The World Series is only days away, and while I can make some assumptions about the LL community, I always prefer to have facts. What do you say? Are Cliff Lee and possibly Mark Lowe enough to sway you towards the Rangers, or are the Giants just the most adorable little bunch of scrappers you ever did see?

I was tempted to say 'Don't care' because the Yankees are out
But my ties to Vladimir Guerrero (Expos fan) and to a lesser extent Cliff Lee lead me slightly to the Rangers, even though they are in the Mariner’s division.

Grammar fail...
Mariners’ division
Jared Book - October 25, 2010
I can't guarantee I'm gonna get too into watching this series outside of Lee/Lincecm matchups, but fuck the Rangers, so strongly favor the Giants.
BrettJMiller - October 25, 2010
Finally anti-Rangers
I’ve rooted for the little-pitiful-dog Rangers for a long time (excluding Mariner matchups). I’m glad they got to the WS – it’s their time.
That being said, I don’t want anyone else in our division to get any more powerful, and now that the Rangers aren’t the pitiful underdogs, I don’t want them to win it all. I still hate the Angels WAY more, and Oakland will always disgust me (I LOATHE them on a deep personal level).
But Texas has now gone from ‘enemy of my enemy’ status to simply ‘enemy’. I don’t despise them – not in the slightest – but I don’t want them to win.
That being said… I’ll root for Lee and Lowe when they’re on, and if they PERSONALLY get WS rings, I’ll be deliriously happy for them.

I cannot believe there is not an option for "firebomb a hospital if the Giants lose"
seattlebruin - October 25, 2010
You can't?
Jeff Sullivan - October 25, 2010
I guess I could believe it if absolutely necessary
seattlebruin - October 25, 2010
I'd consider that strongly favoring the Giants.
JLProck - October 25, 2010
There is just no way I could ever root for a divisional rival.
Cthaller59 - October 25, 2010
Favoring the Giants
But I can’t stand Brian Wilson
Poochie - October 25, 2010
Brian Wilson is the best.
At least until they win. Then he’ll probably be annoying.
yuniform - October 25, 2010
This is the case if a lot of players, I would imagine.
I thought about naming names but then I realized Fearless Leader did the work for us a while back
JY - October 25, 2010
I already find Wilson annoying
Matthew - October 25, 2010
C'mon!
He was fined for wearing too much awesome on his feet.
JLProck - October 25, 2010
His beard is disgusting
Poochie - October 25, 2010
?
msb - October 25, 2010
Is that the original G.I. Joe?
Omerta - October 25, 2010
Zach Galifinakis action figure.
JY - October 25, 2010
Yeah, but Jeff's post mentions C.J. Wilson and Wilson Valdez, not Brian Wilson.
I also like how he’s got the Beach Boy’s name. His parents must be dumb/not into pop culture.
yuniform - October 25, 2010
Or maybe they really loved Pet Sounds and named him Brian in homage because nobody gives two shits about Dennis
pdb - October 25, 2010
Or because they knew he'd devolve into a deranged lunatic at some point in his life.
ThomasG - October 26, 2010
This poll will help determine who gets shoved into the bio-termination chambers.
JY - October 25, 2010
I'm hoping for a 4-3 Giants series win, in which Cliff Lee wins three games
That would require Giants to clinch it in Game 6, but agree to host a Game 7, which Cliff would start. Both teams would quickly agree to this arrangement because the Giants’ fans would love to support the team, and the Rangers want to extract every bit of usefulness/amazement from Cliffy’s arm before he is free of their clutches.
yuniform - October 25, 2010
Who wins the remaining game for the Rangers?
Or is it Cliff all the way through?
JY - October 25, 2010
Cliff wins games 1, 5, and 7.
I’d like to see as much Cliff as possible without the Giants winning.
I guess I’d be happy with extra-innings games where Feliz blows saves.
yuniform - October 25, 2010
uh
if Cliff wins game 7 the Giants don’t win the series. Your two posts contradict themselves a bit.
pdb - October 25, 2010
Yeah.
I was trying to say that the Giants would win Game 6 to take the series 4-2, then host game 7 for fun.
yuniform - October 25, 2010
Cliff Lee is only pitching in games 1 and 5 (and perhaps in relief in game 7). Ron Washington has been adamant about that.
Cliff Lee isn’t comfortable starting on three days rest. If Washington is smart, he’ll start Derek Holland in game four.
Decatur - October 25, 2010
Since it's Ron Washington, I hope you're ready for the Colby Lewis experience
seattlebruin - October 25, 2010
Um, he's starting games 3 and 7, right?
Decatur - October 25, 2010
Crap
seattlebruin - October 25, 2010
Can not and will not root for a division rival
Go Giants!
BaronVonBullshit - October 25, 2010
I made the mistake of rooting for a divisional rival in '02.
Never again.
Omerta - October 25, 2010
I hope you feel absolutely horrible about rooting for that team
seattlebruin - October 25, 2010
*ugh*
Not that team. Motherfucking buncha motherfucking motherfuckers they are.
Matt Erickson - October 25, 2010
I don't
Poochie - October 25, 2010
I was an Angels fan as a kid
until the Mariners grabbed ahold of me circa ’93.
I doubt anyone here can come up with a good personal reason to root for the Rangers.
Omerta - October 25, 2010
The Giants shot my dog.
thehemogoblin - October 25, 2010
So root for the stadium to explode.
You don’t need to do anything drastic like root for Rangers.
MT Olson - October 26, 2010
I don't understand the divisional rival hate
Two reasons:
1. We don’t really have a history of heartbreak or being narrowly edged out by any of these teams.
2. The Wild Card puts us in direct competition with the entire AL. Every single team is a rival for a playoff spot,
Poochie - October 25, 2010
On point 2, unbalanced schedules still tilts us towards hating our division-mates more than other teams.
yuniform - October 25, 2010
I hate the Angels more than anything else in the world
seattlebruin - October 25, 2010
Imagine how awesome it would be if the Angels moved to Temecula
pdb - October 25, 2010
After debating this long and hard last week, I decided that I hate the Angels more than Temecula
I hate Temecula more than the Steelers and I hate the Steelers more than I hate usc
seattlebruin - October 25, 2010
Fine, so I can now freely hate every team in the AL!
works for me.
pdb - October 25, 2010
Yay!
Poochie - October 25, 2010
Concerning #1, it's not so much about what the Rangers are or have been
but rather what they could become. I don’t want another Angels in this division.
Omerta - October 25, 2010
Half of my Angel hate is related to our history with the team.
The remaining half is Halos Heaven. So as long as LSB remains above terrible, chances are it will never be the same.
CapSea - October 26, 2010
It is too late.
Whether or not they win the World Series has zero bearing on how they perform going forward.
Sec 108 - October 26, 2010
I don't believe that
I think it could stand to make a difference going forward. Not something we can look at and say “X happened so Y will unquestionably happen,” but I do believe it has the probability of influencing positive outcomes for the Rangers franchise were they to win it all.
In any case, I’d rather not find out.
Omerta - October 26, 2010
Did it make the Diamondbacks or Marlins powerhouses?
Sec 108 - October 26, 2010
No
Nothing is guarenteed, of course.
The Rangers already have enough going for them, though…I believe that a World Series victory has franchise transforming potential, and that is more then enough for me to want to root against them.
Omerta - October 26, 2010
I'm going to say strongly favor the Rangers, I can't just really like the Giants beyond Panda and maybe Timmy.
Patrick Stites - October 25, 2010
Way to out yourself.
sanford_and_son - October 25, 2010
I'm an honest man.
Patrick Stites - October 25, 2010
I'm rooting for the Giants, but their winning would feel like stupidity being rewarded.
Apart from the fact that I am still and perhaps always will be tumescent over Cliff Lee’s greatness, I feel somewhat bad about Giants > Rangers since it’s also Sabean > Daniels. And if the universe were a fair, process-based place, Jon Daniels would win rings and Brian Sabean would answer phones in the Giants PR office.
Hoft - October 25, 2010
Rec'd for 'tumescent'
appleshampoo - October 25, 2010
As a fan of the Mariners and Dodgers
whoever wins, I lose!
bluemax - October 25, 2010
Jesus fucking christ, I hope the 80 people who strongly favor Texas winning aren't actual Mariners fans.
You guys bum me out.
sanford_and_son - October 25, 2010
Please don't insinuate about other people's poll choice
Matthew - October 25, 2010
Sorry.
sanford_and_son - October 25, 2010
Exactly. There's no need.
We all know what real fans would do.

10 years!
joey90 - October 25, 2010
I just want a world where Cliff Lee and the Giants succeed together.
MT Olson - October 25, 2010
Next year?
Jesus, would that be a rotation: Lee, Lincecum, Sanchez, Cain, Bumgarner.
Matt Erickson - October 25, 2010
Should have traded for Posey
Poochie - October 25, 2010
I can't imagine two teams I care less about- I dislike them both but neither to the point of hate
I guess I’ll go for the Giants because they’re not in our division, but I really don’t care
Corco - October 25, 2010
I live in the Bay Area
Go Giants, fuck the Rangers.
OceanBird - October 25, 2010
Weakly favor the Giants
Only because I like Cliff Lee. If the Rangers didn’t have Cliff I would strongly favor the Giants
wadswerth - October 25, 2010
Lincecum went to my high school and my college.
Represent the Liberty Patriots, Timmy.
