Batting lines not park-adjusted.
Seattle Mariners, overall: .237/.305/.342
American League, overall:.263/.332/.410
Seattle Mariners after 1-0 count: .241/.353/.352
American League after 1-0 count: .281/.395/.446
Even with a one-ball handicap, the Mariners' offense has still been a little below the overall AL average.

Not so fun fact!

They never are
Jeff Sullivan - July 22, 2010
Although this is kind of fun
Jeff Sullivan - July 22, 2010
Maybe a slightly disappointing fact?
Fin - July 22, 2010
And the rest of the team besides Ichiro is hitting .226.
I can’t believe we don’t even have a flukey bench player that’s hitting above .300 and that Ichiro is the only one. Hopefully last night gets Guti going.
Kenneth Arthur - July 22, 2010
And even Ichiro is hitting below the norm.
I’m really starting to reassess the absurdity of some sort of systematic problem. They could have an infestation of Gremlins, or Gyspy Curses, Voodoo, or Thetan Poisoning. Ancient Myan Curse?
Drew_D - July 22, 2010
Curses? The answer is Chone Figgins
Figgins, Lackey, and Vlad were sent out to sabatoge their teams. Lackey succeeded in taking down some of his most prolific teammates while Figgins got everyone off soft drinks (Which actually promote baseball skills!). Vlad is just too dumb and probably forgot his mission.

Well shoot
Dewey N - July 22, 2010
You think they would be above average playing with a one ball handicap
Poochie - July 22, 2010
It turns out they are not
Dewey N - July 22, 2010
Yeah it's pretty unbelievable
Poochie - July 22, 2010
You'd think for that price, you'd get two testicles.
Ishmael Borg
MarioMangler - July 22, 2010
I was thinking the same thing
Dewey N - July 22, 2010
Yeah
Poochie - July 22, 2010
DH Felix!
He’s a career .282/.379/.430 after 1-0 counts!
Hypnofelix - July 22, 2010
Welcome to LL!
Your icon is kind of terrifying in a cool way.
JY - July 22, 2010
Thank you!
Hypnofelix - July 22, 2010
He's also a career 1.000/1.000/4.000 hitter against Cy Young winners.
joof - July 22, 2010
You know, this offense is so piss-poor, I wish they'd think about DHing a pitcher if one of them could hit.
Not Felix, obviously, but if one of the other pitchers shows a Carlos Zambrano-like ability to go up there and hit .220 with a homer every 30 to 40 ABs, I’d do it.
craig3410 - July 22, 2010
Vargas used to be a pretty decent hitter in college.
That being said, you’ve got Branyan and Smoak.
