With all our pitchers tired out from today surely tomorrow we will have to resort to having a position player pitch
Dewey N - August 13, 2009
Ichiro from right field.
kevin_ess - August 13, 2009
I'm glad you clarified
I thought you meant Ichiro from Aberdeen
JonBBT - August 13, 2009
That guy is a dick.
kevin_ess - August 13, 2009
And you're a mean man, Shields. :P
kevin_ess - August 13, 2009
Tomorrow we get to look forward to Olson and Batista.
Woo!
JonBBT - August 13, 2009
Don't forget the ass boil!
I Lick Squirrels - August 13, 2009
Olson and Tits?
I’m so excited I can’t contain myself.
melenious - August 13, 2009
Tomorrow is either going to be a complete bashing, or a very pleasant surprise.
JamMasterJesus - August 13, 2009
I'm rooting for Epic Yankee Cock-Mangling.
kevin_ess - August 13, 2009
That would fall under pleasant surprise.
JamMasterJesus - August 13, 2009
Not for ARod - he has a vagina.
kevin_ess - August 13, 2009
There's nothing wrong with Epic Yankee Vagina-mangling.
JamMasterJesus - August 13, 2009
I saw that on a bumper sticker in South Carolina.
kevin_ess - August 13, 2009
I am so glad I'm not the only one who still HATES him.
melenious - August 13, 2009
You two, and 58% of Mariners fans who vote on post-game polls.
JamMasterJesus - August 13, 2009
I prefer to align myself with callers of Softy Mahler's show.
kevin_ess - August 13, 2009
Let's let Fister have at him.
Sam Regens - August 13, 2009
Rob Johnson. Then he can really call the game.
Coach Owens - August 13, 2009
Now that's funny.
Goose - August 13, 2009
Do you have any idea how long it took me to figure out that was Junior?
:|
OceanBird - August 13, 2009
I thought everybody knew that picture
Jeff Sullivan - August 13, 2009
I was too busy looking at the shadow
I know it, its just, it looks so artsy, and this late after a couple of tylenol PM’s I figured it was an album cover or something…
OceanBird - August 13, 2009
Clearly "too" long.
SethGrandpa - August 13, 2009
I effing love you, old man.
melenious - August 13, 2009
I've never seen a WP chart that looked more like the EKG of a man having an epileptic seizure.
esoteric - August 13, 2009
Had I been hooked up to an EKG when Sweeney kept arriving at the plate in extra innings, you would have been amazed.
kevin_ess - August 13, 2009
Man, that clubhouse charisma better be worth its weight in gold.
esoteric - August 13, 2009
Coach of Biblical and Smiley Inspiration, 2010.
Make it happen.
kevin_ess - August 13, 2009
Hugs Coach?
kevin_ess - August 13, 2009
One great thing about Wak is that he is canny and flexible.
I expect Sweeney to make less appearances or be moved way down in the order (not No. 9 before Ichiro though, hopefully).
With guys like Hargrove, they would be the last guys in the whole fucking world to realize that someone was cooked and done with. And last by a big margin like 3 weeks.
Sam Regens - August 13, 2009
That my friend,
Is what a cocaine heart attack looks like
Trenchtown - August 13, 2009
The wall.
The gold glove center fielders natural enemy.
JamMasterJesus - August 13, 2009
I fail to understand how a classic 70's psychadelic album affects Chris Snelling.
Too loud, broke his ears?
kevin_ess - August 13, 2009
Sound waves at certain frequencies will shatter glass.
Goose - August 13, 2009
Goodbye last year
One more win, we have matched our win totals from last year. Yay. In Wak we trust.
melenious - August 13, 2009
Had a great time at the game.
I am really exhausted, but I am glad I stuck it out to the end.
Fin - August 13, 2009
Imagine how shitty you'd feel if Rob Johnson had airmailed that pickoff throw into left field!
esoteric - August 13, 2009
Is it Adam Moore time yet?
melenious - August 13, 2009
2011?
kevin_ess - August 13, 2009
Maybe Moore will do next year, what Kelley did this year.
C-Nage - August 13, 2009
Scare the shit out of me?
kevin_ess - August 13, 2009
Mess his shoulder up and collapse on the mound?
JamMasterJesus - August 13, 2009
Well he IS a mariners prospect.
Kirk - August 13, 2009 via mobile
Perhaps we need to rethink the "No Calcium" rule with our minor leaguers.
kevin_ess - August 13, 2009
I think that would be a great idea.
Kirk - August 13, 2009
One of the most undercovered and horrific stories in sports.
SethGrandpa - August 13, 2009
Would you elaborate on this?
I am interested to know more.
vj - August 13, 2009
They just need some Malk.
Phil Hatzenbuehler - August 13, 2009
I know...
but GRIFFEY!!!
Fin - August 13, 2009
The Yanks
are pretty banged up today (Jeter fouled one off his foot and left the game early, Posada got hit by an large array of pitches, Melky’s hit like a pitcher since hitting for the cycle) and they’re starting to save Joba Chamberlain’s inning so it appears they’ll start both Sergio Mitre and Chad Gaudin this weekend. looks like the Ms catch them at a good time. as well as you could without Felix going anyway.
Seeing a lot of Jose Molina / Ramrio Pena / Jarry Hariston Jr. / Eric Hinske / Chad Gaudin / Sergio Mitre is usually good news.
RollingWave - August 13, 2009
Honestly, I'd rather face Joba than Mitre or Gaudin.
Teej - August 13, 2009
I love Griffey.
Sam Regens - August 13, 2009
Interesting Chart Line
Total Contribution by Pitcher(s): +114.1%
So it is actually possible to give 110%? I thought that was just a stupid sports cliche. No question about it, I’m just glad those guys went out and played hard, didn’t pay attention to anything said by the media/blogs, and showed a lot of character.
This team has finally learned how to win.
csiems - August 13, 2009
So was Kelley really throwing 95 last night?
Scruffy Lefty - August 13, 2009
So Johnson's snap throw was 26.2% - what were the values of each passed ball, and his DP?
Let’s quantify this sumbitch! Short of a double, HR, steal or Irish jig, we saw pretty much everything Rob could possibly do. Last night’s game should be the baseline for any comparisons you want to do against any M’s catcher…
Spoomeister - August 13, 2009
He nearly had a double..
seattlesundevil - August 13, 2009
OK, looking purely at the defensive side of the equation
The PBs, one WP and one steal by Beckham, the dropped third strike on one hand and the snap throw on the other (FG has it at 25.8%), Johnson nets out at a +8.2%.
marc w - August 13, 2009
His defence was pretty clutch
Graham MacAree - August 13, 2009
Yup. Though the dropped 3rd strike wasn't clutch, he sagely had early PBs and a late-game pick-off.
That’s leadership.
marc w - August 13, 2009
Typically, we refer to that as "sandbagging"
seattlebruin - August 13, 2009
RJ wouldn't be a sandbagger even if he picked up for a little league team..
