Had the M’s not sucked offensively, had they even just been marginally ok offensively, we would have had Felix and Cliff Lee pitching back to back in the playoffs.
Unstoppable with any but the most anemic offense, aka Mariners offense. Frankly, I’d even take the M’s chances with the anemic offense in the playoffs with Felix and Lee. They should have just let the M’s in, in that case, just to show how ridiculous the playoffs are in terms of determining the “best” team ;-)
Because you won’t be so happy in three years when Smoak is an all-star, Leuke is striking out 11k/9 with whoever gives him a chanceand Cliff Lee is a yankee.
The new TV deal doesn’t go into effect to until the current one expires after the 2014 season. The “signing bonus” of say, $80 million, will be delivered before next season. That could go a long way toward signing a pitcher in the Cliff Lee category.
No kidding.
Well played.

This is the worst season ever
Kermit. - October 12, 2010
Please. Screw that guy. He didn't even make the top 2 pitching performances of the post season and he got TWO TRIES!
CapSea - October 12, 2010
But you went to the greatest game of your life this year

The best part was when they lit the moose on fire
tootthekazoo - October 12, 2010
Oh god he sounded awful, the suit all melting to his face
Kermit. - October 13, 2010
I was yelling "get off! get off! don't hurt him!!!"
They didn’t listen to me.
msb - October 12, 2010
What?!
I’d definitely be getting off if I was on Cliff Lee.

This just makes this whole season worse...

Not sure about that
We finished TWENTY-NINE games out of the playoffs. Hard to say that being marginally ok would have made up that much distance.

I wonder which team he likes playing for more

Yay, Byrnes on MLB Tonight.

Well, now I want a Roy Halladay vs Cliff Lee Game 1 World Series.
Shit, and I was hitching my wagon to the Giants.

Lee v Lincecum has a ring to it too

Hope you enjoy this year Texas

Didn't Texas just sign a 3 bazillion dollar TV deal that could very well keep Cliff in Texas?
SgtSasquatch - October 12, 2010
How would that deal keep Cliff in Texas?
Unless he REALLY likes it there, I have trouble seeing him stick around in such a hitter-friendly, oppressively hot pitching environment.
It was pretty clear he was “struggling” (as much as Cliff Lee ever struggles) pitching in that heat. I didn’t think he liked it much.
HititHere - October 13, 2010
I don't think it's effective immediately
