Miguel Olivo. I can't imagine there's any way we don't sign Miguel Olivo.

And hey Olivo owes us some decent years after flopping right out of the shoot in the Garcia trade.

Since we aren’t competing next year anyway without serious divine intervention, moves that stifle upside are bad, within reason anyway.
abender20 - December 9, 2010 reply
also, Moore has shown no development so far, so do you really want to just hand him the job?
It’s not a crippling contract and if Adam Moore suddenly turns into Adam Moore! then $3.75M for a one year of a backup catcher isn’t so awful

Alex Anthopolous is a fucking genius.

and maybe they’ll call up Halman
Totally disappointed that that man won’t be donning a Rainiers uniform next season.

I'd rather have Rob Johnson start next year than sign Olivo as a FA.
EnglishMariner - December 9, 2010
If Rob Johnson were our catcher and OH MY GOODNESS THERE IS NO FLOOR. Where would the ball go?
kentroyals5 - December 9, 2010
The terms really aren't that bad.
And hey Olivo owes us some decent years after flopping right out of the shoot in the Garcia trade.
Mariner Melee - December 9, 2010
Ya no.
Scruffy Lefty - December 9, 2010
I couldn't disagree more.
Eyeball Kid - December 9, 2010
Jose Flores!
Mariner Melee - December 9, 2010
Am I the only one that is somewhat happy with the Olivo signing?
Scruffy Lefty - December 9, 2010
That would not surprise me
Jeff Sullivan - December 9, 2010
Did anyone watch Rob Johnson and Moore hit last year?
Scruffy Lefty - December 9, 2010
And this is coming from someone who want Olivo sacrificed after the first go around with the M's
Scruffy Lefty - December 9, 2010
He costs money we don't have much of, he's not all that good, and he basically dooms Adam Moore.
Since we aren’t competing next year anyway without serious divine intervention, moves that stifle upside are bad, within reason anyway.
abender20 - December 9, 2010
Might not be competing but we still need to be competitive.
Scruffy Lefty - December 9, 2010
Lots of teams look for un-terrible catchers at the break and since the Elias rankings are positional-based, maybe he can be a Type B
also, Moore has shown no development so far, so do you really want to just hand him the job?
It’s not a crippling contract and if Adam Moore suddenly turns into Adam Moore! then $3.75M for a one year of a backup catcher isn’t so awful
seattlebruin - December 9, 2010
I forgot we give up a draft pick for this. I suddenly like this much less.
Mariner Melee - December 9, 2010
Nope, ours is protected
Aaron Campeau - December 9, 2010
I believe if anything, he is a type-B in which case the Rockies would get a compensation pick and we would lose nothing
seattlebruin - December 9, 2010
This is correct, it used to be a 2nd round pick until the most recent CBA changed the rule.
edddgar - December 9, 2010
Toronto actually gets the compensation pick.
Alex Anthopolous is a fucking genius.
harkening - December 9, 2010
I'm okay with it.
But probably just because I have lingering feelings of what he was supposed to be with us.
Mariner Melee - December 9, 2010
I'm fine with it.

I love this comment so much.
royalcurve - December 9, 2010
I will ensure that robert gets Monkeypox if Figgins starts the year at 2nd.
abender20 - December 9, 2010
Is this a good thing or bad thing?
Robert - December 9, 2010
Gutierrez, Olivo, and Cust...we are going to watch a lot of swing and misses next year
Mariner Melee - December 9, 2010
Probably could add Smoak to that as well
Scruffy Lefty - December 9, 2010
And Saunders
and maybe they’ll call up Halman
seattlebruin - December 9, 2010
In the AAA phase of the Rule 5 Draft the Braves selected a LHP by the name of Rowdy Hardy.
Totally disappointed that that man won’t be donning a Rainiers uniform next season.
edddgar - December 9, 2010
What a perfect name for a player on a team in the South
tootthekazoo - December 9, 2010
Rowdy Hardy,
Award winner.
