Yup.
msb - June 9, 2010
I almost feel bad for him.
It’s has to be rough to go out there start after start and suck that much.
mont_mariner - June 9, 2010
Snell is a very unhappy man who will have a very comfortable early retirement
Jeff Sullivan - June 9, 2010
He's in an ok place. Young, can retire, doesn't need immediate employment.
He’ll be fine. Yeah, he sucks at baseball, but he can learn to do something else for the rest of his life and he probably doesn’t need to worry about what that is for a couple of years.
TrustBaseball - June 9, 2010
... and be paid millions of dollars to do it...
eponymous_coward - June 10, 2010
That game you were looking for,
THolt - June 9, 2010 via mobile
Sorry, mobile post.
THolt - June 9, 2010 via mobile
That game you were looking for, Jeff.
I think it just happened.
THolt - June 9, 2010 via mobile
Sure did!
Jeff Sullivan - June 9, 2010
Good thing our happiness isn't totally dependant on a sports team
right guys?
Slow Country - June 9, 2010
Don't know if its a hard and fast rule,
but adding -ant to a verb generally denotes a person who performs that action ie defendant, attendant, pissant (ok maybe not pissant). If you want to make a verb into an adjective you generally need to go for -ent, ie dependent, excellent, ardent etc. Sorry to be a painintheassant, people on this site do it all the damn time and I finally thought I’d say something.
Bearskin Rugburn - June 9, 2010
I learned something.

This is the right way to be a Grammar Nazi
jb3 - June 9, 2010
Zoloft manufacturers
and doctors completely agree.
m_b - June 9, 2010
The D-Backs will stick him in their rotation next to Donrelle.
JonBBT - June 9, 2010
He doesn't give up enough home runs.
Goose - June 9, 2010
Holy hell am I glad I missed this game.
So when is Snell going to get shitcanned??
wyte_lightning - June 9, 2010
Who knows, he could pre-emptive strike and retire tomorrow.
lailaihei - June 9, 2010
I'd say 50/50 tomorrow
Jeff Sullivan - June 9, 2010
Does this mean noon?

We have now regressed to our potential level of suckitude.
TrustBaseball - June 9, 2010
There is no floor
pdb - June 9, 2010
I'd argue that losing the number one overall pick after winning the final series of the year was pretty close to floor.
JY - June 9, 2010
There was no floor in 2008 and there is no floor now
pdb - June 9, 2010
No, there isn't.
I think that was the lowest we’ve been in recent memory though.
JY - June 9, 2010
When that pick is the next once-in-a-generation pitcher, then fucking yes, that's the floor
This is the delayed residue. It’s just all floor.
lemonverbena - June 9, 2010
I turned the game on in the 9th.
Had myself a good chuckle. Guess it’s setting in now
d0nkey - June 9, 2010
What sucks is that even though we're projected to end the season at 63-99, we're still not getting Anthony Rendon
Fuck you Orioles. Be better Adam Jones.
perfectstrat - June 9, 2010
We couldn't suck enough to get Strasburg either. Typical of this team.
mont_mariner - June 9, 2010
Oh hey!
Here‘s Jeff. It’s a shame he won’t be curing our ills.
perfectstrat - June 9, 2010
Haven't seen that yet. Wow.
Yup, no way we are terrible enough to get him.
mont_mariner - June 9, 2010
Dammit you're making Geoff Baker look smart about the Bedard trade is better after all!
Slurvey - June 9, 2010
Not that I don't like Bedard I love him but goodness gracious that trade was horrible.
Slurvey - June 9, 2010
There's still Tillman.
perfectstrat - June 9, 2010
We need to dump Lee now before he wins us any more games if we want Rendon
wetzelcoal - June 9, 2010
We will never get Rendon.
Stop having hope.
JY - June 9, 2010
We could always go to a three man rotation consisting of Tui, Sweendawg, and Kotchman
I feel like if we did that we could probably lose enough games to get Rendon
wetzelcoal - June 9, 2010
That would mean replacing Sweeney, Tui, and Kotchman with less than terrible hitters.
And replacing Snell, RRS, and possibly Vargas with better options (at least for Snell and RRS).
We might actually be better if we did that!
beastwarking - June 9, 2010
This video of Rendon cracked me up.
Link. (Tip of the hat to Jon on Twitter.)
Teej - June 9, 2010
Watched about 30 seconds of the game tonight
and that was about 30 seconds too much. Man, this team sucks!
Bart's Evil Twin - June 9, 2010
Best picture-on-chart of the year.
RunningFool - June 9, 2010
So what's in the bindle?

Well it looks like I just missed a dandy
Anyone care to give me a brief recap of what went so horribly wrong?
Griffin Cooper - June 9, 2010
You can imagine
Jeff Sullivan - June 9, 2010
Well the easy assumption is that Snell was terrible
Griffin Cooper - June 9, 2010
The damn foot was pointing at third again
Bearskin Rugburn - June 9, 2010
Loafie (for about a second)!, Ian Snell, Michael Young, Josh Hamilton.
And then it snowballed.
Slow Country - June 9, 2010
This Summer is going to suck
Griffin Cooper - June 9, 2010
Aquasox Baseball!
JY - June 9, 2010
Aargh.
Just annihilate the team and put all the best goddamn trade chips on Craigslist or something and we’ll try again next year.
craig3410 - June 9, 2010
Burn the tree?
JY - June 9, 2010
No spam.
Mariner John - June 9, 2010
I will admit, after this offseason I was one of those who felt hope and thought that the site banner could be changed.
Further proof I am a dumbass who doesn’t know shit.

We are all dumbasses who don't know shit.

JY - June 9, 2010
That sounds worse
beastwarking - June 9, 2010
LL is a hive mind.
You’ll like it when you join because you won’t have a choice.
JAH - June 9, 2010
It's not so bad.
At least I know what to think about things now. The uncertainty troubled me.
JY - June 9, 2010
Atta boy
Jeff Sullivan - June 9, 2010
Even if a miracle happened and we made the playoffs
I wouldn’t want to be seen watching us play a real baseball team.
d0nkey - June 9, 2010
Like the Rainiers?
Bart's Evil Twin - June 9, 2010
If we made the playoffs, we'd be a real baseball team.
The M’s aren’t making the playoffs without playing like a 90+ win team the rest of the year. If you play like a 90+ win team for 3.5 months, you’re probably a pretty good team.
eponymous_coward - June 10, 2010
This team is the Rainers. But worse.
JoshF - June 9, 2010
If we were in AAA we'd be so awesome
Slurvey - June 9, 2010
We'd at least be above .500.
thehemogoblin - June 9, 2010
What if we were in the NL?
Slow Country - June 10, 2010
I really wish the Mariners would just be terrible on a consistent basis
If you are bad enough for long enough eventually you get enough high draft picks to become good, like what Tampa Bay did, or what Washington is doing now, or even what we did in the late 80s and early 90s when we go Junior and A-Rod, but no, we have to be ok just often enough to keep us from getting anyone really good in the draft without quite being good enough that adding one or two free agents in the off season will get us to the post season.
wetzelcoal - June 9, 2010
These charts need to start being positive.
How about chance of a great draft in 2011?
(Although Cliff Lee leaving would make that better, don’t go Cliff)
IlliniM - June 10, 2010
Why does the chart start at 50%?
I’m thinking that based on the way the team plays that the chart should start somewhere around 25%.
jbpalm - June 10, 2010
38.3%
as it were.
