This is a warning. Don't come crying to me if you are issued a warning. We give out warnings pretty often when we see people doing things we don't like. The warning will include a message telling you why you got warned. Heed the message, click 'OK', and proceed. Don't be offended. Warnings aren't intended to be harsh. Just take the message to heart.
This is a ban message. Don't come crying to me if you get banned. If you get banned, it means that you are a bad poster, and that we've determined you will be of no value to the website. You may appeal, and you may ask to be forgiven, and you may be unbanned, but more often than not, getting banned means you suck and we want you to go away.

Sorry.
I’m still kinda pissed about the Suppan thing.
I’ll be quiet now.
craig3410 - June 10, 2010
It's fine
Warnings are just notices. Bannings are when you know we hate you.
Jeff Sullivan - June 10, 2010
Here's looking at you, Robert
Fett42 - June 10, 2010
What a wonderful example you selected.
SethGrandpa - June 10, 2010
Were both those Fogel's?
Robert - June 10, 2010
They are mine
Jeff Sullivan - June 10, 2010
Oh wait that makes sense now
Robert - June 10, 2010
I am proud to say I've never been banned once
Dewey N - June 10, 2010
How about twice?
bhudson - June 10, 2010
He would have said something to the effect of "I am proud to say I've never been banned just one time"
Poochie - June 10, 2010
I don't know, it seems awfully harsh
to ban someone for having a bad LaHair day.
morrow - June 11, 2010
YOU GUYS
Jeff Sullivan - June 11, 2010
I have been warned
morrow - June 11, 2010
I don't want to live in a world where there is an upper limit to the amount of LaHair puns!
JAH - June 10, 2010
Just out of curiosity.
Do either of these messages come up every time someone visits the site until they press OK or only when they try to post something?
ThundaPC - June 10, 2010
I believe every time
I gave those message to myself, and they came up when I refreshed the page.
Jeff Sullivan - June 10, 2010
Everytime
At 7500toholte I was warned back in April and it still shows up everytime I visit.
Robert - June 10, 2010
So hit OK.
abender20 - June 10, 2010
No thanks I rather like this one.
Robert - June 10, 2010
You haven't recognized this as backhanded yet?
abender20 - June 10, 2010
Hope I never see one of those.
bagsflyfree - June 10, 2010
I got banned for 12 hours once.
Now I’m more hurt by that then I was before.
CapSea - June 10, 2010
Is this in response to a recent event or just a general warning because of the general suckiness of late?
I can also say that I don’t think I’ve ever been warned, so there’s that.
Mariner John - June 10, 2010
Not a response to any recent events
I’ve just noticed a lot of confusion over warning messages over the past several weeks/months and thought I might as well address the difference.
Jeff Sullivan - June 10, 2010
Alright, just curious.
Also, aw butterscotch.
Mariner John - June 10, 2010
Everyone reading this post got a warning.
Janic - June 10, 2010
Warnings: a necessary evil.
Bannings: a necessary awesome.
Jackle Mackle - June 10, 2010
Whatever you do don't hit ok.
In reality when you hit ok you are sucked into an interdimensional realm that looks like a cross between Alice and Wonderland and Tron. Don’t do it. It takes years to find your way back out.
Jack Swan - June 10, 2010
Please warn me! I really want to live in Tron Land.
LonelyintheBleachers - June 10, 2010
...Getting banned a lot means you really like me :) :) :)
Poochie - June 10, 2010
I believe that whenever someone gets banned, they ought to get a tattoo.
That way they can show off just how tough, and how much of an O.P. (original poster), they are.
katal - June 10, 2010
After four warnings they should get a grill
pdb - June 10, 2010
Those who were banned from LL can wear blue bandanas.
While their hated rivals, those from Halos Heaven, would wear red.
katal - June 10, 2010
Forewarned is forearmed, so
four-warned is four-toothed?
If only I could connect this back to LaHair somehow!
NWade - June 10, 2010
I'm an OG yo
Poochie - June 10, 2010
"Ottawa is off limits motherfucker."
Priceless.
the other side - June 10, 2010
What's the point of banning someone?
I’ve never had the experience of being banned from any website before. Yes, I’m just THAT pleasant (or boring…). So this is more a question about any online community or forum rather than specific to LL:
It seems to me that if I decided I wanted to cause trouble and ended up getting banned before I was finished with my mayhem creation, I would just go ahead and create a new account, and then continue on my path of destruction. Am I the only person who has ever thought of this ingenious solution? What’s to stop me from doing such a thing?
shuswapslugger - June 10, 2010
IP address tracking stops that I believe
pdb - June 10, 2010
They would notice the IP was the same.
Eventually it’s not worth the time and energy. Most people aren’t that immune to people’s opinions.
Mariner John - June 10, 2010
The sexy people know how trolls smell.
They’d find you pretty quickly.
Thingray - June 10, 2010
There's really nothing to stop someone who is committed to coming back.
Janic - June 10, 2010
We have a 24-hour delay between account creation and account activation and we know when someone's made duplicate accounts
Jeff Sullivan - June 10, 2010
that's the worst Christmas carol line ever
pdb - June 10, 2010
Dude...
That’s what I was thinking!!!
Thingray - June 10, 2010
We're keepin' a list
checkin’ it twice.
We always keep track of who’s naughty and nice.
Steve Nelson - June 10, 2010
Get banned enough times and you get a deep IP banning
Poochie - June 10, 2010
Teehee!
Dirty!
katal - June 10, 2010
Ouch!
bhudson - June 10, 2010
There are more restrictive measures that can be taken, such as this but you have to weigh those against the harm it does to the larger group.
Janic - June 10, 2010
This issue is much more interesting than the Mariners.
Fuckmikereilly - June 10, 2010
I agree 100%.
Can the Mariners get a warning and subsequent banning for continued suckage?
MarinerFaninAZ - June 10, 2010
Sure, you can go the Sonics route.
the other side - June 10, 2010
This doesn't mean "to the box" is going away, does it??
seattlecougar - June 10, 2010
Never
Matthew - June 10, 2010
.
CapSea - June 10, 2010
I was once
banned from the Adult Swim message boards for being fifteen years old and, by extension, an obnoxious little shit. It really put things in perspective—mainly that I was posting on the Adult Swim message boards and oh good god that’s pathetic.
Liebkartoffel - June 10, 2010
When can I finally be unbanned from House of Sparky?
Corco - June 10, 2010
I wonder how long it would take AK to realize if he was unbanned?
Robert - June 10, 2010 via mobile
No entiendo porque no puedo lahair Inglés
Astrobiology - June 10, 2010
Perfect
Jeff Sullivan - June 10, 2010
You are a conflicted man
Have you ever banned anyone for a comment you also rec’d?
Astrobiology - June 10, 2010
A thousand times
Jeff Sullivan - June 10, 2010
Well I feel less special
and now that I know how ruthless you really are will hold back on a follow-up pun
Astrobiology - June 10, 2010
oops - meant to reply to above...
Astrobiology - June 10, 2010
I'm new, can someone explain the LaHair, Ottawa, Fogel, etc. references?
I don’t really understand what all those things are. I probably wasn’t around for them. Thanks.
scottykimberly - June 10, 2010
the Ottawa Senators are Jeff's favorite hockey team
There were far too many LaHair puns flying around for a while, and Fogel is a commentator with a…colorful history.
pdb - June 10, 2010
*commenter not comentator
pdb - June 10, 2010
The LaHair pun ban started as a playful joke because I foresaw how bad they could be
it’s still a joke, but it’s still a funny joke.
Jeff Sullivan - June 10, 2010
They're pretty solid if you ask me
