Said Geoff Baker on his blog:
We've been at the park for 10 hours and counting now and we aren't going anyplace. When history's on the line, you can count on us to be there.
It's a good thing you can count on them because you sure as hell can't count on us. Life kept me away from the games today, just as it's kept me away from a bunch of games lately and just as it's going to keep me away from much of the next week, but the coolest thing about Ichiro is that, while I missed him breaking Wee Willie Keeler's record today, I'll probably get to watch him break his own record next September. And I think that says just about everything that needs to be said.
Way to go, little dude.

I still can't believe he got 262 hits in a season
that’s a holy fuckton of hits
seattlebruin - September 13, 2009
I hope he breaks Rose's record for total 200-hit seasons
Only 2 more to go! I’d say it’s likely but not a sure thing…hopefully the injuries go away or at least don’t get any worse next season.

“To get to enjoy this with these teammates I have, and especially that guy over there makes me very joyful,” Ichiro said.
Ichiro after Griffey and company shower him with beer. Ichiro! is so awesome.

We've been able to enjoy a few incredible baseball players in Seattle...
…the one who save baseball in Seattle, the one who threw “Mr. Snappy”, the one who has the DH award named after him, that steroid guy who makes more money than God, and the guy known only by his first name. ICHIRO is hands down my favorite Mariner. He is the most awesome baseball player in the game today, tomorrow, and in my future as a fan.

He is absolutely amazing.

There is a chance that no player in the NL will have 200 hits this year
Hanley Ramirez might do it, I guess. If he does that’s 18 200-hit seasons from 2001 through 2009 for the National League. In other words, from 2001 to 2009 Ichiro! has had half as many 200-hit seasons as the 16 team National League.

He is simply amazing.

Ichiro is incredible
I just wish we could win a World Series for him
Yoyogi - September 14, 2009
Not having a World Series does not diminish Ichiro or his career in the slightest.
pdb - September 14, 2009
I completely agree

Even more Ichiro quotes!
“One thing I was preparing for was Junior not to get the 200-hit ball, because he would write silly things on it,‘’ Ichiro said. "And he did write silly things on it.’’
“The day that I’m able to carry him [Griffey] like that is probably the day I become a DH,’’ he quipped.
“Of course,‘’ he said. "Although the beer gets in your eyes, gets in your pores and stings, it makes you feel good. It makes you happy.’’
