You look at the Phillies' top three, and you're all, wow, these guys are really good. Then you look at the Giants' top three and you're all, wow, these guys are really good too, and so is the fourth guy. Here's to a series without Bronson Arroyo.

Did we ever get an explanation why Sanchez is starting over Cain?
Did they not like his start in game 2?
LonelyintheBleachers - October 17, 2010
Essentially, Cain has a slightly greater flyball tendency that will play better in AT&T and the Phillies lineup is stacked with lefties

athd.net feed is not working.
Damnit.

You don't get Fox?
seattlebruin - October 17, 2010
I'm at work.
Goose - October 17, 2010
Then disregard my links.
LonelyintheBleachers - October 17, 2010
Maybe
this?
LonelyintheBleachers - October 17, 2010
That works. Thank you sir.
Goose - October 17, 2010
I have to stream the Hawks and Sounders, so I have some links.
That is, no problem.

I'm trying to figure out which team has the most black players and I came across a fun tidbit:
MLB considers Lou Piniella “of color.” Does anybody know which team has the most brothers?
LonelyintheBleachers - October 17, 2010
Oh?
Wikipedia, which is obviously infallible, says Piniella is Spanish, but not Hispanic. But Grady Sizemore is also listed as African American. It all gets rather confusing after a certain point.
JY - October 17, 2010
I'm cool with Lou being spanish, but "of color?"
Maybe we should end this now.
LonelyintheBleachers - October 17, 2010
He's a colourful character.
JY - October 17, 2010
rec'd
for being English.
LonelyintheBleachers - October 17, 2010
I'm not, I merely learned how to read/spell there.
JY - October 17, 2010
Where's the double steal?!?
LonelyintheBleachers - October 17, 2010
Only one out. They were waiting for a strikeout.
joey90 - October 17, 2010
A larger strike zone today.
LonelyintheBleachers - October 17, 2010
Sweeney was pissed!
LonelyintheBleachers - October 17, 2010
Gameday says strike.
Goose - October 17, 2010
I don't trust anything a computer says...
LonelyintheBleachers - October 17, 2010
Huh?
It’s not like Gameday is Skynet or anything.
Goose - October 17, 2010
But MLB does watch everything we do.
LonelyintheBleachers - October 17, 2010
Not to worry. They don't have instant replay to cover most of it.
ThundaPC - October 17, 2010
Fail
LonelyintheBleachers - October 17, 2010
My computer is freaking out
LonelyintheBleachers - October 17, 2010
See? Skynet.
JY - October 17, 2010
I'm convinced you got the correct John Connor, he just screwed up his time jump.
LonelyintheBleachers - October 17, 2010
Hmmm....
No, too early.
JY - October 17, 2010
I'd be willing to wager that Sanchez didn't want the 1st inning to go like this.
Mariner John - October 17, 2010
That was not a ball.
Goose - October 17, 2010
Nice job Raul.
Goose - October 17, 2010
What the hell kind of route was that?
Goose - October 17, 2010
He's taking notes from Raul.
LonelyintheBleachers - October 17, 2010
Pat or Raul?
I choose The Bat. Although Raul does have a nice little piece of my heart.
LonelyintheBleachers - October 17, 2010
Werth looks like white trash.
I bet he wears cuttoffs with no front pockets.
LonelyintheBleachers - October 17, 2010
Fontenot is doing his best Conrad impression.
LonelyintheBleachers - October 17, 2010
I already miss the TBS presentation.
I liked having their pitch-FX-like stuff in the bottom right.
Two Rs and Two Ls - October 17, 2010
Waivers!
Goose - October 17, 2010
Oh My God.
LonelyintheBleachers - October 17, 2010
Cody Ross is amazing.
drblacknwhite - October 17, 2010
Cody Fucking Ross.
I love baseball.
Droid Rage - October 17, 2010
I was out walking to get some dinner when it happened.
I saw the score on the restaurant TV and thought, “huh, how’d that happen?”
Cody Fucking Ross. I should have known.
JY - October 17, 2010 via mobile
It's what I love about playoff baseball.
Everyone writes up the obvious story lines ahead of time but SSS of 5 or 7 games make for surprise heroes almost every year.
Droid Rage - October 17, 2010
I did not realize it was a no hitter.
LonelyintheBleachers - October 17, 2010
Don't go down with your second best pitch.
Keep throwing fastballs to Cody Ross.
Droid Rage - October 17, 2010
That was gross Fox. WTF?
Goose - October 17, 2010
I mean jesus christ, did we really need an extreme closeup of Lincecum filing off a blister on his finger?
Goose - October 17, 2010
Did I really just read a sign that said " This Is Phunder"?
What the fuck does that even mean?
Wilder. - October 17, 2010
You mean, what the phuck does that mean, right?
JAH - October 17, 2010
This makes me want to eat pho.
LonelyintheBleachers - October 17, 2010
Presumably,
it’s a portmanteau of “fun” and “thunder”, for the noise they’re making, with a Phillies spin on it ala the Phanatic.
Unless they’ve been drinking beyond reasonable capacities, and then it might be a portmanteau of “Phillies” and “chunder”.
JY - October 17, 2010 via mobile
Willie Mays!
LonelyintheBleachers - October 17, 2010
oh shit, Cody Fucking Ross is up.
JY - October 17, 2010 via mobile
The crowd was scared on that fly ball
LonelyintheBleachers - October 17, 2010
I was hopeful for a second there.
Cody Ross bats right despite throwing left, and so do I, so he makes me feel less useless baseball-wise by association.
JY - October 17, 2010 via mobile
How does this happen?
Also, I love that Timmt bats lefty.
LonelyintheBleachers - October 17, 2010
Or maybe Timmy.
LonelyintheBleachers - October 17, 2010
No idea.
I think it’s because when I started playing pick-up games in the neighborhood, all my friends batted RH
JY - October 17, 2010 via mobile
Spanish broadcast. O.k., sure.
Kermit. - October 17, 2010
Maybe I should just pay the $10 for the playoff broadcast.
Cliff Lee tomorrow night and everything
Kermit. - October 17, 2010
Anyone here have that MLB playoff package?
How’s that working? After hearing all the complaints the last few years regarding MLB internet broadcasts, I’m hesitant to shell out for their product. But those problems may not be an issue any longer.
Kermit. - October 17, 2010
It's bullshit that it's not part of the mlb.tv package.
Goose - October 17, 2010
If you're buying it for the tv coverage be aware that they don't edit the feed.
You get to choose camera angles instead, which can make it difficult to follow if it’s the only way you’re following the game. If it’s for radio, I not familiar with any problems with it.
drblacknwhite - October 17, 2010
Do they have any angles that give a decent angle of the entire infield?
Pitcher/catcher, covering maybe the infield positions? Looks like you can select up to 4 different shots, but if they’re all locked onto small individual parts of the field, that might kind of be difficult to follow the action.
That comment by Goose is exactly why I shy away from their products.
Kermit. - October 17, 2010
To be fair, mlb.tv(sans opening day) was pretty damn good this year. I barely had any problems all season.
But still. its bullshit.
Goose - October 17, 2010
I think there's one from behind home plate that covers the infield.
But I’m not sure as I didn’t get it this year.
drblacknwhite - October 17, 2010
It's $10, suddenly I feel like a cheapskate.
Kermit. - October 17, 2010
Maybe.
Maybe not.
It’s different for each of us.
JY - October 17, 2010
Giants fucked that up.
LonelyintheBleachers - October 17, 2010
Nice piece of baserunning. Weird to see the pitcher running the bases.
Kermit. - October 17, 2010
Hey, there's a local boy.
wazzu93 - October 17, 2010
Balls.
So you’re saying there’s a chance?
LonelyintheBleachers - October 17, 2010
Again a manager has over managed an inning
surely letting a pitcher go a whole innings and maybe get into a groove will have somewhat better results.
aussie_chop - October 17, 2010
Now THAT's how you manage an inning.
I’ve just fallen for Roy Owalt.
truemsfan - October 17, 2010
Ha, all those SF pitching freaks dye their beards.
wazzu93 - October 17, 2010
Sergio Romo's chin is wearing a toupee fitted for a squirrel.
Or so gameday would lead me to believe.
JY - October 17, 2010
This Cody Ross at-bat does not have the thrill of previous Cody Ross at-bats.
JY - October 17, 2010
Woo
