After today, Rob Johnson has allowed six passed balls, 11 wild pitches and committed a throwing error. Three of the passed balls and wild pitches came while there was two runners on base. All told, that is 21 extra bases allowed to opposing teams by Rob Johnson with his defense.
After today, Rob Johnson has recorded a grand total of 19 bases with his bat.

Its sad when we are happy to have Bard as our catcher
But at least Bard is minimally competent.
skywaker9 - May 23, 2010
If I could hate him anymore this would do it
Alas, I can’t
Griffin Cooper - May 23, 2010
I thought today you were picking on Tui
ermac - May 23, 2010
I am not Jeff
Matthew - May 23, 2010
Explain.

Casual observer:
“You” = Lookout Landing = Jeff

This is a false statement that should be disregarded
Corco - May 23, 2010
I am assuming the Twitter feed represents all the authors
ermac - May 23, 2010
It doesn
Decatur - May 24, 2010
*doesn't. Graham and Matthew have seperate ones.
Decatur - May 24, 2010
At least Bard has relegated him to backup/Felix duties?
BaronVonBullshit - May 23, 2010
It's all Rob Johnson's fault.
More Josh Bard!!
wyte_lightning - May 23, 2010
Felix needs to start working with other catchers again.
ThundaPC - May 23, 2010
Funny stuff Jeff!
I was surprised you hadn’t been disrespected yet Matthew, gotta keep the tradition.

Kirk - May 23, 2010
Yes.
This is just the most hilarious thing ever.
Matthew - May 23, 2010
On another note, while I hate Rob, it probably isn't quite fair to attribute all of the wild pitches to him.
the other side - May 23, 2010
Adam Moore's also been pretty awful behind the plate.
eponymous_coward - May 23, 2010
Fucking catcher's mitts. How do they work?!
Is this the official scorekeeper’s version of WP vs PB, or updated to reflect how many pitches Johnson actually should have caught/blocked?
Sometimes a pitch is legitimately wild, but watching him stab at a pitch bouncing in front of his foot , and also make no attempt to block it, makes me angrier than some of the other stupid things we’ve seen the M’s do this year.
serotonein - May 23, 2010
Not all wild pitches are the fault of the catcher
but not all hits are the fault of the hitter.
Jeff Sullivan - May 23, 2010
Rob Johnson needs to catch
a bus back to Tacoma
tacomamendo - May 23, 2010
No good.
He’d let it go right past.
JAH - May 23, 2010
I'm trying not to overreact, but...
Is it possible that this organization simply isn’t as good at evaluating talent as we thought?
Jeff Nye - May 23, 2010
I don't think that's the case.
I’m fairly certain that they are well aware of Rob Johnson’s passed-ball problems. Wak has said multiple times that they’re “working on it.” Clearly they’ve grown attached based on how he handled the pitching staff last year.
ThundaPC - May 23, 2010
No
Rob Johnson is just bad and we don’t have any other options, I think
barabuski - May 23, 2010
Certain things Rob Johnson will never have:
A fish
A cold
A plane
A tiger by its toe
A phrase
Kenneth Arthur - May 23, 2010
Laughed quite hard at this one
Chad Johnson - May 23, 2010
At least he'll never have to worry about the clap
OlSalty - May 23, 2010
That can be given!
sanford_and_son - May 24, 2010
I love the disgust in Neihaus' voice when discussing Rob Johnson's latest catching travesty.
wazzu93 - May 23, 2010 via mobile
And if we add in Adam Moore...
The M’s catchers are tied in bases allowed from WPs and PBs and the bases the C’s have managed with their bat.
Oh, and Moore and Johnson have allowed 15 SBs and caught 4 runners. (Bard is 3 SBs, 0 CSs).
This might well be below AAA replacement level catching.
eponymous_coward - May 23, 2010
Tui/ Sweeney for catcher!!
wyte_lightning - May 23, 2010
Clement!
Oh wait
I Lick Squirrels - May 23, 2010
is running a 180/231/320 slash so far this year
CMC_Stags - May 23, 2010
So in other words...
Better than Moore 193/220/298 and slightly worse than Johnson 180/311/311. GAWD our catching sucks big time.
wyte_lightning - May 23, 2010
Jeff Clement plays 1B
Matthew - May 23, 2010
WHY DO THEY ALWAYS
