When was the last home run hit by this team?
Paul Konerko’s Babe Ruthing us by having more himself than the entire team!
craig3410 - May 1, 2010
Dear everyone that wanted Jeff to change the site logo,
Do you get it now?
Aaron Campeau - May 1, 2010
Exactly what I was thinking when I saw that chart.
Omerta - May 1, 2010
Not to be a total newb, but I'm not sure I know the story of the logo.
I know it’s Sexson crying the dugout, but is there more story to it?
doublemazaa - May 1, 2010
The story of an organizational existence
cwel87 - May 1, 2010
It really is the entire history of the franchise summed up in one image.
Aaron Campeau - May 1, 2010
Aww shucks
Lost again.
ThundaPC - May 1, 2010 via mobile
Felix had a positive contribution?
MFAN - May 1, 2010
Second inning wasn't his fault
Jeff Sullivan - May 1, 2010
Yeah, would of helped if I actually looked at the whole chart.
MFAN - May 1, 2010
Oh, that went on Bradley for the defensive play.
MFAN - May 1, 2010
What exactly happened on that play?
Gameday said the ball was hit to Guti.
E-Lizz - May 1, 2010
I was on gameday as well.
MFAN - May 1, 2010
He fielded it because Bradley stopped
Aaron Campeau - May 1, 2010
Ah okay.
E-Lizz - May 1, 2010
Bradley either lost track of the ball or thought Guti had a bead on it
so he pulled up and stopped pursuing a soft fly that dropped several feet in front of him.
Jeff Sullivan - May 1, 2010
I'm almost positive it dropped behind him
Griffin Cooper - May 1, 2010
Yeah, I went back and watched it after the game (Fuck you, MLB TV)
It landed probably 15 feet behind him and to his left. From his body language, he never saw it.
Matt Erickson - May 1, 2010
Behind, to the side, in front, whatever, I don't remember
It dropped close to him.
Jeff Sullivan - May 1, 2010
On top....
Griffin Cooper - May 1, 2010
It was hit between them. Guti was shaded towards right.
Bradley took a horrible angle, and then decided against trying at all once he realized his mistake (that was my take, at least)
JamMasterJesus - May 1, 2010
Bradley certainly could have caught it, though.
JamMasterJesus - May 1, 2010
At the game, my thought was that he lost it.
The sky at that point was sort of a Metrodome style muddy white or whitish gray or whatever you want to call it, I wouldn’t be too surprised if Bradley flat never saw it. It certainly looked bad though.
drblacknwhite - May 1, 2010
That was my perspective at the game too.
It never looked like he actually saw where the ball went. He didn’t even look behind him when the ball dropped.
seattle_since_81 - May 1, 2010
Lost in the sky
I was also at the game and think he just lost it in the grey skies above. It looked absolutely horrible though and my initial thought was that he gave up on it until I saw his reaction…he had no clue where it was.
marcoramius - May 1, 2010 via mobile
That was my take, as earlier Jack Wilson had the same thing happen to him, where it seemed no one could locate a popup.
joof - May 2, 2010
Fuck Wakamatsu and his belief system
this team is so frustrating to watch right now. Maybe I’ll watch a game sometime in June to save myself the cost of a new t.v. after I put my shoe through it.
RustyJohn - May 1, 2010
So apparently Felix was pitching with a stiff back today.
BrianL - May 1, 2010
Thought I saw him grip it once in the middle innings
but didn’t think anything of it then. Makes sense. Still, amazing that complexion of entire game changed based on that Kotchman grounder, and then Milton Bradley brainfart.
hova9 - May 1, 2010
Since the Royals appear to have no interest in Alex Gordon, I'd love for the M's to take a crack at him.
abender20 - May 1, 2010
And/or Kila Ka'aihue
Aaron Campeau - May 1, 2010
Judging by last year's trade,
KC might part with both for our worst player.
Fans probably wouldn’t like us dealing Griffey, though.
yuniform - May 1, 2010
They might take their Griffey back though!
Eyeball Kid - May 1, 2010
We need to get used to the idea of Griffey remaining on the roster for the balance of the season.
abender20 - May 1, 2010
Yeah. Junior's not going anywhere.
He might get demoted, which I’m assuming he will, but he’s not going anywhere.
E-Lizz - May 1, 2010
I wonder if Griffey is morally opposed to divorce but really, really doesn't like his wife.
Aaron Campeau - May 1, 2010
Yeah, that was my second thought.
abender20 - May 1, 2010
Or David DeJesus
Matt Erickson - May 1, 2010
We should see if they'd take Lopez
Aaron Campeau - May 1, 2010
I don't want to rosterbate, but I was thinking more along the lines of a relief pitcher.
abender20 - May 1, 2010
Jesus!
Slurvey - May 1, 2010
No
seattlebruin - May 2, 2010
The Mariners suck.
Goose - May 1, 2010
Well the last 24 hours have been mighty depressing.
E-Lizz - May 1, 2010
Fuck this team
Rendon!
I Lick Squirrels - May 1, 2010
Silva 5 ER 8 hits 3BB 5IP
He’s back, hopefully.
the other side - May 1, 2010
I keep sending my Cubs friend articles dating back to April 2008
When Silva was our best pitcher. He’s not magically better.
Kenny Knows Sports - May 1, 2010
Watching the DBacks knock him around slightly made up for today.
Until I remembered the rule about shutting off Arizona games when they get to the 7th.
Goose - May 1, 2010
Or forgot rather.
Goose - May 1, 2010
I'm incredibly frustrated, but I'm in no way ready to throw in the towel.
It’s just two games, and it’s two games that may spur some changes in the Griffey/Sweeney DH situation.
Rowsdower - May 1, 2010
I seriously think the only way it gets better is an injury.
the other side - May 1, 2010
Fuck this team
I’m gonna go eat a Double Down
Poochie - May 1, 2010 via mobile
This has been an up and down season for sure
But the worrisome part is that its been up and down with a winnable schedule. I’m worried about what happens when we start to play the rest of the AL East.
Kenny Knows Sports - May 1, 2010
Ask and ye shall receive.
8 out of the Mariners’ next 17 games will take place against the AL East including:
2 against Toronto
3 against Baltimore
6 against Tampa Bay
GhettoBear04 - May 1, 2010
5-6 would be a victory in those games.
Kenny Knows Sports - May 1, 2010
5-6 would be 5 victories.
abender20 - May 1, 2010
I know.
I’d be happy with 5-6.
Kenny Knows Sports - May 1, 2010
I know math.
abender20 - May 1, 2010
Even Steve Kelley sort of gets it
Corco - May 1, 2010
He also suggests trading Dustin Ackley for Prince Fielder.
I’m not sure you can do that, but…
BrianL - May 1, 2010
He doesn't seem to get that Ryan Howard set the market in a bad way.
The $125 million for Howard means much, much bigger bucks for Prince Fielder. So trade away your top prospect and then some for a first baseman that’s a free agent after next year unless you extend him for Teixeira type money? Because despite his wildest dreams Carlos Triunfel and 2 non-Ace pitchers are not going to get it done.
I imagine Milwuakee is going to think the way that Jack Z thinks and that means we aren’t going to get any special deal. Which means we are definitely going to hurt the farm by trading for Fielder. I’m all for a move to get Fielder, but not at an Erik Bedard package type deal + every free agent dollar we’ve got left. It’s even harder when you consider that Casey Kotchman isn’t a big problem for us right now and doesn’t solve the LF/DH problem.
There are better options out there.
Kenny Knows Sports - May 1, 2010
Har har, Prince Fielder isn't going to have an easier time hitting it out of Safeco than anyone else we already have.
sanford_and_son - May 1, 2010
Yeah I think the idea is not necessarily a good one
I just find it amusing that even he realizes that Griffey/Sweeney aren’t going to cut it
Corco - May 1, 2010
Anemic offense and a Felix off-night with back pains...
Bases loaded, <2 outs three times over 5 innings (from 10th last night to 2nd today) with 0 runs to show for it = alcohol poisoning on a Saturday afternoon. I should bill Safeco for my ER visit (they are an insurance company after all…)
I’m starting to believe that Sweeny has nude pictures of Wak’s daughter and is threatening to release them if they release him or demote him…
Belom3 - May 1, 2010
Griffey/Sweeney are indeed terrible
but they wouldn’t be so much a problem if Figgens, Bradley, and Lopez were hitting something close to their career averages.
Well, Lopez’s numbers are not so far away and as such he should be batting nowhere near the cleanup spot, so that’s on Wak at least. (Not to mention batting Griffey so high).
Sam Regens - May 1, 2010
Griffey and Sweeney are the easiest thing to fix.
BrianL - May 1, 2010
Figgins!
Eyeball Kid - May 1, 2010
"Say, Is that Brian Cashman over there?!?"
