a) Bad teams are funnier, but the game threads are not necessarily better.
b) Our team sucks now, and hey.
c) It’s too big a community to be original anymore. Asking for Griffey to retire has gotten sold old it has retired.
d) Numbered lists are fun to write when you’re bored.
e) Giving this sentence a “G” in the beginning makes it look like it spells the word “BOING.”
“Hey Andrew, it’s Jack. How’d you like to give us your versatile 24 year old kid with some talent in exchange for a lazy slow enigma who’s best value is at a position you have decided to fill with one of the best players in baseball?”
I understand being competitive and not smart and being surrounded by jocks all his life… But can Griffey really think he’s got anything left? I mean, really?
Is it geologically unstable?

JAH - May 17, 2010
We need a 12 game winning streak.
ThundaPC - May 17, 2010
Volcanoes can frequently go thousands of years without erupting
Much like the Seattle Mariner’s offense
wetzelcoal - May 17, 2010
Or Robert
Matthew - May 17, 2010
Looks like somebody hasnt ever gone 3 days without masterbating.
Robert - May 17, 2010 via mobile
Jeff's favorite minor league team plays in Keizer, Oregon.
Mariner John - May 17, 2010
And somehow, as bad as Keizer is, it beats the living hell out of Salem.
thehemogoblin - May 17, 2010
Jack Cust didn't swing until the ball was already in the glove.
ThundaPC - May 17, 2010
That makes him quicker than Jr.
TrustBaseball - May 17, 2010
TTO!
wyte_lightning - May 17, 2010
God 24 is so terrible now.
OlSalty - May 17, 2010
The show or the player?
Mariner John - May 17, 2010
Yes
wyte_lightning - May 17, 2010
Ichiro is amazing
Eyeball Kid - May 17, 2010
Ichiro is fucking amazing.
If he swings through that, it’s caught. Instead he slows his bat and it drops in for a base hit.
lailaihei - May 17, 2010
I like how the averge in the "cold" part of Ichiro's strike zone is still higher than half this team's BA
wetzelcoal - May 17, 2010
Kurt Suzuki is fucking dreamy.
abender20 - May 17, 2010
Chone!
Eyeball Kid - May 17, 2010
Hits!
Jackle Mackle - May 17, 2010
Atta boy, Figglet.
CapSea - May 17, 2010
Single for Figgins! That was different.
I was anticipating a K.
ignacio - May 17, 2010
Rally rally the pitcher's name is Blevins
Nick S - May 17, 2010
Which, backwards, is Snivelb!
NWade - May 17, 2010
Are calderas cooler than volcanoes?
Scrupio - May 17, 2010
When they erupt
Matthew - May 17, 2010
Calderas are volcanoes that are past their prime
They’re the Ken Griffey Junior of geology
wetzelcoal - May 17, 2010
I'm pretty sure Crater Lake is cooler than Griffey
Scrupio - May 17, 2010
STILL ACTIVE MOTHERFUCKERS
Jeff Sullivan - May 17, 2010
So Griffey's more like Kauai?
Old and heavily eroded?
eponymous_coward - May 17, 2010
I will kill you all!
(Glacier Peak)
NWade - May 17, 2010
I just suck tonight with the photos
And apparently this site and Picasa are not compatible. :-(
NWade - May 17, 2010
Preview is your friend.
thehemogoblin - May 17, 2010
You and your sensible suggestions!
why…why… why… I guess I’ll have to take that advice.
NWade - May 17, 2010
Glacier Peak is fun.
My copy of Roadside Geology of Washington says it’s dormant and probably inactive. Whoops-a-doodle!
eponymous_coward - May 17, 2010
Its a trap!
(this is better if you imagine the Mon Calamari from Star Wars shouting it)
NWade - May 17, 2010
Geothermally yes
Jeff Sullivan - May 17, 2010
So it might be in the wrong place...
marinerschas2 - May 17, 2010
YES
YES. YES.
SeattExPat - May 17, 2010
Sometimes
wrong is oh so right.
SeattExPat - May 17, 2010
GET DOWN FROM THERE NYJER
Jeff Sullivan - May 17, 2010
Nyger need to light the Olympic Torch.
msb - May 17, 2010
Dammit.
Nyjer.
msb - May 17, 2010
He heard you
marinerschas2 - May 17, 2010
Excellent.
SeattExPat - May 17, 2010
WE NEED YOU BRADLEY!
ThundaPC - May 17, 2010
I tend to like submariners.
ignacio - May 17, 2010
Nick Franklin is my favourite.
Eyeball Kid - May 17, 2010
We almost have a full team of them!
Scrupio - May 17, 2010
I love how even if Guti homers we're still going to lose
Griffin Cooper - May 17, 2010
Even if he walks and Lopez homers we still trail.
abender20 - May 17, 2010
AND THEN JUNIOR CAN SAVE BASEBALL
abender20 - May 17, 2010
So close.
abender20 - May 17, 2010
How do we score 5/6 runs before Griffey is up?
voltron27 - May 17, 2010
Jose Lopez will save us!
joof - May 17, 2010
I still hate Rajai Davis.
Mariner John - May 17, 2010
Lopez is slow but at least he runs funny.
Mariner John - May 17, 2010
Lopez is not fast.
I Lick Squirrels - May 17, 2010
Holy fuck Lopez is slow
Griffin Cooper - May 17, 2010
Tony La Russa is freelancing for Oakland now?
Matthew - May 17, 2010
This is necessary.
ThundaPC - May 17, 2010
Situational lefty. What a concept.
ignacio - May 17, 2010
Yeah, gotta have that lefty to face JR!
MFAN - May 17, 2010
Jose Lopez has really padded his RBI total tonight
Matthew - May 17, 2010
Trade value!
abender20 - May 17, 2010
But probably not.
abender20 - May 17, 2010
Reid Brignac still sounds good
IlliniM - May 17, 2010
It is delicious with cheese and grapes, if you get the right vintage.
msb - May 17, 2010
That phone call would go well.
“Hey Andrew, it’s Jack. How’d you like to give us your versatile 24 year old kid with some talent in exchange for a lazy slow enigma who’s best value is at a position you have decided to fill with one of the best players in baseball?”
abender20 - May 17, 2010
We'll throw in a delicious can of Sprite!
eponymous_coward - May 17, 2010
I see no problem with this.
If anything, we’re more likely to be a able to pull off a straight 3B for 3B swap
Eyeball Kid - May 17, 2010
Lopez and a six-pack for Longo?
IlliniM - May 17, 2010
They should bring in a random fan to pitch to Griffey.
abender20 - May 17, 2010
He could pitch better than RR-S amirite?
Mariner John - May 17, 2010
A fan or a person?
Jeff Sullivan - May 17, 2010
I don't know anymore.
abender20 - May 17, 2010
Is it an oscillating fan or a regular fan?
Jeff Sullivan - May 17, 2010
I think we both know the answer to this question.
abender20 - May 17, 2010
Does the fan have a bat attached to it?
Jeff Sullivan - May 17, 2010
Now you're getting colder.
I was thinking about asking the fan if it kept my documents in order.
abender20 - May 17, 2010
You know what isn't getting colder?
The blue waters within Crater Lake.
Jeff Sullivan - May 17, 2010
World's largest hot tub time machine.
abender20 - May 17, 2010
How about a vacillating fan...
…like most of us here?
NWade - May 17, 2010
They could have some sort of a contest
Whichever fan wins gets free tickets and the chance to face Griffey in a high leverage situation
Griffin Cooper - May 17, 2010
I think I could get 3 60mph fastballs past Griffey
bluemax - May 17, 2010
Strike out Griffey and win a million dollars!
We would have so many millionaires in Seattle.
voltron27 - May 17, 2010
So...
How’s that Griffey! Challenge going for everyone?
IlliniM - May 17, 2010
I literally have no idea what happend after the third inning
Jeff Sullivan - May 17, 2010
It didn't rain hard enough.
TrustBaseball - May 17, 2010
Smack in the middle of our home movies is footage my dad shot flying down into Diamond Head ca.1953
msb - May 17, 2010
Diamond Head is not a volcano.
It is a tuff cone. Trust me. I just drove around it on the way home.
Tyler is a G - May 17, 2010
Still looks very cool inside.
msb - May 17, 2010
A shit ton of military vehicles always looks good!
Tyler is a G - May 17, 2010
In '53 it was pretty empty.
msb - May 17, 2010
Craig Breslow is gonna make Griffey his bitch
bluemax - May 17, 2010
Stop whistling mother fucker.
Mariner John - May 17, 2010
Jeff, the movie Dante's Peak. Your thoughts?
Scrupio - May 17, 2010
Loved it, would hate it now that I know how volcanoes work
Jeff Sullivan - May 17, 2010
Volcano was terrible
Jeff Sullivan - May 17, 2010
Any other volcano movies?
Scrupio - May 17, 2010
Joe Versus the Volcano?
yakvalleycardinal - May 17, 2010
Krakatoa, East of Java!
msb - May 17, 2010
No
Jeff Sullivan - May 17, 2010
There's Supervolcano!
eponymous_coward - May 17, 2010
Up Pompeii!
Eyeball Kid - May 17, 2010
Only seen the tv series.
there is this classic:
msb - May 17, 2010
I've only seen the film
I imagine the tv series is pretty much the same, only with less nudity.
Eyeball Kid - May 17, 2010
I think they maybe spent 20 pounds on the sets, and mostly Frankie Howerd looks directly into the camera, and is Frankie Howerd.
msb - May 17, 2010
Yeah, that sounds about right.
Eyeball Kid - May 17, 2010
Did we podcast about this?
I feel like we podcasted on this
Matthew - May 17, 2010
I alluded to it in a post once
Jeff Sullivan - May 17, 2010
Maybe it was during warmup
Matthew - May 17, 2010
I swear we should just post old warmups
Jeff Sullivan - May 17, 2010
Good news, everyone!
Matthew - May 17, 2010
And there was much rejoicing!
Scrupio - May 17, 2010
Does shitty baseball make for good podcasting?
We already know it makes for good writing.
JAH - May 17, 2010
There was a good Rob Johnson rant in the last one
Eyeball Kid - May 17, 2010
The last one was fun.
ignacio - May 17, 2010
This lineup's offensive output is rather impressive.
ThundaPC - May 17, 2010
I think I'm going to go back to the Show
where Jack Wilson is second for my virtual Mariners in OPS :(
bluemax - May 17, 2010
Seriously, how does he not get it?
I understand being competitive and not smart and being surrounded by jocks all his life… But can Griffey really think he’s got anything left? I mean, really?
NWade - May 17, 2010
It's pretty hard to admit you're done when you've been so much better than everyone else your whole life.
MFAN - May 17, 2010
You'd think that being noticeably worse than everyone else around you might tip you off....
Matt Erickson - May 17, 2010
Griffey has spent literally his entire life in and around baseball.
He’s probably scared.
I Lick Squirrels - May 17, 2010
I get that, but...
…he (and the M’s) can afford counseling for that!
NWade - May 17, 2010
The pitchers are trying tell him something. They aren't the least bit afraid of him anymore.
Big Jared - May 17, 2010
Maybe a volcano will randomly pop up in the middle of Safeco. It can happen.
Just ask Tommy Lee Jones!
Tyler is a G - May 17, 2010
Or Yellowstone could decide it's been 70,000 years, time to go active.
eponymous_coward - May 17, 2010
It *is* active! What do you think powers those Gysers and Mudpots??
NWade - May 17, 2010
Keebler Elves?
Matthew - May 17, 2010
No, I mean REALLY active.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Island_Park_Caldera
eponymous_coward - May 17, 2010
Or like this.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruneau-Jarbidge_caldera
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashfall_Fossil_Beds
THAT’s what I mean by “active”.
eponymous_coward - May 17, 2010
GET THE BUS TO STOP THE LAVA
JLC - May 17, 2010
We could've used that groundball in Tampa.
ThundaPC - May 17, 2010
We're only a Grand Slam away from tying this game
Get Felix up to pinch-hit for Griffey!!
NWade - May 17, 2010
Why can't Sean White be good when it matters?
Mariner John - May 17, 2010
Remember when we had a lead this game? That was cool!
joof - May 17, 2010
We have leads in every game
Matthew - May 17, 2010
And they are always too cool
to overstay their welcome.
SeattExPat - May 17, 2010
Sean White solidified himself as Mr. Awesome with Wak tonight.
Ender15 - May 17, 2010
At least tonight he actually kind of pitched like he deserved it.
wetzelcoal - May 17, 2010
Notice that it was a no-leverage situation...
coincidence?? I THINK NOT!
NWade - May 17, 2010
Was throwing that chair at that unsuspecting lady really necessary King?
w00tah - May 17, 2010
Not to distract anyone from volcano-related discussions or anything, but...
… what a horrible gaggle of (s)hitters to come to bat when the Mariners need runs.
thehemogoblin - May 17, 2010
The worst one isn't due up though.
Mariner John - May 17, 2010
It's as if it's the same horrible hitters we've complained about for the whole season.
eponymous_coward - May 17, 2010
I just realized that we're playing 6 guys who are below Mendoza.
Tyler is a G - May 17, 2010
It must have been nice the last month not realizing that
wetzelcoal - May 17, 2010
Bard wasn't at the start of the game
IlliniM - May 17, 2010
Who gives a tittie
Jeff Sullivan - May 17, 2010
Junior might.
Matt Erickson - May 17, 2010
Fuck that guy.
Eyeball Kid - May 17, 2010
drinking 11-12 sodas
a day would give you some
marinerschas2 - May 17, 2010
Are you watching a baseball game or something
Nick S - May 17, 2010
Do they really need Bailey to come out
and pitch to Tui, Kotchman, and Paperboy?
IlliniM - May 17, 2010
Eric Patterson is slugging .507 so far this year.
And OBP’ing .267. His HR/FB is 16.7. He’s on pace for about 26 home runs. Good grief, SSS.
Matt Erickson - May 17, 2010
Maybe Saunders will PH.
ignacio - May 17, 2010
We need him in case we get to extras and some how one of the out fielders gets hurt.
w00tah - May 17, 2010
Don't suggest such lunacy.
Matt Erickson - May 17, 2010
I dislike Adam Rosales.
I Lick Squirrels - May 17, 2010
BASEBALL IS A FUCKING TERRIBLE SPORT
OlSalty - May 17, 2010
Well thanks for sinking the ship before it left the harbor RRS.
Hope you fix yourself somehow, somewhere.
Ender15 - May 17, 2010
That was just awful.
Eyeball Kid - May 17, 2010
IT'S OVER! HUZZAH
abender20 - May 17, 2010

ThundaPC - May 17, 2010
Who will have the better / crappier quotes - radio or TV?
NWade - May 17, 2010

so…. what?
SeattExPat - May 17, 2010
LL historians please help me
Which LL’er said “Angie turns my crank just fine, thank you.” Or something similar in reference to our TV girls?
appleshampoo - May 17, 2010 via mobile
It was Poochie, but it has since been hidden.

Eyjafjallajokull, most annoying volcano?
Scrupio - May 17, 2010
No volcanoes are annoying.
Mariner John - May 17, 2010
I see we lost.
Ok.
Goose - May 17, 2010
RRS looked really sad in the post game. =(
joof - May 17, 2010
It really sucks that he really sucks :(
Eyeball Kid - May 17, 2010
It takes one hell of a guy to come and talk to the media after being shelled again and again.
thehemogoblin - May 17, 2010
And he's outta there.
Poor guy. I was really pulling for him. Hope he gets his stuff together soon.
melenious - May 17, 2010
If I were throwing like him I'd be really sad in all my postgame conferences too.

Am I too late?
Cantu Easley Winn - May 17, 2010
I know what you did RRS
You broke my heart……..you broke my heart.
Benne - May 17, 2010
But seriously, what the fuck is wrong with RRS?
I am baffled as to why he cratered so hard this year.
Benne - May 17, 2010
He was always right on the border and this year he has strayed a little too far to the wrong side
