Kelley sounded decent in the first inning he pitched.
Unfortunately I was listening on the radio, how did he look?
BrianL - August 20, 2009
Pretty good although his first inning was better than his second
Jeff Sullivan - August 20, 2009
The K to Thames was pretty great. Haven't seen the pitch fx velo, but it was fast.
K to Cabrera was nice too.
Gave up some fairly deepish FBs in the 2nd inning.

Sweet
Robert - August 20, 2009
The caller has no confidence in Wak as an in-game manager.
msb - August 20, 2009
Vinnie agrees he tends to stick with pitchers too long.
Why. Aardsma after that first hitter, should have come out of the game.
msb - August 20, 2009
That's laughable.
Mariner John - August 20, 2009
Yeah, he's a "coach's coach."
Whatever the fuck that means.
Omerta - August 20, 2009
Or did he say that Wak SHOULD be a coach's coach...
…whatever, it’s still fucking stupid.
Omerta - August 20, 2009
I thought he was a player's coach, not a coach's coach.
I liked the fella who thought he needed to play more ‘small ball’
msb - August 20, 2009
I should just turn the radio off immediately following the game
but the idiocy…draws me like a moth to a lightbulb.
Omerta - August 20, 2009
Why do people demand small ball?
Are they under the false impression that bunting and hitting the ball to the right side of the infield creates more runs or do they think that clutch small-ball runs are worth more than moneyball runs? (reaching into the book of Hendu there)
BrianL - August 20, 2009
Vinnie thinks you need three or four John Oleruds in your lineup.
msb - August 20, 2009
I'm pretty sure I don't want four 1Bs in my lineup.
BrianL - August 20, 2009
Well, Cammie, he used to strike out a lot, but because you had John Olerud, and Stan Javier and Edgar to make up for him.
msb - August 20, 2009
I irrationally loved Stan Javier in 2000/2001.
BrianL - August 20, 2009
I don't think it was irrational.
msb - August 20, 2009
Me either.
Sec 108 - August 21, 2009
I'm pretty sure I want 4 1Bs in my lineup if I get someone else to field for them
seattlebruin - August 20, 2009
That would be fantastic and have nothing to do with small ball.
Assuming he meant 2000-vintage Olerud.
Matthew - August 20, 2009
I prefer the 2002 model
Or 1993 Olerud if money in no object
Poochie - August 20, 2009
I swear they only let the worst ones actually call in.
My only problem with him is his penchant to not pinch-hit but that’s really not that big a deal. It seems like too many people have short memories.
Hopefulmsfan - August 20, 2009
Heh
Our offense consisted of four homeruns and a double.
ThundaPC - August 20, 2009
Thank you for nothing!
Please consider this properly-formed sentence a token of my appreciation for your baseball club’s ineptitude!
billyok - August 20, 2009
Be thankful that your team is still in contention despite having the exact same record as our team.
ThundaPC - August 20, 2009
We won once
Jeff Sullivan - August 20, 2009
Maybe if your team got the job done
South-siders wouldn’t have to concern with those pot-smoking hippie Mariners.
Omerta - August 20, 2009
I'm so disappointed that we weren't able to help out a team who has Hawk Harrelson as their broadcaster
gregrabble - August 20, 2009
What the fuck is with all these White Sox fans coming over here?
Goose - August 20, 2009
The lesson, as always, is that fans of other teams should piss off back to their dumpsters.
abender20 - August 20, 2009
If it weren't obvious where they came from
I would guess they were Portlanders based on their level of PA-ness
Matthew - August 20, 2009
hey now
pdb - August 20, 2009
Even Jesus hates Portland. He said something once about getting the Timbers out of his eyes.
Sec 108 - August 21, 2009
and look what happened to him
he’s dead.
pdb - August 21, 2009
Say....
Didn’t the White Sox win a game due to an Aardsma blown save?
ThundaPC - August 20, 2009
sure freakin did
Not that the Mariners deserved to win it based off the gargantuan single run they scored… but fuck the White Sox for ruining the only Mariners game I got to see. God, I fucking hate them.
jameslcrockett - August 20, 2009
Eww, White Sox fans.
Fearless Frog - August 20, 2009
Cunt.
Eyeball Kid - August 20, 2009

abender20 - August 20, 2009
He'll drop about 12 places on the WPA leaderboard for relievers.
I’m really surprised his numbers have stayed so good for so long. I mean the strikeouts are there, but the dude throws almost 90% 94mph fastballs and couldn’t get an off-speed pitch over to save his life. I don’t see how he’s any different than he’s been his whole career, aside from being more lucky, pitching in a big park, and having an amazing outfield defense behind him.
Manzanillos Cup - August 20, 2009
Hall
Does it make sense to anybody that he didn’t get a start at 3rd with a LHP starting instead of Hannahan? I would think Hannahan’s defense would still make him a reasonable starter, but didn’t they get Hall for just this reason, and had him available for today’s game?
jameslcrockett - August 20, 2009
Hall arrived early this morning on a red-eye so Wak wasn't going to start him.
BrianL - August 20, 2009
k
sounds good… i had read all morning that he would be available, but I would have to agree with Wakamatsu on that one. However, I would desire to have some speaks with him about the whole bunting in the first inning with your best right-handed hitter thing.

We got what we wanted
Poochie - August 20, 2009
jeff has been flirting with shannon drayer on twitter
and hyphen18 seems to be a different person to the guy on the mound who delivered the biggest f bomb ever uttered on a baseball broadcast after issuing a walk.
EnglishMariner - August 20, 2009 via mobile
I find their flirts adorable.
