Like when you’re playing Yahtzee and you roll three of a kind, but you already have three of a kind on your sheet, so you go for the straight, and you end up getting three of a kind anyway. You’ve also already used your chance, so you pretty much just throw your hands up and say, “I’m fucked, you win, let’s do something else.”
Best reason I can see is that the bullpen is worn out
Though after tonight, that’s not even a problem. The pen is definitely a problem but this is, at the very very best, a lateral move that potentially loses us both Colome and Texeira. The Mariners seemed reluctant to just let these two go away, and yet in the end, they’re willing to let them go when they don’t even have improvements waiting.
Terrible move. Some people may just see this as pointless, but we’re just throwing away bullpen depth for absolutely no reason.
White sucks. Olsen may not suck. I’d call this a marginal improvement at best. Doesn’t this also free up 2 spots on the 40 man? White and Olsen were both on the 40 already…
Seems like we'd be bringing two people in from outside the organization.
Otherwise there would be no reason to not announce the promotion of other Rainiers if you’ve already announced White and Olson are coming up. Or I could be missing something.
I thought that, during spring training, Wak talked about stretching all the guys out (oh my, that sounded lewd) so that he'd have flexibility. Clearly something is wrong with the belief system.
That's dumb.
Why get rid of Texeira? The season’s toast anyway, so why not just keep him? Also White and Olson suck.
I Lick Squirrels - May 31, 2010
Sideways move at best?
wyte_lightning - May 31, 2010
That news actually got me out of bed.
Really? This is what you do, bring back White?
msb - May 31, 2010
No, don't do this.
TrustBaseball - May 31, 2010
Yikes, that sucks.
TrustBaseball - May 31, 2010
WWE Entrance!!
HERE COMES SEAN WHITE!! BACK FROM THE DEAD!!
tait644 - June 1, 2010
White and Olson
All kinds of awesome.
ThundaPC - May 31, 2010
Next up we'll DFA Tui and sign Pokey Reese.
abender20 - May 31, 2010
Except that might actually make the team better.
tait644 - June 1, 2010
Sweet
Poochie - June 1, 2010
Wow. Doesn't that mean we lose Texeira?
And Divish really can’t spell his name?
the other side - May 31, 2010
He can
It was a race to post with Larry Stone. Divish won again.
Brian Floyd - May 31, 2010
So a player I like and a player I dislike for a player I dislike and a player I think is handsome
I’ll take it.
Dewey N - May 31, 2010
You trying to date him?
w00tah - May 31, 2010
No
Dewey N - May 31, 2010
How old fashion. There's other activities you can do with attractive people aside from dating.
JAH - May 31, 2010

JAH - May 31, 2010
Bundling!!
msb - May 31, 2010
THIS'LL FIX EVERYTHING
Jeff Nye - May 31, 2010
OUCH!
TrustBaseball - May 31, 2010
I take back what I said earlier
The season is saved
killer_ewok18 - May 31, 2010
And Langerhans was available to pinch-hit.
msb - May 31, 2010
BRILLIANT!
Brian Floyd - May 31, 2010
This is just poopy.
melenious - May 31, 2010
I can't rec poopy, but yeah, you are so right.
TrustBaseball - May 31, 2010
How about those Twins!
Kermit. - May 31, 2010
Damn I liked Texeira
even though he sucked
jackyz - May 31, 2010 via mobile
At least we have Sean White back
jackyz - May 31, 2010 via mobile
yuck, yuck, yuck.
TrustBaseball - May 31, 2010
Problem solved.
CapSea - May 31, 2010
I am so bloody close to becoming a full-time Giants fan.
Rachmaninoff - May 31, 2010
I didn't know you could DFA a Rule V pick.
drblacknwhite - May 31, 2010
He's offered back to the Yankees.
If they don’t want him, we keep him.
CapSea - May 31, 2010
Has a team ever declined to take a Rule 5 pick back?
I Lick Squirrels - May 31, 2010
I know deals have been made to keep them.
The Typical Idiot Fan - May 31, 2010
Dickey!
Brian Floyd - May 31, 2010
Has to pass through waivers before being offered.
Brian Floyd - May 31, 2010
I don't think so.
I think Yankees are first.
CapSea - May 31, 2010
Nah, it's waivers then offer back
Was on the radio and I looked it up just to be sure.
He wasn’t DFA’d because you can’t. He was waived.
Brian Floyd - May 31, 2010
Ahh yep you're right.
What a confusing rule.
Jackle Mackle - May 31, 2010
Well in that case the rule is retarded.
CapSea - May 31, 2010
Confusing as all hell
Brian Floyd - May 31, 2010
Yeah, I thought the entire reason that rule existed was that teams got their player back if he wasn't kept by the team that drafted him.
Having to go through waivers first makes no sense at all.
drblacknwhite - May 31, 2010
He gets offered back to the Yankees.
Jackle Mackle - May 31, 2010
Thanks folks.
That’s what I get for not looking at the updates before I post.
drblacknwhite - May 31, 2010
So, we'll be seeing plenty of Sean White again.
That should be awesome.
Brian Floyd - May 31, 2010
Oh, that's all kinds of awesome.
TrustBaseball - May 31, 2010
I can't wait to see Garrett Olson pitch again!
Jackle Mackle - May 31, 2010
Roster shakeup!
Teej - May 31, 2010
That is exactly what this is. I think I'm playing Yahtzee with a third grader.
Come Wak, you can do better.
TrustBaseball - May 31, 2010
You should cross out your long straight for fucksakes
lemonverbena - May 31, 2010
I already did, on an earlier turn, because Mariners
Teej - May 31, 2010
Sarcasm aside, though...
What is the point of this, exactly?
Jeff Nye - May 31, 2010
Firing the hitting coach.
CapSea - May 31, 2010
I have no idea.
At the very least, you might as well keep Kanekoa right?
drblacknwhite - May 31, 2010
To get worse.
Teej - May 31, 2010
No good reason. What the $(**&^?
TrustBaseball - May 31, 2010

lemonverbena - May 31, 2010
Best reason I can see is that the bullpen is worn out
Though after tonight, that’s not even a problem. The pen is definitely a problem but this is, at the very very best, a lateral move that potentially loses us both Colome and Texeira. Terrible move. Some people may just see this as pointless, but we’re just throwing away bullpen depth for absolutely no reason.
Fuckmikereilly - May 31, 2010
Colome sucks. Texeira hasn't been great either.
White sucks. Olsen may not suck. I’d call this a marginal improvement at best. Doesn’t this also free up 2 spots on the 40 man? White and Olsen were both on the 40 already…

CapSea - May 31, 2010
Is this the updated ending to Terminator 2?
The Typical Idiot Fan - May 31, 2010
Michael Saunders plays the lead role in Salvation?
w00tah - May 31, 2010
Can we release the manager and replace him with the ghost of Billy Martin?
RustyJohn - May 31, 2010
Guess this team won't sit still when the situation calls for panic
Kermit. - May 31, 2010
Why the fuck is Tui still here?
Brian Floyd - May 31, 2010
I predict that this will solve all our problems
Nick S - May 31, 2010
What will?
beastwarking - May 31, 2010
"I like Olsen and I like White, but what does Luke french have to do to get promoted?"
asks the caller
msb - May 31, 2010
The first seven words lose that caller all credibility.
Fuckmikereilly - May 31, 2010
So Jeff, does your "more to come" mean this is the first of multiple moves?
Or does it mean “more to come” as far as detail about these moves?
Or can’t you say?
Jeff Nye - May 31, 2010
The rest of the roster will slowly be replaced with members of the 1995 team.
Aardsma will be DFA’d and Lee Gutterman will close.
RustyJohn - May 31, 2010
Randy Johnson would be the only player I would welcome back.
w00tah - May 31, 2010
I might take A-Rod.
Fuckmikereilly - May 31, 2010
Oh, that guy.
w00tah - May 31, 2010
Yeah I suppose he could still hobble onto the field.
the other side - May 31, 2010
Didn't Bill Krueger play on that team? I bet he'd get wicked movement on his breaking pitches if he loaded up with all that shit he puts in his hair.
RustyJohn - May 31, 2010
I think so.
White and Olsen were already on the 40 man roster. Waiving Tex and DFA’ing Colome frees up two spots.
The Typical Idiot Fan - May 31, 2010
Good call
Griffin Cooper - May 31, 2010
Tui down, Hannahan up?
w00tah - May 31, 2010
I would think this is the most probable.
Fuckmikereilly - May 31, 2010
I'm pretty sure it means we're getting Pujols and Zobrist.
Slurvey - May 31, 2010
This isn't as funny as we watch our team fall apart.
the other side - May 31, 2010
I'm at the acceptance stage.
Slurvey - May 31, 2010
I am continually hanging right above the Tropic of Cairo.
the other side - May 31, 2010
Well it's not so much I don't care it's more along the line of: ok we kind of suck so I'm gonna have much fun as I can.
Slurvey - May 31, 2010
Aw that sounds like a fun stage.
the other side - May 31, 2010
I hope Wakamatsu has a belief system with them
jackyz - May 31, 2010 via mobile
That would make me happy
Griffin Cooper - May 31, 2010
They'll send down Saunders and call up Chris Woodward
Griffin Cooper - May 31, 2010
Like a lot of things in life we laugh because it is funny yet we laugh because it is true.
RustyJohn - May 31, 2010
Oh good an infielder, good move.
the other side - May 31, 2010
Seems like we'd be bringing two people in from outside the organization.
Otherwise there would be no reason to not announce the promotion of other Rainiers if you’ve already announced White and Olson are coming up. Or I could be missing something.
drblacknwhite - May 31, 2010
I for one am not getting my hopes up just yet.
the other side - May 31, 2010
Brad Nelson could be added.
Slurvey - May 31, 2010
I wouldn't mind
IlliniM - May 31, 2010
Well Texeira couldn't be DFA'd and Colome couldn't be optioned
If they wanted to make these moves for the sake of the 25-man (which might be the case), this is how they would do it.
Fuckmikereilly - May 31, 2010
Ah, yes.
But if this is it who would we put on the 40-man, or would we just leave two spots open for now.
drblacknwhite - May 31, 2010
Could just leave them open
If there’s nobody that needs to be brought up, then there’s no point just filling them to fill them.
Brian Floyd - May 31, 2010
Probably just leave them for when we need them
Bedard and Hannahan eventually will both probably go back on.
Fuckmikereilly - May 31, 2010
Maybe we will sign
Dontrelle Willis!!!
jackyz - May 31, 2010 via mobile
Both!
Jeff Sullivan - May 31, 2010
There are three questions.
Fuckmikereilly - May 31, 2010
Um OK
Griffin Cooper - May 31, 2010
Larry Stone
tries to be more measured about it
msb - May 31, 2010
Aww, I like Kanekoa.
And I fucking hate Olson and White. :(
Aaron Campeau - May 31, 2010
Anyone who doesn't feel exactly this way sucks
Griffin Cooper - May 31, 2010
Olson has starter potential!!!
the other side - May 31, 2010
I don't feel exactly that way
Dewey N - May 31, 2010
You suck
Griffin Cooper - May 31, 2010
You fucking suck, man
Griffin Cooper - May 31, 2010
Are you trying to say he sucks? Try to be more clear.
the other side - May 31, 2010
Nah it's all good
Griffin Cooper - May 31, 2010
OH JESUS CHRIS RADIO CALLERS
The dude that just called, sounded high as hell, says “Maybe they need to trade Lee for some bullpen help”.
Brian Floyd - May 31, 2010
Jesus Chris? Made me laugh just a little.
Good man.
the other side - May 31, 2010
What station is that?
chezbergrur - May 31, 2010

Same guy said he’d been following Colume since his Nationals days and thought he had good command.
Brian Floyd - May 31, 2010
Thanks!
I appreciated it.
chezbergrur - May 31, 2010
Pitman just about swallowed the mike on that one.
msb - May 31, 2010
At least he didn't say, "Move Lee to the bullpen."
RustyJohn - May 31, 2010
We could use a lefty
jackyz - May 31, 2010 via mobile
Drayer thinks that they wanted to return guys to specific roles in the pen
that having too many long relievers had hampered them
msb - May 31, 2010
I thought that, during spring training, Wak talked about stretching all the guys out (oh my, that sounded lewd) so that he'd have flexibility. Clearly something is wrong with the belief system.
RustyJohn - May 31, 2010
Okay, but we could keep Texeira instead of shittyfuck Garrett Olson and maintain those roles, so no.
Fuckmikereilly - May 31, 2010
Now is "shittyfuck" a official title or does he just get to keep it when Griffey isn't playing?
the other side - May 31, 2010
That's Mister Shittyfuck, to you.
RustyJohn - May 31, 2010
I apologize.
the other side - May 31, 2010
Garrett Olson isn't terrible against lefties
seattlebruin - June 1, 2010
Who will carry the backpack!?!
msb - May 31, 2010
Wakamatsu

One of these spots is gonna be for Bedard once he comes back in 3 weeks.
IlliniM - May 31, 2010
Bahahaha, cute.
Fuckmikereilly - May 31, 2010
Doubt it hangs open 'til then though.
And as an after thought I really doubt Bedard comes back that quickly and/or produces. I mean he tore his fucking arm off, takes a bit to recover.
the other side - May 31, 2010
Wait so we got rid of something that was marginally decent and a turd for two turds?
That sounds like a net loss
Corco - May 31, 2010
Screw it- I'd rather have Colome than Garrett fucking Olson
Corco - May 31, 2010
No you wouldn't.
The Typical Idiot Fan - June 1, 2010
Thank God Sean White and Garrett Olson are back. Season saved!
