Lawson was exposed to the Rule 5 Draft, was he not?
It’s surprising to me that he wasn’t selected. He seems to be fairly polished, as Rule 5 candidates go.

He was.
People don’t seem to think much of his ceiling, I gather.

Figured he could cut it as a bench guy
Maybe he isn’t sufficiently versatile.
Jeff Sullivan - December 19, 2010
The versatility isn't so much an issue.
He’s been playing at shortstop more recently and might be able to hack it there. The main problem for him is that for what kind of offensive package he offers, he strikes out an awful lot.
JY - December 21, 2010
Well, the Royals are already set at shortstop...

What's the difference between wOBA+ and wRC+?
Eyeball Kid - December 19, 2010
wRC is a runs created formula based on wOBA inputs.
Matthew - December 19, 2010
Doesn't that make wOBA+ and wRC+ identical though?
seattlebruin - December 22, 2010
I don't know how wRC+ is calculated, but I doubt it
Matthew - December 23, 2010
Now let's do it again!

Classic Z magic.

I feel like Mark Lowe should be mentioned somewhere.
themanleyman - December 19, 2010
He didn't do much in 2010 though.

Lee seems to be leaving places better than he found them lately.
Leaves the M’s with better prospects than they had before, leaves the Rangers with an AL pennant.

Such is the magic of the Cliffmas season
Modrik Zutar - December 20, 2010
look it was a good trade
there a couple of guys who will get some MLB time, and Lee would have been gone anyway. Smoak gets a long look and he may or may not workout. we’ll see about the pitchers, I feel they will show up and be decent
Rickfansince76 - December 20, 2010
