I'm sure that's how Gutierrez interacts with women as well

I thought you said that Ichiro was the only Mariner who was gay.

Milton wants a date with Kobe Bryant.

They would make a glorious child.

That's an SVU episode waiting to happen.
CapSea - June 29, 2010
Wait a minute, didn't Jeff make a joke just like this in a recap the other day?
My bad.
CapSea - June 29, 2010
2 doubles off first pitch fastballs for Rob
Nice to see him contribute to the slugfest.
MT Olson - June 29, 2010
Indeed.
I’m usually a Rob Johnson basher, but that was nice to see.
I’m going back to bashing him tomorrow.

Running theme of the post-game callers
“Can we keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep him!?!? Pleeeeeeeeease?!??”
msb - June 29, 2010
That's...
…a running theme of all the blogs, too.
rtang - June 29, 2010
It only makes sense. It would be so nice to be able to say "Lee is ours and you can't have him".
If only we could afford him for a shorter time than we gave Felix.
TrustBaseball - June 29, 2010
"Felix and Lee is ours and you can't have them"
That sounds better to me. Plus it’s more fair.
M'sFanatic - June 29, 2010
Please disregard this whole post.
Sorry.
M'sFanatic - June 29, 2010
That's weird. The first time I saw this I read "Can we keeeeeeep winning!?!? Pleeeeeeeeeease?!??"
joey90 - June 29, 2010
Thank you Jeff.
Kenneth Arthur - June 29, 2010
A Cy Young chase would help salvage the season.
Best way to teach players how to win? Play them behind Cliff Lee.

Lee walked someone?! He gave up runs?! Trade him!!!
I’m going to be heartbroken when he leaves :(
wyte_lightning - June 29, 2010
This was one of Cliff's more shaky starts, and he still made one of the best teams in baseball look foolish for 8 innings.
JAH - June 29, 2010
I'd be really interested to see a Cliff Lee poll here at LL
Either asking how upset (or happy) people would be if we kept him all season in an attempt to sign him, but failed to sign him and get nothing bet the compensatory picks.
Or, asking what level of contract resigning Lee would people be happy with.
This is one subject are where I really have no idea what the general thoughts of the LL readership are.
Snuffleupagus - June 29, 2010
Wanting him traded is also contingent on who we get back which would make this kind of poll difficult.
I want him traded, but I want him traded for 3 young, future regulars with all star upside. We probably can’t get that, so that casts whether I’d want him traded into doubt, etc.
CapSea - June 29, 2010
I want that 5 ton solid gold Buddha statue for him. Anything less and I feel we got fleeced :(
JAH - June 29, 2010
What if the Mariners trade Rob Johnson with Cliff Lee
but we don’t get much back?
JonBBT - June 29, 2010
Right, and there are lots of unknowns
But the simple question is ‘how would you feel if we kept Lee all season and didn’t end up resigning him.’
I guess feelings would be changed by alleged leaked offers from other teams, but without a trade there’s no way to know exactly what we could have had.
Of course I’m realizing I could do all of this in a fanpost, so maybe I’ll try.
Snuffleupagus - June 29, 2010
Do the Mariners realistically have any chance of signing him?
Strictly from a money point of view – how much cash can they throw at him? It’s not ludicrously unreasonable to think that he could be talked into pitching in such a great ballpark, with such a great outfield, and yeah we promise we’ll add a bat or two, but if the Yankees (or the Red Sox, or the Dodgers, or whoever) can lay down three or four times as much scratch, do the Mariners really stand a chance?
Aly Edge - June 29, 2010
I'm going to go out on a limb and say there will probably be a post for this so we can save that discussion for later and keep this thread more on topic.
CapSea - June 29, 2010
Cliff Lee is really the only topic right now.
Fuckmikereilly - June 29, 2010
In theory, they could
In reality, they will not.
