but I probably devote more of my mind to remembering children’s movies starring Thomas Ian Nicholas than you do. Does anyone remember “A Kid In King Arthur’s Court”? (I believe it started out with him playing baseball, so I liked to think of it as a sequel/spin-off to “Rookie of the Year.”)
I had a similar discussion today with a non-baseball fan.
Trying to explain how “low risk” players like Figgins and Lopez can collapse in one year unrelated to age or injury. I still don’t know what to tell her.
It will be interesting to see if this policy changes this off-season.
On the one hand, the major league players have largely underperformed this year while many of the top prospects are having good years. On the other hand, I’m sure major-league players don’t like to be told how to work out.
I don't know why you waited so long to post this
Smegmalicious - July 27, 2010
Here it's Two for Tuesday.
I’m having two calzones!
RunningFool - July 27, 2010
Boy are you going to look foolish when we come back to win this game
seattlebruin - July 27, 2010
Way ahead of you.
Wilder. - July 27, 2010
Sadly tacos are not on my diet
Smegmalicious - July 27, 2010

Porktillas
waldo rojas - July 27, 2010
I want two big stinky fish tacos.
Diggity diggity.
RustyJohn - July 27, 2010
As an alternative, there's All-You-Can-Eat Spaghetti at Big Daddy's in Woodinville
Though, I can’t see myself eating enough spaghetti to make up for the $7 price tag.
MTSea - July 27, 2010
Dude, that'd belike 7 pounds of spaghetti. Dom DeLuise couldn't do that.
RustyJohn - July 27, 2010
Well, there's always Rich Garces.
MTSea - July 27, 2010
You must live within 5 minutes of me.
I’m right near there, mm spaghetti.
Sutiyo - July 27, 2010

I Lick Squirrels - July 27, 2010
It makes me sad to see that we had 80 wins when that happened
HitKing69 - July 27, 2010
RRS was pitching, the chart should've started at 100%
Justin Pieper - July 27, 2010
,
:(
Mariner John - July 28, 2010
To heck with Taco Tuesday, I had garlic lemon chicken.
Jeff Nye - July 27, 2010
Less than an hour for the recap?
Some kind of record?
wyte_lightning - July 27, 2010
Also, RRS can go choke on a bag of dildos
wyte_lightning - July 27, 2010
Burrito Tuesday, actually!
Torrid - July 27, 2010
Well Luke French got scratched from his start today.
Movement coming soon?
BrianL - July 27, 2010
Gotta think so.
JonBBT - July 27, 2010
Please act on your LLeader's request by visiting Taco del Mar, now a valued sponsor for the SBNation family.
Decatur - July 27, 2010
I used to like LL back when it was indie.
Now they’re just total sellouts.
SethGrandpa - July 27, 2010
Again? Really?
HitKing69 - July 27, 2010
Im 100% sure he was joking
Karma Police - July 27, 2010
They were much cooler when they were a three-piece act signed to SubPop.
I don’t get this new direction they’re going in.
ThomasG - July 28, 2010
After I'm done watching my Comcast cable and setting my fantasy baseball team on CBS.
joof - July 27, 2010
I think it's taco Tuesday in Arlington
we miss you Cliffey.
Bearskin Rugburn - July 27, 2010
Yup, it's at the very classy Long Horn tavern.
aestivalis - July 27, 2010
Or go to Stanwood.
They have all you can eat tacos at Amigos.
aestivalis - July 27, 2010
This is the first time I've read an entire game thread in the history of LL
Thanks, craptacular M’s!
Taco night is Monday at my local bar. That’s not very alliterative of them.
pdb - July 27, 2010
Not even 23 June 2008 or Lolcatz night?
Decatur - July 27, 2010
Read through parts, never read the entire threads.
pdb - July 27, 2010
We've had more spirited OTs recently.
JY - July 27, 2010
This seems implausible
But I’ll take your word for it.
appleshampoo - July 27, 2010
Computer is not laptop, and is not where TV is, thus watching and threading never happen
didn’t feel like watching tonight so I followed the thread.
pdb - July 28, 2010
Holy cats.
really? 11-0?
what is Ichiro doing still in the game?
msb - July 27, 2010
Pitching!!
wyte_lightning - July 27, 2010
Oh, I wish.
msb - July 27, 2010
He's going to need every chance he can get for 200 hits.
Eyebrows - July 27, 2010
He won't get them if his legs fall off.
msb - July 27, 2010
His legs won't fall off until he's 135 years old
ThundaPC - July 27, 2010
He can get robotic legs from Japan.
JAH - July 27, 2010
Or steal them from some girl in the stands.
ThomasG - July 28, 2010
Me, I was just at Kidd Valley.
Having my dad now living 10 blocks away is not doing my diet any good at all.
msb - July 27, 2010
You should walk there.
You’ll burn off one or two of those garlic fries. And maybe a pickle.
Jeremariner - July 27, 2010
I could easily walk there.
the 91-year-old, not so much.
msb - July 28, 2010
Looks like it's time to hit up Qdoba.
JAH - July 27, 2010
Does this mean that the spin off will be called "Taco Tuesdays with Sean Green"?
Robert - July 27, 2010
Sexy.
katal - July 27, 2010
I haven't seen Cliff smile once in the Rangers dugout.
You couldn’t get him to stop smiling here if you stapled his lips to his chin.
>:(
>:(
>:(
Faux - July 27, 2010
Whoops, wrong thread.
Faux - July 27, 2010
Mixed feelings.
If he dislikes the Rangers to the extent of not wanting to re-sign, that’s cool, but I also don’t want Cliff to be unhappy.
JY - July 27, 2010
Hmm
it does displease me to see him unhappy. But good god, Cliffmas is sweet.
I love Smoaky very very much. But I no longer question that trade.
Conjunction - July 27, 2010
RRS is 1-10 now?
Yikes.
thewyrm - July 27, 2010
Well, in Australia he is probably 10-1.
Fin - July 27, 2010
Did Hyphen break SBN for awhile?
This has to be his last start of 2010, right?
Kenneth Arthur - July 27, 2010
Only 2 more games in this park!
ambrosia2112 - July 27, 2010
Usually it's funny when the Mariners are bad but recently they have done notihng to stimulate humor.
CapSea - July 27, 2010
We're not the only team having trouble. From Royals Review:
“Royals Score Twice as Many Points, Allow 8 Less Runs Than Last Night and Still Lose by 9”
apunetid - July 27, 2010
The issue is that they're scoring points instead of runs.
Typical Royals.
Kenneth Arthur - July 27, 2010
And they'd allow fewer runs, not less.
Eyebrows - July 27, 2010
Has there ever been such a confluence of so many players on one team just forgetting how to play baseball?
Jeff Nye - July 27, 2010
No, but Henry Rowengartner once lost all of the power in his pitching arm before a game.
Kenneth Arthur - July 27, 2010
Midinning, actually
but I probably devote more of my mind to remembering children’s movies starring Thomas Ian Nicholas than you do. Does anyone remember “A Kid In King Arthur’s Court”? (I believe it started out with him playing baseball, so I liked to think of it as a sequel/spin-off to “Rookie of the Year.”)
Crimson G - July 27, 2010
All I remember from that was them roller-skating through the castle.
theNmarie - July 27, 2010
That's all I remember as well.. heh.
JonBBT - July 28, 2010
For some reason the first thing I thought of when reading this
was a pitcher suddenly coming down with Alien Hand Syndrome as they take the mound.
JonBBT - July 28, 2010
I had a similar discussion today with a non-baseball fan.
Trying to explain how “low risk” players like Figgins and Lopez can collapse in one year unrelated to age or injury. I still don’t know what to tell her.
CapSea - July 28, 2010
If it's all the same to everyone here, I'd like to blame P90X
CapSea - July 28, 2010
Could the change in offseason workouts be the cause?
Cthaller59 - July 28, 2010
The major league club did NOT change their workouts.
That change was for the minor leagues only. It might make its way to the big club eventually, but for now it’s status quo at the major league level.
pdb - July 28, 2010
I thought they said that they were implementing it but they weren't required to do it on the Major league level.
Cthaller59 - July 28, 2010
They offered it. No one was required to do it. Most didn't.
JY - July 28, 2010
It will be interesting to see if this policy changes this off-season.
On the one hand, the major league players have largely underperformed this year while many of the top prospects are having good years. On the other hand, I’m sure major-league players don’t like to be told how to work out.
Chris Hafner - July 28, 2010
If Griffey did what he did drinking eight cans of soda a day, by God, he must be on to something.
JY - July 28, 2010
Did drinking that much soda actually make Griffey that great?
Maybe! There’s really no way of knowing for certain!
Chris Hafner - July 28, 2010
Personally I think we should get as many of those titanium chains as possible.
And maybe hire a witch doctor.
JY - July 28, 2010
There's a Pepsi executive somewhere who should be fired for missing this marketing opportunity.
Drew_D - July 28, 2010
I chose tequila instead of tacos.
I think it worked out well. Maybe.
BrettJMiller - July 28, 2010
You are up at 10AM, so it didn't work out too badly.
JAH - July 28, 2010
Perhaps he didn't go to bed yet
Aaron Campeau - July 28, 2010
Fun fact
Cliff Lee last night went 9 IP with 0 ER, 0 BB and 13K.
Edgar for Pres - July 28, 2010
And got a ND.
must have felt right at home.
msb - July 28, 2010
Good to know we aren't the only one's who can squander his magnificence.
JAH - July 28, 2010
Holy shit
Poochie - July 28, 2010
I saw the highlights on Baseball Tonight and got really bummed out.
Couldn’t help it.
sanford_and_son - July 28, 2010
His K/BB ratio is over 16 again.
2010 Cliff Lee is turning out to be stuff of legends.
Allen Wu - July 28, 2010
He's lost two complete games to extra innings
Poochie - July 28, 2010
So has Felix >=(
joof - July 28, 2010
I wonder what the worst all time team OPS+ is, because we're at 76 and I think we're threatening the record.
Poochie - July 28, 2010
The 1899 Cleveland Spiders were worse.
They had 74.
Don’t know of a way of searching it on Play Index, though, so I had to search manually.
craig3410 - July 28, 2010
Almost the worst OPS+ in three centuries!
Believe BIG!
pdb - July 28, 2010
And they were considered such a poor team they were later folded.
seattlebruin - July 28, 2010
We're in rarefied air, guys
