How about that, the guy called up to pitch for Randy Johnson on the DL pitched a no-hitter. Yeah, it was against the Padres, who make our Ms look like offsensive geniuses.
Another reason why Lincecum is so great — he was mad at himself for how ‘bad’ he pitched yesterday, a no-hitter going into the 7th inning…
the first two pitches were right on the border. As is, the count was 2-0, and that’s fine. But it also could’ve easily been 1-1 or even 0-2, and then who knows? On the plus side, that home run won’t matter, on account of us.
It was .125 higher a month ago when he was batting .320. You can feel him getting less patient, either pressure or green-lighted to go for his personal best HR record.
Yet again, Wak takes out Garrett Olson after he pitches great. Then in 1/3 of an inning, Shawn Kelly gives up 2 runs (54.0 ERA). Wak has to take some blame for this one.
Good news of the bad news is that the Ms actually rallied a bit in the 8th. Not Angels or Orioles quality rallying, but it was something.
Who was that dufus calling the game next to Blowers?
That jerk jinxed Ichiro’s at-bat! While Ichiro’s up there, this moron was talking about some minor leaguer’s hitting streak being broken.
What a gawdamn buzz-killing thing to talk about when the home team is down a couple runs in the ninth, and the 1-2-3 hitters coming to the plate!!!
I can't believe Sanchez hasn't walked anyone yet
Jeff Sullivan - July 10, 2009
The Padres have been no-hit through six innings two days in a row.
Teej - July 10, 2009
Johnathan Sanchez is throwing a no hitter
Poochie - July 10, 2009
through what?
M'sin.. - July 10, 2009
1 inning.
mark sobba - July 10, 2009
If anyone could do it for him it's the Madres
Bottom 7th
lemonverbena - July 10, 2009
Against the Padres.
Although you’d have to put an asterisk by it because the Padres are a joke.
russak - July 10, 2009
I'm watching this game until it is over or the perfect game is destroyed.
Wilder. - July 10, 2009
Through 7 IP!
Wilder. - July 10, 2009
And Lincecum flirted with one last night, too.
gregrabble - July 10, 2009
Kouzmanoff struck out on a pitch that hit him.
Teej - July 10, 2009
That was hilarious.
Wilder. - July 10, 2009
He should be one of us!
Jeff Sullivan - July 10, 2009
I mean perfect game
MLB network is awesome for stuff like this
Poochie - July 10, 2009
And he did it!
LauraBu - July 10, 2009
The Mariners are offsensitive geniuses. Bastards.
calim - July 10, 2009
Emo.
msb - July 10, 2009
Offsensitive, I like it!
Better than unassuming geniuses that nobody is afraid of, I guess.
LauraBu - July 10, 2009
I would like to think that LL is made up of offensive geniuses
Jeff Sullivan - July 10, 2009
That would make a good LL award, I can't believe this hasn't been done
Kermit. - July 10, 2009
He was already on the roster
Poochie - July 10, 2009
I show know by now to check stuff that guys on FSN say...
My bad. I parroted what FSN said when they cut to a clip of Sanchez’ final pitch. My fault for not checking.
LauraBu - July 10, 2009
Someday we won't even need irony
lemonverbena - July 10, 2009

Fuckmikereilly - July 10, 2009
There's not a lot to do here.

Garces - July 10, 2009

Jeff Sullivan - July 10, 2009
I like what you did there.
TrashiDawa - July 10, 2009
So how are we going to win this one?
Poochie - July 10, 2009
Griffey grand slam
gregrabble - July 10, 2009
Tony Gwynn lost a lot of weight
Poochie - July 10, 2009
I can't get over how they don't announce him as Tony Gwynn Jr at the ballpark
Jeff Sullivan - July 10, 2009
Maybe he doesn't like it
Poochie - July 10, 2009
He's was always Anthony before, even at San Diego State
lemonverbena - July 10, 2009
It's confusing, like with Cal Ripken.
LauraBu - July 10, 2009
So we can mark the 7th as a 0.

WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU OFFENSE?!
Fuckmikereilly - July 10, 2009

First strikeout for Feldman

Jeff Sullivan - July 10, 2009
Just lay down and take it Ronny, that way Ichiro will lead off the 8th
gregrabble - July 10, 2009
He can't even do that right.
He should’ve been on the 2008 Mariners.

Poochie - July 10, 2009
Wow, fuck you Yankees pitching
gregrabble - July 10, 2009

gregrabble - July 10, 2009
I thought the Yankees were ahead.
M'sin.. - July 10, 2009
Yankees tied it up by tossing a cookie to Morales.

Poochie - July 10, 2009

Eyeball Kid - July 10, 2009
Fun fact
So as a proxy for number of times stranded: (1B+2B+3B+BB+HBP)-(R+HR)
Not counting today, Ichiro comes out with 86 times this year.
Hank Blalock has 9.
Manzanillos Cup - July 10, 2009
Wow, that's ugly.
Sinking Away - July 10, 2009
Poor Ichiro. What a waste, we need another bat in the middle desperately.
But Blalock’s number is amazingly low.
They got too much oomph in Texas for some reason.
Sam Regens - July 10, 2009
Super.

Late, but I really liked how Olson looked

Why start the game with a disadvantage?
Sam Regens - July 10, 2009
Morrow is better than those guys.
Teej - July 10, 2009
Hindsight is the best sight
Jeff Sullivan - July 10, 2009
Lincecum!

Kermit. - July 10, 2009
That's because we're always having random goofy conversation.
royalcurve - July 10, 2009
So, Goofy.
Why was he a single dad in all those Disney cartoons?

LauraBu - July 10, 2009

Teej - July 10, 2009
I'd still do him if it would get his arm to Seattle
Which is why guys become sports stars and rock musicians. Chicks dig the long ball!
LauraBu - July 11, 2009
Better than blind love.
I would prefer Morrow get seasoning in Tacoma than worsening our chances up here.
Sam Regens - July 10, 2009
Who blindly loves Brandon Morrow?
He’s still a better starter than Garrett Olson.
Jeff Sullivan - July 10, 2009
Watching his starts versus Olson's start, you could have fooled me.
I agree fully that he has the better stuff.
But he seems like a damn headcase. It may be preference, but I can’t stand watching headcases.
Sam Regens - July 10, 2009
Olson's starts, that is
Sam Regens - July 10, 2009
Jeez, did I fuck up the "reply" button? Meant to reply to Jeff.

Interesting at bat to Cruz
the first two pitches were right on the border. As is, the count was 2-0, and that’s fine. But it also could’ve easily been 1-1 or even 0-2, and then who knows? On the plus side, that home run won’t matter, on account of us.

Why not walk Gutz and use Holland for Langerhans? I know the intentional walk is stupid, but it seems like Gutz is on fire and Langerhans is a lefty.
Fuckmikereilly - July 10, 2009
Because then the tying run comes to home plate and we do in theory have Shelton on the bench

Teej - July 10, 2009
And Francisco is extraordinarily good
Jeff Sullivan - July 10, 2009
Also, his BABIP is lower than his LD%
Vatinius - July 10, 2009
Branyan doesn't handle pressure
Which is why he bats 2nd. Look at how many of his HRs have been solos. If he’s up first in an inning the probability goes way up.

Eyeball Kid - July 10, 2009
He's the best hitter on the team and that's all there is to it
OlSalty - July 10, 2009
Unfortunately not lately, BA .285 and dropping
He’s still hot though!
LauraBu - July 10, 2009
Looking at BA alone is useless.
Branyan is second on the team in OBP, and his SLG is almost 100 points higher than the next-best guy. He’s been the best hitter on the team.
Teej - July 10, 2009
I agree he's awesome, but
I just don’t think he believes it quite yet himself. That he’s the guy who can crush the ball out in a do-or-die situation and win the game.
Let’s hope he rests up during the All-Star break. He seems to come out swinging after a day or two off.
LauraBu - July 11, 2009
Also, his OBP is < .100 more than his BA
It was .125 higher a month ago when he was batting .320. You can feel him getting less patient, either pressure or green-lighted to go for his personal best HR record.
LauraBu - July 11, 2009
To be precise, OBP is .384, BA is .283.
LauraBu - July 11, 2009
Why can't Branyan hit these pitches?
He keeps swinging through them.
Wilder. - July 10, 2009

We lose and Matsui was 5 feet away from hitting a grand slam against the Angels.

2010 MLB DRAFT: BULLPEN ARM.
russak - July 10, 2009
We just traded for two.
Wilder. - July 10, 2009
Our need for BP arms is insatiable.
russak - July 10, 2009
Also have Fields and Aumont
Are we reasonably sure these guys aren’t already better than what we have up here?
calim - July 10, 2009
NO NO NO
OlSalty - July 10, 2009
That would be particularly retarded.
Teej - July 10, 2009
But we need them
Kermit. - July 10, 2009
Oh well.

Let's just forget this game.
And pretend it is last night?
M'sin.. - July 10, 2009
Works for me.
Eyeball Kid - July 10, 2009
Gutierrez's HR tonight was awesome!
M'sin.. - July 10, 2009
And how about Felix striking out the the side in the 8th?!
Eyeball Kid - July 10, 2009
Man that was a great dinner.
Too bad I didn;t get to watch the game.
msb - July 10, 2009
At least we got rid of all those damn ni
Jeff Sullivan - July 10, 2009
Niggers?
Poochie - July 10, 2009
I guess we only got rid of half of one
Jeff Sullivan - July 10, 2009
According to one statistic I saw LL's traffic is 1.9% African-American

Kermit. - July 10, 2009
I don't know if this is trending up or down
Jeff Sullivan - July 10, 2009
Did you ban Teej as well?
Poochie - July 10, 2009
I blame Morrow and Kelley
Sam Regens - July 10, 2009
I personally blame the Yankees and Bud Selig.
Teej - July 10, 2009
Well Kelley is obviously to blame
You have one job, to get one out, and he can’t do it without giving up 2 runs.
Bring up Cortes for the bullpen now!
twags - July 10, 2009
Obviously
Jeff Sullivan - July 10, 2009
I blame that fan out in RF that messed with Ichiro on that 3-run home run by Michael Young.
Wilder. - July 10, 2009
Yuni's gone!
calim - July 10, 2009
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo
Teej - July 10, 2009
I am happy but if we don't subsequently make a move for another shortstop I will be a little less happy
Jeff Sullivan - July 10, 2009
Also this.
Eyeball Kid - July 10, 2009
I hear Khalil Greene is available!
Poochie - July 10, 2009
I can't believe :(edeno is this bad
Jeff Sullivan - July 10, 2009
He has five line drives
Jeff Sullivan - July 10, 2009
To go with his four homers
Poochie - July 10, 2009
Wahoo!
Eyeball Kid - July 10, 2009
What do you mean Krueger we would have had a chance?
It would have been tied.
M'sin.. - July 10, 2009
Change one thing you change everything
If Kelley doesn’t allow that homer, you can’t assume we would have scored exactly two runs.
calim - July 10, 2009
You're right
We would have had more life and we would have subsequently gone out to score 3 runs to win the game
twags - July 10, 2009
It's possible — maybe the infield would have been in on Langerhans' grounder and it would have been a hit and we'd have scored five
Also, Tejas might have used pitchers differently or thrown different pitches or defended differently and we’d have lost by two anyway.
calim - July 10, 2009
THANK YOU
Jeff Sullivan - July 10, 2009
Yuni wore 42 as well for you collectors out there
Poochie - July 10, 2009
What if Betancourt was up in the 9th.. We probably would have won.
M'sin.. - July 10, 2009
Hahaha. Good one!
Sam Regens - July 10, 2009
Frickafracking Kelley and Wakamatsu
Yet again, Wak takes out Garrett Olson after he pitches great. Then in 1/3 of an inning, Shawn Kelly gives up 2 runs (54.0 ERA). Wak has to take some blame for this one.
Good news of the bad news is that the Ms actually rallied a bit in the 8th. Not Angels or Orioles quality rallying, but it was something.
LauraBu - July 10, 2009
Uh ohs...
Wilder. - July 10, 2009
Here come the Wakamoles.
ThundaPC - July 10, 2009
Olson's job was to get lefties
Jeff Sullivan - July 10, 2009
We aren't going to care about this game once we've won the next two
gregrabble - July 10, 2009
Now to go read the "Losing tonight would be a buzzkill" post.
ThundaPC - July 10, 2009
Who was that dufus calling the game next to Blowers?
That jerk jinxed Ichiro’s at-bat! While Ichiro’s up there, this moron was talking about some minor leaguer’s hitting streak being broken.
What a gawdamn buzz-killing thing to talk about when the home team is down a couple runs in the ninth, and the 1-2-3 hitters coming to the plate!!!
Fire that jerk!
Blueberry_Icecream - July 10, 2009
Hmmm...
Karma Police - July 10, 2009
This is the best first comment I've ever seen
gregrabble - July 10, 2009
Well I'll be
Jeff Sullivan - July 10, 2009
How old are you?
Because if you are older than 5, you should know who he is.

Pretty sure it was Rissz
gregrabble - July 10, 2009
Ah. I don't listen anymore.
Teej - July 10, 2009
Good news!
Tui played 3B tonight on his rehab assignment. And homered.
Fuckmikereilly - July 10, 2009
call him up RITE NOW
w00tah - July 10, 2009
I believe this to be a fantastic idea.
Fuckmikereilly - July 10, 2009
Erick Aybar just hit a 3-run home run.
Wilder. - July 10, 2009
Yeah. Being anything more than the third wheel
is looking less likely by the minute.
Fuckmikereilly - July 10, 2009
Motherfuck
OlSalty - July 10, 2009
Fuentes will blow it
calim - July 10, 2009
HOW ARE THEY THEM
Jeff Sullivan - July 10, 2009
If we start tanking now we can still get the 5th pick in the draft.
russak - July 10, 2009
If we tank, we'd better be the best at it this time.
No mediocre 2nd-best tanking this year. We need to be the best at something. If we’re gonna suck, let’s be the #1 sucker.
LauraBu - July 10, 2009
Slurp.
russak - July 10, 2009
She'd make a great head coach. Put her on the staff.
LauraBu - July 11, 2009
So. Washburn with another 1 hitter tomorrow?
M'sin.. - July 10, 2009
It will be so.
gregrabble - July 10, 2009
BREAKING NEWS!!
All of the Angels team has shrinked to midgets!

That still makes them better players that :(edeno and Rob Johnson

Jeff Sullivan - July 10, 2009
Really? I haven't checked the stats but it seems that way
OlSalty - July 10, 2009
Tear down time
Poochie - July 10, 2009
If I knew where Young lived he'd have quite the pile of feces to clean off his lawn.
russak - July 10, 2009
You should probably just go shit all willy-nilly in Seattle hotels until the series is over
Jeff Sullivan - July 10, 2009
Is it wrong that I still laugh at poop jokes?
calim - July 10, 2009
No, as long as you don't do it in public.
M'sin.. - July 10, 2009
The willy-nilly really sells it
Kermit. - July 10, 2009
On a slightly different note. Which hotel do opposing teams stay in now when in Seattle?
They used to stay at the Crowne Plaza, but not anymore. Anybody know?
Sinking Away - July 10, 2009
ESPN has it all screwed up
One of ESPN’s headlines on its website is “Mets land Braves’ Francoeur in trade”
It definitely should be “Braves fleece Mets in a one-for-one trade as they land Ryan Church”
twags - July 10, 2009
I just got a brilliant idea!
Have the bullpen wear those cool warrior helmets. Then, it would intimidate them..
M'sin.. - July 10, 2009
Might help in visualizing the strike zone too.
LauraBu - July 10, 2009
Also, what we need to do is add Jim Cavaziel to our lineup.
Did you see those swings!?
M'sin.. - July 10, 2009
So I'm ready for a fresh arm in the pen.
And just in case anyone forgot YUNI’S GONE WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
