Would Fister's contribution actually be -30.6%? His bat contributed -12.7... or do we not count that too?
Just noticed it and was curious if a pitchers batting and pitching contribution combine.
BaronVonBullshit - June 26, 2010
Technically, yes.
But Jeff isolates a pitcher’s offensive contribution because for 99% of pitcher’s batting, it is effectively negative. A nil contribution day at the plate is successful.
Unless you’re Dan Haren.

Alright sounds good, not that I openly want to make our pitchers contributions look worse or anything

What an awesome day for Sweeney.
This is the kind of stuff that’s makes hopeless seasons still fun.

I like this new Sweeney. He doesn't seem like he'll break whenever he swings the bat.
Since we have now filled our Sweeney quotient, I think we should get rid of old Sweeney now that he useless
beastwarking - June 26, 2010
I rescind my Sean White comparison.
This Sweeney kid (35???) is kinda smart. But then again, Sean White’s also pretty smart in that he can blackmail his way into major league contracts.
perfectstrat - June 26, 2010
We the advent of Photoshop, blackmail isn't very hard so I don't think that it requires too much inteligence.
beastwarking - June 26, 2010
I wonder how often the starting pitcher is the biggest suckfest and a relief pitcher is the biggest contributer?

He was befuddled because little Josh wasn't taller.

Looks like something horrible happened
Or J. Wilson is a zombie
beastwarking - June 26, 2010
I like how Wilson becoming a zombie does not fall under the umbrella of horrible somethings.
