Their first batter gave the Brewers the lead. Nothing else happened. Jason Vargas was okay. David Pauley was, too. Russell Branyan showed up in the middle of the game and was available to pinch-hit, but Don Wakamatsu opted for Casey Kotchman and again refused to replace Josh Wilson. It wouldn't have mattered anyway and ultimately this game was pointless. All we care about anymore is that the Mariners are watchable, and today they weren't, so you should go outside and enjoy the Sunday sunshine. It's a beautiful afternoon. Go somewhere and be in it.

Poor balls/strikes contributed to the pointlessness today.
Especially in the ninth. Not to give them so much credit as to think they could come back. But Figgins and Kotchman went down on pitches that missed. And Lopez went immediately down 0-1 on another that missed.
There’s obviously so much more that’s to blame for a loss. But I get angry when the pitch is clearly good/bad and the ump gets it wrong. Be it our pitchers getting squeezed (Felix’s first start of the season, as an example) or our batters getting frustrated after taking balls that are called strikes.

I really wanted to see Branyan shake things up, I guess.

It seemed to me the home plate ump had prior plans and just wanted to be done.

Plus we have some ‘Air Quality’ warning going on regarding Ozone levels. I take it this means a zombie apocalypse is on its way.
Why cant it be 55-65 degrees and raining?
