I AM IN SUCH A GOOD MOOD
Ah, tough break Squeak.

Yeah, now you gotta fetch the ball, bitch.

Dude It's actually a really nice trade for us

There’s no need to hit your nuts over this. Go over to Fangraphs and let Dave Cameron calm you down.

Fan Graphs is broken
Steve Phillips

I would give them whatever they wanted…

So Washburn = Victor Zambrano?

Hmm..

Scott Kazmir.

:)

I want to hug everyone one here, all the time.

KISS ME ON THE MOUTH.

SQUEAK!
She's got the cutest little upturned nose, the softest lips, the sweetest adam's apple...
Dude, you couldn't get a chick if you had a hundred dollar bill sticking out of your pants
I wish Fangraphs + USSM weren't down

Although USSM being down made me realize there had been a trade announcement in the first place

WHAT? WHAT? WHAT?
Ahhhh this is great!

I guarantee the general public hates this trade as much as they liked the trade for Wilson.

It was so good you repeatedly smacked yourself in the nuts?
Favorites

Does this make the Mariners the favorite to win the AL West in 2010 or 2011?
vr, Xei

No.
Maybe 2012 or 2013 then?
The Mariners are now the 2013 AL West favorites, yes.
I think you have to worry about the 2013 A's. The free agent moves Billy Beane said they'd make in 2012 are going to make them a threat.

:) Thanks.

Glad to see such a happy bunch of fans. I wonder what it would be like if the Ms had hauled in an ever bigger fish!
vr, Xei

It's entirely possible Matthew was pulling your chain there good sir

The fact that this trade does not vault the M’s into contention does not in the least mean it wasn’t a good trade. We unloaded a crappy pitcher that had basically no trade value for two extremely good young players, which speaks very well of Z’s trading ability.

He has a sub 3 ERA, how can you say he didn't have a high trade value?
Because ERA is not a good indicator of talent level and most every FO in the league knows that now
It is a good indicator when it is well polished and shiney
ERA VALUE

Now how the hell can ERA be such a crappy stat? Is it not the best bottom line measure of how many runs ya gotta score to beat the guy on a typical night? Call me ig’nat, but what’s the defect in the methodology here?

Langerhans, there’ve been fishes in the ocean . . . .

Well, to start,

, a pitcher does not have such control over how batters hit against him that the amount of runs that he gives up can be solely contributed to the pitcher. Lot’s of other things can influence runs being given up, including the strength of the lineup, the ballpark the pitcher is playing in, and especially the defense behind the pitcher. Also, “earned” and “un-earned” runs at times is fairly arbitrary.

As a team measure, ERA is a pretty good stat. As far as measuring a pitcher’s abilities, ERA is definitely not a good stat.

Earned runs allowed

is hugely influence by:

-hits allowed. Research shows that pitchers have very little, if any, control over whether a batted ball in play will go for a hit or not. It is very dependent on the quality of defense behind the pitcher
-errors. A subjective decision by a scorekeeper and dependent on him/her and the pitcher’s defense
-the ball park. Are ERAs in Coors and Safeco equivalent? No.
-the league. Are ERAs in the NL and AL equivalent? No.

ERA accounts for none of those things. It’s a misleading stat. Use FIP or tRA.

You are ig'nat.

There you go!

Also, it's ig'n'ant.
Actually, just ign'ant.
Dammit. On many levels.
I like ig'n'ant better. Putting pauses at the apostrophes makes it sound better.
It's entirely possible that d0nkey was pulling your chain there good sir

I shall try to be funny some other time.

And I in turn shall try to be less dense
Good luck to you both.
Luke French is THAT GOOD!
LUKE FRENCH WILL USE HIS POWERS OF FRANCE TO KEEP ERIK BEDARD AROUND FOR NO COST!

AND RETURN AUMONT TO THE ROTATION!

(vr, Matthew)
All French First Line!
I CAN'T BELIEVE IT WORKED
OUR TIM RUSKELL MOMENT

(not that we needed it)

Now I just need to find time to write about it

Think I’ll wait until Lowe is/isn’t traded.

I guess catcher is next on our shopping list
Johnson is growing on me
My Johnson is fully grown

My Johnson is already fully grown.

bleh

Pretty sure I deleted that 2nd line

That's okay, it wasn't particularly funny the first time either
Rough.
Someone has to speak the truth
Hold me

It’s cold in here.

Over your head?

It was a reference to getting a boner from the trade. Totally hilarious.

Kidding though, the funniness may have been lacking but it seemed appropriate.

Bonerz AMIRITE?
Well that's disappointing.
Fungi do that.
You did say his junk area was his one strength.
I defended him back in April

then I saw him play everyday in May.

Until Johnson learns to actually fucking catch the damn baseball, I will hate LOVE him.

Job description: Catcher

Catches the motherfucking baseball. Must be able to perform the catch with men running towards you at full speed. Must also be able to catch said ball with a mask on your face and be able to block people from touching your plate.

Your* Johnson is growing on you.
So, Luke French is our version T.J. Duckett and Mike Wahle.
Yeahhhh.

Outstanding work!

This person appears to be Caucasian

and since we all know Matthew is black, this is clearly a forgery

I thought Matthew was Samoan?
Have you met him?

He’s way wayyyyy too dark to be mistaken for Samoan

Yeah, I guess you're right

I was just confused by the accent.

That's the last time I break out into the original Calypso version of Louie, Louie at a wedding.
but it was jammin mon
I'M SO HAPPY I COULD HUG MIKE REILLY

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

While you're that close is the perfect time to dig a shank in.
