Our line drives get caught. Their 0-2 just trying to foul it off swings go for doubles. Can we at least lose a game 10-11 or something? You know, for variety's sake?
It would be cool if we ever caught a fucking break. I mean, really? This is such shit. So many games we could have won, but something like this happens.
He would be that old guy that really shouldn't be playing but does and pulls his hammy in the first inning of the first game then sits in the dugout the entire fucking season being annoying.
I've been through the 7 Stages of Mariner Grief so many times over the past few seasons that I just skip straightaway to grimly amused acceptance these days.
It wouldn’t be so bad if our starting pitching wasn’t by and large absolutely phenomenal followed by wonderful defense (again, by and large). That we are a mere 1-2 runs a game from being a good team is ridiculously tough to swallow on a nightly basis.
my car’s messed up, my insurance is gonna kick my butt cuz the jerk didn’t pull over. This loss feels oddly similar is anger, frustration and scariness.
There’s no WAY he could think that about our offensive execution. Or maybe his standards have plummeted so much that seeing a few hits and walks by Saunders and Bard made his day.
I’m not one to rag on Guti, I would have his children if I could, but you don’t make the third out at third base, NOT EVER. Especially on a team that rarely sees runners get to 2B.
weeeeeeeeeee
oscartehgrouch - May 16, 2010
The Mariners are like a roller coaster!!

Stormton - May 16, 2010

dkulich - May 16, 2010

kennerdoloman - May 16, 2010

kentroyals5 - May 16, 2010

okdan - May 16, 2010
And we could have easily been swept
Rudy4three - May 16, 2010
ARGHHHH
EnglishMariner - May 16, 2010
Eh. He was due for a hit...
JamMasterJesus - May 16, 2010
In play, no out
craig3410 - May 16, 2010
It gets worse.
MFAN - May 16, 2010
Still 5.5 back!
MFAN - May 16, 2010
FUCKING ARSEBANDITS
Eyeball Kid - May 16, 2010
I am fucking using this word from now on.
Thank you.
the other side - May 16, 2010
The sad trombone sound effect just played in my head.
And the head of all Mariners fans everywhere.
FairWeatherFred - May 16, 2010
At we are going to lose to a team with nice shirts
Robert - May 16, 2010
It confuses me
It’s like watching the Royals with talent.
Eyeball Kid - May 16, 2010
YAY KANEKOA!
oscartehgrouch - May 16, 2010
Carl Crawford gets to third
Faster than I could get to first
dkulich - May 16, 2010
Time for the Rays to take a page from the classic 'Mariners Book of Super Fails'
JamMasterJesus - May 16, 2010
FUCK THIS GOD DAMN FUCKING TEAM!
OceanBird - May 16, 2010
I feel like our WE is at about 90% right now. Anyone? Anyone?
LonelyintheBleachers - May 16, 2010
You're kidding right?
oscartehgrouch - May 16, 2010
Not at all
LonelyintheBleachers - May 16, 2010
Even when our WE is 90%
It might as well be 50%.
FairWeatherFred - May 16, 2010
You may be thinking of the Rays' WE.
kennerdoloman - May 16, 2010
He used to seeing us hit with 0 outs and a guy on third
dkulich - May 16, 2010
There it is
LonelyintheBleachers - May 16, 2010
Carl Crawford would have caught that.
Teej - May 16, 2010
That would have been Ichiro like.
the other side - May 16, 2010
KRAKATOA
Eyeball Kid - May 16, 2010
Aw
BrianL - May 16, 2010
I'm so sorry Cliff.
okdan - May 16, 2010
Don't worry Cliff, only a month more of this to put up with before you are liberated by another team.
EnglishMariner - May 16, 2010
:(
:(
Eyeball Kid - May 16, 2010
Game over
Griffin Cooper - May 16, 2010
In my head I call him Carl Crawfish so it always surprises me when I remember that he is fast.
Robert - May 16, 2010
It's fucking amazing. He has the Griffey curves, although a lot less, but runs like hell.
the other side - May 16, 2010
He has very weird hitch in his giddeeup. It always surprises me how fast he can travel.
Big Jared - May 16, 2010
INSURFUCKAMOUNTABLE
TrustBaseball - May 16, 2010
*sigh*
Mariner John - May 16, 2010
At least Griffdawg is leading off next inning
Stormton - May 16, 2010
Hahahaha, thanks for that bit of levity!
Sirbunt - May 16, 2010
There's an 18.51% we don't give up the run
Odds are for sissies… We’re playoff-bound!
universalguru - May 16, 2010
You posted this after we had given up the run
Griffin Cooper - May 16, 2010
I hate GameCast
universalguru - May 16, 2010
If playoffs were for sissies, we'd be there
TrustBaseball - May 16, 2010
Griffey is going to save the day.
BrianL - May 16, 2010
Please pinch hint for Griffey.
Mariner John - May 16, 2010
hit
Mariner John - May 16, 2010
You misspelled "shoot in tibia".
craig3410 - May 16, 2010
Prepare to be livid
AltCtrlDelete - May 16, 2010
Yeah if Griffey is batting in the 9th
I am going to be livid
oscartehgrouch - May 16, 2010
Shocking.
It would be cool if we ever caught a fucking break. I mean, really? This is such shit. So many games we could have won, but something like this happens.
TWownsU - May 16, 2010
All I can do is laugh.
It’s insane.
ChaseB - May 16, 2010
You could also drink. Although that's not the best plan.
TrustBaseball - May 16, 2010
Already ahead of you
ChaseB - May 16, 2010
Alcohol + painkillers is the way to go.
Big Jared - May 16, 2010
We root for a terrible offensive club. This team is not good.
Rudy4three - May 16, 2010
This happens frequently when you score very few runs.
Fuckmikereilly - May 16, 2010
Reverse karma from last year.
the other side - May 16, 2010
If only Lopez would hit .269 w/ .300 OBP.
We’d be saved
universalguru - May 16, 2010
Cliff Lee is going to look back on his career someday and think
“Remember those couple of months when I was a Mariner? Ewwww.”
Goose - May 16, 2010
Sad but true.
okdan - May 16, 2010
And then he goes and takes a shower with all his clothes still on.
FairWeatherFred - May 16, 2010
He already thought that when he was traded to us
IlliniM - May 16, 2010
But what about all the fun times he had in the clubhouse?
He will cherish those memories for life.
LonelyintheBleachers - May 16, 2010
Damn.
Fuck you Rob, this is your fault. Somehow
the other side - May 16, 2010
I wish Cliff nothing but the best
He’s going out there and doing a damn good job
oscartehgrouch - May 16, 2010
This is such a depressing thought
wyte_lightning - May 16, 2010
He's totally going into the HoF in a Mariners cap.
Eyeball Kid - May 16, 2010
"Cliff Lee deserves a much better fate than this"
Yes, like the Yankees or Red Sox come next season?
dkulich - May 16, 2010
Can the Sox afford him?
Another +30 starter signed to a long-term deal. Glad WE didn’t sign lackey though.
universalguru - May 16, 2010
8 innings, 10 strikeouts, 1 walk, 2 runs, and he's going to get the loss
He must love pitching for the Mariners
Griffin Cooper - May 16, 2010
Ninth-inning rally!
kennerdoloman - May 16, 2010
This sucks and all, but the Rays are one of the best teams in baseball, Matt Garza is really good and their bullpen is really good.
It’s not losing games like this one that pisses me off.
Aaron Campeau - May 16, 2010
It doesn't piss me off in theory.
But in practice, this game on top of the 20 other games exactly like this one pisses me off.
Matthew - May 16, 2010
Exactly.
kentroyals5 - May 16, 2010
I'm trying to not be pissed off
Aaron Campeau - May 16, 2010
Yeah, I'm not pissed off.
Just exasperated. But if you want to be pissed off, just go search twitter for #6org
Matthew - May 16, 2010
I refuse to acknowledge those twatscars
Aaron Campeau - May 16, 2010
Can -someone- Rob Johnson please give Cliff a reach around?
It is the least we can do we fuck in ass repeatedly.
Sirbunt - May 16, 2010
This whole statement confuses me.
JamMasterJesus - May 16, 2010
I've read it a few times now and am none the wiser.
Eyeball Kid - May 16, 2010
What?
wyte_lightning - May 16, 2010
I think he wants Rob Johnson to give Cliff Lee a reach around because he is fucking him in the ass.
Just translating here.
LonelyintheBleachers - May 16, 2010
This was probably funny in your head.
the other side - May 16, 2010
This is incredible.
Teej - May 16, 2010
Uh.
qrsouther - May 16, 2010
'Cliff Lee deserves a much better fate than this'
Amen, Dave.
Eyeball Kid - May 16, 2010
Griffey Kotchman Wilson
Offensive explosion!
Fuckmikereilly - May 16, 2010
Oh god this is really who is coming up isn't it?
the other side - May 16, 2010
Do the right thing, Wak.
JamMasterJesus - May 16, 2010
Are you referring to killing Rob, Grif, and Sean?
the other side - May 16, 2010
Kill, cut, bench. Whatever.
JamMasterJesus - May 16, 2010
I am with you then.
the other side - May 16, 2010
Please score 2 runs and get Lee a W.
MFAN - May 16, 2010
Sweeney PH?
4th consecutive homerun?
IlliniM - May 16, 2010
This is a good idea
I think they should do this.
okdan - May 16, 2010
Fire Wakamatsu
oscartehgrouch - May 16, 2010
Griffey's only hope is to draw a walk
Griffin Cooper - May 16, 2010
That should be Griffey's plan from now on.
Walk up to the plate without a bat.
craig3410 - May 16, 2010
We have to PH for someone right? Maybe Wilson.
ABQmsFan - May 16, 2010
If Langerhans doesn't hit this inning Wak is retarded
Griffin Cooper - May 16, 2010
He's injured
oscartehgrouch - May 16, 2010
He is??
Griffin Cooper - May 16, 2010
Elbow injury during BP today.
That’s why Saunders started.
wyte_lightning - May 16, 2010
Fucking fantastic
Griffin Cooper - May 16, 2010
I think that was a floor we just fell through. I don't see anything below us now either.
the other side - May 16, 2010
And Raffy is going to destroy us.
Fitting.
Aaron Campeau - May 16, 2010
Ugh.
You know, if a racehorse sucked it up like this, they’d put it out of their misery.
craig3410 - May 16, 2010
To the glue factory!

Matthew - May 16, 2010
The moral of the story is that we're fucked until our luck changes
Matthew - May 16, 2010
That baby has the weirdest hair.
Very Philly
Jon S. - May 16, 2010
Just look at every fucking pitch Griffey
Mariner John - May 16, 2010
LISTEN TO ME YOU ASSBAG
Mariner John - May 16, 2010
Then he would have struck out on 4 pitches
Matthew - May 16, 2010
yeah I realized that after looking at Gameday.
Wouldn’t have to see him look slow on everything though.
Mariner John - May 16, 2010
God damnit Wakamustlose.
Ender15 - May 16, 2010
Aww shit I forgot they got a real closer.
Fuckmikereilly - May 16, 2010
I'd rather have Horacio
universalguru - May 16, 2010
Would Griffey have success in Eric Byrnes' softball league?
I’m thinking no
dkulich - May 16, 2010
He might.
kennerdoloman - May 16, 2010
He should find out
dkulich - May 16, 2010
He would suck in a T-ball league for six-year-olds.
craig3410 - May 16, 2010
He can't around on the fastball.
Big Jared - May 16, 2010
Can't stay back on the curve ball.
Can’t lay off the splitter.
Can’t wait on the change.
It’s probably easier to list the things he can do, at this point.
dkulich - May 16, 2010
1. Punish the fuck out the post game spread!
That about covers it.
Big Jared - May 16, 2010
He would be that old guy that really shouldn't be playing but does and pulls his hammy in the first inning of the first game then sits in the dugout the entire fucking season being annoying.
the other side - May 16, 2010
I wish we were facing HoRam right now instead.
THANKS BAVASI
okdan - May 16, 2010
I just realized this makes no sense.
Please disregard.
okdan - May 16, 2010
HIT THE SHIT OUT OF THAT ONE GRIFF!
Ender15 - May 16, 2010
Retire Griffey
IlliniM - May 16, 2010
Please stay in Florida you turd.
kentroyals5 - May 16, 2010
Whatever
BRKLN M'S - May 16, 2010
Is Griffey enjoying himself this season?
IS HE HAVING FUCKING FUN?!
Stormton - May 16, 2010
I can't believe he's making $3 mil
I bet Lincoln bought AEG stock for its 2005 price last week.
universalguru - May 16, 2010
I like how Upton kinda fucked with us there.
Goose - May 16, 2010
I looked up earlier and saw it was 1-0 late in the 7th. Then I just checked back and it was 2-1 Rays.
And I laughed. I really did. I laughed out loud.
esoteric - May 16, 2010
Because I knew it would happen.
esoteric - May 16, 2010
Good for you!
Matthew - May 16, 2010
Don't you have a Nationals game to be watching?
Eyeball Kid - May 16, 2010
Conversation between RRS and Cliff Lee
RRS: Tough break, Mate!
Cliff Lee: Fuck you, pitch better
oscartehgrouch - May 16, 2010
Yeah that's probably what happened.
Mariner John - May 16, 2010
Remember that week kotchman was hitting really well?
That was so cool
wetzelcoal - May 16, 2010
Well Junior never considered himself to be a home run hitter.
He’s finally living up to it.
houseofprime - May 16, 2010
PINCH HIT BRANDON LEAGUE
Robert - May 16, 2010
I want Jose Vidro back.
BrianL - May 16, 2010
He'd hit cleanup for this team.
craig3410 - May 16, 2010
And deserve it.
craig3410 - May 16, 2010
Carl Everett, please.
Stormton - May 16, 2010
Get to Saunders
russak - May 16, 2010
We should be pinch hitting Jason Vargas
oscartehgrouch - May 16, 2010
Why when we have the next Babe Ruth in
KING FELIX!
universalguru - May 16, 2010
KOTCH
FUCK YES
oscartehgrouch - May 16, 2010
I'm not worried about the M's.
We are better than our record shows. 5.5 back is nothing.
ChaseB - May 16, 2010
That's the spirit.
russak - May 16, 2010
5.5 back is actually 5.5 games back
Matthew - May 16, 2010
5.5 games back in mid May.
ChaseB - May 16, 2010
They are like half off in May.
It’s still 5.5 games back
Matthew - May 16, 2010
are *not*
Matthew - May 16, 2010
How far were the Rockies back this time last year?
I’m just saying, the season isn’t over.
ChaseB - May 16, 2010
NOBODY IS SAYING THAT
Matthew - May 16, 2010
Just because something happens once doesn't mean it's likely to happen again
Aaron Campeau - May 16, 2010
Oh ok
Now I understand.
ChaseB - May 16, 2010
Refuse to lose!
LonelyintheBleachers - May 16, 2010
Math!
TheBishop - May 16, 2010
It's kind of a lot.
Teej - May 16, 2010
:O
okdan - May 16, 2010
Holy fuck Kotchman got a hit
Griffin Cooper - May 16, 2010
False hope.
qrsouther - May 16, 2010
HOPE IS TRUE, BY NATURE
JamMasterJesus - May 16, 2010
PINCH RUN PINCH RUN PINCH RUN PINCH RUN
BrianL - May 16, 2010

Eyeball Kid - May 16, 2010
Paperboy home run!
kennerdoloman - May 16, 2010
Kotchrally! You gotta believe....
Big Jared - May 16, 2010
YAY LANGERHANS
Although I wonder how his elbow is
oscartehgrouch - May 16, 2010
And the best part of our lineup is coming up!
esoteric - May 16, 2010
The part where Saunders comes up.
russak - May 16, 2010
Hopefully
russak - May 16, 2010
Lagerhouse!
qrsouther - May 16, 2010
Paperboy is here!!!
IlliniM - May 16, 2010
I sadly think that it will be a DP though
IlliniM - May 16, 2010
There goes a possible LH pinch hitter.
Wilder. - May 16, 2010
Josh Wilson time motherfuckers.
Fuckmikereilly - May 16, 2010
I will explode if it's a GIDP
Mariner John - May 16, 2010
That's like getting mad at the rain in Seattle
universalguru - May 16, 2010
Ugh still sucks.
Mariner John - May 16, 2010
I predict a Wilson Dinger.
Robert - May 16, 2010
Dumbass
Robert - May 16, 2010
Woo!
wilsonpdx - May 16, 2010
Great at-bat there, Josh.
qrsouther - May 16, 2010
All these white players look the same.
Teej - May 16, 2010
So do all the Japanese players
And black players
And Latino players
dkulich - May 16, 2010
No just the whites
Teej - May 16, 2010
Josh Wilson is awful.
BrianL - May 16, 2010
You're complaining about Josh Wilson?
flashbeak - May 16, 2010
He fucking blows
Aaron Campeau - May 16, 2010
We knew that.
His season kind of encapsulates the mariners season so far.
the other side - May 16, 2010
Why not?
Teej - May 16, 2010
I mean, I think it's funny that we complain about Josh Wilson when we shouldn't expect anything out of him in the first place.
flashbeak - May 16, 2010
So why the hell is he on the team?
Aaron Campeau - May 16, 2010
Do you really want Tui as your everyday SS?
wyte_lightning - May 16, 2010
I have some serious issues with the MIF depth in the organization.
Aaron Campeau - May 16, 2010
Whatever happened to that Adam Jones guy?
JamMasterJesus - May 16, 2010
He died. Got hit by a semi.
the other side - May 16, 2010
He couldn't get out of the way fast enough.
His degenerative hip slowed him down.
wyte_lightning - May 16, 2010
You can find the video somewhere.
So, sad.
Hobble, hobble, BAM.
the other side - May 16, 2010
Yeah it's pretty pathetic right now.
Maybe in a few years it’ll be looking brighter. Franklin, Ackley, etc.
wyte_lightning - May 16, 2010
BARD BOMB
oscartehgrouch - May 16, 2010
Woo Josh Bard time
Griffin Cooper - May 16, 2010
I predict a Bard dinger.
kennerdoloman - May 16, 2010
look up
oscartehgrouch - May 16, 2010
Oh man you totally won.
Teej - May 16, 2010
Good Call
TrustBaseball - May 16, 2010
Backwards. Almost.
Ender15 - May 16, 2010
Trying to call what happens in at bats is stupid.
kentroyals5 - May 16, 2010
Jay Buhner did it.
kennerdoloman - May 16, 2010
What else do we have to do during games?
the other side - May 16, 2010
Here comees a "Insert player name" dinger.
It’s so fresh!
kentroyals5 - May 16, 2010
Oh that kind of predictions are lame.
I find it fun to make realistic predictions of at bats and see how many I get right.
the other side - May 16, 2010
You can make them without posting them
Matthew - May 16, 2010
Exactly my thoughts. Which is why I don't.
the other side - May 16, 2010
Then why did you insert yourself into a subthread about posting predictions for at bats?
Matthew - May 16, 2010
Good fucking question.
the other side - May 16, 2010
WILSON YOU COCKGOBBLER
craig3410 - May 16, 2010
LANGERHANS??
okdan - May 16, 2010
Bard, SAVE US.
TrustBaseball - May 16, 2010
If Bard comes through
Rob Johnson may as well retire now.
universalguru - May 16, 2010
Yes Dave a two run dinger here would be ironic.
the other side - May 16, 2010
I predict a liner caught to end the game.
qrsouther - May 16, 2010
Langy runs better than Kotch?
the other side - May 16, 2010
Yes.
Wilder. - May 16, 2010
Sweeney vs. Kotch is a push
Big Jared - May 16, 2010
Kotch is ridiculously slow
Griffin Cooper - May 16, 2010
Somehow I didn't realize this. Hmm.
the other side - May 16, 2010
NO PRESSURE, JOSH
I’LL STILL LIKE YOU MORE THAN ROB JOHNSON
Eyeball Kid - May 16, 2010
I think I prefer capital homicide over Rob Johnson.
craig3410 - May 16, 2010
God damn it
Mariner John - May 16, 2010
Oh.
okdan - May 16, 2010
BOOOOOOOOOOO
dkulich - May 16, 2010
WHOEVER THE FUCK YOU ARE, JOSHUA BARD, GET ON BASE SO I CAN STOP TYPING IN CAPS
JamMasterJesus - May 16, 2010
You don't know who Josh Bard is?
flashbeak - May 16, 2010
No. Is he famous?
JamMasterJesus - May 16, 2010
Another almost win.
Thanks for playing Cliff.
the other side - May 16, 2010
RENDON!
w00tah - May 16, 2010
Is going to a far worse team than ours!
russak - May 16, 2010
Well, motherfuck.
kennerdoloman - May 16, 2010
Yeah well jokes on Tampa because Soriano is slowly poisoning their latin players.
Robert - May 16, 2010
And at some point
He’s gonna be sick in the VZ winter league. And he’ll get traded for shit.
dkulich - May 16, 2010
This team is the worst.
kentroyals5 - May 16, 2010
Call it a season
Schuxu - May 16, 2010
We didn't even lose ground this whole series and the Rays are the best team in baseball
Weird time to make the throw in the towel decision
Griffin Cooper - May 16, 2010
I still have some faith in the suck of the rest of the AL West.
Big Jared - May 16, 2010
We actually gained ground, amazingly.
MFAN - May 16, 2010
:(
BOOO!
wyte_lightning - May 16, 2010
We suck
IlliniM - May 16, 2010
THIS IS TAKING THE PISS NOW
Eyeball Kid - May 16, 2010
Would you say it's pear shaped?
LonelyintheBleachers - May 16, 2010
HOPE IS FOR PUSSIES
Embrace the floorlessness. Learn to love it.
esoteric - May 16, 2010
Embrace the darkness.
esoteric - May 16, 2010
It's amazing how easy it was to slip back into this type of mariners fan after this off season.
Hope then…….oh shit.
the other side - May 16, 2010
I am beginning to love the lack of floor
BRKLN M'S - May 16, 2010
At least we never have to worry about being popular and getting bandwagon fans when we win.
dkulich - May 16, 2010
I've been through the 7 Stages of Mariner Grief so many times over the past few seasons that I just skip straightaway to grimly amused acceptance these days.
esoteric - May 16, 2010
Remember all those 1 run games we won last year...
Yeah Fuck that.
dkulich - May 16, 2010
This is called
regression to the mean… so very mean
universalguru - May 16, 2010
Almost 10 games under 500
It’s over
oscartehgrouch - May 16, 2010
WOOOOOOOOOOO
BRKLN M'S - May 16, 2010
HAHAHAHAH
BRKLN M'S - May 16, 2010
STOP LAUGHING
JamMasterJesus - May 16, 2010
Is it not funny to you yet?
BRKLN M'S - May 16, 2010
No not at all
Mariner John - May 16, 2010
I find it hilarious now. ITS SO BAD!
BRKLN M'S - May 16, 2010
I find it soul-crushingly depressing.
Mariner John - May 16, 2010
Yeah
It wouldn’t be so bad if our starting pitching wasn’t by and large absolutely phenomenal followed by wonderful defense (again, by and large). That we are a mere 1-2 runs a game from being a good team is ridiculously tough to swallow on a nightly basis.
Omerta - May 16, 2010
Yes.
I would be able to stomach losing 11-8 every day more.
Mariner John - May 16, 2010
The 1996 Mariners were an infuriating team as well
BRKLN M'S - May 16, 2010
They were
but dingers!!!
Omerta - May 16, 2010
At least they were fucking entertaining.
I assume.
Mariner John - May 16, 2010
I'M STILL ON STAGE FIVE: ANGER
JamMasterJesus - May 16, 2010
Anger is actually stage two.
kennerdoloman - May 16, 2010
Stage 5 is where you should be: Acceptance
BRKLN M'S - May 16, 2010
Oh... Well... Whatever I guess.
JamMasterJesus - May 16, 2010
There we go. Whatever feels better right?
BRKLN M'S - May 16, 2010
Indifference = acceptance?
kennerdoloman - May 16, 2010
Josh Bard comes up in the Top of the Ninth
and I shit.. in.. my.. pants
Jordan of Boise - May 16, 2010
No, please... not the venue.
the other side - May 16, 2010
SUCK EVEN MORE SO WE GET RENDON!
w00tah - May 16, 2010
I think we need bats.
Ender15 - May 16, 2010
Trade Ackley for bats!
w00tah - May 16, 2010
Dingers!
BRKLN M'S - May 16, 2010
My bad not who I was thinking of.
Ender15 - May 16, 2010
Grienke feels the pitchers pain
Pitch Brilliantly and get a ND/L
IlliniM - May 16, 2010
Please come back Milton.
Fuckmikereilly - May 16, 2010
I wish our flaw was the same as the 1996 Mariners.
This is the worst.
Mariner John - May 16, 2010
Griffey, Kotchman, Wilson, Bard, Lopez.. What a boring fucking team.
Rudy4three - May 16, 2010
So would we get more for Lee
if we dealt him now? Look at his shiny ERA… and a full season? We could house a better offensive team with what we’d get in return.
universalguru - May 16, 2010
So painful.
Omerta - May 16, 2010
Cliff Lee is going to back 15-20 million per year coming off a 5-10 win season
Rudy4three - May 16, 2010
*make
Rudy4three - May 16, 2010
Maybe his price drops so much
We have a chance to bring him back
dkulich - May 16, 2010
No GM is going to look at W-L record. I just think the media, who is hung up on W-L record
will bring it up.
Rudy4three - May 16, 2010
Sorry
sarcasm wasn’t noted.
At least Dayton Moore will be fooled!
dkulich - May 16, 2010
Well you can hold onto that hope if you would like.
the other side - May 16, 2010
He's gonna win that much?
IlliniM - May 16, 2010
Should win 8 games or so after he's dealt in July
Rudy4three - May 16, 2010
Gotcha
IlliniM - May 16, 2010
That's silly
Bavasi doesn’t have a job anymore… most Gm’s will still value him for talent.
universalguru - May 16, 2010
I feel like we're almost to the point where it's comical.
But right now, almost every day becomes more painful because of the Mariners
bomdal - May 16, 2010
You haven't been a fan very long, I take it?
We don’t really feel pain anymore.
dkulich - May 16, 2010
Speak for yourself, I'm fucking furious
Aaron Campeau - May 16, 2010
I was but it's a waste of energy now.
dkulich - May 16, 2010
Wrong.
Mariner John - May 16, 2010
Been a fan since age 5
Unfortunately, I’m not as lucky as you guys and still not to that painless point yet…
bomdal - May 16, 2010
I have a quarter century of fandom under my belt now and this team is among the most infuriating I have ever witnessed.
Big Jared - May 16, 2010
It would be more comical if we were 9+ games out.
Sadly I still have hope at 5.5 games out.
MFAN - May 16, 2010
That's true...
But I am just numb. I’m kind of like Dexter now.
dkulich - May 16, 2010
That's how I feel.
This team just needs to get into the playoffs.
ChaseB - May 16, 2010
I'd rather the Rangers run away with it
providing us with some mercy
universalguru - May 16, 2010
I was driven off the road yesterday...
my car’s messed up, my insurance is gonna kick my butt cuz the jerk didn’t pull over. This loss feels oddly similar is anger, frustration and scariness.
universalguru - May 16, 2010
I'm in the numb phase. It doesn't fucking hurt but it will!!!
the other side - May 16, 2010
Cliff Lee always is smiling...
to hold back the indescribable hatred he has for our offense.
TWownsU - May 16, 2010
You know what would be a good first step?
GRIFFEY HANGING UP HIS FUCKING CLEATS. I CAN’T CONTROL THE CAPS, SORRY.
flashbeak - May 16, 2010
NOTED
and agreed
Jon S. - May 16, 2010
At least Cliff Lee is awesome to watch.
That was the best pitched game I have seen from a Mariner all year [admittedly I have watched about six games so far].
EnglishMariner - May 16, 2010
He was on fire today.
The huge strike zone helped.
wyte_lightning - May 16, 2010
He is great
I wish we (the offense) could support him as he deserves.
Omerta - May 16, 2010
Thank heavens we were good last year!
Or else we’d be talking about Cliff AND Felix leaving town.
universalguru - May 16, 2010
Yes thank God.
dkulich - May 16, 2010
I miss Muscle Branyan...
… and luck.
flashbeak - May 16, 2010
Yeah, we've been boned by umps lately.
kennerdoloman - May 16, 2010
And line-drives being caught or going foul and bloops not falling.
Eyeball Kid - May 16, 2010
Our luck has been astonishingly bad.
what’s our xBABIP-BABIP?
Jon S. - May 16, 2010
Team BABIP is .276
wyte_lightning - May 16, 2010
Huh.
That’s not as bad as it feels like.
Jon S. - May 16, 2010
It's still 4th worst in the majors.
At least we’re not the White Sox, they have a .236 team BABIP.
wyte_lightning - May 16, 2010
What do you think it would take to bring luck back?
Poythress, some shame, and some cash?
dkulich - May 16, 2010
Why did Griffey play today? Because he lives in the nearby area?
Glad to see we’re serious about getting back in this race..
Rudy4three - May 16, 2010
Lefty against Righty.
Because he is obviously the better matchup than Sweeney.
the other side - May 16, 2010
Sweeney has been DHing against righties the last 3 games, and he's homered in all 3.
Reading one of the blogs Wak made it sound like Griffey played because he lives near Tampa, and had friends and family there.
Rudy4three - May 16, 2010
I thought he said matchups during the pregame interview. You are probably right though.
the other side - May 16, 2010
And I wasn't trying to be a dick to you I am annoyed at Wak.
the other side - May 16, 2010
Didn't think you were being a dick. I share your frustration.
Rudy4three - May 16, 2010
Sweeney and his ludicrous reverse platoon split.
Why did he get most of his PAs against lefties as a Mariner when the career-long trend for him is hitting righties far better.
Jon S. - May 16, 2010
Tortoise and Hare approach
We’re waiting for the Rangers to stop and showboat.
dkulich - May 16, 2010
Platoonery and Belief System.
Big Jared - May 16, 2010
Ass kissing a veteran is more like it
Rudy4three - May 16, 2010
That's an important part of the Belief Systemâ„¢
Big Jared - May 16, 2010
Wak just said we're playing well.
There’s your problem.
flashbeak - May 16, 2010
was he just talking about pitching?
There’s no WAY he could think that about our offensive execution. Or maybe his standards have plummeted so much that seeing a few hits and walks by Saunders and Bard made his day.
universalguru - May 16, 2010
He certainly wasn't talking about baserunning.
I’m not one to rag on Guti, I would have his children if I could, but you don’t make the third out at third base, NOT EVER. Especially on a team that rarely sees runners get to 2B.
TrustBaseball - May 16, 2010
How did Figgins, Lopez and Kotchman...
lose every bit of offensive talent they ever had?
universalguru - May 16, 2010
It was all the hitting coach's fault.
EnglishMariner - May 16, 2010
Clearly
