Yes let's walk two straight batters with one out on purpose.
Mariner John - June 3, 2009
At the time it was the right call..
But if the infield wasn’t in on the grass, that’s likely a double play ball.. Yay for circumstances!
seattlesundevil - June 3, 2009
Those hitters do not matter and they set up force plays.
It is absolutely the right call even ignoring that they were Ichiro and Branyan
Matthew - June 3, 2009
Yeah, they play you are most worried about in that situation is the squeeze
and having the bases loaded takes that away and wipes out the team’s two best hitters. I don’t see how it couldn’t be the correct call.
Poochie - June 4, 2009
I guess you could argue that it drew the infield forward and didn't allow them to have a high enough amount of range.
Mariner John - June 4, 2009
A groundout scores a run
so you really have no choice but to play in and go for a X-2-3 DP
Poochie - June 4, 2009
The infield would have to be in anyways.
Matthew - June 4, 2009
I'm guessing the Orioles could've used that homerun in the first inning.
ThundaPC - June 3, 2009
Yahoo! gave it to them.
Mariner John - June 3, 2009
Ohh Mariners
I wish I knew how to quit you.
PDXTai - June 3, 2009
For the gif-hungry among you
Jeff Sullivan - June 3, 2009
Felix!
Teej - June 3, 2009
Lopez...
needs to calm down…2 punches to the kidneys and a kick to the ribs.
It’s all fun and games until someone needs dialysis.
PLU Tim - June 3, 2009
Agreed, that's a bit sick. Kicking? What's that about?
Seems a bit passive/aggressive
Sinking Away - June 3, 2009
Actually it seems like the opposite of passive-aggressive
Graham MacAree - June 3, 2009
I should have said aggressive-passive?
Right, but that’s just sick. I didn’t want to call him sick. With his pathetic defense and clueless offense that just seemed cruel.
Sinking Away - June 3, 2009
Felix is kicking him in butt? WTF?
Why doesn’t he just take a bat to his head?
mark sobba - June 3, 2009
That seems like a legitimate question.
Sinking Away - June 3, 2009
It's funny to look at the 1st one and imagine Beltre got that hit in some random middle inning.
MFAN - June 3, 2009
In that first one..I think we know how to get Yuni back in shape. That's the fastest I've seen him run AND HIS ARMS ARE DOWN!
kentroyals5 - June 4, 2009
If Yuni pursued grounballs like he does teammates that just hit a game winning single
He might still have some value.
Sec 108 - June 4, 2009
Yaydrian is so running away from Yuni
Kirsten Schlewitz - June 4, 2009
YUNI COCKPUNCH
abender20 - June 4, 2009
Jesus he really goes for those nuts
abender20 - June 4, 2009
Good thing Ugueth Urbina isn't on the team.
Mariner John - June 4, 2009
BAHAHAHAHA that image is rad
.Taylor - June 3, 2009
How did I miss that the ump who blew the HR/foul call was Guccione?
msb - June 3, 2009
O good gravy that call SUCKED!!!
I was in 108, and looked to the left to see where the ball landed. It was so far foul I couldn’t believe it wasn’t a no-brainer call. It landed in the seats about 1 or 2 sectsions to the right side of the foul pole. I went ballistic when they called it a HR. So badly so that my kid kept hitting me for using every word in the book — “STOP SAYING BAD WORDS, DAD!!!”
PositivePaul - June 4, 2009
On replay it was very very close
Jeff Sullivan - June 4, 2009
I was just wondering...
…if it’s too late to get back on the Beltre bandwagon.
Last 13 games: .421/.441/.561
AnotherAaron - June 3, 2009
It's never too late, he's a streaky guy.
Sinking Away - June 3, 2009
I'm still convinced Brad Bergeson and Brian Burres are the same person.
Mariner John - June 3, 2009
Brian Burres is a lefty
Jeff Sullivan - June 3, 2009
They are still white and have similar generic names and are not good.
Mariner John - June 3, 2009
I have never met anyone with the last names Burres or Bergeson
waldo rojas - June 4, 2009
Hello, one of those is my last name, nice to meat you
d0nkey - June 4, 2009
Burros means donkey.
i would find it humorous if your name was Donkey Burros.
CapSea - June 4, 2009
Rob Johnson says hi!
.Taylor - June 4, 2009
That's how he gets you.
CapSea - June 3, 2009
Betancourt hasn't run that fast since 2005.
What a total waste.
Sinking Away - June 3, 2009
This was a statement game.
Ichiro is selfish for IBBing.
Clement is better than Rob Johnson.
Cedeno should be at short.
HARPER!
Mariner John - June 3, 2009
Someone is going to say this is a statement game.
Which means another 6 game losing streak and and 0-21 slump for Beltre.
Plus, his butt will be so sore from Felix we won’t even be able to bench him.
PDXTai - June 3, 2009
But it is a statement game clearly.
Mariner John - June 4, 2009
The statement being "Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good"
PDXTai - June 4, 2009
The statement is actually, "We did not lose tonight."
Sec 108 - June 4, 2009
Robert up to 26.4%!
seattlebruin - June 4, 2009
I am going to enjoy this recap over the next 3 months.
I love it.
Wilder. - June 4, 2009
The perfect compliment to the game WE chart
.Taylor - June 4, 2009
This one idea is going to be my rec gravy train for the year
seattlebruin - June 5, 2009
The upward spike in the middle looks like a penis.
Matthew - June 4, 2009
Hopefully not yours.
Sec 108 - June 4, 2009
Robert never had that much of a chance at my penis.
