Wak said on KJR that Ian Snell has left the team with family issues
There's no further information at this point. We don't know why, we don't know for how long and we have no idea if any moves will need to be made, if this has anything to do with anything or if there will be any repercussions.
Since there is no other information, seriously! none! Stop asking! you'll know when we do, feel free to use this thread for pointless speculation. Personally, I believe pirates are involved somehow. No, not the Pittsburgh Pirates. Actual pirates.

Maybe the Rangers smacked his family around too?
abender20 - April 12, 2010
That's kind of a duchscherer thing to say.
Fin - April 12, 2010
I'm pretty sure of my dukes.
abender20 - April 12, 2010
You're going to feel like a total ass when you find out that his family recently went on vacation to Somalia
seattlebruin - April 12, 2010
Actually, I would feel pretty vindicated in my belief
Matthew - April 12, 2010
I never said you wouldn't be vindicated as well
seattlebruin - April 12, 2010
Personally I think he will feel vindication.
EnglishMariner - April 12, 2010
Or if they went on a vacation with any surviving family member of Jose Lopez.
kentroyals5 - April 12, 2010
Only the siblings die =(
seattlebruin - April 12, 2010
Is Jose the only one left?
kentroyals5 - April 12, 2010
There can be only one.
Janic - April 12, 2010
Aw fuck, there's five of them left

seattlebruin - April 12, 2010
Maybe we can suggest an annual Lopez sibling ashes giveaway to the first 20,000 fans.
CapSea - April 12, 2010
Not funny
That’s really messed up.
katherinekiyoko - April 13, 2010
Maybe his siblings should stop dying then.
Sec 108 - April 14, 2010
I never knew he was related to the President of Poland...
…and the top military brass
theboyirish - April 12, 2010
He doesn't look Polish to you?
He had to change his name from “Snellwczinki”
Lucas Cervi - April 12, 2010
So I wonder which journalist will be first to fire up the "Washburn to Seattle...?!?!" speculation again
ManifestDestiny - April 12, 2010
The only question would be if Larry Larue could get to a typewriter fast enough to beat Geoff Baker.
Nobody else cares.
Matthew - April 12, 2010
A typewriter!
Zing!
PissedMick - April 12, 2010
Per Divish Twitter
Wak also said on KJR that he didn’t think Snell would miss his next start.
ManifestDestiny - April 12, 2010

BrianL - April 12, 2010
Awww, but we can still panic, right?
marc w - April 12, 2010
Those are some really shitty pirates if he's gonna make it back in five days
seattlebruin - April 12, 2010
Even if he won’t miss a start, can we put him on 3 day bereavement leave and bring Langerhans back for a few days?
doublemazaa - April 12, 2010
Subject line please!
seattlebruin - April 12, 2010
Langerhans is only coming back if no one claims him in the 10 day period and he accepts his assignment to AAA.
Janic - April 12, 2010
Apologies about neglecting a subject line...
OK, even if Langerhans isn’t coming back for the moment, maybe someone else? Seems like an opportunity to put a position player onto the roster for a few days without losing a pitcher seems like a plus.
doublemazaa - April 12, 2010
I don't know that there's any position player on the 40-man roster worth calling up if he were to go on the bereavement list.
Your outfielders: Carrera, Saunders, Halman.
Infielders: Ackley, Carp.
Janic - April 12, 2010
I wonder how many people you could have gotten with a headline of "Ian Snell is no longer with the team" after his poor start.
Janic - April 12, 2010
That was my first though...
I saw it and kind of scratched my head thinking, “We aren’t even 10 games into the season and don’t have our full rotation back yet. What gives?”
Jamkel - April 12, 2010
Son of a bitch.
SeaKoala - April 12, 2010
Jeff,
Do you think it was Somali Pirates or Blackbeard kind of Pirates?
InSpokane - April 12, 2010
Shit, Sorry Mathew. I would've guessed you'd make a Pirate joke.
InSpokane - April 12, 2010
Not to pick on you specifically, but why don't people look at the byline?
I see the byline before I read the title because the particular author will color how I interpret the title and from then out.
abender20 - April 12, 2010
I rarely look at the byline. I and normally tell who wrote what by what is said.
InSpokane - April 12, 2010
So, you're saying that this guy was involved?
Bearskin Rugburn - April 12, 2010
He said pirate.
Not a guy that looks freakishly similar to a certain Griffey bobblehead.
the other side - April 12, 2010
Although he does have the pirate thing going to.
the other side - April 12, 2010
At least now we know why he pitched so poorly yesterday!
katal - April 12, 2010
Maybe it played into his performance?
What, 3 innings, 5 ERs? I didn’t get to watch the game, but no one pitches like that for a major league team and ISN’T having a off day. Maybe it was the thing where something was going on at home and he thought he could handle it then went out and bombed the game and either he or management (my vote would normally be on management, but given how bad his performance was, I’m inclined to believe equal participation), that until the issue was resolved, or he could get his head straight while dealing with the issue that he needed some time off.
Regardless, I hope that he and his family are alright, and that when he comes back he absolutely destroys whomever we might happen to be playing.
Jamkel - April 12, 2010
Ummmm, to say that someone is taking an off day just because they didn't do well is not a very good conclusion to make.
Mariner John - April 12, 2010
3IP/5ER is the baseline for some, sadly
Jeff Weaver says hi
seattlecougar - April 13, 2010
Shannon Drayer said it was a death in the family
and Snell knew about it before the start. My prayers go out to his family.
Coug1990 - April 12, 2010
Dammit, Robert
Wrong one!
Matthew - April 12, 2010
It took me a long time to figure that out.
Very funny.
SeaKoala - April 12, 2010
I do not understand.
Robert - April 12, 2010
He is referring to Jose Lopez.
His family dies a lot.
Kirk - April 13, 2010
As sad as this is, it does make me more confident that yesterday was just a fluke.
eflegen - April 12, 2010
I guess this is why he pitch so badly.
EequalsMc2 - April 12, 2010
If you guys keep making smartass comments about him
he’ll come here and post a Fanpost like Morrow did.
craig3410 - April 12, 2010
Morrow did?
I’m kind of new, but he did? Link please, because that’s freaking awesome.
SeaKoala - April 12, 2010
It was fake but...
Here it is. Pretty hilarious comment thread ensues.
Jackle Mackle - April 12, 2010
Cool, thanks.
