Milton Bradley Is Annoyed

Says Evan Grant:

ARLINGTON - Mystery of the night at Rangers Ballpark: Did Milton Bradley offfer a rather impolite one-fingered salute to Rangers' fans? According to internet chatters, Seattle's Bradley didn't flip his lid during the game, but did flip something else.

The moment in question happened in the fourth inning after Chris Davis flied out to left field, where Bradley was playing. Though TV replays showed no incident, broadcast officials did say it appeared Bradley offered the gesture towards the stands. He was booed after the play.

Like Milton, I don't really consider the middle finger a big deal. However, I know a lot of people do, so this is a pretty bad way to not get negative attention.

(Note to fans of other teams that may conveniently choose to drop by: shut up. You didn't "show us." This isn't an incident. It's practically nothing.)

Adda boy.
So Milton is pissed at the Texas fans (or the Rangers?)

I don’t remember him doing anything to A’s fans in Oakland though, even though they boo’d him. He even tipped his cap at Rajai Davis.

This was shortly after making a running catch right up against the foul wall in LF

The area fans, I imagine, were giving him shit, just like they do everywhere.

Everyone gets shit from road fans, most guys just laugh it off.
No one in baseball gets more abusive treatment from road fans than Milton Bradley does.

It’s not even close.

Too bad he can't DH full time.
WHY can't he DH all the time?

Watching him in Oakland for a couple years, and seeing how much healthier he was in Texas when he refused to play the field and DH’d every day, then seeing him suck in Chicago, he definitely plays better when he is rested, and stays healthy when he DH’s. Why wouldn’t the Mariners just DH Bradley and put a Langerhans type player in the OF (if only they had a player like Langerhans around ;)

We have a couple historical artifacts occupying the spot
You mean the undead remnants of Griffey the Kid?
And Sweeney.
This makes me like him even more despite the fact that it shouldn't.
I think we all have some affection for the crazies.

Bradley just follows from Carl Everett, and Rickey Henderson…

Only thing about that is fuck Carl Everett
One of these things is not like the others...
It's all a misunderstanding.

He’s just saluting Stone Cold Steve Austin.

I thought it was Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia
or the Hawaiian good luck sign.
I would probably put this below the level of that one time you could hear RRS yell ^$&@ after he gave up a home run.
I don't speak Australian symbols

Did he yell “Aw shucks”?

http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=6014567

I’d be mad too if I gave up a homerun to Dioner Navarro last year

Honestly I like it.

Milton is fun to watch. While everyone else is just doing their business, Milton throws a little flare. The only issue I have is if it causes him to get fined or suspended.

No, he throws a little flair.

If he threw flare, it would look something like this:

Except maybe without the rock-on hands.

(If I was good at photoshopping/if my computer wouldn’t explode opening the program, I would just put a road flare in MB’s hand.)

Completely unrelated,

But Jesus do I hate it when people hold out their thumb while doing that. Do they realize that hand signal means “I love you” in ASL? Probably not what they were going for there

All those years, I thought you were telling me to rock on. I'm so sorry, I just didn't know.
Well, we all really want Milton to express himself.

What better way than a little flair?

Dear Dan Savage's

Brother,

Shut the fuck up
That picture should be the answer to every idiot who stops by here to chide us on Milton Bradley.

And/or every Cubs fan that stops by.

I know what you mean

but you should totally watch for this Pilton Hadley guy you guys just picked up, I saw him on my fantasy team last year, and he totally has this history of blowing up and-

You know what?

A few years from now, a lot of you guys are going to realize that this was not your proudest moment as a community.

It's tough way to open the season for Bradley,

at ex-team Oakland, then at. ex-team Texas. Both teams intimately know how easy it is to get into Bradley’s head and (presumably) distract his game. It is too bad that your DH spot is already full: not only would it keep MB healthy longer, it would keep him from interacting with the fans, which he seems to insist upon doing.

OH WELL EVERYBODY'S HEARD, ABOUT THE BIRD

Don’t you know
about the bird?
WELLL Milton’s gonna show you all the bird!

Ba ba ba bird bird bird, b-bird’s the word

Bradley has managed to solidly establish himself as one of my five favorite Mariners

While going 1-for-17.

As far as I’m concerned, everyone should be so charismatic.

Ditto, and in a big way.
Milton Bradley is more fun than a game of Pass the Pigs.
Love pass the pigs

Pig Points?

We in Battle School or something now?

Which would be totally awesome, btw.

Rec'd for Ender reference.
Milton Bradley is the player I would want to be, but would be too scared to be.
I think the league needs to make a rule exception for Bradley

He can do whatever he wants, as long as he doesn’t physically assault anyone. This is for the good of the game.

Repost!

(Not shown: Griffey in the background)

Holy shit Bradley has a gun
And Cliff Lee has a grenade
"You want me to stab one of them?"
No that was Jose Guillen,

and he wanted to stab all of them, not one.

According to John McLaren, Jose Guilen is "a man's man" and it was due to his being gone that there were problems in the clubhouse.
"Want me to drag him outta here, kick the shit out of him?"
Proxy for today's game?

Anyone have a proxy server working so we can watch the M’s game today. Stupid ass fox saturday blackouts.

I don’t want to watch the fucking Yankees every saturday afternoon this season

I was hoping someone would show Phillies/Astros

“here will be a strange time warp quality for the Astros and Phillies on Saturday, thanks to nostalgia and the presence of the game’s eldest statesman. Houston will be turning back the clock to 1965 and wearing representative uniforms Saturday, and the opposing starting pitcher, Philadelphia’s Jamie Moyer, happens to be the only active player who was alive at that point. "

I'm pretty infuriated right now

Its not on Extra Innings and of course Fox is showing the Yankees game. How many times have they been on national television in the last week? Its ridiculous.

I’m out of market, but even though Fox isn’t showing the Mariners, will MLB.tv still be blacked out?

And nevermind, can't watch the game.

SO PISSED OFF.

What the hell? Really?

God fucking dammit

Nope... 2,000 miles out of market and no M's game

But I can watch the YANKEES GAME ON FOX! I’m soooo happy!!

Wait no. I'm PISSED.
Hey, look on the bright side, at least we get to miss our shittiest pitcher

Oh wait…

Wyoming is halfway between Seattle and Texas

Why the fuck do I get the Yankees game too!?!??!

FUCK FUCK FUCK

I HATE YOU MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL

GOD HALF THE PEOPLE IN WYOMING AND COLORADO ARE FROM FUCKING TEXAS
Well I'm in the Bay Area

Wouldn’t you expect A’s fans to care more about the Mariners and Rangers? Of course not!

Are you serious?

I’m GA and understandably get NY vs. Tampa. But Wyoming? I freaking HATE FOX Saturday Baseball.

It looks like the closest places to me that get it areTwin Falls Idaho and fucking Wichita Falls Texas

If you’re not in Washington/Oregon/western Idaho or East Texas/non panhandle Oklahoma you don’t get the game.

Okay, got it. I was wondering if they would actually broadcast it to anyone.

How can they pass up broadcasting a Yankee game to everyone?!

Even if I'm in fucking Lubbock I'd apparently rather watch the Yankees than the Rangers

That’s so fucking stupid

Its RIDICULOUS.
And even atdhe.net is no help today
Get used to the Yankees every saturday

Mlb.tv is blacked out for the entire afternoon. So if you want to watch baseball on saturday afternoons get on your knees like the rest of america does for the yankees. Fuck the yankees and fuck bud selig

I want to throw something. I hate the Yankees so fucking much.

No, its not THEIR fault they’re being shown but jeeze how many fucking times are they going to be on national television every week? I can’t stand FOX Saturday Baseball, it always screws over out of market fans.

This is so incredibly ridiculous.

Fucking fuck.

Lookout landing mentioned a working proxy last year

Anyone have one this year?

watching game

but really seattle we need a day off from watching minors playig big league

I like how Oakland and Texas is treating him like shit

Even though Milton was the only one to show up for the A’s in the ALCS and the Rangers are one of the last teams that should be booing anyone, especially a player that was good for them.

Mystery Solved!

Larry LaRue

OK, perhaps you’ve seen the clip on ESPN or another network – you had to look fast – but it appears Seattle outfielder Milton Bradley pointed a middle finger skyward during the Friday night game.

“He was just signaling ‘one more out,’” deadpanned Ken Griffey Jr.
Thats the best thing I've heard all day.
Fantastic.
I wish he'd stop doing stuff like that. It causes a lot of internal conflict.
I think this is what we are really paying Griffey for...

to be Bradley’s PR boy.

And that's why the Kid still gets at bats
Griffey has redeemed himself for at least one more day
Listening to pre-game on Gameday Audio

They said “no word on whether disciplinary action will be taken” for Bradley by MLB.

Here's some more on him from Dallas Morning News website commenter
Evan, I sat in LF last night and the reason why the fans were giving him such a hard time is because the ball girl that was throwing to him to warm up his arm before innings overthrew him before the 1st inning, and he just stood there with his arm extended in the air and watched it fly into CF. The poor girl had to run and get it while he just stood there. We gave her a loud ovation when she did, and he wouldn’t throw with her the entire rest of the game while acting like a pompous you-know-what. So that’s why he took so much heat last night.
Hmm,

I’d think I’ll ignore that and continue to like him, and assume that didn’t happen.

I'm not sure why some people here are so defensive about us former Bradley sufferers.

I’m a Cub fan who was very happy to see him go though when he showed up in Chicago I thought, “I sure hope he can stay cool cause the guy can rake”.

He proved many of us wrong and we don’t in any way wish ill upon Mariner fans. We simply can’t believe that he will EVER turn his shit around. Perhaps this is not an “incident” persay, but it is very much a sample of the type of human being he is.

The dude needs some serious therapy. Plain and simple. I hope fir you all he doesn’t pull the same shit in SEA but in all honesty, I doubt he can change as a person.

What part of "Shut up we don't care" do you not understand
Wow as intelligent and mature as the jerkoff above.

Oh well, I will thoroughly enjoy watching him eat shit all season in rainy Seattle then. You are a real quality crew here.

Right back at ya Hubert. Enjoy the Milty show!

Hey, at least we have a chance at going to a World Series!

Enjoy the next 100 or some years till you win another!

we have 2. how many do you have?
The exact same amount of rings that you have over the course of the last century!
Wow, talk about something we hear all the time and are tired of.

I didn’t come here with ill intent, I followed a link to a Bradley story that happened to be here. Commented in what I believe to be a fair manner and you all react like douchbags. You deserve MB!

Do you really?

Let’s talk at the end of the season. My guess is you will be nowehere close.

You are something like the 850,000th person to come by and say exactly the same thing.

We were nice at first but now it’s fucking annoying.

Nice to know ya!

We don’t give half a shit about your ass opinion of Milton Bradley. Bitch about him on your own blog and leave it there.

My ass opinion?

What about just MY opinion. I try not to let my ass do the talking. Something you may want to try sometime salty.

I understand the frustration guys

but this is not the time or comment on which to lash out against.

Thank you.

Reasonable.

I think he flicked something off of his cap, and it happened to be his middle finger

and he flicked very very slowly

I love it.

We haven’t had near enough spice on this team. Bradley provides. It’s awesome.

At least he has personality

Everett was a drag, Guillen was awesome, but Bradley entertains in the field and every time needs some atitude.

Dear Chicago

Shut the fuck up. Shut the fuck up. Nobody fucking cares.

Dear Jeff.

Grow up.

It works both ways.

The response before to your comment wasn’t needed. Neither is your response here.

Really though?

“Grow up” seems like a reasonable response to “Shut the fuck up Shut the fuck up Nobody fucking cares”. But point taken.

Dear Kinky Reggae

Please consider what we’ve had to put up with over the past several months rather than assuming all comments are made in a vacuum.

Please trust us, we understand.

I truly commented to let you all know you were not alone. We hoped he could change bc the guy can hit. He may change…I can’t say that. I suppose some Chicago posters have come here and made more inappropriate comments but I did not come here with ill intent. Somebody linked your post here.

Unfortunately I have not been witness to whatever you may have experienced over the past few months. Trust me, I am sure you all have plenty to say about Carlos Silva. This trade had no true upside that was apparent. Best case scenario…Bradley shuts up and Silva pitches.

Most everyone who comment on this blog (not to mention all his current M's teammates) love Milton Bradley.

Almost all the fans of Bradley’s former teams who leave comments about him on LL have told us that we should give up on Bradley NOW – nevermind that there’s a full baseball season left to play. Don’t you see why that offends us and makes us circle the wagons?

Also, anyone on Lookout Landing who going to Bleed Cubbie Blue and says that Silva is a hopeless mess (or the like) will get one warning before being banned from LL for trolling other blogs.

from what I read I cant see anywhere where kinky reggae was trolling here.
I didn't meant to say that he intended to troll when he came here. I was responding to "I am sure you all have plenty to say about Carolos Silva."
That post is hard to understand but...

all I can say is I do not believe I was trolling. I was curious, that’s all. Of course I understand why you are all somewhat defensive about MB. We were too, hoping that things would turn around too. They could still. It’s only 7 games in.

I’m not saying give up. I have no intention of telling you all what to do with MB. I also wasn’t suggesting that you all want to bash Silva though all I have heard is how much of a bust he is/will be from most Mariner fans…not necessarily here.

Point is this, chill out, I am not here for anything but the read and unfortunately attempted to offer some friendly insight. My mistake.

My money is on Bradley

being both (a) the better player by far and (b) the crazier player by far. Can’t see much upside on the Cubs side of that deal, but on the other hand, probably no arrests either.

(Note to fans of other teams that may conveniently choose to drop by: shut up. You didn’t “show us.” This isn’t an incident. It’s practically nothing.)

Aw, Jeff … are we all that terrible?

Respectfully, I think it is a big deal when a player gives fans the finger. I remember in mid-2007, when Cliff Lee was really struggling, and he had to walk back to the dugout in the face of a few thousand jeering fans. He tipped his cap to the hometown fans in what generally was seen as a sarcastic gesture, and people just blew up about it. In retrospect, it could just as well have been interpreted as a gesture of “Yeah, I know, deserve your booing.” Reading Cliff’s comments a year or two afterwards, that does seem to be what was going through his mind, but that’s not how it was seen at the time.

Anyway, my point is just that if a tip of the cap can be seen as sarcastic and offensive, then what the heck is this?

An immature yet insignificant decision

This is literally only news because it’s Milton.

Seriously?

You don’t think ANY player would make news for giving fans the finger?

I sure do. If anything, I think it’s less newsworthy because it’s Milton.

anyway

it’s not my intention to antagonize one of my favorite bloggers, so that’ll be all from me.

They were talking about this for a whole five-minute segment on some ESPN show two days after it happened

That doesn’t happen were it pretty much anyone else. The finger will always raise an eyebrow, but it tends to be forgotten as quickly as it occurred.

another guy

You might find this interesting … Jay Bruce gives the finger times two …

http://cincinnati.com/blogs/reds/2010/04/13/bruce-apologizes-for-gesture/

This was “a story” — reported in the media — but a Google News search reveals that there was less coverage for this than for Bruce’s recent slump, or his recently overturned home run.

One could argue that it’s different in that Bruce seems to be playfully giving the finger to one of his teammates, perhaps answering an earlier taunt, rather than angrily addressing it to fans. Then again, one could argue that’s just a matter of interpretation — clearly Bradley couldn’t get away with a “playful” flip of the bird.

Not sure what this shows, one way or the other, but it’s an interesting data point for comparison.

Maybe fans and the press should chill out and not expect every player to be Mahatma fucking Ghandi.
