as a pitcher. In retrospect, maybe due from his interviews alone, I should have voted “Love.” Hopefully he’ll stay healthy, and I’ll “love” him as a pitcher as well.
I put down no strong opinion, but it’s more that I’m torn. He seems like an ok guy, and the injuries and trade aren’t his fault. But I dislike that baggage, which taints how I emotionally react to him.
So it’s not that I have no strong feelings, it’s just that I’m torn between both sides. Give me a half season more of pitching this year, and I’ll probably be swayed in one direction or the other.
It seems like a lot of people want to blame him for the injuries
or that he didn’t try hard enough to come back.
How many millions of dollars has he lost because of injury? It makes no sense. He’s “bad” with the media? Well if he never got hurt and showed two years of Cy Young caliber pitching like hes capable of… nobody would give a damn.
Although he’s been putting up with nothing but injuries since arriving in Seattle he’s shown to be a talented arm with an entertaining personality. I can’t help but root for him.
This needs to be two polls.
I don’t Like Erik Bedard but i love his curveball.
wetzelcoal - April 30, 2010
Legit gripe.
That curve is a thing of beauty.
Fearless Frog - April 30, 2010
I like Erik for now...
as a pitcher. In retrospect, maybe due from his interviews alone, I should have voted “Love.” Hopefully he’ll stay healthy, and I’ll “love” him as a pitcher as well.
MissoulaMarinerFan - April 30, 2010
Someone hates him :(
royalcurve - April 30, 2010
Someone needs to be smacked up, it seems.
JY - April 30, 2010
Someones now.
JY - April 30, 2010
I guess I oughta be used to this.
royalcurve - April 30, 2010
"...vote based on your own personal opinion, using whatever criteria you like."
Maybe someone just hates Canadians or something, and used that as their personal criteria?
Limerickx - April 30, 2010
Nobody can hate Canadians
I hate 99% of the countries on this planet but even I like the Canadians
Corco - April 30, 2010
What?
Tons of people hate Canada.
Fearless Frog - April 30, 2010
I hate Canada.
InSpokane - April 30, 2010
No no, that's not right. I hate a lot of things about Canadians, but overall I find the place kind of funny and nice.
InSpokane - April 30, 2010
So you like 2 countries: would that be America and Canada?
Decatur - April 30, 2010
Yep
Corco - April 30, 2010
What does it say about me
That I like him mostly because everyone else seems to hate him?
Sportszilla - April 30, 2010
It says that you're white
Jeff Sullivan - April 30, 2010
I feel this way, too
The more times I hear some media guy tell me that Bedard is fragile and blah blah, I like him a little more.
Gihyou - April 30, 2010
It's the Milton Bradley effect.
I don’t think I’d love him as much if he wasn’t hated
royalcurve - April 30, 2010
I love Bedard, but hate how he became a Mariner.
InSpokane - April 30, 2010
FA signing?
Bearskin Rugburn - April 30, 2010
No, the first time.
InSpokane - April 30, 2010
It sucks but one could argue its the reason we have this team
Gutierrez!
OceanBird - April 30, 2010
In a very round about way, yes. But not really.
InSpokane - April 30, 2010
Erik Bedard is one of my three favorite Mariners.
JonBBT - April 30, 2010
I don't know that if I would love Erik Bedard as much if people didn't hate on him.
Janic - April 30, 2010
I love expressing myself on a scale of 1-5
Bearskin Rugburn - April 30, 2010
I'd probably be at 'like' but the way he handles the media pushed it up to 'love'.
Eyeball Kid - April 30, 2010
The "four questions" interview was what made me love him.
Jed MC - April 30, 2010
My brain tells me I should like Erik Bedard more than I do.
Floyd Gondoli - April 30, 2010
I want to hear Erik Bedard speaking French.
Does video exist?
Manzanillos Cup - April 30, 2010
That other Canadian who we don't like as much might.
Janic - April 30, 2010
Yes.
A little disappointing, personally. Sounds like an American speaking French
royalcurve - April 30, 2010
Quebecois french is kind of hilarious
Bearskin Rugburn - April 30, 2010
Most people think the French speak in a snooty tone
And then there’s Quebec, adding a super nasally sound to the already snobbish-sounding language.
I love it. Bless them all. Including Erik.

I wish there were an ambivalent option...
I put down no strong opinion, but it’s more that I’m torn. He seems like an ok guy, and the injuries and trade aren’t his fault. But I dislike that baggage, which taints how I emotionally react to him.

I like him so much more now than I did the last time he pitched.
A #3 starter w/ an incentive based contract = love for that hoser Bedard!
Rich Langford - April 30, 2010
I love Erik Bedard
Although he’s been putting up with nothing but injuries since arriving in Seattle he’s shown to be a talented arm with an entertaining personality. I can’t help but root for him.
ThundaPC - April 30, 2010
I call him Mon Amour, I guess you can tell how I feel about Bedard.
