What's that a picture of?
DAMellen - July 27, 2009
Death chamber I think
royalcurve - July 27, 2009
I believe it's specifically a gas chamber.
Eyebrows - July 27, 2009
For .5 seconds I thought it was the fanciest, most beautiful hyperbaric chamber I've ever seen
It’s just that easy to get people into the shower
Kermit. - July 27, 2009
Lethal injection chamber!
Jeff Sullivan - July 27, 2009
I'm depressed.
JamMasterJesus - July 27, 2009
Me too
but I digress
gilmeche55 - July 27, 2009
So this tailspin of death is becoming something of a yearly tradition
Only four games so far, true, but what they lack in quantity they sure make up in the quality of the suck.
Bearskin Rugburn - July 27, 2009
Seattle Mariners - the relapse will get you every time
serotonein - July 27, 2009
Angels lose!
Poochie - July 27, 2009
Did the Angels win?
brian_sun - July 27, 2009
Negative.
Eyebrows - July 27, 2009

seattlebruin - July 28, 2009
Can someone please write a limerick explaining what happened to Felix tonight?
maalox - July 27, 2009
I think you are allowed to have a bad night after 7 or 8 dominant starts.
brian_sun - July 27, 2009
That wasn't a limerick
maalox - July 27, 2009
Feel free to write your own.
Eyebrows - July 27, 2009
There once was a king named Felix
Who through piches that curved like a helix
Then came a day
He gave up hits to a Jay
And our playoffs got eaten by a TRex
Whoopetydoo - July 27, 2009
There once was a GM named Jack Z
Who built a good team out of debris
But along came July
Kicked the playoffs goodbye
HOLY FUCK send Washburn to Milwaukee
CapSea - July 27, 2009
Holy crap that is good
Kermit. - July 27, 2009
Please don't kill this meme LL community.
Mariner John - July 27, 2009
You mean the the poetry thread? Oh hell no, I wouldn't have rec'd it if I thought it was the same thing
I firmly believe (but will stand to reasonable correction), that limericks and poetry of that type are completely different. Oil and water, both are liquids but they don’t mix.
Kermit. - July 28, 2009
Also I would like to point out that one surefire way to kill a meme is to refer to it as a meme and then tell everyone you hope it doesn't die.
The fact that that word has been used over 1400 times on this site also irritates me to no end, if for no other reason that you’ll hear the word approximately never in every day conversation.
CapSea - July 28, 2009
I just meant I didn't want 15 limericks to come right after you wrote that.
I shouldn’t have used the word meme I guess.
Mariner John - July 28, 2009
2010!!!
Optimism
SethGrandpa - July 27, 2009
I think the phrase "Biggest Contribution: Rob Johnson" tells you all you need to know
Spoomeister - July 27, 2009
But it's not true.
He sucked tonight. Felix didn’t do well at all.
Eyebrows - July 27, 2009
The Bedard game and tonight's game really hurt Rob Johnson's CERA.
Maybe Washburn will correct that tomorrow, NOT! If Washburn makes his start tomorrow, I will puke.
brian_sun - July 27, 2009
This suit is black
…
…
…
…
NOT!
Bearskin Rugburn - July 27, 2009
Hopefully with Bedard on the DL and Jarrod Washburn traded by the 31st,
We will only see Rob Johnson every 5th day.
brian_sun - July 27, 2009
Was Wash at the game today?
Its a long flight to Milwaukee if he is starting tomorrow.
Whoopetydoo - July 27, 2009
I think that would be positive. Read Geoff Baker's pregame notes
contains lots of Washburn quotes.
brian_sun - July 27, 2009
I didn't realize Jamie Moyer just became the second pitcher to win 10+ games after the age of 46 tonight.
and that is with a 5.32 ERA.
brian_sun - July 27, 2009
ERA sucks.
JamMasterJesus - July 27, 2009
Although noteworthy simply because of his win total
Jeff Sullivan - July 27, 2009
Thank you for finishing that.
I thought no one ever would.
JamMasterJesus - July 27, 2009
What's funny is his FIP and tRA are even worse.
Teej - July 27, 2009
This is one of his down years.
He has a down year that makes everyone think he’s about done but then he follows it up with a few better years. It’s some kind of cycle…like cicadas. Age has nothing to do with any of this because age is irrelevant to Jamie. The crawl to 300 continues.
Big Jared - July 28, 2009
This loss really makes me feel empty...
Everything this season was going right, hell it was going that way even since yesterday. I accepted that we were not going to win this season, and was ready to enjoy watch Michael Saunders in the big leagues, and Felix Hernandez make a run at the Cy Young.
Now…not so much. It feels like the life has been sucked out of this team. Ichiro and Gutierrez are still kicking ass, which is fantastic. But right now it just seems like Felix has been KO’d of the Cy Young race. I know I’m way ahead of myself in that assessment, but Greinke just refuses to falter.
Ugh, I really hope we make a trade now, because the way things are going I feel that even that will let me down. Shades of 2004!
OceanBird - July 27, 2009
Shades of 2004?
What?
Aaron Campeau - July 27, 2009
Watching this game - this game in particular - was reminiscent of watching games in 2004
Jeff Sullivan - July 27, 2009
I didn't hate 2004 because I actually liked a lot of the players on that team and their was abundant hope in the near future.
Robert - July 27, 2009
Anybody remember 2004 Yuni?
JamMasterJesus - July 27, 2009
Maybe Bob Engle and the 5 or so Mexicans that watched him play.
I guarantee that you don’t.
CapSea - July 27, 2009
He was so good.
JamMasterJesus - July 27, 2009
Nah it felt like last year
Poochie - July 27, 2009
Same feeling
Jeff Sullivan - July 27, 2009
Agree to disagree
Poochie - July 28, 2009
I think it felt like 2010 will
Bearskin Rugburn - July 28, 2009
Yeah, this game reminded me of 2004
What a shitty fucking year THAT was. Holy crap, at least last season was fun to watch. I guess Ichiro did break the record that year, but for me, a Mariner fan who had just moved to California (and had to deal with A’s fans…), I didn’t get to see any coverage of that. My favorite part was ESPN didn’t give a fuck that history was being made. What did we have to look forward to that season? Olerud, Boone, Wilson and Edgar were done.
I remember all the hoopla over Bucky Jacobson, having to check Gameday to see Jolbert Cabrera and Hiram Bocachica in the lineup, my brother setting himself up for disappointment when he’d tell me Justin Leone was the future of the team. The mere mention of Jeff Cirillo, Scott Spezio, Dave Hansen, and Rich Aurilla is enough to make any Seattle fan want to lay down on the train tracks outside of Safeco.
I remember trying to get excited for Clint Nageotte (Mr Sweat!) and Travis Blackley. Oh, and remember Bobby Madritsch?
I hated 2004, so, much. And I’m honestly glad I didn’t really have any way to watch the games, outside a couple of broadcasts on ESPN. And I’m sure we probably had around four games considering we were good in 2003. I remember one ending on a walkoff single in which Quinton McCracken scored on a walk off hit. I believe it was against the A’s and they brought an outfielder in. Oh whatever, now I’m just going on and on about stuff nobody cares about.
But thank god this team has got itself on track.
OceanBird - July 28, 2009
To 2008 was literally the worst season I have taken part of as a fan.
From the fact that liked 2.5 players on the entire team to having to root for them to lose, if we hadn’t hit a grand slam on the GM hire it would have likely ruined baseball for me.
Robert - July 28, 2009
2004 at least followed a whole shit ton of successful seasons.
2008 was basically “okay this better fucking work because we traded our entire farm syst-OH JESUS FUCK”
Aaron Campeau - July 28, 2009
So does that mean Michael Saunders is Bucky Jacobsen 2.0?
I Lick Squirrels - July 27, 2009
Nah, I think Saunders has WAY more potential.
Heydude - July 27, 2009
Just another outfielder named Not Griffey.
Kermit. - July 27, 2009
That would be Silva
LOL FAT JOKE
Mariner John - July 27, 2009
I immediately regret the use of that acronym, even though it was used ironically.
Mariner John - July 27, 2009
I did that once.
I was quickly warned.
JamMasterJesus - July 27, 2009
Washburn's actually gonna pitch tomorrow isn't he...
Damn it all to hell.
SethGrandpa - July 28, 2009
Don't worry.
He’s going to throw a 21 strikeout perfect game.
I Lick Squirrels - July 28, 2009
28 K no-hitter.
hcoguy - July 28, 2009
Stupid Rob Johnson passed ball blowing the perfect game.
CapSea - July 28, 2009
Wild pitch.
This is Rob Johnson we’re talking about.
Eyeball Kid - July 28, 2009
