It's pretty interesting to look at how much the organisation has changed since Z took over. 2010's closer, at least two of its starting pitchers, its centre fielder, and its shortstop are all drawn from trades that have occurred since last November. Neat!

Who is Jeremy Green?

Jeremy Reed, on the other hand, sucked.

That "Out" list is unremarkable.
That's what's so awesome.
To be fair,

the “In” list is pretty unremarkable past DA and Gutz. Endy/Snell/Wilson are nice, but not remarkably so.

I think that's overstating it

since there are some pretty nice prospects on that list; and the fact that there are two all-star-caliber players on that list as well is a pretty remarkable thing in itself.

Not to mention getting Langerhans for free to be league average-ish and Hannahan for a similarly low price to be an able stopgap.

And I think you’re selling Endy, Snell and Wilson short.

Also, Vargas? French? Not especially sexy but free and useful.

Mike Morse (DH) says it all.
Of course there are other good guys on the list, but there are good guys on the out list as well.

Just saying that beyond DA and Gutz the lists are roughly comparable.

Yeah, I still don't agree with that at all.

And saying “beyond a young, all-star centerfielder l and a relief ace, both under club control, the list isn’t than impressive” makes the list sound pretty impressive.

No they're really not
Roughly comparable in the sense that a Pinto and a Shelby GT are both "cars"
Yeah, that struck me looking at it, too

For all that I think we overpaid in the Wilson/Snell deal (either that or didn’t get enough money back), the overall record here is pretty remarkable.

And Graham, given that we’ll have three of Zduriencik’s acquisitions in the rotation at the same time, and four who’ve started at one time or another during the season, I think “at least two” is really understating the matter.

I am less annoyed at the Wilson deal after the Washburn deal.

We replaced one of the A-Ball pitchers with a more interesting, younger, more highly advanced A-Ball pitcher and managed to replace Washburn in the rotation without having to pay any of the rest of his contract, which is fairly remarkable.

I forgot Fabian Williamson even existed.

He was who we traded for Aardsma, right?

I guess that worked out ok.
Dr. Z is in the office, to cure our woes.
Please forgive my ignorance...

But I am assuming players that came in and out through trades didn’t make the list, right? (Cedeno)

And along those same lines, what about FA's

Can someone post the list of players signed since Dr. Z has begun medicating? Thanks in advance.

I bet they cancel each other out.
Heilman also is canceled out...

For those of you scoring at home, Aaron Heilman was an in and out (burger) kind of player, just as :(edeno was.

Can someone break down the 3.4 and 2 Million dollars? I’d love to know which team got the 2 and who we got the 3.4 from (I’m guessing Pit here)

KC got the $2 million when we dumped Yuni on them.
And yep, the 3.4 was from Pitt.
Did you forget the Morse for Langerhans deal?

Or does that just not matter enough to count?

They're in there.
I'm pretty sure they weren't when I posted it...

Oh, the power of edits.

Has there been any thought to changing the Sexson picture at the top of the site?

It truly feels like we are worlds away from where we were at that point. Could be a symbolic change. That am I’m sick of being reminded of Sexson’s stint here.

There has been cosniderable mention of this, after almost every win streak and/or GMZ move.

And it is an awesome logo and I’d prefer it never be changed, even if we win the world series 150 years in a row. Starbucks doesn’t change its logo just because it no longer serves naked mermaids in Fremont.

...

There was a previous Sexson logo too, before some guy made it more pretty/photoshopped

But the general image is the same, just like the Starbucks logo.

Jeff made the first one.

I prettied it up.

So everyone shut up about changing the logo.

It’s my baby.

I think it's time you asexually reproduce a second child
But that's not the fun way.
This, sir, is a very true statement
I still can't believe you're not a Mariners fan.
Because he delights in our being reminded of our suffering?
I honestly can't think of a better one right now.
I still say it should be the Felix/Guti embrace.
This entire discussion is not on topic,

So it should probably not be in this thread. In addition, Sexson sad is the embodiment of being a Mariner fan. It is what we have been through since 1977 (or in my case, 1983), and even with the successful front office, we still go through it today. We still expect them to fail when things go bad. We expect good things to not work out and bad things to come. And we always will. That’s what Seattle fandom is like, and that’s what the image represents. Jeff could well choose to change it someday at his leisure, but while it’s there I don’t see any good reason that anyone should ever have a problem with it, no matter how successful we become or how well we are run. The Sexson image was not a “current event” that is now passed. It was the perfect example of what being a Mariner fan has been like throughout the existence of this team.

I don't epect those things anymore but until we get back to the playoffs ina legitimate fashion I want the current logo to stay.
Who the in the hell really cares about the logo??
And AC, by that, I mean you're right.
I care because it sets the tone.

I’m weird that way.

I love the current logo.
I think it's iconic and hilarious

“Oh god we’re the Seattle Mariners. Please don’t look at me.”

Some us still miss the sinking ship.
Well, Sexson is the sinking ship personified.
The logo is perfect and when people ask to change it they seem to miss the general point of LL
Richie Sexon is pointing right at it!

There’s more symbology around this joint than a Masonic retreat in the Catskills.

And if you look at the picture closely, he is pointing towards the floor, but you can't see it.

THERE IS NO FLOOR!

I like how you quoted "SS" for Yuni
I needed this, thanks

I’ll need to come back to this every time I lament the weak offense or occasional egg laid by an Ms starter. Z really has worked well and worked fast. This winter is going to be the most fun as an Ms fan in a while.

GMZ has to be in the logo, right?
rec'd for incredibly obvious reaons.
Reply fail.

Franlkly though, something that awesome doesn’t need proper approvaval.

Jack Wilson, and Omar Vizquel

Looking at b-ref, is it fair to say ‘08 Jack Wilson (last full season), compares favorably to Omar’s last season with the Mariners? Looks roughly comparable to me, if so it is amusing the M’s have come full circle back to Omar.
