LL Podcast is pushed back a day due to the long weekend and a serious lack of any baseball news. With that in mind, we open the floor to topic suggestions.

I would enjoy hearing more about the Houston Astros.
Profile a National League team each week (or whenever you do the podcast).
Former Mariners and how they have done since being with the Mariners?
Former first rounders and were they have gone?
Favorite current underdog player?
Most underrated player on the Mariners 25 man roster?
Most/Least favorite annual Spring Training story?
Players tweeting/blogging: do you wish more was players were tweeting/blogging and what would you like them to talk about?
Which would you rather see Ichiro hit .410 for the season or get a hit in 57 straight games?
Or an here is a bit: Hey this guy is still around!?!
I'd like to hear more about what writing is like for you guys
- What is your favorite part of the season/offseason to blog?
- What are your favorite posts to write?
- What is the most challenging thing about writing?
- How long does each post take?
- How often do you get an idea and immediate post about it? vs How often do you get an idea and work on it for a couple days/weeks?
Also, I’d be curious for your guys take on basketball, soccer, or NFL.
btw, I’m glad you guys started podcasting. Thanks.
With all the new offseason moves what do you think that the team chemistry will be like?
How do you feel about the year Jack Wilson will have we only got to see him in like 30 games and his offensive production wasn’t impressive, what kind of line do you see him having? Also who are you looking forward to see in spring training? Do you see the Mariners making any more moves are are they done?
So, we've all seen some projections for 2010 (ZiPS, CAIRO, Bill James, CHONE, etc.) and we've all seen FIP, SIERA, tRA, xFIP
keep looking at forecasts of Cliff Lee which seem much more conservative compared to the AL West projections you’ve done, Matthew. I’m forecasting Lee a lot higher as well, in large part thanks to the park. But there are undoubtedly others where you’d do the opposite, because they play in a bandbox and/or because their defense sucks. Might be interesting to hear which players will over/underperform their park-adjusted projections and why.
Also maybe a discussion of the different metrics, and if you see a lot of value in SIERA compared to tRA. The components may be similar, but there look to be some interesting differences, both in how the measures are computed and what they include/exclude (the issue of how to treat line drives).
Given that he basically has no offers you could maybe nab him for less than $3 million and stick him in the pen if need be when Bedard returns (if he returns at all). I’d love to get your opinion on this because as much as I am not a washburn fan I’d probably feel better about throwing him out there every 5th day instead of Snell or any of the spaghetti.
In the long run, are the Mariners better off today having gone through the Bavasi years?
Bavasi’s incompetence and the allegedly toxic clubhouse resulted in the organizational clean sweep that brought us Jack Z, Wakamatsu, and the rest of the front office. Would Armstrong and Lincoln have so willingly embraced a new direction without the team falling on its face so hard in 2008?
I would enjoy hearing more about the Houston Astros.
Griffin Cooper - February 16, 2010
I would enjoy you actually going team by team in the NL and saying, "Holy shit! He's still around?!?"
You mentioned it jokingly while looking at the ‘stros, but I’d actually enjoy it.
SethGrandpa - February 16, 2010
We now have content for the next 15 weeks
Jeff Sullivan - February 16, 2010
It's genius, isn't it?
SethGrandpa - February 17, 2010
You guys could honestly talk about anything and I'd find it interesting.
Mariner John - February 16, 2010
Would you like to hear us bitch about the line at Voodoo Donuts?
Because guess what we can do for an entire hour!
Matthew - February 16, 2010
Sounds good to me.
Angry rants are usually the best!
Mariner John - February 16, 2010
That would still be less time than we stood in line
Jeff Sullivan - February 16, 2010
I found Voodoo Doughnuts to be tasty but not nearly worth the hype
Robert - February 16, 2010
You should have had seven more of them
Jeff Sullivan - February 16, 2010
Tip for the new Portland resident without an office job at this point:
There is never a line at Voodoo during the week. Even in prime morning donutting hours.
pdb - February 17, 2010
Boy does that ever not apply to holidays!
Jeff Sullivan - February 17, 2010
No one even gets President's Day off
Poochie - February 17, 2010
Well no one in Portland has a job
Jeff Sullivan - February 17, 2010
Many people in Portland had jobs when I was there back in '08
My how things change
Poochie - February 17, 2010
It's the way of the world, man
It’s just the way of the world.
Dewey N - February 17, 2010
I had it off
Robert - February 17, 2010
I found them stale-ish
Mariner John - February 16, 2010
Donuts + five gallon bucket = win
You don’t need Nate Silver or Dusty Baker to tell you this.
thehemogoblin - February 17, 2010
I'd like to hear discussions about which other teams you like and why
also, your favorite Mariner fan stories from over the years. Favorite moments on Lookout Landing.
Might as well get all of this stuff out of the way while there isn’t any real baseball news
seattlebruin - February 16, 2010
This works too.
Just hearing you guys shoot the shit about random baseball topics is amusing enough.
Mariner John - February 16, 2010
I suggest you profile the good NL Central teams
Poochie - February 16, 2010
Cubs?
seattlebruin - February 16, 2010
I don't think they're all that great
Poochie - February 16, 2010
Definitely not.
Jack Moore - February 16, 2010
...
…..
vivaelpujols - February 17, 2010
Sounds like a quick podcast.
Mariner John - February 16, 2010
I think we already covered the best
Jeff Sullivan - February 16, 2010
Nah we already took all the good parts from the Brewers
Robert - February 17, 2010
I miss Bill Hall. >:(
Poochie - February 17, 2010
You should have guests and interview said guests
Poochie - February 16, 2010
How about some talk on Olympic hockey and the Rays cutting payroll in 2011?

mark sobba - February 16, 2010
Actually that second to last one should be:
From a marketing stand point which would be better for ratings/ticket sales, Ichiro hitting .410 for the season or getting 57+ straight hits?
mark sobba - February 16, 2010
57 straight hits would beat the old record by 45
lailaihei - February 16, 2010
Ok that would be amazing.
“57+ game hitting streak” doesn’t sound so crazy now.
mark sobba - February 17, 2010
I'd be interested in seeing Ichiro get 57 straight hits.
And continue that to 57 straight games with a hit.
Kirk - February 17, 2010
... and end the season with a .410 BA
ToddK - February 17, 2010
Which would be easier to do with such an amazing start.

It’s a podcast. We’ll never know if you’re serious or not.
thehemogoblin - February 17, 2010
Have people call in.
You know, like the kind that were convinced in may that the Mariners were going to the world series last year.
It would add a nice twist.
chezbergrur - February 17, 2010
Who lasts longer in Seattle, Jack Zduriencik or Don Wakamatsu? (or are they a package deal)
Also, how do you see Jack Zduriencik leaving the Mariners? (Fired, Resigns, In a casket)
Janic - February 17, 2010
You could do marry/screw/kill with the following groups:
Ken Griffey, Jr, Mike Sweeney, Milton Bradley
Don Wakamatsu, The Moose, Jack Zduriencik
Erik Bedard, Cliff Lee, Felix Hernandez
Mark Lowe, Brandon League, David Aardsma
Graham, Jeff, Matthew

Debate whether signing Washburn is a good idea?
Given that he basically has no offers you could maybe nab him for less than $3 million and stick him in the pen if need be when Bedard returns (if he returns at all). I’d love to get your opinion on this because as much as I am not a washburn fan I’d probably feel better about throwing him out there every 5th day instead of Snell or any of the spaghetti.
littlelinny6 - February 17, 2010
I can answer this one right now
signing Washburn is a bad idea. He’s not going to come for cheap to be a reliever once Bedard comes back
seattlebruin - February 17, 2010
I wondered this outloud to Dave on Twitter yesterday...
Is there any research into whether players tend to over-perform in contract years? Is there any correlation? Or is this just a layman’s antidote.
doublemazaa - February 17, 2010
If memory serves
I believe the research that has been done has shown a very small effect.

Holy crap. Byung-Hyun Kim is still around....and on the Pirates.
I’m pretty sure you could turn that into a whole podcast.
