(Because my last post like this worked out so well)
The Seattle Mariners, after everything they've been through, are 11-11. They're one game back of Oakland for the division. The entire spread in the AL West is only 1.5.
The next Mariners game is at home, and will be started by Cliff Lee.
The following Mariners game is at home, and will be started by Felix Hernandez.
I don't know if you're one of those people that needs some time to get back into the swing of the baseball season, but if you've been taking it lightly so far, it's time to start paying attention. Cliff Lee, King Felix, and a division rival. This weekend, our 2010 season begins in earnest.

For those who may have missed the Jack Wilson play from earlier, I'm attaching the .gif after the jump.

Hahaha I just noticed Alex Gordon diving for 2nd base.
Slurvey - April 28, 2010
Break up that play, dammit!
tootthekazoo - April 28, 2010
HE'S TWO SECONDS OUT!
kentroyals5 - April 28, 2010
Hustle swag
BRKLN M'S - April 28, 2010
I thought it was Willie for a minute
killer_ewok18 - April 29, 2010
I could watch this play all day.
Damn.
katal - April 28, 2010
No shit.
I didn’t see this at all until now. When Jeter does this play it’s a ball hit 4 feet to his right…this was like 10 feet!
kentroyals5 - April 28, 2010
I told myself when the season started that if we were within a game or two of .500 and within five games of the division lead I'd be happy.
Yeah, there have been some really annoying losses over the first few weeks of the season but we’re still in it and we’re getting Cliff Lee back. I’m excited.
BrianL - April 28, 2010
I's going to both games!
bmxnw - April 28, 2010
Oops, I'm*
bmxnw - April 28, 2010
Get your grammar right
I is going to both games. Duh.
pdb - April 28, 2010
Haha...
M and S aren’t even next to each other on the keyboard….Are you from Idaho?
Benny Boy - April 28, 2010
No, I am in WA
I am just a notoriously bad typer.
bmxnw - April 28, 2010
How is Western Australia these days?
ToddK - April 29, 2010
Wow. Just.....ridiculous.
Oh by the way, I finally saw the Mariners bullpen commercial with the painting. I was laughing my ass off. Instant classic. Wish I got those commercials (and games!) down here in S.D.
Benny Boy - April 28, 2010
They're all on the M's official site. The Ichiro/Jr. commercial is amusing as well.
Link.
Kermit. - April 28, 2010
Thank you
Fearless Frog - April 28, 2010
No problem. Here's all of them.
There have been some pretty good ones over the years. Lou the Therapist and Road Trip are definitely worth a look, among many others. Link.
Kermit. - April 28, 2010
You are such a sweetheart!
melenious - April 28, 2010
...
Decatur - April 28, 2010
Well, Kermit IS a sweetheart!
Eyebrows - April 29, 2010
Not really. Sexy, sure. But in person he is a smirking jackass.
Sec 108 - April 29, 2010
Clooney does well with that
Bearskin Rugburn - April 29, 2010
Doh, I'm going to the game on Sunday (my first Safeco game ever, not sure why it has taken me this long).
I guess I’m watching one of Ian Snell, Fister, or Vargas?
Fear - April 28, 2010
Fister
According to the radio post-game today.
Fez - April 28, 2010
Yup.
I was hoping to finally get Felix, but nope.
Fister vs @str8edgeracer
msb - April 29, 2010
It has been an exhausting first month, that is for sure
Cliff Lee and Felix against the Rangers makes me so freaking pumped.
E-Lizz - April 28, 2010
It's like Christmas all over again!
Allen Wu - April 28, 2010
What is that throw, 120 feet? 140 feet?
And Kendall isn’t exactly slow, although he isn’t what he used to be.
Amazing play.
Wilder. - April 28, 2010
Unreal throw, and did Kotchman camouflage the play by stretching at the very last moment?
Or am I just a slobbering fanboy for Kotch’s defense. Both maybe.
lemonverbena - April 28, 2010
I wonder if Kendall might have thought the throw was going to go to 2B maybe
Although it looks like he’s trying to hoof out the throw.
Edgar for Pres - April 28, 2010
Yeah, Kendall's running hard out of the box.
Simply incredible.
Wilder. - April 28, 2010
While gif. requests are being taken...
Every one of Bradley’s little moments, please.
hedden - April 28, 2010
I think by the end of the season there'll be an awesome playlist of Bradley moments
Allen Wu - April 28, 2010
Here is Bradley mocking the fans and giving his post game interview the other day:
Wilder. - April 28, 2010
Wait, Milton Bradley is black!?
harkening - April 28, 2010
Ya in fact we have like three of them.
It’s getting fucking ridiculous honestly.
the other side - April 29, 2010
Whatever happened to a good old-fashioned gentlemen's agreement?
Is there no honor!?
harkening - April 29, 2010
Come on, now.
This isn’t Toronto.
Llewdor - April 29, 2010
Opening Day wooooo!
Goose - April 28, 2010
Let the 140-game season begin.
ThundaPC - April 29, 2010
That may be the best play I have ever seen a Mariners SS make.q
Granted, I have only been able to watch the team since 2007, but that jump throw was incredible.
EnglishMariner - April 29, 2010
Somewhere Omar Vizquel is crying
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbqRP6yRxiI
johnbai - April 29, 2010
And a couple other highlights
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFXVsuiYyGk&NR=1
Sadly, there’s nothing on YouTube of his Mariner days. >:(
johnbai - April 29, 2010
You'd think the last out of Bosio's no hitter would be there somewhere.
Two Rs and Two Ls - April 29, 2010
The second play he made in the video you linked to was when he was on the Mariners.
Coach Owens - April 29, 2010
FUCK ME.
That is INCREDIBLE.
HOLY SHIT!
EnglishMariner - April 29, 2010
I'm not watching a highlight reel of his Indian days.
That just makes me sad.
Sec 108 - April 29, 2010
Wow.
I mean, why waste time with the glove, am I right?
JLProck - April 29, 2010
Huh
I was expecting one of those plays to be better than Wilson’s but none of them were. What’s up with that?
Graham MacAree - April 29, 2010
Perhaps Vizquel is crying because he isn't nearly as amazing.
JY - April 29, 2010
I agree. I don't get all the fuss with diving plays.
Sure, the odds of you making that play are lower, but you brought it upon yourself. Range > fancy diving plays.
Allen Wu - April 29, 2010
Or fall on your ass plays because you backpedal like a damned little leaguer.
They showed the replay of Willie Baseball doing that THREE TIMES on the condensed game. It took up about forty seconds of the condensed game’s time. Seriously. In baseball, if you do a backwards somersault, you’re doing something WRONG.
Decatur - April 29, 2010
Yeah, Vizquel sure didn't have much range.
Mariner John - April 29, 2010
Jeter with range!
I think science disagrees with the fact that this play can happen.
Bballpitcher2 - April 29, 2010
If you take all the other shortstops in MLB
and plug them into that play for Wilson, do any of them make it? Criteria:
Have to make it to the ball
Have to jump and turn in the air
Have to have the arm strength and accuracy
PackBob - April 29, 2010
Everett, Andrus,
thinking about it on Tulo.
marc w - April 29, 2010
Thanks for the .gif
I missed the game due to this thing called “employment” and fell asleep before the replay last night. Two words concerning that play: fucking sick.
RustyJohn - April 29, 2010
He may not have a pretty face but man that is a beautiful play.
Thanks for posting the gif!
Sam Regens - April 29, 2010
He is to the infield, what Guti is to the outfield.
TrustBaseball - April 29, 2010
Defensively, not visually.
Eyeball Kid - April 29, 2010
Jack makes this play in his sleep
Not even exaggerating, I was not all that impressed by this play. I have been spoiled by Jack’s defense for many years. This play will struggle to crack his personal top 5 list of 2010.
A sample of his 2009 Pittsburgh D.
MBandi - April 29, 2010
Wilson's expression after pulling off #1 just slays me
