDER ZAVADA WITH YOUR BAT
abender20 - June 21, 2009
Should have kept Burke in the on-deck circle. Looked like they didn't have the lefty
up until Griffey came out.
Rudy4three - June 21, 2009
GRIFFEY!!!
Robert - June 21, 2009
I AM SO HAPPY
I MIGHT JUST START CRYING
Robert - June 21, 2009
In pain
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
Get us a lead Jr! I can't be the only one who would miss exttra innings to have dinner with my Father.
thewyrm - June 21, 2009
Pfft. You're no fan.
Liebkartoffel - June 21, 2009
Drama indeed.
Sinking Away - June 21, 2009
The eighth inning seems magical this year for whatever reason
calim - June 21, 2009
I want him to hit a weak ass grounder that ends in an error
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
I want a dinger
Robert - June 21, 2009
Griffey = Bullwinkle
Decatur - June 21, 2009
shitbird
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
Well that sucks
gregrabble - June 21, 2009
Aw.
BrianL - June 21, 2009
HAHAHAHA
royalcurve - June 21, 2009
Dang it.
Heydude - June 21, 2009
RETIRE
Robert - June 21, 2009
AS A MARINER
Robert - June 21, 2009

Robert - June 21, 2009
*
…
Liebkartoffel - June 21, 2009
That was the ultimate "Everybody in the stadium stand up and scream"
For a can of corn.
calim - June 21, 2009
Ichiro will hit a walkoff HR in the 9th.
gregrabble - June 21, 2009
And by "walkoff HR," you mean infield single, two SBs and a wild pitch
calim - June 21, 2009
Nope
gregrabble - June 21, 2009
yes
mark sobba - June 21, 2009
That depends on how eager he is to get home.
JY - June 21, 2009
Don't forget ice cream level.
Liebkartoffel - June 21, 2009
Has Ichi ever hit a walkoff funk blast as a Mariner?
AlexM - June 21, 2009
Yes.
mark sobba - June 21, 2009
When?
AlexM - June 21, 2009
If that happens
you will join Poochie in the called shot game thread Hall of Fame.
Decatur - June 21, 2009
So...who wasn't expecting that?
Liebkartoffel - June 21, 2009
I was expecting a strikeout.
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
Samesies
Graham MacAree - June 21, 2009
Am I the only one that wants Griffey never to start again just so he can come into every game for one PA like that?
Granted sometimes he would walk, or hit a HR. But the intro is pretty cool.
mark sobba - June 21, 2009
I want him to never start again because he's a terrible fielder,
but I think the intro’s cool as well.
Liebkartoffel - June 21, 2009
Muttonchops!
Liebkartoffel - June 21, 2009
Was Lowe good last time he pitched?
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
Rob Johnson! Game over man!
Kermit. - June 21, 2009
Uh, Yuni?
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
OF FUCK CTHULU IS STARTING FOR THE PADRES WE'RE SCREWED
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
WTF? Did anyone see Gaudin's picture?
Humongo - June 21, 2009
The wtf? beard?
Kirk - June 21, 2009
...
Humongo - June 21, 2009
Pfft.
msb - June 21, 2009
Reminds me of my sophomore AP history teacher.
Looked like a dead rat.
Liebkartoffel - June 21, 2009
SIT THE FUCK DOWN BITCH
gregrabble - June 21, 2009
Snap!
ThundaPC - June 21, 2009
Don't walk him please
gregrabble - June 21, 2009
I could have sworn it was the 10th
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
Lowe walks lefties a lot.
marinerdan - June 21, 2009
That was a suspenseful call.
ThundaPC - June 21, 2009
FUCK
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
FUCK
BrianL - June 21, 2009
God dammit
gregrabble - June 21, 2009
Missed the tag?
calim - June 21, 2009
Yup. Nice slide
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
WHAT?
abender20 - June 21, 2009
Oh
abender20 - June 21, 2009
Well that was a tad worse.
ThundaPC - June 21, 2009
Mmhmm.
Kirk - June 21, 2009
We suck at tags sooooo much.
AlexM - June 21, 2009
Not much he could do there
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
HE COULD HAVE NOT SUCKED AMIRITE
Graham MacAree - June 21, 2009
I suppose you're rite.
royalcurve - June 21, 2009
Sucked like Jeff Clement right there.
joof - June 21, 2009
Is that like pyrite?
Liebkartoffel - June 21, 2009
He's been taking advice from Yuni on how to tag runners.
Heydude - June 21, 2009
Dbacks has to be one of the more unfortunate nicknames for a team.
Liebkartoffel - June 21, 2009
Please get out of this.
gregrabble - June 21, 2009
Lowe, finish this NOW.
Sinking Away - June 21, 2009
He will.
In a negative way.
marinerdan - June 21, 2009
The man can't even finish growing his facial hair.
Liebkartoffel - June 21, 2009
THANK YOU MR. LOWE
Sinking Away - June 21, 2009
Best part of Rob Johnsons game right here, the mound visit
Kermit. - June 21, 2009
I'd rate him a 70 on the 20-80 scale.
marinerdan - June 21, 2009
Is that one of those scout rating systems?
Kermit. - June 21, 2009
Indeed it is.
He’s only a 40 runner but for a catcher that’s like a 110.
marinerdan - June 21, 2009
I just imagine his mound conversation as a trip to the psychiatrist, it's more entertaining
Kermit. - June 21, 2009
Is it retarded? Then, yes.
Liebkartoffel - June 21, 2009
Buh?
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
Sorry, never been a fan of the 20 to 80 scale.
Liebkartoffel - June 21, 2009
Because the numbering is weird?
Because that I can see.
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
Yeah.
Liebkartoffel - June 21, 2009
Way to go Rob! You fixed him!
Kermit. - June 21, 2009
I would really rather he never throw that pitch in that location again.
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
That location is fine.
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
The benda!
calim - June 21, 2009
NICE PITCH.
gregrabble - June 21, 2009
K!
BrianL - June 21, 2009
Lowe!
Heydude - June 21, 2009
K
Snaps!
ThundaPC - June 21, 2009
BENDYNESS!
Decatur - June 21, 2009
And bingo was his name-o
abender20 - June 21, 2009
What is going on?
Off speed strikes!! Mark Lowe!
AlexM - June 21, 2009
PINCH-HIT GRIFFEY!
Wilder. - June 21, 2009
3-0!
gregrabble - June 21, 2009
TAKE TAKE TAKE TAKE TAKE
BrianL - June 21, 2009
GOOD RONNY
BrianL - June 21, 2009
Nice Ronny!
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
RONNY YOU FINALLY LISTENED!
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
Walk-ball
calim - June 21, 2009
DO NOT BUNT
Wilder. - June 21, 2009
I would very much enjoy it if Ronny had Zavada's facial hair
Graham MacAree - June 21, 2009
No.
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
I would prefer that Rob Johnson had a Hitler 'stache.
abender20 - June 21, 2009
Sweet.
gregrabble - June 21, 2009
ICHIRO TIME!!!
LET"S FINISH THIS OFF!
Sinking Away - June 21, 2009
Alrighty then.
ThundaPC - June 21, 2009
Yay Ronnie! Way not to suck!
joof - June 21, 2009
ahem y
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
Hey hey!
abender20 - June 21, 2009
Come on Ichi!
2.5 is a beautiful number at this point.
Zwakamatsu - June 21, 2009
2.5?
Decatur - June 21, 2009
back of the Rangers
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
Games back.
ThundaPC - June 21, 2009
Games out of first.
AlexM - June 21, 2009
Think about it.
thewyrm - June 21, 2009
Actually I just think it's a beautiful number and in no way shape or form does it relate to Ichiro or the game in general.
Zwakamatsu - June 21, 2009
Ah. Thank you for thinking for me, in any case.
Decatur - June 21, 2009
Perhaps he was aiming for the moose.
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
DO NOT SCARE ME LIKE THAT DAVE
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
I want to twirl that mustache more than anything.
marinerdan - June 21, 2009
So Cedeno is like the Nick Punto of the Mariners.
joof - June 21, 2009
NO WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
Baiting you.
joof - June 21, 2009
Damn it
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
CMON ICHIRO
gregrabble - June 21, 2009
Zavada needs to return to combating the nefarious machinations of Cardinal Richelieu.
Liebkartoffel - June 21, 2009
I wonder if he has a twin brother
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
Would have been PISSED if they rung him up there
calim - June 21, 2009
I think it's dumb that you can get called on a checkswing strike when you are trying to keep from getting noggined
abender20 - June 21, 2009
Pussy.
Liebkartoffel - June 21, 2009
Maybe you shouldn't be swingin at a ball coming at your noggin.
joof - June 21, 2009
It's funny when they duck and leave the bat sticking up, and it turns into a bunt single
Kermit. - June 21, 2009
Hit-and-run
calim - June 21, 2009
No.
AlexM - June 21, 2009
Not allowed to hit and run with Ichiro at the plate
Matthew - June 21, 2009
Didn't realize
What’s the thinking there?
calim - June 21, 2009
Ichiro is a really good hitter so asking him to do anything specific is kind of silly.
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
Actually with Ichiro's ridiculous contact rate he is the perfect batter to put on the Hit and Run.
thewyrm - June 21, 2009
It might make sense.
Matthew - June 21, 2009
I stand by my above comment
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
I would agree, but Ichiro swings at everything in 2-2 counts
Matthew - June 21, 2009
Once it gets to 2-2 then yeah maybe.
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
What I was thinking
If he’s swinging anyway, might as well give it a shot.
calim - June 21, 2009
And mainly, just that if you're going to H-n-R with anyone, Ichiro should be the hitter you do it with.
Matthew - June 21, 2009
I bet Zavada drinks a lot of PBR
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
You know he's friendly with the beer bong
abender20 - June 21, 2009
He is in foul-off-everything mode
Graham MacAree - June 21, 2009
Ichiro can foul balls off in his sleep.
marinerdan - June 21, 2009
These types of PAs seem to result in a rediculous strikeout or a double
Matthew - June 21, 2009
Good heavens
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
What a generous soul
abender20 - June 21, 2009
Nice
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
Thank goodness he has wheels
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
YES YES YES!
gregrabble - June 21, 2009
ICHIRO!
Wilder. - June 21, 2009
ICHIRO IS FAST
BrianL - June 21, 2009
Heh.
That. Was. Awesome.
Devin - June 21, 2009
WHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
ThundaPC - June 21, 2009
HAHAHA
abender20 - June 21, 2009
Wow.
thewyrm - June 21, 2009
WOW!!
Sinking Away - June 21, 2009
YES YES YES
Decatur - June 21, 2009
Ichi!
Liebkartoffel - June 21, 2009
What a glorious man.
AlexM - June 21, 2009
I want his babies
Graham MacAree - June 21, 2009
BUNT
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
THIS IS AN APPROPRIATE TIME TO DO SO
abender20 - June 21, 2009
HOMERUN
Wilder. - June 21, 2009
Ichiro a'flying baby!
Kermit. - June 21, 2009
You are mistaken. He looks older than that.
abender20 - June 21, 2009
He is ageless, like an Elf.
Decatur - June 21, 2009
It was Niehaus' call in the radio, he was very animated about it
Kermit. - June 21, 2009
flying comma baby
msb - June 21, 2009
My pinky finger is very silly sometimes
Kermit. - June 21, 2009
Ichiro wants this one.
Omerta - June 21, 2009
Wouldn't Cedeno have been out at second?
marinerdan - June 21, 2009
Absolutely
calim - June 21, 2009
Ichiro is FAST!!
Heydude - June 21, 2009
It's time to WAK THE WORLD
Decatur - June 21, 2009
M's struggle getting runners from 2nd with less than 2 out. Makes me nervous as hell.
russak - June 21, 2009
Don't get cute, Woody
Matthew - June 21, 2009
You tried to get cute.
Matthew - June 21, 2009
He didn't listen.
AlexM - June 21, 2009
FUCK YOU WOODWARD
abender20 - June 21, 2009
Do net leave this up to Sweeney because he will disappoint us all.
russak - June 21, 2009
Shit
gregrabble - June 21, 2009
Okay, stop doing that now.
ThundaPC - June 21, 2009
I just assumed that since he's bad he'd be a good bunter
Graham MacAree - June 21, 2009
This kind of thinking makes people think Rob Johnson is a good defender.
marinerdan - June 21, 2009
I changed my mind after two bunts
Graham MacAree - June 21, 2009
So Woodward isn't a great bunter.
Heydude - June 21, 2009
So...is he trying to bunt or something?
Liebkartoffel - June 21, 2009
Carp is going to have his first walk-off of his career!
Wilder. - June 21, 2009
Well done Woodpecker
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
WHAT THE FUCK
abender20 - June 21, 2009
ARE YOU MENTAL
abender20 - June 21, 2009
Fuck.
BrianL - June 21, 2009
FUCKING SHIT WHY DO YOU LEAVE IT ON
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
God dammit, come the fuck on
gregrabble - June 21, 2009
2 strike bunt whaaaaaat the fuck
Kermit. - June 21, 2009
Idiot fuckface why bunt for a hit on the line if it's a sacrifice you putz
Kermit. - June 21, 2009
D'oh.
Omerta - June 21, 2009
Well that's all kinds of gay right there
Graham MacAree - June 21, 2009
Thanks for that even further back camera angle, FSN!
Matthew - June 21, 2009
Bahhhhhh.
AlexM - June 21, 2009
A bunt with 2 strikes? WTF
Heydude - June 21, 2009
This is what happens when players do'nt go through bunt training with the club in Peoria
Matthew - June 21, 2009
I don't understand why you would leave it on there
gregrabble - June 21, 2009
The rationale would be to stay out of the DP but still what the fuck
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
Because bunting should be easy
Matthew - June 21, 2009
Get a single, bro! That would be some pretty sweet hangin'.
abender20 - June 21, 2009
DOUBLE STEAL
marinerdan - June 21, 2009
Absolutely not.
abender20 - June 21, 2009
Why do you leave that on
When he’s already missed two down the line? Moronic.
seattlecougar - June 21, 2009
I guess I feel like you have a much better chance of getting that down that him getting a hit
And the DP possibility is involved, too.
calim - June 21, 2009
We're going into extras, aren't we?
BrianL - June 21, 2009
What the fuck, why would you bunt htere?
Matthew - June 21, 2009
GO CARP GO
Omerta - June 21, 2009
Fuck pitch tracker
I can’t believe he swung at that.
seattlecougar - June 21, 2009
Bunting is stupid
Matthew - June 21, 2009
Please throw one through the 5 hole.
abender20 - June 21, 2009
OH BOY SWEENEY
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
MATTHEW LIKES HIM
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
Oh good it's up to Sweeney
gregrabble - June 21, 2009
I have a good feeling about this
abender20 - June 21, 2009
The birds are singing, the sun is shining, and Mike Sweeney is at the plate.
abender20 - June 21, 2009
Could life be any better? I don't know.
abender20 - June 21, 2009
PINCH-HIT BRANYAN!
Wilder. - June 21, 2009
Ronny you count!
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
TIME FOR VETERAN LEADERSHIP!!!
seattlecougar - June 21, 2009
Why couldn't Woodward do that?
marinerdan - June 21, 2009
It's time for the most amazing safety squeeze ever
Graham MacAree - June 21, 2009
Go get'em Sweeney.
ThundaPC - June 21, 2009
Game on the line, Sweeney is up.
That speaks for itself.
Heydude - June 21, 2009
Mike Sweeney will save us!!
AlexM - June 21, 2009
I MEAN SERIOUSLY HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
MISREPLY LAUGHING TOO HARD
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
IT WORKED HERE TOO
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
IBB Sweeney.
He’s a veteran!
marinerdan - June 21, 2009
Oh shit, they are?
marinerdan - June 21, 2009
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
JESUS FUCKING RETARD
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
They're walking Sweeney to get to Gutierrez! Yes!
gregrabble - June 21, 2009
This is interesting.
Zwakamatsu - June 21, 2009
FUNK IBB
seattlecougar - June 21, 2009
YES THEY ARE WALKING AN OLD MAN TO GET TO A COMPETENT HITTER
abender20 - June 21, 2009
Need some walk-ball right here, Guti
calim - June 21, 2009
IBB Sweeney? Buh?
royalcurve - June 21, 2009
Wait, seriously?
You’re walking Sweeney to face Gutierrez?
Matthew - June 21, 2009
Okay, time for Gutz.
ThundaPC - June 21, 2009
Intentionally loading the bases in the bottom of the ninth?
BrianL - June 21, 2009
Where have I seen this before?
calim - June 21, 2009
Go, go, Fruity Pebbles.
marinerdan - June 21, 2009
Apparently A.J. Hinch thinks he's still playing for the A's
abender20 - June 21, 2009
Ha ha, almost threw it away.
Heydude - June 21, 2009
That seemed foolish.
Omerta - June 21, 2009
BRAN-YAN! BRAN-YAN! BRAN-YAN! BRAN-YAN!
Wilder. - June 21, 2009
Injured Branyan with PH penalty is not better than Gutz
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
And hey we're fresh out of spare CF'ers
Kermit. - June 21, 2009
Who would play center if we go to extras?
BrianL - June 21, 2009
Ichiro.
abender20 - June 21, 2009
He's in right
Kermit. - June 21, 2009
He'd move over.
abender20 - June 21, 2009
Would he play both?
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
Yup
abender20 - June 21, 2009
Sort of like how Gutz can top and bottom
abender20 - June 21, 2009
That could have been the best who's on first conversation, but Gutz topping and bottoming works
Kermit. - June 21, 2009
When all else fails, go gay
abender20 - June 21, 2009
Always a safe bet sailor ; )
Kermit. - June 21, 2009
Ok that's a little uncomfortable, and I even made the joke
Kermit. - June 21, 2009
Uhhh Branyan duh.
Zwakamatsu - June 21, 2009
They're probably move Cedeno to RF, Ichiro to Cf, Woodward to 2b or something.
gregrabble - June 21, 2009
They'd*
gregrabble - June 21, 2009
And Branyan/Beltre to 3rd.
gregrabble - June 21, 2009
Burke!
Wilder. - June 21, 2009
NEW DAY, NEW WAY, GUTZ TIME.
Sinking Away - June 21, 2009
Zavada so wishes he was a 1940's boxer.
Zwakamatsu - June 21, 2009
40s? More like 10s.
Liebkartoffel - June 21, 2009
Yeah I had no clue what era I should have actually gone for. 40's sounded good.
Zwakamatsu - June 21, 2009
Bye bye mustache
seattlecougar - June 21, 2009
Aha.
msb - June 21, 2009
OK GUTI DO NOT MAKE US REGRET OUR MOCKING
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
I am absolutely perplexed.
thewyrm - June 21, 2009
Why would you be willing to bring in your closer in a situation where giving up runs doesn't guarantee you lose
But not in a situation where it does?
Graham MacAree - June 21, 2009
I wish we would have won it on a IBB wild pitch.
joof - June 21, 2009
Chad Qualls throws strikes like he'll win millions of dollars for doing so.
Matthew - June 21, 2009
Which is to say, he throws them frequently.
Matthew - June 21, 2009
And he wins millions of dollars for doing so.
abender20 - June 21, 2009
Thank you for explaining for us
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
Well good pitchers do tend to make millions of dollars and good pitchers usually throw strikes.
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
This can only end in a Gutierrez grand slam
esoteric - June 21, 2009
I'm thinking top of the 17th, Eric Byrnes infield single.
Just to fuck with our minds.
marinerdan - June 21, 2009
My ear is still sore from last night.
russak - June 21, 2009
He swung for it.
calim - June 21, 2009
OH GOD HE IS DOING THE GET TWO STRIKES AND THEN WHIFF THING
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
Correct
abender20 - June 21, 2009

abender20 - June 21, 2009
Is that Gaudin?
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
I think that's :-( <<<<<<
abender20 - June 21, 2009
I was thinking Jabba the Hut
but yours is much more relevant to baseball.
Omerta - June 21, 2009
WHY IS HE SO TERRIFYING
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
HIS NAME SOUNDS LIKE LOLS
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
Walk him in.
Walk him in.
ThundaPC - June 21, 2009
Let's go Gutz, be the hero.
Heydude - June 21, 2009
We couldn't trade Rob Johnson to the D'Backs before the game?
The game would have been won twice already.
calim - June 21, 2009
Kinda surprised the Safeco ceowd don't have a wave going.
thewyrm - June 21, 2009

Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
HE HAD A GOOD GAME TODAY!!!
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
I STILL LOVE HIM
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
I keep thinking you're calling him a rather
inappropriate name.
Liebkartoffel - June 21, 2009
ABSOLUTELY NOT
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
I would assume, but still.
Liebkartoffel - June 21, 2009
Wow.
royalcurve - June 21, 2009
THIS IS ONE OF THE MORE HILARIOUS NON MARINER THINGS I HAVE EVER HEARD
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
I leave for a couple innings and look what happens
forte40 - June 21, 2009
THIS IS ONE OF THE MORE HILARIOUS NON MARINER THINGS I HAVE EVER HEARD
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
ahahahah sweep and above .500 because of THAT
gregrabble - June 21, 2009
I'd hate to lose like that.
ThundaPC - June 21, 2009
Hinch immediately heads down the tunnel to break something.
msb - June 21, 2009
His own fault for IBBing the bases loaded.
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
Sweeney!
Matthew - June 21, 2009
HE SERIOUSY JUST DROPPED THE BALL. I COULD HAVE CAUGHT THAT HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Zwakamatsu - June 21, 2009
WE WILL SO FUCKING TAKE IT.
Sinking Away - June 21, 2009
I can't believe this lineup won.
royalcurve - June 21, 2009
;-{( <--- sad Zavada
abender20 - June 21, 2009
Not nearly as sad as Tony Clark
gregrabble - June 21, 2009
Why is he winking?
Liebkartoffel - June 21, 2009
It is a tear.
jimmylauderdale - June 21, 2009
He cries sideways?
Liebkartoffel - June 21, 2009
His face could be sideways and therefore he'd be crying down
Graham MacAree - June 21, 2009
So he's collapsed in a drunken stupor and now he's crying uncontrollably.
I can picture that.
Liebkartoffel - June 21, 2009
He is resting his head on Jon Rauch's lap.
jimmylauderdale - June 21, 2009
I guess it was either the grand slam or WAIT WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?
esoteric - June 21, 2009
How was Yuni not involved?
Matthew - June 21, 2009
WINNNNN SWEEEEP
OVER 500!!!!
seattlecougar - June 21, 2009

Torrid - June 21, 2009
I would love to know the significance of that.
Zwakamatsu - June 21, 2009
Scott Shields says what.
marinerdan - June 21, 2009
Recipe
- No Branyan
- No Beltre
- No Lopez
- 1 Griffey PA
- No Aardsma
Success!
ThundaPC - June 21, 2009
Praise Felix.
And Arizona sucktitude.
calim - June 21, 2009
Or:
Walk
+Weak IF hit
+Weak IF groundout
+3rd Strike Bunt Foul
+Walk
+Weak IF groundball error
= A FUCKING WIN OVER .500 BABY
Zwakamatsu - June 21, 2009
HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHHAHAHAHA
OlSalty - June 21, 2009
Nothing like a walk-off error.
Liebkartoffel - June 21, 2009
YAY PORNSTAR!!!!!!!!
Talk about your Major League Pokes!
mark sobba - June 21, 2009
Sex me good you beautiful team
Graham MacAree - June 21, 2009
Was that a sweep?
mark sobba - June 21, 2009
No, that was an error.
Matthew - June 21, 2009
Yay and now back to the Padres!
Feel the heat Texas. FEEL IT.
Omerta - June 21, 2009
"Does a nice job of keyholing up"
…what?
Matthew - June 21, 2009
I could only imagine he means looking for a pitch in one particular location and not swinging unless it's right there. Luckily "not right there" was outside of the strikezone. Or something.
Zwakamatsu - June 21, 2009
2.5 games back!
OlSalty - June 21, 2009
I AM STILL GIGGLING WITH GLEE
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 21, 2009
You and Felix in the post-game interview.
Sinking Away - June 21, 2009
Good thing baseball isn't a meritocracy
abender20 - June 21, 2009
That Reynolds HR was a piece of shit too.
marinerdan - June 21, 2009
LETS GO KERSHAW, LETS GO
marinerdan - June 21, 2009
Doc? Dick Tracy Job? The fuck?
Liebkartoffel - June 21, 2009
This was a pretty lousy series for Diamondbacks fans.
How’s Goose holding up?
BrianL - June 21, 2009
Well Justin Upton was still good
OlSalty - June 21, 2009
Bingo!
That series more or less turned out exactly how I wanted it too.
Goose - June 21, 2009
This was our first sweep since Oakland in April wasn't it?
gregrabble - June 21, 2009
Jeez the M's highlight clips are actually worth watching the last few days!
Kermit. - June 21, 2009
I now think I know how opposing teams felt playing us last year.
Dbacks were terrible in this series. They look like they’ve already mailed this season in.
Rudy4three - June 21, 2009
Playing in the NL west and not being called the Dodgers will do that to you.
gregrabble - June 21, 2009
Can you imagine if that would have happened to us?
Instead:
AHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA.
I’M ON A BOAT!
EnglishMariner - June 21, 2009
Eric O'Flaherty causes mass expulsion.
boom
msb - June 21, 2009
The best part is how this sets up another Colorado game!
Robert - June 21, 2009
Our magic number is 97!
Robert - June 21, 2009
If I wasn't rooting for Seattle, I'd be seething right now.
But instead, WOOOOO!
Goose - June 21, 2009
Vinnie sitting in for Shannon.
Winning is what you watch games for, and now you are winning, you gotta do things to keep winning— if you trade away Bedard or Washburn who is going to pitch to keep you winning?!?
msb - June 21, 2009
My favorite was "we've been trying to rebuild for years, not going out and trading young guys for the pieces we need to win, and I'm tired of it."
Uh, Bedard, Broussard, Perez., Ramirez, Parrish, White…
Aaron Campeau - June 21, 2009
Has he not been around for the last 5 years?
jimmylauderdale - June 21, 2009
Maybe he went into hibernation when the M's last left KIRO
msb - June 21, 2009
Angels look awful on ESPN
We may gain against them too.
Sinking Away - June 21, 2009
Not if the Dodgers insist on giving the game back.
msb - June 21, 2009
Angels have the bases loaded TWICE and don't score.
Is their offense more anemic than ours? The AL West is BAD.
Sinking Away - June 21, 2009
The Mariners have the worst offense in baseball.
