18-28 is still an awful record, but this is the team's chance to get back into the divisional race. Over their next 14 games, six are against the Angels and four are against the Rangers (the other four are against Minnesota). The Mariners need to make up ground during these next two weeks. They absolutely have to.

Lets win the Lee/Kazmir, Felix/Saunders games please to start with and hope for the best on Saturday.
One game at a time!
Kenneth Arthur - May 26, 2010
Why is Ian Snell starting on Saturday. Pretty stupid managing not to skip him with these recent
days off
Rudy4three - May 26, 2010
The website just has projected matchups given the order.
Usually if they change it, the website doesn’t change until the day of. There is still the possibility Wak shuffles it around.
appleshampoo - May 26, 2010
Given Wak
TrustBaseball - May 26, 2010
That would be two games
Bearskin Rugburn - May 26, 2010
Extra credit!

Ichiro 2 days in a row.......
el pato - May 26, 2010
It's okay he'll get like 6 hits on Friday
Griffin Cooper - May 26, 2010
He threw out a runner at home.
I’ll take it.
Jeremariner - May 26, 2010
Ichiro is in a mini-slump.
But it’s good to know that the Mariners can still win games despite Ichiro going 0 for 9 over these last two wins.
Zombie Nation - May 26, 2010
How do you know it's a mini-slump if it hasn't ended yet?
ralphie81 - May 26, 2010
It's Ichiro, thats how.
the other side - May 26, 2010
Fair enough.
ralphie81 - May 26, 2010
I predict this chart will also double as
a graph of our playoff chances over time.
Cantu Easley Winn - May 26, 2010
Does that mean it's gonna get worse?
WestCoastBias. - May 26, 2010
Apparently August is going to be abysmal.
ralphie81 - May 26, 2010
No its on a log scale
Edgar for Pres - May 26, 2010
Just so my comment makes sense here is an illustration
Edgar for Pres - May 26, 2010
Log graph paper?
Fuckmikereilly - May 26, 2010
Apparently I can't read.
Fuckmikereilly - May 26, 2010
Hard to believe we're having Chicken Dinner
lemonverbena - May 26, 2010
Now we are only 7 - 17 since Cliff Lee came back!
seattlesundevil - May 26, 2010
I really think that we should look at time with Milton on the roster and time without him
I think that would give a better viewpoint. My observation says the team plays better with him around
Fuzz - May 26, 2010
Because it's a better team when Milton is on it.
Llewdor - May 26, 2010
Can't believe we won, that was fucking great
Punkhazard - May 26, 2010
Bard
Any news on his injury?
Tamuzi - May 26, 2010
Mild calf strain, will be re-evaluated tomorrow

Griffin Cooper - May 26, 2010
12-2 over the next 14 games
I’m calling it right now.
MT Olson - May 26, 2010
I can get on board with this..

"He's literally tearing the cover off the ball. Literally."
Okay. I’m going to need to see that homerun ball then.
hova9 - May 26, 2010
Sorry, via postgame radio.
hova9 - May 26, 2010
Mythbusters tested that to see if it's possible to "literally" tear the cover off the ball.
Answer: Yes, but only when the bat and ball have a closing speed greater than 400 miles/hour.
Llewdor - May 26, 2010
One more reason I love Mythbusters
wyte_lightning - May 26, 2010
You can also "tear the cover off the ball" if it's been used about a thousand times.
I did that to an old softball one time in practice. We had a pool for who would be the one to finally make it explode.
Thingray - May 26, 2010
The plastic/vinyl baseballs are a lot easier to do this to
I find a bunch in the buckets at the school where I coach and frequently shell the street outside of the field with them. Eventually I’ll get one of those damn cars
Fuzz - May 26, 2010
It's a great show
EequalsMc2 - May 26, 2010
In one hit, no, but it's very doable to tear the cover off a well-used baseball
seattlebruin - May 26, 2010
Huh
I stopped following gameday to do chores (play Red Dead Redemption) and came here to look at what I believed was going to be an awfully sad chart.
I’m pleasantly surprised!
ungoreatstefan - May 26, 2010
You have an odd definition of "chores".
Thingray - May 26, 2010
Well I said I would do chores, but just after fifteen minutes of RDR
ungoreatstefan - May 26, 2010
I can't play for just 15 minutes.
I start playing a video game, then three hours later I end up taking a break to pee.
Thingray - May 26, 2010
There is no such thing as playing for 15 minutes
Fuzz - May 26, 2010
I dunno R* games usually become chores to finish
bluemax - May 26, 2010
Optimism wins again!
Mariner Melee - May 26, 2010
This game was already on? Lame.
joof - May 26, 2010
We NEED to sweep Anaheim 6-0 and Texas 4-0.
Especially Texas. Need to get back in this in a hurry by trade time, or sell.
ARock - May 26, 2010
If this team doesn't win it's next 15 games the season is over.
Write it down.
TheBishop - May 26, 2010
I dunno about that
But I’d say they need to go something like 10-5
Cantu Easley Winn - May 26, 2010
Sorry.
I was being a bit sarcastic due to what I believed to be some hyperbole. But yes they do need to get hot right now.
TheBishop - May 26, 2010
We probably shouldn't be getting ahead of ourselves here
It is the Mariners after all
Cantu Easley Winn - May 26, 2010
NO! A thousand!
LonelyintheBleachers - May 26, 2010
Ugh
DrunkAmerican - May 26, 2010
Have we ever swept Texas on the road?
ThundaPC - May 26, 2010
Does it matter much?
It doesn’t matter what we did back in 95 or 01, if we did sweep them at all back then, how would that be any sort of indicator of future success?
njd.aitken - May 26, 2010
He's not really making a predictive statement.
CapSea - May 26, 2010
Went to that game and it was great
good thing my mom knows head of security.

Yay for day games and my little Radio Shack transistor radio.

It's amazing that the cheap stuff we sell works for years
But the expensive things it’s hit-n-miss
Fuzz - May 26, 2010
Mike Sweeney's hot streak is getting a little crazy
I don’t think anyone on earth saw this coming. He will definitely come back to earth but its going to take a while and his overall stat line will probably still look pretty decent by the end of the year. Its going to be interesting to see how the rest of his season goes. If he can stay decently hot for a month or two and we are out of contention we might even trade him for a decent product. After this hot streak I don’t imagine him getting benched too often unless he gets hurt (likely). Still crazy and I can’t help but shake my head in amazement when thinking about his recent performance.
Edgar for Pres - May 26, 2010
He is a streaky hitter, he is hitting now like he was in ST. Like all streaks, it will end, it's just nice that it actually happened.
I still have no faith in him dishing out anything but hugs.
EnglishMariner - May 27, 2010
DH
Dugout Hugger.
Jesus Jones - May 27, 2010
I knew he was streaky but I never thought there was a chance that he could do something like this
Edgar for Pres - May 27, 2010
Last 11 games
.410/.455/.923
Kenneth Arthur - May 27, 2010
It's fun to watch a streaky hitter, because you never know when it will come to an end.
I’d like Mike Sweeney to end on an up note; let him have one last hot streak followed by an injury that ends his career and he knows it and retires. The guy deserves that (he played meaningless baseball in Kansas City for too long). I don’t see him getting traded. I see him ending his career gracefully right here with the M’s. Sweeney has been good for the M’s. Let him finish off good and retire. Maybe, just maybe, he can get through to Griffey and let him know that now is the time to walk away from the game. The game has treated both of them well and they’ve both done good things to it, but when it’s time to hang it up, walk away as proud men.
TrustBaseball - May 27, 2010
