No judgments on his music or those who like it, but some people I work with have been douched all over by that guy.

After going seeing some old friends, I got home at about 7:45 or so. My instinct was to turn on the Mariners game, like I usually do.

Instead, I’m watching Ponyo and Veer Zaara. And holy fuck was that a better decision than watching the Mariners.

I admit I got excited when Bradley went deep and then kind of stared at the TV after it was over, but I’m not actually mad that we lost.

I didn't come around to rooting for them to lose until the Oakland series in 2008

I don't root for them to lose; I do prefer, however, that if they are going to lose then they make it spectacular, like tonight.

Because well, we all saw it, you wouldn’t be losing a lot with Strasburg on the mound.

Even the whole “Race for the Strasburg” thing never really did it for me. At least this one had enough of an air of inevitability that it didn’t hurt like those Angels losses.

Do we even know who the number one pick is going to be next year?

For the past 2 years its been a no brainer since April the year prior.

That one against the Angels was terrible luck. Two missed strike calls on Matsui and the ball coming out of his glove on a would-be game ending DP.

I feel sorry for Aardsma.

Compared to last year:

LD% is down (20.8% vs. 18.0%)
GB% is up (34.0% vs. 25.3%)
BABIP is about the same (.268 vs. .271)
K/BB is up a tad (2.57 vs. 2.35), although his K/9 rate is down (8.53 vs. 10.09)

He’s basically getting killed by the following:

HR/FB skyrocketed obviously. (12.5% vs. 4.2%)
LOB% plummeted (63.8% vs. 77.5%)

Seems like his results went from one extreme to the other even though he’s basically been the same pitcher as last year? We’re not able to measure someone’s heart in the game so I hope that’s doing alright!

The K rate decline is pretty upsetting.

Jason Motte’s K/9 went up by two today, so a couple dominant performances by DA could put his K/9 back where it should be.

I would normally agree.

But I’m also invested in David Aardsma performing well, as a D.A. with lots of saves and a shiny ERA is worth more to 29 other teams than the Aarsdma we’ve seen of late.

We aren't going to catch Baltimore, so it's not even worth focusing on in my opinion.

Just know we’re probably going to add a really good college pitcher next year and don’t waste your time watching the standings to see how bad we are.

Baltimore has some good young players it will probably call up here pretty soon, while the M’s don’t. Also, Cliff Lee is not long for Seattle, so that makes us even worse of a team. It could be close.
