Single up the middle, Jack Wilson held up at third, throw went all the way home so Rob Johnson broke for second
Olivo threw to second, Rob Johnson slid in safe and Jack Wilson came home, Callaspo threw home, Wilson safe, Rob Johnson went to third on the throw from Callaspo to Olivo.
Seems kind of like they could have just held it at home.
Would have kept the whole thing from happening. This is also one of the first things that you are taught as a catcher, don’t throw the ball to second with a runner on third.
Teams have up and down cycles. I remember the Mariners being good, and I can see a point in time when they will be good again. The Royals haven’t been good since when my dad was my age, and there isn’t much hope for the near future, either.
It makes it feel more like those playback games where they cut out all the sniffing, scratching and walking around. Except when Bautista is pitching. Then it is Slooooooooow Mooootiooon
It's lucky that everybody else is hitting or Beltre would be killing us
He looks terrible at the plate, I think he needs some rehab starts in AAA. His bat has been pretty feeble this year in the first place and adding rust to it makes its unpalatable.
Yay Wilson!
Omerta - August 5, 2009
Thats's what I'm talking about
BRKLN M'S - August 5, 2009
The cat looks a bit like Wilson.
Scrappy and fast
Whoopetydoo - August 5, 2009
Scrappy?
Moore is about to offer him a 3yr/12mil dollar deal
IceStormV1 - August 5, 2009
Uggles?
yuniform - August 5, 2009
I don't think this game has been boring
Offense WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
IceStormV1 - August 5, 2009
Whoa
Aaron Campeau - August 5, 2009
Holy crap!
Omerta - August 5, 2009
AHAHAHHAHAAHAHAHHH
That was fun.
ThundaPC - August 5, 2009
Willie will not be a fan of this freeze frame
WCLittleGiant - August 5, 2009
The cat kind of looks like it's bounding like a kangaroo.
Johnson also got a hit past Callaspo.
yuniform - August 5, 2009
Whoa
Slurvey - August 5, 2009
Rob Johnson!
Kermit. - August 5, 2009
Safe!
ignacio - August 5, 2009
Awesome!
SebastianPruiti - August 5, 2009
They thought the game was boring too.
ThundaPC - August 5, 2009
Loved Wak's look right there
Jeff Sullivan - August 5, 2009
That was a great little league play.
yuniform - August 5, 2009
THAT WAS FUCKING AWESOME
gregrabble - August 5, 2009
New Game Thread works its magic!
Eyeball Kid - August 5, 2009
Woohoo little league playt
Whoopetydoo - August 5, 2009
This is easily my favorite game of the year.
Aaron Campeau - August 5, 2009
We just got three extra bases on one throw
Aaron Campeau - August 5, 2009
YES!
It feels so good being on the “HA HA” side of the battle for once!
Yoyogi - August 5, 2009
I got to see the Julio Cruz 'blow the ball foul' trick.
Turns out it doesn’t work.
Whoopetydoo - August 5, 2009
Wasn't Julio Cruz.
yuniform - August 5, 2009
Agreed.
Growing up, I watched the Mariners on the wrong side of games like this far too often.
nickmo - August 5, 2009
Reply fail.
nickmo - August 5, 2009
Wacky.
msb - August 5, 2009
Only the 7th?
Poochie - August 5, 2009
I can't believe I missed the kitty and the bullpen Rockette kicks
royalcurve - August 5, 2009
They never showed the kicks
Jeff Sullivan - August 5, 2009
That's too bad. Those fellas are busy back there.
royalcurve - August 5, 2009
And a foul ball trying to take out Shannon
see?
msb - August 5, 2009
And them lying down in front of the bullpen bench
royalcurve - August 5, 2009
Dear Lord.
We are becoming like the Angels.
ThundaPC - August 5, 2009
When was the last time we scored 20?
BRKLN M'S - August 5, 2009
Ok...
that may have been the funnest play of the season.
PLU Tim - August 5, 2009
Wow so many runs!
Poochie - August 5, 2009
And a cat!
Eyeball Kid - August 5, 2009
So he ran all the way to third on the throw?
That’s what Gamecast says…
Coach Owens - August 5, 2009
Yeah someone who is watching please notify what just happened.
Gameday just says that he ran on the throw.
Kirk - August 5, 2009
Single up the middle, Jack Wilson held up at third, throw went all the way home so Rob Johnson broke for second
Olivo threw to second, Rob Johnson slid in safe and Jack Wilson came home, Callaspo threw home, Wilson safe, Rob Johnson went to third on the throw from Callaspo to Olivo.
gregrabble - August 5, 2009
Not quite
Throw went to the catcher.
Johnson went to second. Catcher threw to second.
Wilson went home Second threw home
Johnson went to third.
yuniform - August 5, 2009
Ah. Thanks.
Coach Owens - August 5, 2009
That's why it was so Little League--the runners kept beating the throws
It’s hard to explain such bad defense.
yuniform - August 5, 2009
Seems kind of like they could have just held it at home.
Would have kept the whole thing from happening. This is also one of the first things that you are taught as a catcher, don’t throw the ball to second with a runner on third.
Kirk - August 5, 2009
And thus our run to first place begins
Sorry guys, anyone who denies that this team is going to win 15 in a row is DUMB…
OceanBird - August 5, 2009
Call me stupid then, please.
Kirk - August 5, 2009
15 in a row wouldn't get us all that much closer
Jeff Sullivan - August 5, 2009
If we did the Angels would win 16. It's foreordained.
Like an extended version of “Anything you can do, I can do better”.
LauraBu - August 5, 2009
I laugh more every time I look at that picture.
Shawk - August 5, 2009
I hope to see "marinerscat" on the WE chart.
Shawk - August 5, 2009
That's naughty
BRKLN M'S - August 5, 2009
I hope Jeff takes this idea and makes an ironic LOLcats joke.
Kirk - August 5, 2009
yes, but the humor is so layered.
Shawk - August 5, 2009
They took a dump on WE charts all last season
Kermit. - August 5, 2009
Did you Laugh out loud at the cat?
Cause I think that gets you banned on this site.
Whoopetydoo - August 5, 2009
The Angels lose! Hooray!
Coach Owens - August 5, 2009
We made up 2 games on first place woohoo
Playoff chances up 2% more yay!
Whoopetydoo - August 5, 2009
PLAYOFFS!
IceStormV1 - August 5, 2009
And we'll only be 6 out in the WC!!
Coach Owens - August 5, 2009
Er, 6.5.
Coach Owens - August 5, 2009
That would be hilarious if we made the play-offs
and Washburn didn’t.
Omerta - August 5, 2009
This game is inspiring me!
I am going to make a music video feating face shots of Ichiro to the tune of “When I see you Smile” and Youtube it!
Yoyogi - August 5, 2009
Enjoy yourself.
royalcurve - August 5, 2009
I've had Barbara Streisand's version of Jingle Bells stuck in my head all day long
Kermit. - August 5, 2009
Thanks, Mary!
royalcurve - August 5, 2009
Where she sings really fast, it's so annoying
Kermit. - August 5, 2009
I hate you.
Omerta - August 5, 2009
Dammit, now that put it back into mine.
msb - August 5, 2009
I hate that song almost as much as the beatles Christmas song.
kevin_ess - August 5, 2009
For some reason I am laughing a lot.
This comment made me happy.
Kirk - August 5, 2009
I'm good.
royalcurve - August 5, 2009
;)
royalcurve - August 5, 2009
Haha.
I got my first RC smiley.
Kirk - August 5, 2009
The cat has distracted Scrappy!
Gogogogo!
Coach Owens - August 5, 2009
I feel like an asshole for not enjoying this as much as I should
Jeff Sullivan - August 5, 2009
I think we're going to win this game
Dewey N - August 5, 2009
"Fellow Aardsma also needs rally fries"?
I think he’d rather have more painkillers, fewer abscesses
yuniform - August 5, 2009
Aardsma might think Rally Fries are a pain in the ... um never mind
Whoopetydoo - August 5, 2009
The abscess is probably from sitting on his butt doing nothing for way way too long.
LauraBu - August 5, 2009
Only 11 - 5? This game sucks.
kevin_ess - August 5, 2009
I'm bored with Royals games
I can’t imagine actually being in Kansas City and exposed to them 162 times a year
Gihyou - August 5, 2009
You do realize you're a Mariners fan?
Fuckmikereilly - August 5, 2009
You do realize that we're not nearly as bad as the Royals.
Kirk - August 5, 2009
And actually have a decent FO.
Coach Owens - August 5, 2009
We have been nearly every year since 2003 until now.
Fuckmikereilly - August 5, 2009
Incompetence goes a long way.
Especially in the FO. When did Bavasi take over? I know it was around 2003.
Kirk - August 5, 2009
After 2003.
It nearly perfectly coincided, but 2004 probably wasn’t his fault.
Fuckmikereilly - August 5, 2009
Thats what I thought.
Kirk - August 5, 2009
I've been a fan since before that
Teams have up and down cycles. I remember the Mariners being good, and I can see a point in time when they will be good again. The Royals haven’t been good since when my dad was my age, and there isn’t much hope for the near future, either.
Gihyou - August 5, 2009
Bryce Harper!
Kirk - August 5, 2009
We suck ... less?
LauraBu - August 5, 2009
That was quick.
ThundaPC - August 5, 2009
Sean White = 1, 2, 3.

BRKLN M'S - August 5, 2009

Yoyogi - August 5, 2009
I've done it

WCLittleGiant - August 5, 2009
Nice
I look forward to you supplanting Angel Hernandez.
Omerta - August 5, 2009
Angel Hernandez. Growl.......
royalcurve - August 5, 2009
I appreciate Wak's pitch fast attitude
It makes it feel more like those playback games where they cut out all the sniffing, scratching and walking around. Except when Bautista is pitching. Then it is Slooooooooow Mooootiooon
Whoopetydoo - August 5, 2009
Jose Lopez...
Guy has some home/road splits that would make Mike Cameron blush…
Home: .577 OPS
Road: .915 OPS
PLU Tim - August 5, 2009
Oh jeez.
If only he didn’t have to hit at home. That would make him seem so much more appealing.
Kirk - August 5, 2009
Safeco really hates loafie
IceStormV1 - August 5, 2009
.685 and .734 for his career
Jeff Sullivan - August 5, 2009
trade trade trade
Poochie - August 5, 2009
How much would this be worth in wins?

Kirk - August 5, 2009
Which seems more normal
PLU Tim - August 5, 2009
.840 Home .688 Road in 2008.
Also .212 BABIP at home and .330 on the road.
Aaron Campeau - August 5, 2009
i don't follow
Poochie - August 5, 2009
BABIP is for 2009
Aaron Campeau - August 5, 2009
Do you think...
they put together those tracer spots because they read LL game threads and felt the need to defend themselves?
PLU Tim - August 5, 2009
Juan Cruz is another one of those guys who looks way older than he is in his picture.
Coach Owens - August 5, 2009
At least Sims keeps finding things to talk about.
Like that guy behind home plate waving.
yuniform - August 5, 2009
What was that noise he made?
Torrid - August 5, 2009
It was a fart
Yoyogi - August 5, 2009
Tiger Woods is in KC?
WCLittleGiant - August 5, 2009
I would it noted that I think Real Salt Lake have a fucking stupid name.
They sound like a pub team.
Eyeball Kid - August 5, 2009
Has Loafie actually had to do any of those tests?
His physical ability tests they speak of on mlb.tv?
WCLittleGiant - August 5, 2009
Yes he did, there are clauses in his contract about weight and general finess.
They suspect he will become a fatty.
BRKLN M'S - August 5, 2009
"General finess" oh boy how silly I am
BRKLN M'S - August 5, 2009
More people should be required to display general finesse.
royalcurve - August 5, 2009
Ichiro leads the league in general finesse
BRKLN M'S - August 5, 2009
For position players anyway.
Moyer has to lead it for pitchers.
Kirk - August 5, 2009
Prince Fielder
WCLittleGiant - August 5, 2009
Too many homers.
Kirk - August 5, 2009
He's just big-boned.
msb - August 5, 2009
I know the clauses are there
but have the M’s actually made him do the 60 yd dash, vertical leap, etc. tests? Or is it just a threat in case he gets fat(ter)?
WCLittleGiant - August 5, 2009
I would assume contractual obligations would be respected
BRKLN M'S - August 5, 2009
Come on, KA!
Coach Owens - August 5, 2009
This game is still going? Christ.
Also, what the fuck happened to Juan Cruz? He use to be the premier K/9 guy in the game.

Hmmm
SwStr% 2008-15.4
SwStr% 2009-9.5

Seems like anathema to him.
Omerta - August 5, 2009

WOO
Aaron Campeau - August 5, 2009

BRKLN M'S - August 5, 2009

Jeff Sullivan - August 5, 2009

Coach Owens - August 5, 2009
BRING BACK WASHBURN!

Whoopetydoo - August 5, 2009
That's bad
Poochie - August 5, 2009
Fleeced
BRKLN M'S - August 5, 2009

WCLittleGiant - August 5, 2009
His parents are really disappointed
Sundevil78 - August 5, 2009
Singled to death.
Fuckmikereilly - August 5, 2009
Chris guys it's 11-5

Jeff Sullivan - August 5, 2009
This morning LaRussa brought in a situational lefty, mid-inning, down nine runs
Poochie - August 5, 2009
How's that work out?
royalcurve - August 5, 2009

I caught the typos from Poochie
royalcurve - August 5, 2009

Oh yeah. The deadpan.... delivery. Right!
royalcurve - August 5, 2009
You can never be too careful
BRKLN M'S - August 5, 2009
Its like WBC.

Kirk - August 5, 2009
I was wondering if Olson could go 2 innings without trouble
ignacio - August 5, 2009
Replace innings with pitches and you're on the right track
WCLittleGiant - August 5, 2009
PW is clutch.
Coach Owens - August 5, 2009
Obligatory
Wilson makes that play.
Eyeball Kid - August 5, 2009

Jeff Sullivan - August 5, 2009
That'll kill his UZR
Poochie - August 5, 2009

Five on the change.
Jeff Sullivan - August 5, 2009
Better than Washburn!
Coach Owens - August 5, 2009

Kirk - August 5, 2009
A nice summation of the game so far
from Shannon
msb - August 5, 2009
The cat was from our bullpen?
WUT?
IceStormV1 - August 5, 2009
The cat was dropped onto the field from the left field bleachers
per mlb.tv
WCLittleGiant - August 5, 2009
KC Star agrees
“when the cat appeared — dropped over the wall, grounds personnel believe, by someone up the left-field line.”
msb - August 5, 2009
Maybe its Lowe's cat and was streaking on the field to protest
Whoopetydoo - August 5, 2009
That would be all kinds of awesome.
Heydude - August 5, 2009
I would like to hear more about the cat for the next few years, please.
JLC - August 5, 2009
Sure!
msb - August 5, 2009

BRKLN M'S - August 5, 2009

BRKLN M'S - August 5, 2009

Sam Regens - August 5, 2009

New RRS commercial?

IceStormV1 - August 5, 2009
So that's why they don't make Bedard commercials.
yuniform - August 5, 2009
Aw man.
royalcurve - August 5, 2009
They don't make Bedard commercials because a Canadian accent isn't shit compared to Australians
WCLittleGiant - August 5, 2009

Poochie - August 5, 2009
LOB IT OVER THE MIDDLE
Jeff Sullivan - August 5, 2009

Poochie - August 5, 2009

Jeff Sullivan - August 5, 2009
I like those odds
Poochie - August 5, 2009
Solo homers are OK.
ignacio - August 5, 2009
Outfielders would probably catch some of them at the fences..
yuniform - August 5, 2009
I forgot about Olivo
2004 Mariner Zombie Nation, this Royals club.
Omerta - August 5, 2009
