And fact that Wak went on the record saying Olson will remain in the rotation.
ThundaPC - July 18, 2009 reply
There’s still space for RRS w/o bumping Olson. Cross your fingers!

Now let’s hurry up and trade Washburn so he can get into the rotation

Hope he gets the call up soon.

What was his clocked fastball speed?
Roy Weaver Stuckey - July 18, 2009 reply
RRS is not a fireballer.
Wilder. - July 18, 2009 reply
He needs to be around 88 as a starter to be effective in the majors, and he was around 84-86 at one point.
Aaron Campeau - July 18, 2009 reply
It’s hard to imagine him missing that many bats if he was throwing 86.
OlSalty - July 19, 2009 reply
he’ll be much less effective if his velocity is still down.
seattlebruin - July 20, 2009 reply
levnclf - July 18, 2009 reply
Low velocity would be a strong indicator that he’s not fully healthy even if he is killing people.
DAMellen - July 18, 2009 reply
He still needs to be around where he was last year.
Does anyone know what two pitches RRS has been using in AAA to get guys out? It seems like he striking guys out a lot more than his usual rate?
and then remembered they don’t have any pfx data in minor league games.
twags - July 18, 2009 reply
But he could have given runs in other ways as well. I just wasn’t sure if those were the only runs given up

If you'll please excuse me - I need a cigarette
sooper jeenyus - July 18, 2009
Uh-oh, 7 IP means it's not likely he'll start for the Ms in Detroit.
LauraBu - July 18, 2009
Well that...
And fact that Wak went on the record saying Olson will remain in the rotation.
ThundaPC - July 18, 2009
Not necessarily exclusive -- we're on a 4 man rotation right now, right?
There’s still space for RRS w/o bumping Olson. Cross your fingers!
LauraBu - July 18, 2009
He should be up sooner than Morrow at any rate
Bearskin Rugburn - July 18, 2009
Awesome!
Now let’s hurry up and trade Washburn so he can get into the rotation
tootthekazoo - July 18, 2009
Your point?

AussieAussieAussieOiOiOi.
msb - July 18, 2009
Even against a AAA team, those are some impressive numbers.
Hope he gets the call up soon.
Heydude - July 18, 2009
More importantly...
What was his clocked fastball speed?
Roy Weaver Stuckey - July 18, 2009
Actually, that isn't important.
RRS is not a fireballer.
Wilder. - July 18, 2009
It's somewhat important.
He needs to be around 88 as a starter to be effective in the majors, and he was around 84-86 at one point.
Aaron Campeau - July 18, 2009
But if he's generating 16% swinging strikes suffice it to say whatever he was throwing was working
It’s hard to imagine him missing that many bats if he was throwing 86.
OlSalty - July 19, 2009
AAA
he’ll be much less effective if his velocity is still down.
seattlebruin - July 20, 2009
Yes, but it would be nice to see that his fastball is in the high 80's at least.
levnclf - July 18, 2009
That doesn't mean it's not important.
Low velocity would be a strong indicator that he’s not fully healthy even if he is killing people.
DAMellen - July 18, 2009
He's not a fireballer but
He still needs to be around where he was last year.
Does anyone know what two pitches RRS has been using in AAA to get guys out? It seems like he striking guys out a lot more than his usual rate?
Roy Weaver Stuckey - July 18, 2009
I checked the MiLB gameday
and then remembered they don’t have any pfx data in minor league games.
levnclf - July 18, 2009
So did RRS give up just 2 ER last night?
twags - July 18, 2009
2 solo HRs.
Roy Weaver Stuckey - July 18, 2009
Yea I saw that
But he could have given runs in other ways as well. I just wasn’t sure if those were the only runs given up
twags - July 18, 2009
Rainiers won 6-3 and Angel Sanchez had an RBI sac fly off of Massengil in the 9th.
Aaron Campeau - July 18, 2009
Call up that sexy sexy man NOW!!!
I Lick Squirrels - July 18, 2009
He actually seems to be better than his old self if he keeps this up
