Mystery!

Have I linked Mike Curto before? I'm gonna link Mike Curto.

The Rainiers have taken Matt Tuiasosopo off the roster, and I have heard that he is not currently in Nashville. A rather grumpy Daren Brown didn’t want to talk about it, just saying "he’s not here."

In fairness, Daren Brown often seems grumpy.

This is an interesting situation, though, mainly because we have no idea what's going on. I'd say the most likely scenario is that Jack Wilson's headed to the DL. He hasn't played since May 5th and just yesterday LaRue said his hamstring remains a little "problematic," and a DL stint retroactive to May 6th would give Wilson more time to heal up and set him to return on the 21st. With Josh Wilson looking good, the team probably feels comfortable taking things easy with Jack.

But who's interested in what's most likely? Maybe there's a trade in the works. Maybe Tui fell asleep in the clubhouse and the organization cut him to send a message. Maybe something else. We'll find out more as the day goes on. And until we do, speculate!

Traded to the Raiders for the rights to Jake Locker next year.
The Angels won't like that.
They get Marques and JaMarcus.
That's a picture of Brett Butler, I believe.
There we go
That's our Daren!
Is that his hand or someone else's?
This now makes no sense.
Alien abduction
Looks more like an old pissed off Cirillo.

But he was always old and pissed off

Now that I changed the picture, boy is there egg on your face
Now that you've explained it there isn't anymore
Please be a trade for someone interesting that transforms the roster into a beautiful chrysalis
And that hits dingers
I like where you;re going with this but I wonder if turning into a chrysalis is really helpful

pretty, yes, but also inactive.

Trade?

Purge of Bavasi prospects continues?

Who would actually want Tui?
Package?

Not gonna rosterbate, but we should find out sooner than later!

hehe I just said package and rosterbate.

The Royals!
Trade!

In their continuing effort to become the 2007 Mariners, the Royals get Tui and Lopez. In return the Mariners get to continue their effort to lose as many games as possible 1-0 by acquiring Zach Grienke

And Alberto Callaspo.
Fuck Jack Wilson

Constantly mildly injured players are so frustrating. Especially when they’re good players.

The grumpiness

Makes me think it was something Tui did to screw up.

I haven’t been following the Raniers, has Tui been mashing? If so, then maybe I’d be more inclined to think it was a trade.

Tui's hit .321 in limited play

Grumpiness is probably that Tui was taken off with late notice, forcing Brown to scramble for a new lineup.

Of course, with all the 2B/SS/3B types they have hanging around, it isn't a hard situation to figure out
Right, they've still got Hannahan and Woodward to switch between 2b/SS, and Mangini plays 3B.

It’ll be tough if someone gets injured, but c’mon – the Rainiers had 12 first basemen last year and they made it work

And Ramon Vazquez!
And Ramon Vazquez's mustache
Oh hey! What the hell's he grumpy about then?
Maybe he got the notification while he was still asleep and boy Daren Brown doesn't like it when you call him at 5am.
Maybe he got the notification while he was still asleep and boy Daren Brown doesn't like it when you call him in the clubhouse in the fourth inning
What does ESPN have to say on the matter?
Daren Brown looks like he wasn't asleep at 5am
So he has to wake up to huff glue before his wife wakes up. That's none of your goddamn business.
They all had to get up damn early anyway. They're halfway through today's game already.
That's cruelty to animals, ese.
Losing Tui leaves only 1 other guy in the clubbouse

Who is into Settlers of Catan.

He's been doing pretty well since getting sent down.

Taking lots of pitches, hitting pretty well. Not a lot of power, though.

For the record I am 99% certain this is just Wilson going on the DL
Buzzkill
I'm pretty happy to have Tui up if there is little to no chance of him playing SS
I'd have preferred Hannahan though
Way to ruin it.
Seems different in that he was taken off the roster instead of just an announcement of the callup

Or it could just be the twitterblogosphere making it look that way.

Or someone went back in time and the fabric of the universe is unraveling.

I imagine these things don't all happen at once

Tui getting taken off the roster might just be the first domino in a series of moves driven by paperwork.

Shouldn't they call up a shortstop then?
I don't really understand this

Tui’s defense needs polish, AAA seems the place to get the time so he’s not painful to watch out there. At the same time he wasn’t exactly lighting up major league pitchers in his limited time with the big club. Is Hammerhands so fallen from favor or injury prone that they feel compelled to give the Tui experiment another go?

It just seems like the kid needs to be given a mandate about proving his defense and the chance to do it without constantly having to hop on I5 every time Wilson forgets to stretch before a game.

Tui can work on his defense in practice

This doesn’t really affect him much.

Why not Hannahan if Wilson is going to the DL?

BOOO I want excitement

Hannahan's finally played some SS, but Tui has more experience there (even if it's not all good)

And Hannahan’s still not looking great at the plate. At this stage, Tui’s the better bat.

TRADE TRADE TRADE TRADE TRADE
They've traded Tui to RadioShack for me in return

This way Tui can hawk cellphones and I can hit linedrives at Jeff’s head whenever he’s in attendance

And he would have gotten away with it if it were for you meddling bloggers.

I hope it's a trade
For Kila Ka'aihue!
Would the front office start selling apostrophe shirts then, as well?
I would think if it is, Hank Blalock would be logical, seeing as he is more or less demanding a trade

Although, he isn’t really a fit..

He is if Griffey retires
Oh please oh please oh please!
The Royals don't have an entire infield composed of former Mariners yet.
Are you suggesting what I think you're suggesting?

…we keep the former KC icon and they get Griffey? I’m somehow okay with this.

I don't think that's what he is suggesting at all.

I think he is suggesting that they take Tui, not Griffey.

Hank Blalock is not a logical fit
He can't really hit, he can't really play defense.

How is this not a perfect fit?

Too white.

He’d tip the balance of power in the clubhouse in the wrong direction.

Wait since when can Hank Blalock not hit?
2002, 2005, 2006, 2009.
Oh wow, he's really bad
But he's probably better than the 7th best pitching staff in the NL
He's an awful lot like Griffey

Seems like a perfect fit

Hank Blalock has an out clause in his contract and can leave anytime.
I hope he's been released. Fuck Tui
I think he's got potential

But if you say “fuck tui” really fast it becomes kind of an awesome swear word.

He doesn't really have much potential beyond what you have seen at the major league level.

That’s just what I’ve heard, anyway.

I wish they would just make the announcment that Jack Wilson is going on the DL

The longer they wait the more disappointed i will be when it turns out to not be a trade.

Yes indeed.

I completely agree with this sentiment.

I'm not real knowledgable on this, can we just keep sending Tui up and down

Because he’s on a minor league deal? No options to worry about?

He has unlimited options for the rest of the season
To expand on this

Any player that is optioned at any point in the year is now eligible to be send down or called as often as the team likes. I think that’s how it works anyway.

Options are related to seasons, not individual times sent up and down.
Or they would burn up very, very fast.
Makes sense.

Thanks guys.

Just to keep the Royal to Mariner ratio the same

Maybe Tui for Guillen. Think of Guillen and Bradley in the same clubhouse. La Rue and Baker would need to sacrifice their first born.

Ka'aihue!
Where did the idea that Ka'aihue is available take root?

It pops up way too often for something that is basically not going to happen.

The fact that Dayton Moore treats him like something he scraped off of the bottom of his shoe.
He's getting starts right now, isn't he?
He has 4 PA in two games
Well fuck me

I thought he’d been starting

Well in Moore's defense Ka'aihue kinda looks like he sucks
He's been MLB-ready for years and keeps getting passed over for players like Mike Jacobs.
Hank Blalock?
WOOOO ROSTERBATION!
David Ortiz.

More DH types who can’t hit!

Ugh.
And a supplementary ugh for that sig line
Yeah, I don't read those but my original post should have been "Ugh. Ugh."
TLD wants a return on 2 years of frustration.

Idea! Boston and Seattle trade all their aging, underperforming players to Houston and KC for Oswalt and Grienke, then play Russian roulette for Zack.

Just awful.
I regret this thread
You must have seen this coming when you wrote 'speculate!'
I was going to say something above about not turning this in to pure rosterbation

But, it DID say “speculate!” at the end…

it's really mostly just the last five words you should regret

Words are dangerous weapons when in the wrong hands.

I figured you learned your lesson when you asked if we wanted to hear about volcanoes three threads ago
According to my Yahoo fantasy notes...

Josh Willingham was pulled out of the lineup despite a history of success against Pelfrey. Regular rest day I think not!

World Series here we come!
But what about Saunders and Langy?

Is Willingham going to DH?

Langy? Really?

Langerhans just too taxing to spell out?

I prefer Islets

He’s my second favorite body part related Mariner!

Well that's interesting...

But it seems like we have enough OF/DH types on the roster…

Willingham is a way better hitter than any of them.

Though this probably means absolutely nothing because the Nats aren’t unlikely to unload him after his ridiculous start this year (and really good year last season), sure as hell not for Tui.

aren't likely*
Not that it's happening, but Willingham's wOBA over the last three years:

.365/.363/.373, and he’s at .398 so far this year. And he’s not too much worse than Bradley in the OF. He’d be a pretty huge upgrade.

But it’s not happening, so eh.

I wanna play that cracker at catcher yo
He's been a -7 the last two years in the OF

I’m not sold that he’s anything more than a 1B/DH

Well neither is Bradley
That's more on account of being made of glass
That would be perfect too, considering Kotchman cannot hit lefties to save his life

Willingham doesn’t really have a platoon split, but you could rotate him around 1B/DH/Occasional LF and be okay, and get a hell of a bat in the lineup.

oh absolutely

Could take his job outright before too long

DONE!

Divish tweets Wilson to the DL.

I win
Stand by for the prize patrol who will be delivering you a valuable prize!

note: prize may not have value or tangible physical form

I bet it's just Robert hiding in the box.

This was his plan all along.

I hope he remembered the air holes this time.
YESSSSSS WE DID IT.
Awwwwwwwwwww :(
That doesn't mean TUi can't be traded fro Josh Willingham
Looks like we just took out a subscription to the paper.
Aw man, and I got all excited when I saw that Ryan Raburn was optioned today

and then read Jeff’s little cocktease :( Reality is boring.

Reality is as exciting as you want it to be!

It turns out I’m really a level 82 Mountain Wizard! Golly gosh!

And as suspected it's retroactive to May 6th.
Hannahan must look really bad at the plate right now
Thank goodness for Josh Wilson and his Pony League championship trophy.
He hasn't played much shortstop yet and he already has ten errors
I thought he was going to be our new starting catcher
Affirmative.
