.334 with giving honest smart answers to reporters after games?
.334 with picking up hot girls after games?
.334 with the hat trick?
.334 with the … ok I will stop.
I work 1/2 a mile from Safeco Field, trying to gauge attendance for my coworkers but don’t have MLB TV or a TV at the office… Someone with eyes on the game, any idea what the crowd’s like?
Don’t you guys have jobs? haha!
I got the first part of this on the radio, thankfully, though wish I could have been home for the booting out in the first inning.
Thing is, even if you’re a 6.00 true talent FIP pitcher, that still means you’ll pitch a scoreless inning fairly frequently, and most of the time, when you pitch an inning, you only give up one run (aside from any defense your team can help you with).
Honestly? I’d be thrilled if managers were more willing to pitch their stoppers in tied games and their garbage pitchers during 3 run leads in the 9th… but the (SV) statistic is too shiny and valuable for reliever salaries…
Whoopsies!
ThundaPC - June 25, 2009
You can, however, still make jokes about shutting out the Padres' offense.
Eyebrows - June 25, 2009
Which is what Garret Olson and Roy Corcoran had trouble doing.
ThundaPC - June 25, 2009
Washburn is really cruising with those screaming line drives.
Zwakamatsu - June 25, 2009
Three line drives in the inning!
Jeff Sullivan - June 25, 2009
Man, Washburn is pitching poorly today. Lots of luck today
Rudy4three - June 25, 2009
although I guess Beltre, Gutz, and Ichiro help make good luck
Rudy4three - June 25, 2009
It feels so nice to have a good ole fashioned
Ass whupping rather than another 1-run game…

Robert - June 25, 2009
How is it only through six?
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 25, 2009
17 hits, 6 walks
Eyebrows - June 25, 2009
The Padres really want Bryce Harper.
russak - June 25, 2009
Anyone who isn't the Nationals might as well give up on that.
gregrabble - June 25, 2009
They're going to get Strassburg.
He said he won’t sign with the Mariners or Nationals. Only the Padres. Bud Black and All that.
joof - June 25, 2009
I heard this as well
Dewey N - June 25, 2009
They won't sign him.
I heard he has a degenerative hip condition.
Eyebrows - June 25, 2009

joof - June 25, 2009
You can if you're right-handed.

Shit I switched channels for 30 seconds and he gave up a HR
gregrabble - June 25, 2009
Why can't Jak stop sucking so much dick and start being a heart-warming story of success in the face of adversity?
Bearskin Rugburn - June 25, 2009
Someone help!
I work 1/2 a mile from Safeco Field, trying to gauge attendance for my coworkers but don’t have MLB TV or a TV at the office… Someone with eyes on the game, any idea what the crowd’s like?
seattlecougar - June 25, 2009
Good crowd.
It looks like maybe tad over 30k.
levnclf - June 25, 2009
Thx
seattlecougar - June 25, 2009
And Eckstein ties it up with a three-run bomb!
Eyebrows - June 25, 2009
Really?
Slurvey - June 25, 2009
There would be profanity up and down this page.
russak - June 25, 2009
What the mariners really need here is a DP
Bearskin Rugburn - June 25, 2009
Oh what the fuck I knew this would happen as soon as I tuned into the game.
Benne - June 25, 2009
You don;t want to make Jarrod mad.
msb - June 25, 2009
Uh ohs
Jeff Sullivan - June 25, 2009
Oh, have you seen this episode of "Puke on my Balls" already?
Bearskin Rugburn - June 25, 2009
The Hell? Part 2?!
Don’t you guys have jobs? haha!
I got the first part of this on the radio, thankfully, though wish I could have been home for the booting out in the first inning.
section331 - June 25, 2009
C'mon Mutton Lowe!
Slurvey - June 25, 2009
Throw a fucking slider.
russak - June 25, 2009
Fun time!
Eyebrows - June 25, 2009
Are we boned yet?
d0nkey - June 25, 2009
No. Boning imminent. Kepp teeth, eyes clenched shut.
Bearskin Rugburn - June 25, 2009
Here we go!
ThundaPC - June 25, 2009
SUCCESS!
Bearskin Rugburn - June 25, 2009
I am so much happier with a walk there than with anything else
Jeff Sullivan - June 25, 2009
Going for a K would be like playing catch with a hand grenade
Bearskin Rugburn - June 25, 2009
This game is on your head, Skywaker.
russak - June 25, 2009
Pitch #1 was a strike
Jeff Sullivan - June 25, 2009
That was a tad frightening.
ThundaPC - June 25, 2009
Good job Mutton Chops!
Slurvey - June 25, 2009
Yes, wow,
Schuxu - June 25, 2009
We did it!
Jeff Sullivan - June 25, 2009
God bless Ichiro, and Mark, and Russell, and Franky, and my kitties!
section331 - June 25, 2009
Cla?
Pronounced Clah?
Slow Country - June 25, 2009
Clay
abender20 - June 25, 2009
Unless you prefer Clah.
Just ’cause.
msb - June 25, 2009
There is no indication that that is how his name is pronounced.
How confusing.
Slow Country - June 25, 2009
I like Clah better.
Personal choice.
Slow Country - June 25, 2009
Yes but that is not his name.
Aaron Campeau - June 25, 2009
Hush Campow
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 25, 2009
BAN BAN BAN
Aaron Campeau - June 25, 2009
If his parents wanted him to be called clay.
They should have spelled it that way
Slow Country - June 25, 2009
Be that as it may it's his name and since you know how to pronounce it correctly you should
Aaron Campeau - June 25, 2009
Yeah or else he and Chone will kick your ass.
Eyebrows - June 25, 2009
And Maikel
once he gets stateside
Bearskin Rugburn - June 25, 2009
He's stateside, FYI.
marc w - June 25, 2009
Thank god
Bearskin Rugburn - June 25, 2009
Next you'll be telling me it is pronounced Shawn Bean.
msb - June 25, 2009
It's spelled Raymond Luxury Yacht
But it’s pronounced Throatwarbler Mangrove!
section331 - June 25, 2009
I suppose if it was my name, thats what I'd want.
But I won’t like it!
Slow Country - June 25, 2009
In the immortal words of Rip Torn, this is like watching a bunch of retards try to hump a door knob.
abender20 - June 25, 2009
A line drive!!
levnclf - June 25, 2009
I don't know why, but I haven't been comfortable with this lead since the 3rd inning.
Goose - June 25, 2009
Man Mark Lowe's K/9IP rate has been in a downward spiral...
Slurvey - June 25, 2009
You know it!
Jeff Sullivan - June 25, 2009
Is that the millionth line drive today. Frustrating day for the Padres.
Susheel Ramasahayam - June 25, 2009
I wonder if they could line out more often
Jeff Sullivan - June 25, 2009
Alrighty.
ThundaPC - June 25, 2009
I wonder if Buddy Black is the kind that hangs out in the tunnel, or says fuck it and hits the showers
Kermit. - June 25, 2009
Go Mutton Chops!
Slurvey - June 25, 2009
3 sliders in a row for the K.
Susheel Ramasahayam - June 25, 2009
Ah, no cycle for Ichiro.
Goose - June 25, 2009
The Padres are 4-9 on line drives
Jeff Sullivan - June 25, 2009
They also have two home runs and three doubles
how in the hell have we held them to three runs?
Jeff Sullivan - June 25, 2009
Is your stereo ready? Are your windows closed?
section331 - June 25, 2009
I'm at work so no not really
Jeff Sullivan - June 25, 2009
I was at work for the Felix/Santana game!
Jeff Sullivan - June 25, 2009
Yeah, so was I.
It was hard for me to not yell in the office.
section331 - June 25, 2009
I yelled and punched a dent in my cubicle
Jeff Sullivan - June 25, 2009
HA!
I just remember squeaking and ducking nearly under my desk.
section331 - June 25, 2009
ICHIRO!
No cycle, but still yippee…
section331 - June 25, 2009
I would've liked to see him try and stretch that
Jeff Sullivan - June 25, 2009
Sure, what the hell, he's fast, right?
section331 - June 25, 2009
I do like hearing Dave N when he is happy.
msb - June 25, 2009
Branyan is so good at hitting pitches outside off the plate
Jeff Sullivan - June 25, 2009
Branyan back above .300
Eyebrows - June 25, 2009
Comfort level rising.
Goose - June 25, 2009
Ooooo! My pants!
section331 - June 25, 2009
I don't care what kind of hit it was
Beltre just got a hit off a sidearming righty.
Jeff Sullivan - June 25, 2009
This is quite an Angels like inning.
Goose - June 25, 2009
Rally Monkey'd
ThundaPC - June 25, 2009
Speaking of which, they have the day off, so we're looking to gain a half game on them.
Goose - June 25, 2009
Do you get sick of chasing LA teams?
I guess the D-backs had a good season or two recently….
Bearskin Rugburn - June 25, 2009
Yes.
Goose - June 25, 2009
And then Gutierrez gets out on a liner
Jeff Sullivan - June 25, 2009
Neat!
Aaron Campeau - June 25, 2009
Wow Sweeney having a hell of a game.
Sec 108 - June 25, 2009
I caught myself thinking, hey there's no place to put Sweeney, they'll have to pitch to him
Kermit. - June 25, 2009
Lopez!
Sec 108 - June 25, 2009
I no longer distrust Mike Sweeney.
It’s quite liberating!
section331 - June 25, 2009
How can you mistrust someone ballplayers leave their kid with?
That being said, I still have faith that he’s not very good.
eponymous_coward - June 25, 2009
I distrust his ballplayerness, not his mad babysitting skillz
section331 - June 25, 2009
Well, off to the buses.
msb - June 25, 2009
SUCKFEST!!
Bearskin Rugburn - June 25, 2009
NONONONONONONONONONOOOOOO BATISTA!
section331 - June 25, 2009
This is what he's here for for Godssakes
Aaron Campeau - June 25, 2009
He'll do fine
besides he’s pitched two innings all week.
Bearskin Rugburn - June 25, 2009
I'M PUTTING MY FINGERS IN MY EARS I CAN'T HEAR YOU LALALALALALALALALALALA!
section331 - June 25, 2009
You want him coming in in an actual close game?
eponymous_coward - June 25, 2009
You know good and well I don't want him coming into ANY game.
section331 - June 25, 2009
Yeah, but someone has to pitch the garbage innings.
I’m fine with it being Beluga Tits.
eponymous_coward - June 25, 2009
I really should stop being such a dick about it
He hasn’t been bad this year, for the most part; but the bias is still there…
section331 - June 25, 2009
He was standing around the bullpen yesterday looking kind of lost. It was a real melancholy moment.
For about 30 seconds, then I realized there wasn’t a line at the bullpen bar and my heart exploded with joy
Kermit. - June 25, 2009
He actually almost always looks pretty sad to me...
It’s one of the main reasons I feel guilty for being an ass…
section331 - June 25, 2009
Oh, I cringe seeing him in close games, too.
Thing is, even if you’re a 6.00 true talent FIP pitcher, that still means you’ll pitch a scoreless inning fairly frequently, and most of the time, when you pitch an inning, you only give up one run (aside from any defense your team can help you with).

eponymous_coward - June 25, 2009
I don’t mind him when he can pitch with a 6 run lead.
eri_yoshida_is_a_stud - June 25, 2009
It's funny how one good day brings Sweeney's OPS up to Griffey level
Jeff Sullivan - June 25, 2009
They are both horrible and should be spending more time with their families ... Or coaching.
mark sobba - June 25, 2009
The Mariners are Sweeney's new family
Jeff Sullivan - June 25, 2009
Wow Lopez has been a real mood killer today
gregrabble - June 25, 2009
I'm usually willing to give someone back from a funeral of a close family member a pass for a bit.
eponymous_coward - June 25, 2009
Give him time, he just got back from a funeral…
eri_yoshida_is_a_stud - June 25, 2009
Use the subject line please
Matthew - June 25, 2009
Do us a favor and use the subject line, please
Jeff Sullivan - June 25, 2009
So Batista has been worse than I thought this year
Jeff Sullivan - June 25, 2009
To say nothing of his grotesque appearance
BHP - June 25, 2009
RONNY!
Goose - June 25, 2009
CEDENO!
Slurvey - June 25, 2009
WASHBURN WINS!
ThundaPC - June 25, 2009
Wow.
BrianL - June 25, 2009
RONNY!!!!!!!
section331 - June 25, 2009
Another lineout!
Jeff Sullivan - June 25, 2009
HOLY FUCK RONNY!
joof - June 25, 2009
Waht the fuck was that???
CapSea - June 25, 2009
WIN!!
I’m on gameday, was it a really nice play by Ronny?
gregrabble - June 25, 2009
Pretty slick.
ThundaPC - June 25, 2009
There was twisting and throwing involved
Pretty sweet.
section331 - June 25, 2009
That was the most un-Mariners game all season
I Lick Squirrels - June 25, 2009
So we're 2 games over .500, having carved through some weak teams like butter, going into the toughest stretch of schedule over the year.
Well, we might as well find out now if this is a mirage or not.
eponymous_coward - June 25, 2009
This is as far above .500 as we've been in franchise history.
Aaron Campeau - June 25, 2009
No team has ever been as far above .500 as we are right now
Jeff Sullivan - June 25, 2009
Most wins ever in MLB history
eponymous_coward - June 25, 2009
That doesn't sound like the Mariners to me.
Eyebrows - June 25, 2009
I know you're absolutely right.
Susheel Ramasahayam - June 25, 2009
This game nullified our season losses. So essentially, we're infinitely over .500!!!!!
.Taylor - June 25, 2009
Or 37 over .500
Jeff Sullivan - June 25, 2009
0-0 isn't .500
.Taylor - June 25, 2009
I seem to have forgotten maths
.Taylor - June 25, 2009
So I can't post funk blast gif bomb until the subject lines are fixed?
Poochie - June 25, 2009
They're sidebarred!
Aaron Campeau - June 25, 2009
So is that a blank check for mayhem?
