But he’s not going to play enough for me to feel that strongly about him either way. Still voted “like”, because he’s a crazy son of a bitch, and that’s cool. I wish he played the outfield against lefties though.
And then hit a bunch. Then I might just love the man.
He’s like a frenzied golden retriever puppy with all four paws scrambling in different directions…after he’s just pulled his snout out of a hornet’s nest.
He’s the reason Langersex is in Tacoma and went through waivers. No matter how much he hustles, Byrnes is a retard at the plate, a retard in the field, and he looks DONE as a productive player to me. He also seems insufferably stupid, judging from his clothing line and The Eric Byrnes Show.
But without the mean edge. Love him & his all out attitude. If he could throw fly ball outs without runners on base back into the infield as well as Bradley you know he would…
They are actually unerringly friendly, even in extended disagreements there’s almost zero detectable sarcasm or name-calling. It’s a little disconcerting.
But I dont care how much effort he puts in if the results aren’t there. He just seems like a “special” little guy that you say “aww thats cute” but you wouldn’t want him starting on your baseball team.
Even if you ran him out there for 600 PA’s, he’s just not going to put up good numbers.
No Strong Opinion. Love his hustle and work-ethic, hate his total lack of skill and talent as well as his duck-run.
CHutMariners - April 30, 2010
That sounds like you have conflicting strong opinions
cwel87 - April 30, 2010
Really like the guy.
But he’s not going to play enough for me to feel that strongly about him either way. Still voted “like”, because he’s a crazy son of a bitch, and that’s cool. I wish he played the outfield against lefties though.

AtomicGarden - April 30, 2010
Glad I'm not the only "hate" - I assume Goose has voted as well.
He is much like Ruben Sierra awhile back, he may get hits, but I sure as hell never see them.
seattlesundevil - April 30, 2010
I was behind his mother at the poll booth and I'm positive that she voted "hate".
ToddK - April 30, 2010
I expected this to be bimodal
Corco - April 30, 2010
Love him. He entertains me.
JonBBT - April 30, 2010
I'm with you on this one.
We watch baseball to be entertained, right?
lailaihei - April 30, 2010
Exactly
Corco - April 30, 2010
This is my thought process
It’s like I’m watching television. Everything goes wrong but everyone comes out smiling anyway.
MT Olson - April 30, 2010
He's a hell of a lot of fun
but my god, the popups!
Eyeball Kid - April 30, 2010
Today's fun fact!
Byrnes’ career line vs LHP is .283/.343/.508 for a .364 wOBA in 1054 PA.
Byrnes’ career line vs RHP is .148/.310/.409 for a .314 wOBA in 2418 PA.
Wak has used Byrnes twice as much against RHP—23 PA in 10 games—than LHP—10 PA in 5 games—so far this season.
harkening - April 30, 2010
I feel like that's because Wak doesn't really have any other options
If Langerhans were on the 25-man, however…
cwel87 - April 30, 2010
I cringe when anything is hit to him
He’s like a frenzied golden retriever puppy with all four paws scrambling in different directions…after he’s just pulled his snout out of a hornet’s nest.
AltCtrlDelete - April 30, 2010
Something is wrong with 90% of you
Poochie - April 30, 2010
Disagree. Something is wrong with 100% of us.
What that wrong thing is differs from person to person though.
Sec 108 - April 30, 2010
96% now. I hate Byrnes with all my soul.
Decatur - April 30, 2010
Sweeney/Griffey are responsible for Langerhans and the remainder is pure awesome
Poochie - April 30, 2010
Oh hey, look at that.
Decatur - May 1, 2010
Yep
Robert - April 30, 2010
Reminds me of Bradley
But without the mean edge. Love him & his all out attitude. If he could throw fly ball outs without runners on base back into the infield as well as Bradley you know he would…
Pig - April 30, 2010
Booo.
I was hoping we’d vote “Like” on everyone. It would be so Canadian.
Llewdor - April 30, 2010
Bluebird Banter welcomes you.

harkening - April 30, 2010
Toronto is the most Canadian place in the world.
It’s freaky.
Llewdor - April 30, 2010
Finally, a Mariner with some excitement. Due to too much...
bamassippi - April 30, 2010
I have too many memories of him killing us when he was on the A's.
He needs to win me over with some actual performance at this point.
Sec 108 - April 30, 2010
Agreed, he hasn't produced enough on the field to win me over yet.
Small sample size, I know, but still.
sanford_and_son - April 30, 2010
He's a lovable duck.
CHutMariners - April 30, 2010
Hate
Manzanillos Cup - April 30, 2010
I like the he only costs the Mariners 400k.
But I dont care how much effort he puts in if the results aren’t there. He just seems like a “special” little guy that you say “aww thats cute” but you wouldn’t want him starting on your baseball team.
Even if you ran him out there for 600 PA’s, he’s just not going to put up good numbers.
Kenny Knows Sports - April 30, 2010
I like labrador retrievers, but not on my baseball team
Gihyou - April 30, 2010
Eric Byrnes is awesome.
He’s like a circus freak out in left, even when he does stupid things I’m entertained.
Charles Gipson - April 30, 2010
Sidenote - I loved Charles Gipson.
seattlesundevil - April 30, 2010
Until he played with the Yankees, I'd agree.
yuniform - April 30, 2010
X
Goose - April 30, 2010
What the hell is going on in the bottom right one!?
seattlesundevil - April 30, 2010
He was obviously sniped.
JonBBT - April 30, 2010
The top-right picture is the epitome of failure
And, subsequently, of Eric Byrnes.
I love it.
cwel87 - April 30, 2010
That second picture is brilliant.
Eyeball Kid - April 30, 2010
Whoops, meant to be a reply to Goose.
Eyeball Kid - April 30, 2010
I love him.
Griffin Cooper - April 30, 2010
Most of these results
Look like I’m being flipped off sideways.
JordanB - April 30, 2010
Just bought a pair of "Byrnt Organics Jeans"
Love em! Thanks Eric…
Andrew E - April 30, 2010
I like him
How can you not like someone that looks and acts like the result of a mutant breeding of all three stooges?
Nobody Anonymous - April 30, 2010
I like Eric Byrnes
But it might be the different between wacky and cheap vs. wacky and expensive. Thank God he comes cheap.
ThundaPC - April 30, 2010
I love Eric Boo-yrnes.
He’s hilarious. And he has a great work ethic.
SeaKoala - April 30, 2010
It's only fitting that the weirdest player on the team would have an almost perfectly normal distribution
Corco - April 30, 2010
I find it hard to believe that most people don't have a strong opinion of Eric Byrnes.
Eyeball Kid - April 30, 2010
For me personally, I like the fact that he seems like he's batshit insane, but am frustrated by the frustrating batting stuff.
So they cancel out to no strong opinion.
joof - April 30, 2010
He is wildly funny and I don't think he's fucked up anything yet.
InSpokane - April 30, 2010
AHAHAHAHA!
Goose - May 1, 2010
I wish he didn't suck so much
He’d be easier to say I like him. He sucks though. I can’t believe he ever was able to hit.
Edgar for Pres - April 30, 2010
I RETRACT MY VOTE
appleshampoo - April 30, 2010 via mobile
I have changed my mind
Graham MacAree - April 30, 2010
Eric Byrnes is not only bad, but also incredibly annoying.
Teej - April 30, 2010
Feel the hate rise within you!
Decatur - May 1, 2010
Okay so the bicycle thing is hilarious
But still only cancels out like 1% of his extreme fuckup tonight. He’s now on notice.
