TV once more. If you got sick of all those damn starters playing last night, this one will feature 100% more Corey Patterson.
By the way, Milton Bradley played a prank on Junior today, but then desert mirages and hoverflies trick people too, so this still isn't compelling evidence that Bradley is human, in any sense of the word.

I hope for the prankster's sake that they produce, because it's not nearly as funny when you suck and the team is losing.
Janic - March 18, 2010
Milton has a pretty engaging sense of humor
Demonstrated several times while in Texas. No clue how things got so deranged in Chicago. For all the volatility, he was OK as a Ranger, even delightful at times (high OBP and OPS+ must surely help). Examples, the running out every five or six Hamilton HR’s in the HR Derby with a towel to wipe Josh off, the tarp sliding stuff at a rain delay at Shea, etc.
He is self centered as hell, but if comfortable with those around him, is both fun to watch and a good teammate.
Ed Coffin - March 18, 2010
It's Chicago and his manager was Lou.
BrianL - March 18, 2010
SO nice to watch baseball on TV.
kevin_ess - March 18, 2010
even if it is the Rockies announcers
FSN showing the Rockies broadcast.
No TV or radio for the regular Mariner broadcasters.
Paul AB - March 18, 2010
I like the occasional outside perspective.
kevin_ess - March 18, 2010
Outside perspective in spring training is horribly boring.
Schuxu - March 18, 2010
But if you switch over to the KIRO audio feed you get Mike Salk and Brock Huard flipping out over the Seahawks.
BrianL - March 18, 2010
But didn't we get our franchise QB?
:(
BrettJMiller - March 18, 2010
Pete Carroll is making me so very sad.
BrianL - March 18, 2010
Good. The longer that goes on
The less opportunity for Brock to make ignorant comments about baseball and its players.
wandergeist - March 18, 2010
Brock's gotten a lot better at Baseball, and doesn't really spout nonsense if he doesn't know the sport.
Salk is great, and I used to think Brock didn’t know anything but football, but he’s really made strides.
BrettJMiller - March 18, 2010
Another umpiring decision.
ThundaPC - March 18, 2010
Man, the M's are getting shit on by the umps this spring.
kevin_ess - March 18, 2010
WOOO Spring training balks!
appleshampoo - March 18, 2010
How was that a balk again?
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
There's this hilarious article that I can't find right now
entitled “What the fuck is a balk?” There was one MLB umpire quoted as saying something like “I have no idea what a balk is, so I just never call them.”
appleshampoo - March 18, 2010
Byrnes is going to tear his face off before spring is over.
BrianL - March 18, 2010
Which would make him easier to look at
wandergeist - March 18, 2010
7 lbs lighter
HawkedUp - March 18, 2010
"Should the NL adopt the DH?"
Representative audience right here.
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
This broadcast has both AL and NL audiences.
Robert - March 18, 2010
Did the Rockies play by play guys just say the Kenji had started his career in the big leagues then went back to Japan?
Janic - March 18, 2010
Ryan Spilborghs, Professional Route-Runner
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
Whoops.
BrianL - March 18, 2010
C'mon hyphen
This is painful to watch
appleshampoo - March 18, 2010
RRS can't be long for this one
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
Stretched out!
More opportunity for bullpen work! Spring training!
appleshampoo - March 18, 2010
I love the asshole yelling "BALK" every time RRS throws to first.
kevin_ess - March 18, 2010
I have this dread right now that the team isn't actually going to perform well this year at all.
Can someone quickly just remind me that Spring Training stats (and especially team records) are useless?
Although it should be noted that the Nationals ave only won, like, two games.
Two Rs and Two Ls - March 18, 2010
I've been having the same feeling.
it is starting to look like we may need a lot more out of our offense.
Boz86 - March 18, 2010
Mike Sweeney came into this game hitting .750.
Spring Training stats are silly.
BrianL - March 18, 2010
See Spring Training 2001.
BrianL - March 18, 2010
LA Angels 3-9, Texas 5-8, Oakland 6-7
Janic - March 18, 2010
At least the Angels are only 3-9 and we're tied with Texas!
Boz86 - March 18, 2010
I'd bet our BABIP against this spring is insane too.
Result of organizational emphasis on pitches pounding the zone and the thin air in AZ maybe? This team will look a lot different in Safeco. I hope. They better. Otherwise all I’ll have is watching the Seahawks FO pull a Bavasi.
moyerLIVES - March 18, 2010
Adam Moore, right there. Adam Fuckin' Moore.
kevin_ess - March 18, 2010
Mark Lowe throws lasers
And by ‘lasers’ I mean really straight fastballs.
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
How was RR-S's last run unearned?
0 outs when the error occurred, the 3rd run would have scored even with a successful DP.
appleshampoo - March 18, 2010
I think the runner checked back to third when Liddi looked him down.
BrianL - March 18, 2010
If this is true, then the gameday box score has it dicked up.
Which is not uncommon during spring training I guess.
So he scored sometime after the 2nd out? I can’t believe I care about this.
appleshampoo - March 18, 2010
I can't believe I'm watching this today
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
Beats work?
BrianL - March 18, 2010
I'm working too
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
I got nothing.
BrianL - March 18, 2010
THIS IS MURDER
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
Mark Lowe does a phenomenal job of shaving his neck hair
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
Well this is a suckfest
Ryan Divish - March 18, 2010
Maybe we'll get a little Carraway!
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
Liddi is a large individual
Ryan Divish - March 18, 2010
Who?
BrianL - March 18, 2010
Andrew Carraway, RHP, out of Virginia.
Crafty.
marc w - March 18, 2010
How bout that.
BrianL - March 18, 2010
Apparently when you get over 60
you have no grasp of the fact that you are making an idiot out of yourself in the stands of a game, by clapping to the music and starting stupid chants.
Ryan Divish - March 18, 2010
You should recognize this phenomenon from Rainiers games.
Or don’t you have any INTEGRITY!
marc w - March 18, 2010
(Anyone who's been to a game at Cheney probably knows Mr. Integrity)
marc w - March 18, 2010
That's not the guy who sits down front and yells at the opposition for 9 innings, is it?
section331 - March 18, 2010
Often yells at the Rainiers, esp. the Rainiers manager, but yeah, that's him.
I guess one of the visiting teams all wrote ‘lighten up’ on a ball (and then all signed it), but he refused to take it.
marc w - March 18, 2010
Huh
The guy I saw was very obviously yelling at the Rivercats, specifically. Maybe there are two. Geez.
section331 - March 18, 2010
Woody Paige is in the press box
He looks really old.
Ryan Divish - March 18, 2010
Can you punch him for me?
I guess that wouldn’t be very sporting…given his oldness. I can’t stand that guy’s columns.
appleshampoo - March 18, 2010
You should find out what he thinks about cyclists
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
No Turkey Unless it's a Club Sandwich
blueside714 - March 18, 2010
Some knowledge from Kanekoa Texeira
I just try let the ball hit the bat and not let the bat hit the ball. That’s my philosophy.
I like ground balls, and I like throwing strikes.
Ryan Divish - March 18, 2010
Does he have the personality to fit into the clubhouse?
Alternate question: is he interesting?
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
Some Tony B goodness about Texeira
For me, the opposite hand split tells you a lot about a guy. If a guy has good enough stuff, he can learn how to get his own hand out. If you have something to get the opposite hand out, especially in a ground ball manner, that’s a gift.
Ryan Divish - March 18, 2010
Starting to think that Tony had a big role in KT's acquisition
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
I hope he regressed the data properly
Graham MacAree - March 18, 2010
Me too. Chris Jakubauskas was death on a stick to MiLB lefties
MLB lefties? Less so.
marc w - March 18, 2010
Speaking of MiLB lefties
Clement homered today
Graham MacAree - March 18, 2010
Here's a few more of his comments
The opposite hand 5 to 1 groundball rate, I don’t know if I’ve ever seen anything like that.
Is he going to have a 5 to 1 again, no that’s an outlier, you probably do regress to the mean. But if you regress to 2 to 1 it’s still pretty good.
Ryan Divish - March 18, 2010
Great stuff, Ryan - thanks.
marc w - March 18, 2010
He's running unsustainably high HR/BIA numbers against lefties too
Neat
Graham MacAree - March 18, 2010
Fourth inning, fourth pitcher
It’s been an hour and a half.
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
Spring training sucks.
BrianL - March 18, 2010
Is Bray anything more than random scrap heap org filler?
shinallsrevenge - March 18, 2010
No
Graham MacAree - March 18, 2010
Org
marc w - March 18, 2010
He's a 29 year old with a high-80s fastball who spent last year in AA
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
Seoul Doosan Bears material, then.
shinallsrevenge - March 18, 2010
What the hell, Mike
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
Well huh.
BrianL - March 18, 2010
There's no stopping him!
Eyeball Kid - March 18, 2010
Let's now watch closely and see if Sweeney's hamstrings fall out and flop around on the field.
Jeff Nye - March 18, 2010
Spring training is so weird
Graham MacAree - March 18, 2010
Has Tui ever been tried out at shortstop?
Boz86 - March 18, 2010
It was his original position
No long-term future there, hasn’t played regularly since ’06 or ’07
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
Came up as a SS I believe.
Eyeball Kid - March 18, 2010
Yes and he's pretty bad at it.
Graham MacAree - March 18, 2010
I wonder how much better he is offensively than Hannahan over the course of a season.
Boz86 - March 18, 2010
As a backup? Maybe five runs.
That’d probably get cancelled out by the fact that Hannahan’s a much much better defender.
Graham MacAree - March 18, 2010
I'd like to see Hannahan at SS a bit more
I think the odds are very, very good that he’s a much better defender, but in a small sample….
The fact that Hannahan’s a lefty is pretty important, though, so I guess Hannahan may have the higher WAR.
marc w - March 18, 2010
Hannahan's a much better defender everywhere else
So hey we’ll roll with it
Graham MacAree - March 18, 2010
Yessir
marc w - March 18, 2010
I think it'd be close. I think he's clearly passed Josh Wilson in total value, which, eh, it's something
and with Hannahan’s injury, it could be pretty important. I’ll admit I’m not looking forward to Tui starting games at SS, but I guess it beats Josh Wilson starting at SS.
marc w - March 18, 2010
A fair amount
Not sufficiently better to take away regular playing time, though.
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
A run!
Eyeball Kid - March 18, 2010
That is some polo shirt, Jack
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
GIF for the non-gameday enabled?
appleshampoo - March 18, 2010
I'm watching on TV, not internet
It’s this in shirt form.
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
I'll put my imagination to work
(that did in fact make me laugh)
appleshampoo - March 18, 2010
Z!
Eyeball Kid - March 18, 2010
That'll go as a double, but that's a fly out
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
Triple even
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
I really want Alex Liddi to be good this year
Graham MacAree - March 18, 2010
Sean White?
Well things are really going to get exciting now
Graham MacAree - March 18, 2010
Sean White kind of fascinates me now
I was doing a long post on him, and then decided against it because I don’t think anybody wants to read about Sean White.
marc w - March 18, 2010
MATT DALEY
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
This might actually be more boring than work.
appleshampoo - March 18, 2010
Good one, Carp.
abender20 - March 18, 2010
Way to go JV team
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
We are getting our bitchtits beaten around so far in spring training
Dewey N - March 18, 2010
Why is this guy wearing a cowboy hat
Dewey N - March 18, 2010
A professional journalist
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
Spring training is an opportunity for announcing crews to try out new gimmicks
Dewey N - March 18, 2010
I've never heard Luke French talk before
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
He is very uninteresting
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
I feel badly for not knowing that was him.
section331 - March 18, 2010
I had no idea who it was either.
kevin_ess - March 18, 2010
Why
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
I have a lot of latent guilt just pent up.
This is as good a reason as any.
section331 - March 18, 2010
Wow - that Griffey bobblehead looks nothing like him.
kevin_ess - March 18, 2010
No way!
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
This would have called for the surprise face
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
You're rusty
Dewey N - March 18, 2010
Is it surprise face or surprised face
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
I think it's "surprise"
Phil Hatzenbuehler - March 18, 2010
I am watching this game
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010

Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
Did they switch to the little league WS?
Schuxu - March 18, 2010
Fourth at bat for Corey Patterson
This game means more than Dina Lohan’s word
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
How much more?
Graham MacAree - March 18, 2010
Who the hell is Travis Denker?

Who the hell is Dina Lohan?
wandergeist - March 18, 2010
Jay Payton's cheeks jiggle when he runs
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
63% vs. 37% on the DH question
Closer than I expected.
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
I don't think any outfielder has made a good play all spring
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
Julio Borbon yesterday?
Eyeball Kid - March 18, 2010
Yeah that's about it
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
Interesting from Wak
High praise for Hannahan even though he hasn’t really played.
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
Who is he referring to
Griffin Cooper - March 18, 2010
Whoops, Josh Wilson
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
That's sort of weak compliment.
abender20 - March 18, 2010
That's what I figured
Griffin Cooper - March 18, 2010
That was worth watching all of
Jeff Sullivan - March 18, 2010
I'm annoyed I missed the first half
Dewey N - March 18, 2010
