A Few Things

- Futures Game, bitches! Mariner representatives will be Alex Liddi and Carlos Peguero. The game will be played in Anaheim on July 11th, which the studious reader might notice is in the future. Spooky. It's worth noting that Liddi represented the Mariners in 2009, along with Tyson Gillies. Does this mean that Carlos Peguero will end up being the major piece in an offseason trade for Roy Halladay? All signs point to yes.
After his showing in the WBC, I wonder if Greg Halman has to ask out of these things. Or maybe it's used as a threat.
Coach: Dammit Greg, if you swing at one more of those sliders out of the zone, I'm sending you to the Futures Game.
Halman: Don't do it, coach! I don't wanna be on TV!
Coach: Don't swing at bad pitches.
Halman: Coach!
Coach: DON'T SWING AT BAD PITCHES
Halman: But coach, I promise!
Coach: SO HELP ME GOD I WILL TELEVISE YOU SO FAST
- Erik Bedard reportedly hit 93 with his fastball yesterday. Apparently he'll make another two minor league starts before the Mariners evaluate whether he can come back up. It's something. There won't be a lot to watch on this team after Cliff Lee gets dealt, but Erik Bedard is something. Plus, he'd allow us to keep thinking optimistically about 2011. "Well if Bedard's healthy, and he wants to come back..." Just wait'll you see all the Felix/Bedard/Pineda/Fister/Vargas comments left on blogs and message boards. Three aces!
- Cliff Lee is still a Mariner.
- Doug Fister is scheduled to come back to pitch against the Brewers on Saturday. Doug Fister has been on the disabled list since June 1st, and as such he has spent the past three weeks actively not regressing. A little Hart/Fielder/Braun should be able to take care of that.
Greg Dobbs DFA'd!
Any thoughts, Jeff?

Justin Leone will always be better than that sweet-swinging pile of poo
Jeff Sullivan - June 22, 2010
The B-R sponsorship wasn't there so I was curious if you had a change of heart.
Nope.
Double06 - June 22, 2010
If Cliff Lee gets hurt does he still get traded?
Alexander Calloway - June 22, 2010
Depends how hurt?
Jeff Sullivan - June 22, 2010
Don't hurt Cliff Lee.
Fuckmikereilly - June 22, 2010
SHUT YOUR CLAPTRAP
abender20 - June 22, 2010
HOW DO YOU PEOPLE NOT GET THIS YET?
abender20 - June 22, 2010
"THERE IS NO FLOOR" MEANS, QUITE HONESTLY, THAT THERE IS NO FLOOR
abender20 - June 22, 2010
Felix could tear his shoulder while trying to stop AK1984 from date raping him.
That would pretty much be the floor.
Robert - June 22, 2010
You'd just be mad that someone else got to date rape Felix
Jeff Nye - June 22, 2010
I'll be in Milwaukee for Fister's return!
I am legitimately excited for this! I’m just praying to fucking god that RRS doesn’t start on Friday because I’ll be there for that, too. Oh, well.

Felix/Bedard/Pineda/Fister/Vargas
I see five aces there!

"Well if Bedard's healthy, and he wants to come back..."
Doesn’t Bedard’s deal include an option for 2011?
Steve Nelson - June 22, 2010
Yeah, but it's for $8m
I could see the M’s declining the option and trying to renegotiate.
Jeff Sullivan - June 22, 2010
Mutual option
If the player’s any good, he won’t want to renew it, and if he’s not, the team won’t want to renew it. Or at least that was the story at the time the deal was signed.
