That just warms my heart.
HAHAHAHA!

Great pic.

OK, this pitcher has 26 BB in 28 innings.
Yuni must be confused or something.
I want to FLY like an eagle!
Beautiful beard on that man.
He's trying to gain favor through mimicry!

Also, this game is so dramatic that if I were watching this on TV I would not be able to handle it.

Ichiro is up to .365
Too bad we are out of the hunt

he’d probably get some MVP consideration if we were still in it.

At least Junior isn't washed up
He doesn't have a chance at 98mph heat does he
I distinctly remember him hitting a HR off a Zumaya 102 mph fastball

It was either last year or the year before. Obviously it might as well have been a decade ago with the way he looks now.

Baker had a note today about Yuni's comfort level in KC

we’ll see.

Drayer had a good post too

Featuring Willie Ballgame!

He's going all nutso now

Complaining about pitching changes and the length of the game on FaceBook…

Writers hate games like this
Why's that?
This game has been agonizing to follow.
(1) The lead keeps changing which makes it difficult to write up a game story by deadline

(2) Slow-working pitchers are the worst

*I* hate games like this

But I guess I have the luxury of going outside if I want to…

Don't go outside - it's raining tears of Mariners Win Joy.
I am stunned and amazed by the facebook comments on the Mariner posts.

I don’t know why— you’d think I’d be used to the idiocy by now, but ….

I'd ignore them

But they keep coming into my inbox if I so much as make a peep on there. Need to learn to stop typing….

Wait, Angels lost?
Texas is losing too!
Batista in.

We’re screwed.

Miguel Batista makes me think I can read body language
Breathe. In and out. Breathe.
It's like a bad fever-dream memory of a crappy Helmet song.
I never realized Batista was a Royal once. Not surprising.
Blowers:

“The Mariners have a better bullpen.”

Tampa pulls a Seattle

bases loaded no outs, only need a run to win:

Infield Fly
Pop out
Strike out

Was just going to comment on that
I have never heard of Ramon Ramirez before

but he seems both awful and awfully lucky.

Guy they got for Crisp
Ah

is he any good?

All right but he's gotten worse
Interesting that he's gained 1.1mph since last year
Looked like a good heater
Just saw the same thing on Gamecast.

Ugly stuff, poor TB.

They've been a single away from winning

2 innings in a row.

We feel their pain.
Is Shanky still alive?
My guess is he'll let them tie it up, the inning will last forever,

and then he’ll be in position to pick up a vulture W.

But it already looks like I’m wrong. Fuck me when I predict anything.

Wow Rays

Bases loaded, no out, tie game bottom 10.

Popup, popup, strikeout

Well this is all kinds of late
That Drayer piece is so full of awesomeness.

“Willie then laughed and said, “I don’t think Yuni is used to having any approach.”

If it weren't for the joking part I would love Willie a little
I'm having fun imagining him getting on the starters for their play and effort.
Agh! Chinstrap!
Oakland loads the bases on 1 out

and only gets 1 run, I guess it is comforting to know we aren’t the only team who doesn’t score in those situations. Even if the other team is Oakland.

But they did score
but only once!

Brewers now have the bases loaded and 1 out. I think I’ve been at work too many hours as this should not be at all fascinating.

And they come up empty.
Just using the law of averages, it isn't that hard to believe that this happens all of the time.
I don't get why people found them dangerous this year

I guess it had just become an expectation that their young pitchers would go all Zito Mulder Hudson Haren

Wow, Adrian has gone 0-for-5 tonight.

Oof.

We have a .669 OPS with RISP

Second-worst is KC at .720

That sounds historically bad.

I bet I could figure out how bad with B-ref.

I wonder if I could come to love a Hannahan/Tuiasosopo platoon next year.
I can't see Tui being nearly a good enough hitter to make up for his defense.
I'm starting to think that I will forever be biased against Wilson simply because of his face
He can't help it.
Oddly enough I'm biased IN FAVOR of him because of his face.

He looks like a likable schmoe. His goofy-looking demeanor gives him the aura of an underdog.

Johjima sure is a sneaky cat
Kenji, you DOUCHEKNUCKLE!
Why would someone so slow try to steal something?
All I know is what I see on Gameday...surely Kenji missed a sign or something?
I mean, the pitcher didn't even deliver the ball to the plate -- he just turned around and fired it to second, right?
Could have been a botched hit-and-run

I’m also on Gameday, not sure.

But there wasn't even a pitch...
It was a pre-emptive delayed steal.

The actual pitch was theoretical.

The point is that Kenji was told to steal. That itself is questionable.
Ah.

Yeah, never mind

That wasn't even close to being a ball..
Mark Lowe needs to grow some real mutton chops

Not the weak ass attempt he’s rolling with right now

I remember being disappointed when we couldn't get Gordon.
Remember when people wanted his rookie card?
Alex Gordon has 32 homers in 1099 at bats

He was supposed to do that in one season, not two.

This game is boring.
AND SO SLOW
Eye-gouging slow.
Endless also applies.
Now that's what your heat is SUPPOSED to do
Here comes the inevitable Yuni home run
I wouldn't mind seeing a yunicycle.
I would mind it, but rec'd anyways for yunicycle.
My thought's exactly
Your thought is exactly what?
Each thought of his comes in adverb form
Will something happen here?

C’mon Yuni.

Quiet, you.
Yeah, you're worse than me.
Aww.

Hey, it’d be nice if something interesting happened in this game.

He has a double and a triple already.
Nice linky on USSM to a '08 piece about Sims

herein.

Not that this game isn’t holding my attention.

No, you're completely paying attenzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....
That is some picture
It's got to be hard to get just the right angle on Dave.
He seems nice for someone who grew up rooting for Philly teams.
I didn't realize Sims was 55 years old.

He looks 10 years younger.

It;s Big Bad Yuni! Pitch around him!

He’ll swing. I swear.

HE TOOK TWO CLOSE BALLS!
Kansas City's announcers "really like his approach."
They don't have a choice.
Compared to the rest of their lineup

He is almost patient.

Not that time, Yuni.
Yuni being Yuni. Classic. Nice job. Love it.
Yuni groundout?

I AM STUNNED

I was pretty sure he would go yard on us, actually.
My money was on WFB to do that
Aardsma pants!
We need a big win
I would take a small win though.
Since when did Battle of the Bads get a 4 hour timeslot.
I thought it was the Battle of Grass Creek.
We gonna see it?

I didn't...But now i can't stop looking.
Win or lose, this is the worst game on both sides that I think I've seen this season.
I wonder if the mound is slightly off - there seem to be a lot of pitches flying high tonight
The man who (indirectly) caused Dave Cameron so much misery and suffering at FanGraphs steps to the plate.
HE GOT A HIT!!

DAVE WAS WRONG!!!!! THAT STATHEAD WAS WRROOOOOOONNNGGG!!!!!

What does he mean Jacobs is "finally getting a shot"?
I for one would love to revisit the Jacobs Fangraphs thread
Oh, man, I'd forgotten about that.
How could you PH for a guy like Bloomquist
Rushed that.
If Yuni sends this game into extras I get to be mod for a day
Deal
Boy the mods are going to be sore about this one
Impossible
That's what you said when I told you to come out of the closet but here we are
I really wish the first base umpire would just make a safe sign, even if it's not required on dropped balls.
Sometimes you don't get everything you want from life, yuniform
Haven't seen one of those in a while.
Wait.

Is this game still going on?

Giv'em the Fastball Surprise!
Aardsma having the first name in the Baseball Almanac is a popular factoid apparently
Moderate excitement!
Is Lopie trying to give this gameback?
Oh boy, here we go.

Let’s go Aardvark, one more out.

Loafie's range is back to normal, I see.
Yeah that's two plays he should have made. He runs funny too
I love bad utility players with intimidating stances
Who else would be on this list?
Willie always frightened me.
Miguel Cairo

he always looked like a guy who should hit 40 homers based on his stance.

Fans are actually making noise.
...

I predict 2 consecutive walks

Got to love the silly walks.
That brings up Yuni
END! END!

(either team winning, I don’t care)

Jakubauskas warming up!
Bahaha, that was perfect in the bullpen.
ICHIRO!!!!!!!!!
ICHIRO HOLY CRAP
DOES THAT COUNT AS A DIVE!?
HOLY SHIT ICHIROP
ICHIRO!!!!

I LOVE YOU!

Ichiro hidden catch!
HOLY SHIT WHAT A FUCKING PLAY
HE WAS NOT GONNA LET THAT DROP! HE WAS FULL SPEED BABY!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

ICHIROICHIROICHIROICHIROICHIROICHIROICHIROICHIROICHIROICHIROICHIRO

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!
WEB GEM, DAMMIT
That camera angle was awesome.
WAKE THOSE BBTN GUYS UP!
That was scary.
SINGLE DIGIT GAMES BACK!
I need to go take some fucking heart medication now.
He ran so fucking hard on that...I've never seen him run that fast. He normally strolls over but he was rolling!
Sims sounds like he's ready to go back to the hotel.
Motel....Holiday Inn.
Sims seems like a Holiday Inn guy.
Breakfast buffet!
I your girls starts mouthing off

Then you take her friend

I love that the one time he dives for a catch he's hidden by the tarp
Damn you FSN reminding me of that sounders clusterf--- last weekend
Clusterfart?
yeah, that seems right
I love how he doesn't even look stoked to have caught that.

He just holds it up like he’s challenging someone to deny him.

Ichiro and Khalil Greene should have a stoic-off
Zen, baby.
Is MIchael Saunders like 5 years old?
12.

He is doing a bit better at the game-ending stand-up

I never saw the first one

But good for him.

I think he was intimidated by Angie's cleavage.
Saunders is dropping H-bombs on this family program.
Awww dammit I'm missing it.
