So we may or may not have the complete list of candidates, but I figured I would run this now anyway to see what you people think. I say "you people" to be intentionally demeaning. When you're done voting come sweep my floor.
My gut reaction was "I have no opinion" because I think it's too hard for me to determine who would be the best fit for this club.
But because of that, I chose Bobby Valentine because I sort of feel like if I don’t know what the “right” answer is, I went with the guy who’s personality I like.
Although getting Bobby Valentine would seem like a victory of some sorts with other teams wanting him and his name being well-known. On the other hand, I’m not sure if I would be happy with the pickup. I’m already anticipating that he would do things with the team that annoy me. Any winning the Mariners do would turn into “Bobby Valentine knows how to turn a team into winners!”
The rest of the candidates, aside from Daren Brown, could potentially provide various levels of entertainment. I don’t really have a preference.
I probably should of voted " I have no opinion" Cause I don’t know anything about these guys and their managerial tactics. I figure if the team is going young next year with some of the guys that were in AAA last year then Brown might provide the most comfortable and calm atmosphere for the players, might take some of the pressure off the younger players.
As a rule, Erics tend to help one another out, even when it comes to online polling. I also found myself fascinated with the Cleveland Indians during the middle of last decade. They were a neat up-and-coming ballclub, and I don’t recall Wedge ever doing anything too boneheaded while leading them.
Hurdle?

Kenneth Arthur - October 15, 2010
Whose* you moron.
Kenneth Arthur - October 15, 2010
Bobby V. - if only to not pick some of those other cringe-worthy retread options.
SethGrandpa - October 15, 2010
Somebody else
Because shit, is this really the list?
lemonverbena - October 15, 2010
#*@$ Eric Wedge
That’s why I voted for him.
Charles Gipson - October 15, 2010
Let's get this party started
Janic - October 15, 2010
Cute bees are not allocated any druthers
lemonverbena - October 15, 2010
Is Ted Simmons out now?
He’d be my choice.
Fuckmikereilly - October 15, 2010
I have no opinion.

ThundaPC - October 15, 2010
Has anyone mentioned that Bobby Valentine has won exactly 0 division titles in his 15 years managing?
Fuckmikereilly - October 15, 2010
Are we holding managers responsible for the talent of their team now?
Graham MacAree - October 15, 2010
Did you know that the Mariners have only ever made the playoffs under Lou Pinella?
I think the answer to our management problems are obvious
Graham MacAree - October 15, 2010
Rocking back and forth and crying?
lemonverbena - October 15, 2010
Just because it may or may not be meaningful doesn't mean it isn't interesting
Jeff Sullivan - October 15, 2010
I don't think it is meaningful in the slightest
I just don’t know why he has the reputation he does or why he’s allegedly highly sought after. He went to one World Series.
Fuckmikereilly - October 15, 2010
I think people are more impressed with his managing record in Japan.
joof - October 15, 2010
He has been to a World Series!
Poochie - October 15, 2010
If our players are still bad I don't think it matters who is managing
I hope we get new players.
HititHere - October 15, 2010
It's cool to see that Cecil Cooper comes here to vote.
Kenneth Arthur - October 15, 2010
It took less than an hour for this poll to be rendered moot!
Matthew - October 15, 2010
This was the poll for who should be removed from consideration right?
Janic - October 15, 2010
Valentine is out
per Larry Stone
msb - October 15, 2010
I bet it's gonna be Gibbons.
Eyebrows - October 15, 2010 via mobile
My interest in 2011 just plummeted.
Robert - October 15, 2010
For some reason Wedge has been my expectation
msb - October 15, 2010
Wouldn't Brown make sense since we are gonig to be fielding the AAA team next year anyway?
d0nkey - October 15, 2010
He still hit Lopez 4th.
Scruffy Lefty - October 15, 2010
Morgan Ensberg!
perfectstrat - October 15, 2010
I always held out some hope for Ryne Sandberg.
KC Mariner - October 15, 2010
I actually voted for Brown.
I probably should of voted " I have no opinion" Cause I don’t know anything about these guys and their managerial tactics. MFAN - October 15, 2010
I'm going to wait until they announce the hire before I vote.
I want to win at least one thing before I die.
Kryten - October 15, 2010
I voted for Wedge.

katal - October 15, 2010
Also whenever anyone asks who your favorite Star Wars character is, you can never go wrong by answering "Wedge."
katal - October 15, 2010
And in three plus hours, the entire idea of a poll has been rendered moot
It’s Eric Wedge.
Matthew - October 15, 2010
Even with this news my vote is still relevant.
Sec 108 - October 15, 2010
Surprise!
You’re vote was never actually relevant
Matthew - October 15, 2010
Sure it is. The lacking of an opinion is still current and not out of date.
Sec 108 - October 15, 2010
I voted for someone else.
Jeff Sullivan.
nemo1 - October 15, 2010
I voted for Wedge.
He’s definitely my first choice as our new skipper.
Kryten - October 15, 2010
Who can't get excited about Wedgie?
Fits right in.
Kryten - October 15, 2010
Worst post ever
Jeff Sullivan - October 15, 2010
This site sucks
pdb - October 15, 2010
People are still voting for some reason.
Matthew - October 15, 2010
I DEMAND THAT MY VOICE BE HEARD AND THE INTERNET RESPECT MY OPINION
pdb - October 15, 2010
Shirley you don't mean my post, do you?
Kryten - October 15, 2010
Moot rendering is easy to come by in a down economy
lemonverbena - October 15, 2010
I am angry there was no Morgan Ensberg option in the poll.
