So David Pauley vs. Josh Geer isn't quite Michael Pineda vs. anyone, but the Mariners aren't playing, David Pauley isn't terrible, and Josh Geer reminds me of Josh Banks, and Josh Banks throws eight pitches, which is crazy. I don't think I could sell a game any better than this.
Follow along on:
Gameday, here
Radio with Mike Curto, here
...and television, on FSN. For added significance, this will be the final game the Rainiers play in Portland for quite some time, as the Beavers are outta here after the season. Pretty soon, the closest Major or minor league baseball to my apartment will be in Salem-Keizer, and those assholes are 0-3, so to hell with them.

Jack Hannahan is an absolute doll
Jeff Sullivan - June 21, 2010
He looks like Haley Joel Osmet.
wazzu93 - June 21, 2010
Looking at this picture just turned my frown upside down.
I think we’ve identified the source of the Mariners’ chemistry woes this year. Forget about Sweeney’s hugs and Griffey’s gravitas, it was Hannahan’s charming 500-megawatt smile that bathed last year’s team in the glow of cheer and camaraderie. Is it any wonder that a Hannahan-less locker room is a gloomier place?

Cliff Lee is too good for the minors

Duh
Poochie - June 21, 2010
Remember when Portland was a possible destination for the Expos?
Poochie - June 21, 2010
I don't think so
Jeff Sullivan - June 21, 2010
Looks like it wouldn't have worked out.
Poochie - June 21, 2010
I don't think so
Jeff Sullivan - June 21, 2010
I do!
I used to move them to PDX and the Twins to Carolina in good ole Hardball 6.
Robert - June 21, 2010
Wait no I would move the A's to Portland, The Twins to Carolina and the Expos to Washington.
Robert - June 21, 2010
Nobody cares about your fantasy baseball team.
JY - June 21, 2010
I did
Robert - June 21, 2010
Could Mike Wilson still be a major league contributor?
His power is intriguing.
houseofprime - June 21, 2010
Not anywhere in the field he couldn't
Jeff Sullivan - June 21, 2010
" Pretty soon, the closest Major or minor league baseball to my apartment will be in Salem-Keizer, and those assholes are 0-3, so to hell with them."
Yes, but they were swept by the Aquasox.
JY - June 21, 2010
But Everett is far
Jeff Sullivan - June 21, 2010
They were in town from Friday to Sunday and you missed them.
At least at this point, with this roster, you didn’t miss a whole lot, but they sure did beat them up.
Plus they’re the Salem-Keizer VOLCANOES, I mean, come on.
JY - June 21, 2010
I don't know who David Winfree is, or where he came from.
But he may be one of the least remarkable players I’ve ever seen.
Fuckmikereilly - June 21, 2010
I love Beavers vs Raniers, because it involves my hometown, and the AAA teams for my two favorite teams.
It’s like a win-win-win. Also, the last time I went to one, Rob Johnson hit a homerun, so that was magical.
joof - June 21, 2010
Weird, I can't get the Rainers audio to load so I had Portland's feed on; then all of a sudden it's broadcasting the Cincy Oakland game.
wazzu93 - June 21, 2010
This is OK to watch.
Mike Wilson made a nice throw to 2nd a couple innings ago. I live sort of in this this neighborhood and have been there many times.
You can hit the ball out of the park to LF
ignacio - June 21, 2010
Are we winning yet?
Robert - June 21, 2010
Apparently not.
Aquasox are ahead 4-3 on a Steve Baron home run though.
JY - June 21, 2010
Dwight Britton hit one out to the left of the Aquavision board.
It’s now 5-3 Sox.
JY - June 21, 2010
AQUASOX ARE STILL UNDEFEATED.
Terry Serrano with a RBI single after a double by Anthony Phillips, and a wild pitch to move him to third.
Final score is 6-5. Those other two runs scored in a stupid way.
JY - June 21, 2010
Any idea what happened to Bedard's rehab start?
Game went 2.5 innings, now MiLB hasn’t updated the game since.
Fuckmikereilly - June 21, 2010
Someone in the box fell asleep.
JY - June 21, 2010
2.2 IP, 1ER, 4H, 3K, 0BB
Kept the ball on the ground. Pretty good all things considered, assuming he didn’t come out for injury reasons.
Fuckmikereilly - June 21, 2010
Followed by Kim.
Only makes sense with Choi behind the plate.

Scores on a balk?
Kim must feel bad about that. Seems to have recovered though.
JY - June 21, 2010
Yusmero Not-So-Petit.
msb - June 21, 2010
Sooo....
I just learned Greg Halman isn’t a white guy.
Maury Povich - June 21, 2010
Greg Halman struck out!
Mariner John - June 21, 2010
HOW DID THIS HAPPEN
JY - June 21, 2010
It seems like he's pretty good at it.
I guess it’s nice to be good at something…..
ignacio - June 21, 2010
Tacoma can bench Tui, but Wak had trouble?
Maury Povich - June 21, 2010
Thanks for explaining the Mumba pun.
I didn’t get it. Everyone who didn’t get it wouldn’t have been helped by an explanation because good Christ who remembers Lou Bega?
Mariner John - June 21, 2010
It will be difficult to forget how badly Mumba sucks.
JY - June 21, 2010
I would have gone with Samantha Mumba.
Half Irish, Half Zambian singer/actress from the early 2000s.
Maury Povich - June 21, 2010
Pretty sure he's only still around because his name is Mumba
Mariner John - June 21, 2010
He's also one of two players we have from the Virgin Islands assuming Blash signs.
Mumba has a good heater, but he’s still a former basketball player that has never really developed the command to work as a pitcher. I used to think he was kind of neat because of his name mainly, but he’s frequently the worst reliever on any team he’s on and it looks like it’ll stay that way now that Levale Speigner is no longer throwing the suck pitch.
JY - June 21, 2010
Mumba's a fun name
ignacio - June 21, 2010
Jack Hannahan is no Josh Wilson.
Maury Povich - June 21, 2010
Not a lot of hitters on Tacoma clamouring to get their chance in the bigs
ignacio - June 21, 2010
Mangini!
Fuckmikereilly - June 21, 2010
Well that blew
Jeff Sullivan - June 21, 2010
Disagree!
Robert - June 21, 2010
What happened to Adam Moore this time?
Why’d he leave the game? Will he ever play pro ball again?
DAMellen - June 21, 2010
He just did.
