I jotted down a whole page's worth of material about the game this afternoon, but I left it at work, and like any good writer I'm useless without my notes, so here's a funny picture.
Jason Vargas threw 28 changeups today. 19 were strikes, and 11 were swung on and missed. It's something.

What game?
there was no game today. I checked the standings. We’re still 3.5 behind the Angels.

Right, denial works wonders.
I like this perspective nonetheless.
Sinking Away - July 8, 2009
Also, apparently Baltimore had no hits and still managed to score 5 runs in the 9th.
Remember when that really happened to the Angels, they threw a no-hitter and lost? Best day ever.

What a craptastic game to drive 6 hours for.
At least Lopez hit a home run and Gutierrez made a sweet catch. That was cool.

There you go. You got something in person. So, not a total waste.
If it’s a season to remember, you’ll never forget it.
Sinking Away - July 8, 2009
Yeah because the #2 fan of Jose Lopez enjoyed watching Loafie shit the bed to end the game

Why aren't we sending Morrow's ass down instead of Vargas?
Sam Regens - July 8, 2009
Cause he still has a game to pitch pre-All-Star break.
SethGrandpa - July 8, 2009
Also Morrow is the least of our problems right now.
Mariner John - July 8, 2009
Right, but I'd still be nice to send him down for a couple weeks to...oh I dunno...work on location and a second pitch.
SethGrandpa - July 8, 2009
Yes but there are many other people we could send down.
Plus he’s our only RHSP besides Felix.
Mariner John - July 8, 2009
He also has the potential to be the second or third best starter on this team
Yeah he may not have shown it yet, but he’s gotten past the stretching out part (which was some of why he had to go to Tacoma) and he can still probably be serviceable while figuring out how the fuck to control his breaking stuff/all of his stuff.
Fuckmikereilly - July 8, 2009
I bet if you had a fantasy team lots of people would care about it.
Poochie - July 8, 2009
He does have a fantasy team.
PositivePaul - July 9, 2009
The girl I can understand but the dogs are just weird
OlSalty - July 9, 2009
That was Jeff's former love.
CapSea - July 9, 2009
What?!? Mrs. Jeff and Jeff went separate ways?
I completely missed the news. Couldn’t tell from Jeff’s writing.
Sam Regens - July 9, 2009
I believe that's Eliza Dushku.
Wilder. - July 9, 2009
Ayup.
PositivePaul - July 9, 2009
Thanks, you guys got good eyes.
I remembered that Mrs. Jeff was a brunette.
Sam Regens - July 9, 2009
I know, I'm just questioning why his fantasy team consists of Eliza Dushku and two dogs
OlSalty - July 9, 2009
She's a Red Sox fan?
abender20 - July 9, 2009
.
Indeed
Poochie - July 9, 2009
I know. Isn't it awful?

Season over. Selling time!
Seriously, though, is Washburn’s value ever going to be higher? We’ve got 7 players right now capable of starting (possibly 8, if you count the ostrich), we’re only going to need 4 for quite a while, Wash is performing way over his head, and he could probably net us some bullpen help, though a hitter might be better. Trade Wash and either keep Vargas or call up RRS to be the 4th starter. Plus, we saw tonight what happens when a pitcher has all the luck go against him instead of for him. If Aardsma can string together a few solid outings and Zack is able to convince some other GM that being an elite closer is his true talent level, I wouldn’t mind seeing him traded as well. There’s always Fields.

I was actually trying to figure out how to put that Cedeno Fantasy bit on here after I saw it.
Priceless.
Hopefulmsfan - July 9, 2009
Apparently Mike Salk has been reading LL.

I suppose.
At least we learned why Salk is apparently so good.
